1661  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcointalk forum mobile app on: June 09, 2021, 05:38:06 PM
You could check if unofficial open source mobile app can be built... find ways to get it built, test for safety, and get  interested members of the forum to use it.
I actually prefer sites that work well on browsers of mobile devices like phones (so that I can open multiple tabs for other uses), Bitcointalk is actually one of such sites. Besides, I hardly use mobile apps that much unless they have multiple uses that include most things I spend much time doing on the internet on daily basis
1662  Economy / Economics / Re: Permanent residence in El Salvador for crypto entrepreneurs on: June 09, 2021, 04:42:22 PM
As we reported a few days ago, the President of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele, announced during the Miami Conference that the country intends to accept bitcoin as a currency in the country. Now the 39-year-old has added to the appeal of his proposal on Sunday with his new remarks on Twitter. Bukele announced in his latest tweet that:
"The government will immediately grant permanent residency to crypto entrepreneurs."
Today, his proposal was approved by 62 official members of parliament against 19 votes against. Explaining the bill, Bukele added that the country is also proposing a new law to parliament that would allow anyone with a 3-bitcoin investment in the El Salvadorian economy to obtain permanent residency.
It is interesting to know that the official currency of El Salvador is the US dollar. About a quarter of El Salvadorians live in the United States, and last year they sent more than $ 6 billion in remittances despite the Corona epidemic.
Nayib Bukele acknowledged that the move was aimed at creating jobs and providing employment opportunities for thousands of people who now operate outside the country's . legal economy.. He noted that 70 percent of the population now does not have a bank account and operates in an . informal economy.

Source: Yahoo News

Anyone from El Salvador can give any feedback about living costs and living situation in this country?

Trying to properly understand what they mean by Legal & informal economy.
Guess the opposite of the Legal economy is Illegal economy. The terms should be properly defined to mean safe/moral economy else I see a situation where lawless rulers misinterprete it for their own evil agenda.

That part of the economy has alot of businesses (especially rural/traditions businesses) that provide products that are way better and healthier than businesses that seem regulated.
Government should emphasize on safety and good products and services. Businesses could be penalized if there are proofs their products and services are harmful to people/society.
They could simply follow good and reasonable rules. Blockchain and similar tech could help in automating certification.

Edit: In regards to the incentives to crypto entrepreneurs, I actually prefer to build from any part of the world especially as a nomad.

I totally believe that taking big Betting risk  or Gambling in Bets can be curtailed or minimized if we keep teaching people how to be responsible Bettor.
It actually heart breaking to see people complain about the problems they face due to gambling whereas they are numerous ways they can avoid the problems.

Hope this thread helps people who gamble in bets to learn how to be responsible and successful bettor without gambling or without taking big risk.

My Post Collections on the Gambling Discussion Section:

1. Someone  posted: "Have you guys thought of ending the life after big losses. Right now my mind is thinking of ending the life. It all started with just $700. I lost it, and in the event of recovering those fund I went for a loan and deposited around $2500. Here my fate, I lost everything once again. Then the recovery value increased from $700 to $3200. Here once again I deposited $9000 borrowing. Now that too is lost. My mind keeps saying end the life, with your earning you can't repay the amount lost.
Sorry guys."

* My reply: Seems you are betting with what you can't afford to risk/lose. This is typically what gamblers do. ..They bet with what they can't afford to lose, then get sad when they lose it or start contemplating suicide.
I would advise that you learn to become skilled bettor or stick to betting occasionally with little amount until you  become consistently profitable.

Bet, but don't Gamble.
Gambling is not for smart and responsible people

Just bumping the Original unedited post (quoted above) of this thread for future reference.

* The main post has now been edited to include more information(comments/posts) from myself and other posters on  "Gambling Discussion" section
1664  Other / Off-topic / Re: What is the dark web? on: June 09, 2021, 02:54:00 PM
I dont know very much about the Dark Web but I know its highly illegal do go to the site so for this reason alone I am not going to ever visit it.

I wonder if it a mere site(website?) or underground cyberspace/internet?
You could go underground if the surface cyberspace becomes hostile/evil/tyrannical. What matter is what they do underground... Causing problems or solving problems in morally acceptable manner?
The only thing still preventing me from using  such underground space is transparency and other good/important ideals that can be found in true cryptocurrency.

1665  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How do I know if an altcoin is a scam? on: June 09, 2021, 10:59:10 AM
A decentralized and safe shouldn't have developers privacy right violated through doxxing or something that.  You could ask those who wish to remain anonymous to voluntarily verify their true identity in a way that does not compromise on their privacy/anonymity right. This should be the Right Practice in True Cryptocurrency rather than resorting to activity that could put the cryptocurrency project at risk.
I think the doxxing part makes it abit challenging for me to offer advice on the project security. The project could be considered already compromised in certain situations.
1666  Economy / Economics / Re: Why is bitcoin (crypto) worth anything at all?? on: June 09, 2021, 10:34:43 AM
Read this to understand money better, and why they have value. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5268591.msg54987665#msg54987665

Where I am from, people work hard to earn money. They have to work to solve problems, customers pay the amount of money the solutions to the problems deserve. In my place, it's actually unheard of to depend on government for handout like you see mainly in advanced societies and  they manage to build standard homes, eat sufficiently etc. It's actually a shameful/strange thing to depend on government or others for handout as a able-bodied person.

A real money (hard money or money based on hardwork) is a representation of solutions to problems and that can be exchanged in a community/communities that value and accept it as good money.
When you print money out of thin air just make sure it paid to people who deserve it, don't use it to pay for things that aren't safe/useful to people, and try not to overpay or underpay.

Bitcoin or true cryptocurrency increases in price because of its deflationary feature that is aimed to help preserve values/assets/money stored in the system. It's actually a hard money because you can't over print and hand it out to people who don't deserve it. It a better financial system due to its Decentralizion, Transparency immutablity, public consensus-driven, permissionless/trustlessness, censorship resistant, privacy-friendliness/anonymity-friendliness. Fiat system or system that tries to copy it can't be trusted as they are centralized and secretive/opaque.
1667  Other / Off-topic / Re: What is the dark web? on: June 09, 2021, 09:52:52 AM
I guess Dark Web is the one with .onion or something?
I tried going through something like that (.Onions I guess) once or few times many years ago after watching a YouTube video or probably reading articles about it. It was too slow and boring to browse through,i guess with a special browser. Not sure I saw anything bad there, maybe because I focused on things that can't easily be found there.
I doubt I can use such web if it is not  Transparent, Decentralized, safe, consensus driven, and share other important ideals of True Cryptocurrency. The normal web is already too risky for me
1668  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Who is playing on Pnxbet.com right now? on: June 09, 2021, 09:22:12 AM
Hello, I discover Pnxbet.com recently by watching many E-sports streamer promoting it in my country(Philippines). The problem was i already deposit and play there for more than a weeks then I discover that they scam accusation here. They are hot on the Philippines since most of the famous streamer is promoting it. Is anyone here already experience bad against them?

Wonder why they are popular in the country... (assuming by "Hot on the Philippines" you mean it's "popular amongst the betting community in the country")? Simply because they are promoted by famous streamers?

Were you scammed or something? Do you experience problems while betting on the site? Is the site bet provable fair and secure?     Does the site encourage you to take big betting risk(gambling)? Does it encourage safe/responsible betting? Were you cheated in your betting games/competitions? Were you addicted to the site without benefitting much from it...?  Your betting activities should have little/to no bad side effects in your life and society.
Do you bet responsibly and can easily stop betting whenever without the urge to keep betting even when it's not beneficial.?

If you are not a skilled bettor or If you are not consistently profitable in your bets, it's advisable to occasionally bet with little amount you can afford to risk until you learn skills/strategies that earn you consistent profits.

Make sure the site is trustworthy and doesn't cheat you and others. Answers to the above questions will probably help you know whether it does or not.
1669  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin --- new ship of Theseus on: June 08, 2021, 04:17:50 PM
The ship remains thesame as long as its "personality" remains intact. What gives it that personality are its ideals/principles, and a strong/principled community  bounded by its good network rules.
It's important to stick to these things while replacing or improving the parts.
1670  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is DASH too Centralized? on: June 08, 2021, 03:10:25 PM
Any open source public crypto project that requires money from participants to take part in decentralized consensus could be regarded as scam, especially if it regards itself a public network that promotes true decentralization.
People have yet to realize how abominable it's in the world of decentralized cryptocurrency to require people to cough up huge amounts of money to be part of consensus.
Your hardware, encrypted unique ID should be enough to take part in true consensus.
It's very risky to take part in such cryptocurrency project even if you can afford to pay the money
1671  Economy / Economics / Re: Official says US seized cryptocurrency ransom paid to Colonial Pipeline hackers on: June 08, 2021, 02:53:41 PM
According to this article they got the hacker's private key: https://californianewstimes.com/us-says-it-has-recovered-large-portion-of-colonial-pipeline-ransom/383269/
Unclear how, but it mentions some servers being seized, so maybe they got access to a physical device. Or perhaps they got malware onto the device or there was a cooperating exchange.
That's actually pretty cool and scary at times because it can help deter the criminal activity in the cryptospace but at the same time when being held by a nefarious hands, this way of seizure could mean that any user in cryptospace is going to be on the cross hairs of that entity and it's only a matter of time.

Wonder what cryptocurrency the hacker really used.
It's actually foolish to do that on Bitcoin, seeing how transparent the network is. And I expect the Bitcoin Network participants to be able to handle the issue successfully without breaking the network rules. If the ransom was paid in something else like physical currency or gold, it would be more difficult to trace and retrieve compared to doing so on a transparent currency like Bitcoin. The activities of security agencies on the network has to be Transparent too or atleast Immutable for the sake of playing according to the rules and accountability. Bitcoin makes it easy for the security agencies , so it's important they reciprocate by being accountable.

Was the private keys really retrieved? I'm interested to know how they did it.
1672  Economy / Economics / Re: The pros and cons of going cashless on: June 08, 2021, 10:33:57 AM
Another very Important one:  With Physical currency you have reasonable control over your fund, I doubt you will get thesame level of control if use their centralized version in virtual/cashless form.
It's a bit shocking sometimes that the world/nations wanted/want cashless society based on centralized virtual currency. Who do they think controls a centralized currency system?
 Humans too careless like drunkards.

Also depends on the real meaning of the word "Cashless".... Though I have seen and heard several articles/publications claiming it's about phasing out cash or physical currencies completely
Could also mean Less Cash in a given society or Cash-is-Less, rather than Zero Cash, No Cash at all etc. That's how I tend to see certain Words with  "Less" attached to their ends

1674  Economy / Economics / Re: El Salvador plan to make BTC legal tender on: June 08, 2021, 09:44:35 AM
A credible outlet and others have given credit to this news. El Salvador is one of the Central America countries that could be considered a failed state. Little rule of law, an immense number of gangs with thousands of members... The president is probably not the best economist out there, but he may be right in choosing bitcoin as legal tender and even right on the reasons to choose it. After all, having a currency only works if you can print a lot of it and preserves its value and nowadays those are only the USD, EUR, RNM and perhaps the sterling pound to a point.

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-latin-america-57373058

The current legal tender, USD, is managed by the FED and ultimately by the US government and perhaps is justified to change that to a decentralised network that has less political motivations under certain perspective.

Interesting.

In regards to the bolded, That would be typical paper fiat currencies. Does not really preserve value long-term.
If we use Gold as money (or other similar things) that's are difficult to print or requires hardwork to print "a lot of it" their supply will be limited and the money won't be losing value like it typically happens with paper fiat.
Gold or others like it will be good Store of Value for users mainly because their price would increase long-term, making holders more valuable money rather than less. Typical modern currencies tend to make holders/savers less money long-term even if interest is paid.
1675  Other / Off-topic / Re: China Launches Copyright Protection Blockchain on: June 08, 2021, 09:08:58 AM
Interesting.

I guess Transparency (which goes with anonymity/privacy for users in uncertain/dangerous world) is part of the feature? I wonder what a Blockchain will become without Transparency and other vital features linked together.

You can always have your anonymous users verify and link their real identities to the anonymous accounts in a decentralized fashion. That can be really useful when the anonymous users need to be unmasked for committing serious crimes under anonymity, or to easily have ones data that's distributed across a network securely linked to an individual unique ID.
1676  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The fall from 65k to $30k was the best thing to ever happen to Bitcoin on: June 04, 2021, 04:18:52 PM
Bitcoin's drop from 65k to $30k is one of the best things that has ever happened.

Take a moment to consider:

-Numerous institutions sit on the sidelines waiting for your money.

-Occasionally, a crash occurs.

-News reports about it are more common.

-Over half of the value of Bitcoin is lost, but the network continues to function. Work continues on upgrades (Taproot).

-HODLing and buying the dip are more popular than ever before, according to analysts.

-The new price offers buyers a great opportunity to enter the market.

-Summer will see US banks beginning to offer cryptocurrency products.

-Banks in Germany are legally allowed to start on July 1.

It's unstoppable

Interesting.
But nothing is lost if you know how important a secure decentralized finance is. The price went down but the value remains strong.

I think it's good to see the community/people buying those dips rather than having the whale do it. Better to have the coins supply in the hands of thousands/millions of people rather than in hands of the few.
1677  Other / Off-topic / Why seek to know the future when there is a Book that already tells us precisely what will happen on: June 04, 2021, 03:54:36 PM
The Book is Holy Bible and you need "decryption keys" (which our CREATOR gives to those HE wishes to) to decrypt the truth in It and be able to understand its deep things.

The Holy Bible should be the most expensive thing in the world because of the great things it contains. Anyone who doesn't know the truth won't find it valuable. I find it unbelievable that something as valuable as that is taken for granted by the World.
It is greater than anything you can think of because it contains the direct Words of the CREATOR of Heaven and Earth. It's a sort of "time machine" that gives you the most reliable and accurate information about what will happen in the future and what happened in the past.

Please, find time to read it always and ask me any question you find confusing concerning what you read, I will gladly and happily answer you.

You can get Holy Bible in PDF or text format on the internet or places like Playstore.
Or get the audio version here: https://m.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLIxhnx0kb33ORn8RQgHH54rdJMmqaRfmd

I find New Living Translation(NLT) in audio format much easier to understand, unfortunately some parts have been recently deleted/hidden on youtube. You can find  other parts here:

1678  Economy / Economics / Re: I currently cannot own a Paypal, Bank Account, CashApp, etc on: June 04, 2021, 03:21:54 PM
I really don't fully understand why people under the age of 18 are restricted from using things like PayPal, bank account or the other. Afterall there isn't much restrictions for them when it comes to owning physical currencies why then virtual currencies?
I think they should have special account types for underage, which can be built in a way that enables parent supervise and control how their kids spend their money. I wonder if that exist already. That is the kind of coin app you should be looking for, I guess
1679  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: what do i need to be a successful trader ? on: June 04, 2021, 02:52:14 PM
A successful trader should consistently make money in whatever direction the market goes, whether up, down, bull or bear...there are lots of opportunities to earn money in either ways.

Rather than relying too much on indicators, just simply buy low and sell high for profits. If the market dips significantly you buy, buy again if it dips again... Every significant dip is a good opportunity to buy. You can also sell in similar manner for profits when price starts going up... This strategy works most of the time if you know what you are doing.

You funds could be reserved in stablecoin for gradually buy up the dips and selling high(if you need to). Do this multiple times and watch your stablecoin reserve grow.

It's important to only trader with what you can afford risk/lose, and probably use that for your learning experience. It's much easier to learn trading if you are not taking big risk(or gambling).
1680  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Centralization in BTC Decentralization on: June 04, 2021, 10:41:51 AM
Something else helps keep mining decentralized: the "Difficulty Adjustment". If a whole country bans mining for example, mining difficulty is reduced and it becomes more profitable for other miners in other countries to mine... better yet, more miners in other countries will take the place of the miners in the banned country.
There are also what is called Mining Pool (global miners pooling resources together to mine Bitcoin), which also contributes to mining decentralization.
