1641  Other / Off-topic / Re: Celebrate ? 1 year anniversary of my mask ! on: June 15, 2021, 02:58:59 PM
I have couple of them I wear once in awhile, and they really serve their purposes. I don't plan on dumping them anytime soon just incase they require people who haven't taken the vaccine to wear them.
I will probably have them as long as possible to also help me filter out bad air especially now the air may be getting polluted with things we don't know whether they are safe for us or not.
I think people who might not need them now should consider keeping just like they would have Gas masks or Fire extinguishers in case of emergency.

>Just checked the definition and it is clear enough what the phrase means... Unless you think all the aged are doing such thing, as defined by dictionary.
rent seeker,  is the latest narrative to call for those who stepping on other hard work to making a living in life, they would call themselves take the risk and they deserve the entitlement, most notoriously hard property rent seeker, there is also license copyright rent seeker, the evolved form of rent seeking, tax on top on another tax is also rent seeking, fixed income is also rent seeking, basically everything that they take zero risk and they get to live off a carefree, entitled lifestyle is itself a rent seeking.

Well, what is important is contributing sufficiently or to the best of your ability. If you reward people based on the usefulness of their good contributions, we will be depending on merit-based reward system, which would encourage other members of the society to work hard, develop themselves, contribute and earn rewards. I think you can easily get everyone to work hard if you could get them to focus on the areas of their strengths and also guarantee them their basic needs for healthy living.
Anyone who doesn't give back properly after receiving these things could be seen as a well watered/nourished plant that fail to bear fruits sufficiently or according to how much care it receives from a farmer
1643  Other / Off-topic / Re: What's your favorite outdoor activity? on: June 15, 2021, 09:55:20 AM
I spend time with my family and going to gym..
How I wish that I and my family loves to go to the gym. We cannot put that much time going to the gym and that's why we're becoming fat since years ago.

It's a good bonding time with them but you guys really are going to the gym altogether?
It is not the time mate that Hinders your family to go in gym but it is your desire and beliefs about what can Good going to gym will give us.

Some times this will take hospitalization first before we finally learn how we need to be healthy , and besides it is not GYM that we always need, because we can do physical fitness program at home together but of course with our willingness and dedication.

If we want to live healthy and maintain physical fitness, we don't have to go to the gym, I agree with you it can all be done together at home.
Do not let us depend on the gym to be able to exercise, because it is not coming to the gym that actually makes us healthy. But the strong desire
from within us to exercise and consume healthy foods so that we can maintain health. I also often exercise now with my family at home, if I want
to exercise outside I just run on the road around the house.

Ofcourse.
I actually prefer to exercise by solving some problems within the environment/home. Should be problems that require enough physical activities or physical movements of the body to solve. This is a more efficient way of using your energy... because you are solving multiple problems by excersing the body and solving problem around you, especially those that benefit others. The gym may be needed when you need to exercise or work on specific parts of the body

1644  Other / Off-topic / Re: 1 kilo Gold or 2 Bitcoin on: June 15, 2021, 09:22:18 AM
I will actually choose Bitcoin. I will probably sell some part of the Bitcoin and buy a bit of Gold rather than getting the gold bar and struggling to sell it legally/morally to people who need it. Besides I wouldn't be buying gold to use it as a store of value. I doubt you can use it easily during serious global crisis which I suspect people are preparing for. So I will probably buy some and give it short-term to businesses  as collateral in exchange for some good/sustainable investment that can help the society and be profitable.
A well decentralized Bitcoin could work really well during serious global crisis. There are even the possibility of using it completely offline in crisis ridden areas if you could safely print the private keys on something physical, durable, long-lasting, easily divisible, can withstand harsh conditions etc. The users can always verify the keys authenticity whenever they are able to connect to the internet.
1645  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Perfect Bitcoin on: June 11, 2021, 04:30:43 PM
I think he will continue to improve on its features, plus add new ones to secure and have it do more useful things better. I doubt he will allow its strong ideals be compromised while trying to get it work better unless he has forgotten why Bitcoin was created in the first place or he's no longer threatened by the badly run traditional financial systems.
1646  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is bitcoin anonymous? on: June 11, 2021, 04:03:24 PM
The anonymity of Bitcoin is a major feature of Bitcoin. If we transfer money, we cannot find out who the other party is.

Or we simply don't know the name of the other party.

It's hard for me to call Bitcoin Anonymous considering the definition of Anonymous.
Seems Anonymous is used only for someone whose name is unknown, which is completely fine/ok in "Crypto" space.
Besides, Bitcoin has a name (Name: Bitcoin) but it's not a person
So we could simply say it's Anonymity Friendly or Users can be Anonymous
1647  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Don't we have too many smart contract platforms already? on: June 11, 2021, 03:33:31 PM
I guess any cryptocurrency should be able to have its own smart contract as it's an important/necessary feature of crypto. Perhaps we need unique and improved smart contracts rather than having most of them doing almost thesame thing with no reasonable improvement to copied idea.
What seems to be lacking today is smart contract that can do more advanced tasks without compromising on decentralized. The existing ones are very limited in what they can do
1648  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin has intrinsic value like Gold but better? on: June 11, 2021, 02:57:29 PM
One of the main problems with gold being used as store of value, as money, plus the industrial uses by the entire world is the sustainability. You can't sustain the production of something as scarce  as that for the huge world population without harming the environment. Could even cause war/conflict because you'll have to keep digging wherever it can be found to satisfy human insatiable lust for the precious metal.
1649  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Mining Council on: June 11, 2021, 10:32:17 AM
Well, I think you can't create a mining council with powers over part of Bitcoin Network without the consent of all/most Bitcoin "stakeholders"/participants, otherwise Bitcoin would easily be attacked and conquered through the backdoor. I think they should derive whatever power they need from the majority of Bitcoin citizens and "stakeholders"... by citizens I mean people who strongly believe in its ideals/principles and uphold them.
1650  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: question about privacy coin Grin on: June 11, 2021, 10:14:36 AM
It was not very user friendly and people didn't know how to use it. They didn't have addresses and both users had to be online to complete a transaction. It was originally supposed to be a Bitcoin sidechain but they decided to launch their own coin, which made bitcoiners skeptical of this project. Making it very hard to use and pissing off your target audience is not a good recipe for creating a successful cryptocurrency. There was also a claim that their privacy had been broken. Mimblewimble might still live on in Litecoin and some other projects but I don't know if Grin will ever bounce back.

Interesting.

I guess it would have been an interesting privacy feature to Bitcoin network if it hadn't been a seperate cryptocurrency.. Also considered that it does not have addresses, and both sender and reciever need to be online. And it doesn't seem transparent... probably would have benefited from Bitcoin transparency if it was part of the Network.
I think I was actually excited about the coin mainly because reputable and knowledgeable people in Crypto space back then were excited about it.
I have forgotten about it because people don't talk much about it for a while now.
1651  Economy / Economics / Re: Human productivity on: June 11, 2021, 09:31:07 AM
On August 15, 1971, President Richard Nixon announced that the United States would no longer convert dollars to gold at a fixed value, thus completely abandoning the gold standard. So now Fiat currencies are simply IOU's for debt on a piece of paper or on a coin... because governments are printing fiat currencies like toilet paper.  Roll Eyes

Crypto currencies removed the government and private Banks to eliminate their manipulation of our wealth, so now we can deal directly between each other, without a 3rd party controlling our wealth.  Wink  (Some people use 3rd party services like centralized wallets and exchanges, so they give back control to governments..because these services are regulated)  Sad

Interesting. .
Doesn't mean we can't have decentralized wallets and exchanges that work more morally/legally than the centralized wallets and exchanges.
I think network participants could have hard-coded & automated rules (that do not violent the ideals/principles of Blockchain) working in the background to keep decentralized cryptospace safe. A well built decentralized cryptocurrency can even be used to easily check centralized powers and their tendency to be corrupt.
1652  Other / Off-topic / Re: The risk of cybersecurity on the adoption of blockchain technologies on: June 11, 2021, 09:03:30 AM
The root cause of the attacks is sin and rebellion against the CREATOR. As sin increases, such attacks and other evil increases too.
Ofcourse, I expect hypocrites to look for scape goat instead of focusing on tackling evil and lawlessness in society.
The problem with blaming others is that they will desire a false "messiah" who will try to restrict or takeaway the freedom things like cryptocurrency offer, for "peace and safety" of those who will be deceved...And they will accept the mark of the false messiah in order to live safely under his protection.
1653  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcointalk forum mobile app on: June 10, 2021, 04:25:21 PM
I think it's a good idea, cuz it's horrible to use the forum in mobile browser

Depends on the kind of mobile browser. I actually find it abit difficult to use on large mobile browsers like Chrome, Firefox,  Opera etc. Sometimes it is responsive or adjust really well to the browsers.   It always works really well on certain kind of lite browser like operamini.  If a site doesn't works well on a lite browser for me , I may avoid it completely unless it's unavoidable. Opening multiple tabs of bulky/heavy sites just task my device processor, slows down the device and makes it hot easily.
1654  Other / Off-topic / Re: My post collections on "Gambling Discussion" Section on: June 10, 2021, 03:33:48 PM
Gambling should be treated the same as alcohol in my opinion. It should be done in moderation as it can take over people's life and cause them to sin with, that being said their is nothing inherently sinful about it.

A gambling addict is ultimately someone who loses the perspective to do the math on their losses, and dreams constantly of the big reward that might be.
Not to compare in alcohol but iN Drugs because the gambling addiction can make people do unnecessary things that he cannot do when he is drunk.

this can make people commit suicide also because of desperation .

It's actually interesting that the commenter you quoted included addiction in his post. Didn't actually pay attention to his/her post yesterday because I thought it was trolling judging by the name. Interestingly I was moved to post about addiction when I saw the poster's name while going through topics on  "off topic" section.

You can see couple of faults in his/her comment if you pay close attention.
Gambling is taking big risk. It doesn't make sense to ask people to Gamble in Moderation... makes no sense at all. Sounds contradictory.
The proper words should be Bet in Moderation
1655  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Why do people say hardware wallets are unhackable? on: June 10, 2021, 03:18:19 PM
Nope, at least there aren't any documented cases as far as I know(as with Ledger/Trezor/Coldcard). Though I really don't recommend it (because I'm just paranoid, sometimes a bit too much), you should be able to use a hardware wallet and make a transaction using a malware-infested device because in the first place the main purpose of the hardware wallet is so the private keys won't be exposed.

The only known way you can lose funds using a hardware wallet using a malware-infested device, is when the device your using has a clipboard hijacker whereas you actually send the funds to the hacker's wallet address; but this should be easily preventable if you double check the address recipient on your hardware wallet when making the transaction.

Yes, we see a lot of hacking complaints on the Ledger and Trezor subreddit and other communities, but they're because of ignorance and carelessness of the hardware wallet user, not the fault of the hardware wallet(or the manufacturer) itself.

Interesting.
Wish I could see examples of such complaints to know whose fault it really is.
I always thought a good practice is to anticipate such careless users/customers and make the products as fool-proof/fraud-proof as possible.

1656  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum Web3 Stack Distributed Storage Platform— Swarm on: June 10, 2021, 03:02:41 PM
Like what I saw on the internet about this. Could be nice idea I hope doesn't get ruined by a consensus mechanism. Anyone should be able to easily join and contribute to the Network without much restrictions if they really want it truely decentralized.
This space should be different from centralized space. The focus should always be decentralization.
1657  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The Graph GRT - the Google of blockchain - your thoughts on: June 10, 2021, 10:51:21 AM
Something like this will need to be well decentralized, with the right rules and enough "checks & balances"  put in place to prevent abuse. I'm always worried about Centralized tech getting unrestricted access to autonomous public network with poor privacy/anonymity and security.
1658  Economy / Economics / Re: A rent seeking based economy is destined to failed, young men valuable productiv on: June 10, 2021, 10:35:18 AM
I don't think the ones who are old should considered rent seekers. Just checked the definition and it is clear enough what the phrase means... Unless you think all the aged are doing such thing, as defined by dictionary.

The problem for the world is to figure out how to make very good use of old people in their midst. I believe if you ask them what good things they would love to do always that can be used to benefit others/society, they will provide good reasonable/viable list.
Just put all of them in their various departments and they will be useful to society
1659  Economy / Economics / Re: Human productivity on: June 10, 2021, 09:55:14 AM
In the past, people farmed and exchanged the surplus grain harvested in autumn for rare, unchanging gold. Then give the gold to a trusted person in exchange for his IOU. When you finish eating your own grain, you can exchange the IOU for gold and then exchange for grain.
Now and in the future, we will replace the surplus production with a rare, trustworthy and unchangeable Bitcoin, and it can be quickly exchanged for the product we want in any corner of the world. We no longer have to work hard to carry these gold and IOUs.
In fact, in a few years, I often imagined how to send money conveniently on the Internet. After thinking of Bitcoin, I found that Bitcoin, which has solved scarcity, trust and immutability, is money itself, and it is digital gold that is easy to use.

Ofcourse, Bitcoin has alot of similarities with gold but that doesn't necessarily make it a digital gold.
I actually like the part about how certain people in old exchange their surplus farm produce for gold and then IOU, and back to grain again, right? Is the grain collector (or buyer?) acting as a grain custodian, a grain reserve or warehouse for storing surplus harvest? So, if the farmer decides not to take back grain, he then owns the Gold, right? Or is the farmer simply selling the grain for Gold? Trying to see how sustainable it would be to act as a reserve & collect farm produces from farmers who don't want to struggle hard to sell them. Maybe collect the farm produces abit less than the market price and give the farmers coins.

In regards to the giving to "trusted" persons, If we have such persons in this generation, we will probably not need Bitcoin/crypto

1660  Other / Off-topic / Re: People of btctalk, what kind of pet do you have at home? on: June 10, 2021, 09:10:42 AM
A goat 🐐.

as pet?

is it true?

well , i have seen someone with pet pig so its possible ti have goat as pet.

The goats are supposed to be very effective as lawn mowers. I'm considering getting a few goats to mow my lawn.
Much cheaper than a robotic lawnmower.  Cool

Guess "feeding" on the lawn is what you mean by "mow" in the goat case.

It's actually good to get the animals busy solving problems that benefit others rather than just let them eat, get fat and pampered like children. We all have roles we need to serve that benefit not just ourselves but others, and the world. I don't think it's a good to assign all the roles to machines/robots.

Anyway, I wonder if goats can "mow" the grass as good as the lawn mower, and there is a possibility of overgrazing or ruinning of the lawn by the goats. I guess you'll need to move them from the lawn when the grass needs help or has been eaten down enough.
The lawn benefits from the goats "droppings".

This can be tried in rural areas and not really city or town. I will probably allow residents to use gentle, colorful and less noisy animal if I were a city/town administrator
