well turning 2500usd 1 million coins into 65000usd average sale of 6.5 cents a coin works fine. now he turned 1500usd 600k coins into 120,000 if he cashes them. at the moment he has zero I have 65000 usd. which was changed into btc and some mining gear. yea, i was mostly kidding, but one comment stands: you were probably slicing it too close together lately (every penny). I understand to have a penny interval when it was 2c or 3c, but at 14c-1 penny is too narrow. However, any money made is a good money. |

COIN will close the day at 250$  Fuck fuck fuck Wall Street. So fucking corrupt. I just did the math. Had the public been able to invest directly in Coinbase stock pre-IPO back in 2013 at $0.20/share like the exclusive angel investors, they'd all be up 1250X their investment. Likely much better off than just putting that money into Bitcoin in late 2013. (Although I'm not saying not to buy Bitcoin, that's a no-brainer to own the underlying asset directly). This is why the 1% gets filthy rich on stonks, while the general public gets shut out of the game. Yes, and this inability to invest early in some Internet companies (FB, GOOGL) was the reason I had an eye on bitcoin's meritocracy. The way SEC, CFTC, etc ACTIVELY preclude regular people to invest early is appalling. To my knowledge, no other OECD country does it. They want to have a ruling class and a permanent underclass with specific rules about "accredited investor' ($1 mil). Now they invented even more gradations: qualified investor ($5mil), qualified purchaser, etc. In addition, now (since 2017) they preclude US investors to invest in basically any token, not that many here cares, but still. They (SEC) are basically pauperizing the american population. I am not sure why I am upset about it, since I DGAF anymore. |

Sell Coinbase shares for dirty fiat 2. Wait for buying opportunity 3. Buy bitcoin ... we are currently at step 1. Step 3. will be at their leisure, but not before too long. Hmm, referring back to the original discussion below, it more or less happening as described (at least in part), albeit you might be right and EVENTUALLY, like within 1-14 days, some of them would use raised cash to buy btc. ... Coinbase IPO will release tens of billions of fiat into the hands of long time bitcoin savy enthusiasts and maximalists, who are least likely to want to have the new dosh sit in fiat

IMHO, you are getting it exactly backwards, at least at first. Some institutions will sell btc and buy Coinbase IPO, unless WS plays some trick to push Coinbase down temporarily, like they did with FB. In fact, I see roughly 50% chance of the latter scenario happening. |

I'm all for coinbase doing the IPO and being the "first crypto company to get on nasdaq" BUT the only question I have is.. If you sit on money to invest, why would you buy coinbase stock vs buying btc? Enlighten me someone?
You cannot buy bitcoin in your typical tax-advantageous accounts (in US), such as IRA and Roth IRA. Theoretically, you can if you open something called self-directed IRA, but it is a hassle and they have yearly fees, typically. You can buy GBTC and COIN there, though. A simple explanation. Most US people have a bulk of their investable money in those entities (IRA and Roth IRA). Gotcha, so it's for tax purposes more or less? How does it work if you buy BTC direct, no tax cuts or otherwise? yes and plus, as i mentioned, you are not allowed to trade btc in most IRAs, but you can trade stocks (like GBTC and COIN). BTW, it looks like that WS wants to play COIN the same way they played FB (push it down first). They probably think that this drop might entice more employees to sell. Right now those employees are probably on pins and needles since they could have sold it in pre-IPO sales for $470 and now the price is $100 lower. $580 on FTX looks like a joke (for now). |

Low tax jurisdictions, like Singapore, now have the advantage. The can simply develop this. I wonder if more countries would follow this route. Of course, in btc you are taxed as cap gains only (in US and as long as you don't mine). |

OT: Just for reference...since I did not have any side effect and after my second pfizer shot the shoulder was not even sore, I decided to check for Ab at Labcorp (self-directed, so it cost $10 out of pocket). The result shows >250 u/ml with more than 0.8 u/ml considered positive for Ab.
I am posting this for those who did not have any (or minimal) side effects.
As you can see, there is no correlation.

it is not trading yet. you know at what time it will start for trading ? I dont see any info.. they usually give 30 min notice, and i don't see such notice yet. should be within 1-1.5 hr, at the latest, though. |

Anyhow, I am having some trouble relating to anyone who has known about bitcoin, and who had been into BTC for 7 years or so to actually have only in the neighborhood of 1 BTC.. even though I do understand that there might be ways of explaining it, it seems to not be a very good example of how to approach this asset class.
Being poor, being born into a shit situation/location, living paycheck to paycheck, and sometimes not even that.. That’s why I have been so adamant about NOT selling, because these lottery tickets are basically irreplaceable.. Were, even at sub 10k levels.. I’ve managed to get and hold onto more than one, but any pragmatic person in many of my past situations would have sold them all to keep up in real life, but I did not, and still will not.. I’m doing much better these days, but not everyone have disposable income for wild investments.. On another note, I bet half or more of DT1 on this forum can’t even sign a half a Bitcoin, much less one whole Bitcoin.. Many not even 1/4 or even 1/10th a coin.. How do you feel about most of the democratically elected community leadership on this forum (DT) don’t even have any skin in the game? Especially the 3rd world althunter circle with +10 positive trust each in a circlejerk for “finding alts” and being obsessed with leaving red tags.. Most not even having 1/4mm sat to rub together.. Doesn’t seem like the most optimal situation to me.. What do you think? A good analysis of life's travails. DT1? You mean on bitcoin forum ? Sorry, i don't follow that DT thingie. |

My man in Havana sends me this screenshot of the tokenised Greymarket of COIN US: 580 USD per shares means almost 200 BLN of market cap. YUGE.  Expect some rollercoaster, on COIN, but BTC also. Buy the rumor, sell the news is the favorite whale past-time. Why buy overpriced COIN, when we have btc and.....doge (kidding)? I had some $ in ret account allocation prepared for COIN, but 100% sure will not buy at 580 or anything close to it. Will observe with awe, hopefully. |

By the By today is my 8th Year Anniversary of finding out about Bitcoin! April 13th, 2013!
I have memories of buying my first bitcoin in April 2011, and I just searched my email to see if I could fit the exact date. 27th of May OK, close enough. Wiring $500 to MtGox. Sketchy as frig. I just don't have my original forums account here, someone nicked it. that should have been about 50 btc, give or take aka $3mil today. |

That's not a great strategy, Biodom.. especially for a longer term bitcoiner.. and likely demonstrates that you inadequately pee pared ur lil selfie (baby talk intended) for UPpity. Actually, it works pretty well. When I need to spend btc, I buy to replace it, hence the word "replacement". As of now, I do not foresee selling btc (reducing it), with caveats, of course. Baby talk aside, don't be nosy..my preparedness is none of your biz wax. |

Margins might declines, so, yes, 150bil is rich. At 50-75bil, I might bite, but it is not very likely in a short term.
It will probably be a good buy at the end of the bear market of 2022-2023.
You think Stock market will go Bearish by the End of 2021? I was mostly referring to bitcoin "winter" season and yes, it is likely to happen..maybe by the end of 2021, maybe a bit later. No guarantees, of course. |

Also, is your 127.2 years accounting for medical?
Some countries are less skimpy in providing medical care to their citizens as US of A. There is that. Yea, I know, they had to pay bigger and badder taxes in the interim, but the sight of 60-61 year olds being fired en masse by the efficient US corporate system with such people having to fill 5 years doing some random work to pass the time until Medicare kicks in (at 65) is something that you cannot think about positively, really. This is not my situation, mind you, but a good friend of ours was let go at 61 (from highly specialized company) and had to move back to Canada (her native land) to get medical care after being in US for most of her adult life. Otherwise, in US it is ACA, which does not allow any decent money to be made before slapping $20K/year or above cost on you for minimal benefits. We like to be brutal to our constituents/citizens, but, hey, bitcoin ownership fixes this. |
