Awarding test status to Netherlands may be too optimistic at this point. Compared to other countries such as Scotland and Ireland, cricket in Netherlands have been on the decline for some time. There is no help from the ICC and with every passing year less number of native players are seen in club cricket. As per some estimates, around 70% of the players now in Netherlands are non-native (mostly from India and Pakistan). This trend will continue as locals continue to lose interest in the sport (Scotland and Ireland are far better in this regard).

It's mostly because of lose ICC regulations that countries are building teams of expats like we see UAE, Oman teams. If ICC has regulations that only native players can be part of team then this won't happen. In 21st century no new country has been given full test status only Afghanistan has got a partial status. New countries are only interested in T20.

ENGLAND WOMENS MAKE THE SEMI-FINAL!
A 100-run victory by England over Bangladesh earned them a spot in the semi-finals of the World Cup! I wish all the best for the next matches of the England women's teams. After a horrendous start at the World Cup, they have won their last four games in a row. I agree that Bangladesh, Pakistan, and West Indies were free points in this World Cup. These countries have made progress in women's cricket, but they still have a long way to go.

You are right West Indies gave free points to strong teams like New Zealand and England by beating them. If India lost today's game then West Indies will be in the semis along with Australia, England and South Africa. Pakistan and Bangladesh fail to produce some good results in this WC. Pakistan have a strong domestic setup for men cricket but not for women.

Don't know what's going on with England team at the moment. This will be upset and i am sure lots of people will lose their bets. England were favorites and more people bet in their favor.

With this win, West Indies will also with the test series. That's something big for the WI and again this result is not what every gambler anticipated and again a loss in bets by masses.

I don't think it's an upset. England already lost ODI series here in West Indies while the first two matches ended in a draw. If you go a bit back, England just manage to survive 5-0 in Ashes. England still have two wickets left, they need some megical stuff like Joshua Da Silva did lower down the order.

An easy win for New Zealand team today over Pakistan. New Zealand gave target of 265 runs and Pakistan concluded there WC journey by 71 runs short of that target. So far only Australia and SA have qualified for the semi finals. England have one match left with weak Bangladesh while India has to face mighty SA in there last encounter. Its

An exciting news to share:
For the first time since 2016, Australia will be touring Sri Lanka for an all-format series. During June-July this year, two Tests, five one-day internationals and three Twenty-20 matches will be played. The test matches are expected to be played in Galle and Colombo, while the limited overs matches will be played in Kandy and Colombo. June will be a difficult month for Aussies, especially with the hot weather. All of these games will be important to the team.

This is indeed a good new for Sri Lanka cricket and cricket fans in Sri Lanka. This shows that Australians have given up the policy of touring countries of there own choice. Right now they are touring  Pakistan after 24 years and now going to  SL after after 6 years.
Last time Australia was whitewashed by SL in test, can they do that again.

Mate, you are going into wrong way right now it's very profitable business without any match fixing as well because now franchise teams have too many options for better profit with having some good performance as well which is possible without fixing any match or involving gambling.

Secondly if we have any proof then still no one can do anything because it's all manipulated under supervision of ICC, so we don't need to in more details but just want to clear few things with involvement of television rights and advertising they can take some good profit as we watch recently in PSL even it's small league in comparison for IPL, but all franchise have some good profit from PCB which is very good just because of this now many countries trying to have their own Leagues but still and without any doubt IPL could be leaders in fan base and profit no one can challenge their spot for this.

Can you please come up with stats that how much they invest and how much they earn. Even there is betting on which player will get most money that why we see player like Ishan Kishan getting 15.25 crore, he hardly is player of 5 million INR.
Just do some maths and you will come to know nay be a single fix match can give money more the media rights. Just my few satoshis. Enjoy the IPL.

I was really excited when the ICC included Netherlands in the ODI super league. But even after 3 years, they have played only two or three matches against the full members, as the test nations continue to ignore the scheduling requirements. And now the ICC has also backtracked and they have removed the ODI super league as well. This is going to be very demoralizing for the smaller teams like Netherlands. Already the number of teams with native players are going down, and cricket can't afford to lose countries such as the Netherlands.

I remember Netherlands were part of world cup 1996 but still they couldn't get test status. Cricket badly needs more countries as there are only handful regular test playing countries. Cricket need to be spread out to EU, America,  Afrcia and South East Asia. Right now Cricket is among top sports only coz its popular in heavily populated countries of India, Pakistan and Bangladesh.

True. At first, I thought that Pat Cummins was a complete idiot, after he declared with a lead of just 351 runs. The pitch was very flat and not offering much support for the bowlers. Somehow Nathan Lyon managed to bowl exceptionally and combined with some senseless batting display from the Pakistanis, they managed to win the match as well as the series. And the Pakistanis should be ashamed that they managed to lose the series despite preparing such substandard pitches. Next time hopefully they would refrain from going in to 100% defensive mode.

Aussies bowled out Pakistanis in both innings at 268 and 235, still your flat pitch theory is in place. I think its perfect test pitch. Pakistan got a good start but they are too good in collapsing at any moment of the game. Pakistan was relying too much on Rizwan and Fawad, they both failed on that day.
Still it's a big win for PCB as test series concluded successfully and hopefully same will be true for white ball matches.
249  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: March 25, 2022, 11:25:39 AM

Draw not going to happen now. Just one wicket left for Pakistan and soon Pakistan will be all out. With this, the Australians will not only win the match but also a test series. How good is it that you visit a country after twenty-four years and succeed in winning the historic moment?

All credit goes to the Australian captain Cummins, who had the faith in his bowling and took a good declaration.

Yes the credit for this victory goes to this daring move by Australian captain. Australian have won the 3rd test by 115 runs and with this theory of 'Flat Pitch' also comes to an end. This match will end in a draw if Aussies would have gone for a target of 400 to 450 runs.

I am not much interested in the IPL. I have always preferred international cricket over franchise cricket. And IPL may have the star power, but at the same time, it is full of negative influences. There have been multiple instances of match fixing within the IPL. While players like Sreesanth and Shakib al Hassan were punished for their roles, the franchise owners were let off. As far as T20 cricket is concerned, I still prefer ICC tournaments such as the T20 World Cup and Asia Cup over IPL and other franchise leagues.

In franchise every play for himself just to make sure his stats are good so he gets handsome bid in the auction. There is limited concept of team in T20 league. There is so much money in IPL, the only way to recover that money is through fixing and other such means. There is no proof of this so no one can voice against it.
ICC T20 events are helpless in front of T20 leagues since ICC don't have that much money.

The way the Australian women's team is moving forward, no other team can afford to hold them back. They are playing great. Won all 6 matches. And every match they have dominated. They are equally strong in both bowling and batting. The title cannot be snatched from the Australian women's team unless a miracle occurs. Although India and England are good teams, they are failing to perform as well on a regular basis as Australia.

After beating Bangladesh they have completed there first stage with no loss, 7 out of 7 they have won. Australia is definitely favorite for this WC but we can't say with certainty that they will win. Teams like WI and SA are performing good and they can be as good as Australia on semi final day.
252  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: March 25, 2022, 09:43:38 AM
Really surprised with the aggressive stance taken by Australia. They set a target of 351 runs, which is clearly not enough in batting friendly conditions. And Pakistan has got a good start, and they just need 278 runs more. Right now, I would say that Pakistan are the favorites to win this match (and the series as well). The Australian captain made a mistake here, and he should have also remembered that his spinners are not performing well. And now Pakistan is going to end up with some valuable points in the WTC table.

Not a bad move at all by Cummins as they have got 5 wickets so far and surely will get 5 wickets before stumps today. 43 overs still left for todays play. Pakistan will only look to draw this match they won't score 170 more runs in front of strong Aussie bowling. Pakistani team wasn't able to take advantage of this flat pitch.
253  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: March 24, 2022, 05:20:56 AM

As per the ICC rules for the World Test Championship (WTC), each full member need to conduct at least one test series against each of the remaining 9 full members, and there should be a minimum of 2 test matches in each of these series. So the national boards are forced to include test matches in their itinerary, even if they have little interest in doing so. And this is one of the reasons why I always say that the WTC has made cricket more boring. Ideally national teams should only play one test series (2-3 matches) per year.

Thanks for sharing this, never knew that boards are forced to include test matches in every tour. I think since there is lots of t20 going on in the form of T20 leagues and t20 WC ( which at times is happening every year or two years), ICC has issued such regulations on test.
But for your delight IPL is starting and you can enjoy entertaining cricket instead of boring test.
254  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: March 24, 2022, 05:10:07 AM

Don't expect any leniency from the BCCI. There are 38 first class teams in India and that means that we have some 500-600 regular first class players. Out of this pool, only around 20% get an opportunity to participate in the IPL. For the remaining players, there are hardly any avenues to showcase their talent. If they were allowed to participate in some of the foreign leagues, then it would have been mutually beneficial for both the sides. I don't think that the IPL will suffer a big setback, if players such as Siddhesh Lad, Sai Sudharsan or Dhruv Patel participate in a few foreign leagues.

I guess the policy is changed, as Hanuma Vihari Among Seven Indian Cricketers Sign Up For Dhaka Premier League (source). Not all first class players made it to national squad rather end up there career playing domestic cricket. If bcci allow atleast it's domestic players to go and participate in other leagues then it will be help them financially also and lessen load on bcci also.

Congratulations to Bangladesh. But at the same time, I am appalled at the horrific state of cricket in South Africa. How can they lose like this? It was a completely lopsided match, with Bangladesh winning by 9 wickets (24 overs to spare). Those who have been around for a while would remember that South Africa was the strongest cricketing nation during the 1990s. They were the favorites to win the 1999 World Cup (in which they lost the semi-finals). I guess two decades of quota policy and the installation of a quota product as the captain has completely destroyed them.

If you see performance of SA this year then it's fairly good. They levelled test series against New Zealand and wining test and odi against India. Just when we're saying that SA is regaining its lost glory this happened. Asian teams don't have good record when playing at SA but it's understandable as SA is no more strong team of 90s.
Congrats to Bangladesh, may be it's revival of cricket in Bangladesh.
256  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: March 24, 2022, 04:52:10 AM

That's not dominating record looks like imo.

Pak vs SA,   series draw 1-1 (2013-2014)
Pak vs SL,   series draw 1-1 (2013-2014)
Pak vs Aus,  Pak won 2-0 (2014-2015)
Pak vs NZ,   series draw 1-1 ( 2014-15)
Pak vs Eng,  Pak won 2-0 (2015-16)
Pak vs WI,   Pak won 2-1 (2016-17)
Pak vs SL,   SL won 2-0 (2017)
Pak vs Aus,  Pak won 1-0 ( 2018-19)
Pak vs NZ,   NZ won 2-1 ( 2018-19)

So they beat twice Australia and once England, these stats clearly indicates Pakistan stand among top teams IMO. If someone says that after all these wins Pakistan is a weak team then I would not involve in arguments since that will be of no use.
Yes I do agree that India is unbeaten at home and very strong when they play on there own pitches. But there dilemma is they can't produce same results when touring countries like Aus, NZ IMO.
257  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: March 23, 2022, 03:16:17 PM

If we're going by the norms then top teams definition is dominating at home and more or less competitive when playing away from home

So atm Pakistan is hardly a top team in the Red ball cricket. They have a long way to go if they want to be a top tier team, ingredients and signs are there to reach the top but they have to play at least 3-4 years of good cricket against top ranking teams.

In future if they manage to conquer at least 2 SENA countries and start dominating at home then i would say yeah they are strong team, till then this sort of statement doesn't hold any weightage IMO.

If Pakistan is not top team then who else is ? India, who lost everything in South Africa tour and then invited Sri Lanka and Afghanistan at home to regain the form. If that's the criteria for being a strong team then I admit Pakistan is a weak team.
There is hardly any cricket in Pakistan in last ten years and they dominated every series played at UAE
258  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: March 23, 2022, 02:06:09 PM

This is wrong as last IPL season (partly) was held in the UAE with all Indian top players were involved in this, and they have some good practice on these pitches with this all they can manage some good but sadly their time were not good and they completely down and out in this event.

BCCI not allowing their players for other T10 or T20 Leagues it is completely their own decision with just for greediness and having some good advantage in their own league and if this is hurting their players then is just their own mistake they have to manage things for them as they prepare for all conditions if they feel not good about this system that their players will not play in any other franchise league. Now we have next world cup in Australia after seven months, hopefully things could be completely different for these Asian teams.

Australian pitches are made for Aussie players. Asian teams specially India who perform too good at home usually face lots of problems in Australia. Its 7 months to go, don't know what team conditions will be at that time. Right now it looks like Australia is the sole hot favorite for men T20 WC just like there women are for current ODI.
259  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: March 23, 2022, 02:01:22 PM

Eight wickets already down, Bangladeshi bowlers are in such attack mode that they are not letting any runs through, while also ensuring regular wickets. With the calculated bowling, Taskin Ahmed gives minimal runs and registers 5 wickets for himself. Throughout the entire series, South Africa has been very unsettled, but Bangladesh has a well-settled side.

Is Bangladesh in with a chance of winning its first series in South Africa? Definitely, but it depends on Bangladesh's batters.

Bangladesh must not lose this game after the hard work done by there bowler's. Taskeen Ahmed bowled perhaps the most memorable spell of Bangladesh ODI history by taking 5 wickets. 154 is a small target and should be easily chased by Bangladeshi batsmen.
260  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: March 23, 2022, 01:57:58 PM

If this scenario pans out then final day is going to be very exciting  or what if Australia also face some sort of collapse tomorrow? After all Pakistan bowlers are not dummy.

People are mostly criticising pitch but no one ignoring that these are two top teams of the current era. Pakistan today collapsed after scoring fair amount of runs prior to that they were all out on 148 runs. Australia will definitely try to give target of 350 runs, anything less then that will be really risky.
