Salah must be first choice for sure, he is the only that will play 180 minutes unless some injury or red card happen. I can see all other attackers and both Trent & Robbo as minutes risk. They will play a lot but not 2 full games.

Problem is, Salah is so damn expensive so not easy to include in our mid. I want another Liverpool player as well but have no idea who will that be at this moment.

Robbo over Trent. He always plays, and his form has been good, and Klopp trusts him more, but you're right, he'll get 70 because Tsimikas is a great stand in.

Milner too for Trent, actually, depending on how the game goes (always used to stem the counters after we get a lead), so both fullbacks aren't really full value.

Best to wait for Real game to pass, the way this team is going, I worry the most about injury.

Whoops, can you believe I almost forgot to watch the time? And in a panic, forgetting 6pm was forum time and not me time, instead of doing research, rushed my picks; the day is suddenly too short for me, trying to finish everything before Liverpool tonight!

(that's my excuse if I do badly)

This sort of competition would really suffer if somebody chooses rounds when he participates so we have to be firm and exclude players like that soonest possible. We are not counting late submissions as strike, unless it becomes a pattern for somebody.

Couldn't agree more. I doubt we'll see too many, and we have to probably account for new players getting used to it -- but also account for people who might miss a round or two (speaking for my idiot self of course). It's a league, so it'll affect others across the table. You guys have your hands full, but am also confident the participants selected are of good stock!

I'm glad that I decided not to sacrifice my sleep and didn't watched it. In past it used to be more cmpetetive and interesting. Now I watched highlights and there is just some 1 on 1 plays, while all other players are literally standing and chilling. Not my stuff.

I didn't know much about it but I assumed all these "all-star" games are exhibition matches, same as football generally. Not competitive, glamour friendly just to feel good about each other. That said, never watched a full game in my life, so I am basing my experience on random sampling of games that happen to be on TV when I tuned in.

P.S. Branthwaite been in the news all the day today, and seems he is already opening up channels with Dyche at Everton. Decided to celebrate with a yellow card.

yeah, Eindhoven is getting far from the title, with each round, but Feyenoord won important battle against AZ, to keep up momentum, will they survive is hard to tell

regarding Branthwaite, he did not ruled out moving to Liverpool at the end of the season, and IMO it is hard to expect him getting back to Everton, even if we stay in EPL (which should be the case with Dyche), and yeah, he is scoring for PSV almost regularly lately, so yellow card should be forgiven

Sort of makes me feel slightly regretful I didn't take some outrights earlier, but I haven't really felt too amazed at this point. It's too many games left for them to slip out.

Dyche will keep you there yeah, don't know if Brandthwaite fill feel the attraction of his brand of football though, but loanees are always going to go for something stable I think. A bit of a shame with his unfulfilled potential. Think he'll be up for it against Sevilla, no better time to meet the old Europa stalwarts!

Somehow I don't think you will get entry from tomahawk, just hope he got fed up with forum or something and that it wasn't some serius real life situation that removed him from our pools.

Liverpool - Real is the highlight of this week and it was about time LFC got some semblance of form. Now we could have a cracking match.

Yeah me too, he was always one of the most active (in my mind, stretching back to the very first pool). Just hope he got fed up of forum, as you said, and chose the World Cup to just end it. Don't even really know where he came from.

I'm absolutely preparing myself tonight to watch the whole game, uninterrupted. Food will be ordered, no cooking for me, no work. Just game and the forum maybe Wink

~snip

Porto for sure can be the upset of the week -- City will probably get 5-0.

interesting
I am leaning toward Leipzig to make City life pretty much difficult, maybe not that difficult to pass through, but 5:0 is as far from my expectations, as result can be

at this form, and Bundesliga opponents, I cannot imagine that odds on Napoli are higher than odds on City, they are in great form, and playing weaker opponent, City is a bit better team, but that should be connected with form as well

It wasn't meant as disrespect to Leipzig at all, I just am aware of a Haaland who's frustrated and when he gets these "droughts" he opens up massively.

Bookies are disrespectful of Napoli though. I'm pleased, because I've been spamming Napoli on my tickets and they've seldom let me down. It's a huge boost to a few of my accas (not to mention I need them to win to help register my freebet as a win heh).
2406  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Sportsbet.io ⚽ Spanish La Liga ⚽ Football Pool Discussion Thread 2022/2023 on: February 21, 2023, 01:32:52 PM
Sevilla shat the bed, shame if we're surprised.
Yeah there is a good reason why we avoid teams like Sevilla on our tickets. I was even tempted by them today since they were starting to show some semblance of the form in recent weeks. They even managed to record some solid results but in typical Sevilla fashion they blow it up as soon as we start to believe a little.

Valencia and Sevilla... and both are types of oranges I keep seeing on my grocer's stand. Easy to remind me never to put them on anything... unless the odds tempt. Even so.

Unfortunately, no good news for Valencia, debut managerial loss, but it was sort of to be expected anyway. I really thought they would get a draw at least so I lost points there. Nice Barca win, but apparently the fans weren't too happy about it in some parts, took it out on Laporta (again, not a big news) but also on Sergi Roberto. Of course, he scored and assisted, so Xavi was right after all.

Fans? Since when can you keep them happy? Even if you win the treble they'll find something to say about Xavi Wink

tough times, struggling in relegation zone, hopefully not for long time

Barca is going to have difficult match in Manchester, but somehow my thoughts are with them to pass through

Same here. I watched parts of the game (kid is a United fan) and it has to be said, they're really, really good. Rashford goals were the brightest sparks but otherwise United's not looking as good overall, so much giving the ball away and trying to smash it up to Rashford.
2407  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: February 20, 2023, 07:08:59 PM
Oh... how did you come up with the idea of betting against United? Especially having a chance of getting the yellow cap if the favorite does what it has to do - win?  Embarrassed
By the way, what about Tottenham? Quotes for their victory were initially extremely generous - 2+. Now after the first half it's already 2.18 and the score is still 0-0. I don't understand why this team should be in the top 4 and qualify for the Champions League if they can't beat an outsider at home.

I thought hey, Leicester, hey Rodgers, maybe they wake up, Maddison a couple of goals, etc. Didn't even check lineup to see if he was playing. Re Spurs, a bit crazy the hate Son's been getting from his own fans... fickle people. Happy to see him get one.

Congratulations to the winners of this round! buwaytress, with his strange choices, was able to do it after all  Cool

congratulations to @yatty89 and @sojourner

Thanks! And I finally... finally... get up to 52nd place haha. Yellow Cap saves my season!

So don't know how the calculations of the points came out at the end of the tallying but it was in your favor with a couple of bonus points.

Yup, Spurs gave me one more game needed for the slam point, which yatty had earlier from United.

Pope was actually my go to keeper early part, and for a time considered putting back in but of course GK's my least urgent part of the team that needs fixing.

Rashford. What to say?

Nick Pope's time on my team has finally come to an end no doubt, but I'm more surprised you're still considering whether or not to bring in Rashford to your team ? Man has been very consistent lately and is worth more than is value.

After some impressive Mahrez performance Guardiola still decided to drop him to the bench, maybe the only 3 players worth having on that roster is Ederson, KDB and Haaland, unless you want keep playing a good guessing game week in, week out.

Oh no he's in my team, has been since the Triple card played Wink I was like Trofo, wondering to switch him in for Fernandes but my bank account said nope.

So 2 guessing weeks for me, and 2 not-so-bad returns. Even Robbo is pretty good for me. I'll keep him in, maybe bring back... Nunez haha.

I'm kicking myself right now because I had Rashford as my captain until Friday, and I still don't understand why I went back to Halaand; I guess I wasn't confident enough to stick to my original plan, another rusty decision.

My team is overdue for wildcard, Botman, Martinelli, Mitrovic and co needs to leave now.

I'm going to take another penalty week for sure, need to clear out team, luckily only Rashford out, and I can sweep another couple more maybe under the rug.

Which reminds me, RIP BATMs in Europe? At least, where I live. When I first arrived in 2016/17 they were quite easily found, even within walking distance from me. Then they made a big fuss when they installed one at the major airport (I never got to see it, when I tried, it'd been taken away).

Then I think just as the onset of Covid came, and AMLD5, they took them all away. Store owners I spoke to said they were coming back soon, with identification features (at one point you could sell thousands of euros a day without KYC). I haven't seen any for two, maybe three years... not that I've looked them up. Just the familiar haunts have not seen them come back.

Damn, guys. I must have missed 3 editions already, not that it matters, I don't think I'd have picked enough to win anything. So, hopefully that means I've purged the bad luck.

Salah, Nunez, Gakpo, all coming up to speed perhaps?

My next picks are unimaginative, despite injury worries for one or two of them. Mitrovic, Salah, Haaland, JWP, Antonio, Saka, Watkins.

Cool questions indeed... well done guys! there look so deceptively simple yet are as tricky as ever. I'll probably put my picks in later or tomorrow (hopefully no more free dumb answers as in Round 1 haha).

I didn't expect to see a "goal difference" so that makes it look pretty special, heh heh. As I've said before, I don't think there's any advantage/disadvantage in making answers visible, but... glad it's not fixed.

MAAManda is active in other threads, I actually remember seeing a post from Bundesliga or Ligue 1 so I pinged him a DM. Naughty!

Do you have any early predictions or news for upcoming Champions League matches?
I can't wait to see outcome of Liverpool vs Real Madrid, odds are very interesting and it appears Liverpool is getting back in form slowly.
I expect goals in Manchester City match and I think they have best chance to go in next stage, and I think Porto can do something with Inter.
https://sportsbet.io/sports/soccer/international-clubs/uefa-champions-league/matches

Actually now you mentioned it, I took early bets on Liverpool before their last 2 wins... and thought it was pretty decent odds at around 2.31. Now we've strung together two solid wins, we're getting injured players back and getting fit... odds are actually slightly higher. I know Real also had a good two wins, both late, so I guess that neutralised any good thoughts about Liverpool.

Porto for sure can be the upset of the week -- City will probably get 5-0.

My only tip now bullrun2020bro... Liverpool or Real Madrid value ML. Neither will see a draw as good enough. My bias says Liverpool loves a late season surge. And there are half a team that have a million things to prove. This is when we start winning. Got to make the most out of value odds while they are there.

I'd definitely have put up some money on Arsenal specials, just wasn't home in time to take them. Also gone for an away win, but only because odds were 5/1, and Maddison is back. How wrong I was hahaha.

Rashford's the key to beating United. Usually don't like pinning things down on one guy but have watched several Utd games already and they really are winning games on his goals alone.

GL to all you guys who took NBA specials. Should be a pretty game to watch.

Well I hope all you guys are right as I'm hoping for at least 1 clean sheet in the Atletico game, so I win my first round against LTU_btc (who went for a BTTS pick). So far so good... #nojinx!

Elche red card already, hope that doesn't take your luck away, slam!

Sevilla shat the bed, shame if we're surprised.

My money's all spread out already and surprisingly still alive (I even forgot I put Real on one of my tickets last night) so I'm just going to ride Sunday out till the end without extra stress.
2416  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: February 19, 2023, 05:15:05 PM
Great bet! By the way why such low odds - less than 10?  Wink
Thank God I had problems with the VPN all day and decided to skip today - otherwise I would definitely bet on Bayern (I assumed that the tournament situation would force them to win by a large margin).
Now Dortmund is bound to seize the opportunity and so 1.34 on their victory against Hertha is an easy choice?

I was wondering this season how difficult it was in the Big 4 leagues to fin 10/1 and above anymore. But to be fair, Gladbach after their first couple of wins in this tie have not enjoyed high odds anymore now that bookies understand this is Bayern's bogey team. But this season in Bundesliga I actually can't find many memories of 10/1 and up (at least, because I didn't bet).

BVB is an easy choice agreed. They should get some wind also from their UCL minor upset (yes it's an upset I don't care about Chelski form!). But you know me... anything less than 15/10 is a hard swallow, unless it's a pad on an acca. Hope you took the bet. HT and already 2 goals in the good.

2417  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: February 19, 2023, 04:10:51 PM
I see that the underdog victories brought their biggest fan to the first place - buwaytress  Cool

Holy crap I didn't even realise it. Did some rough calculations and saw I was on 8.5 points after last night's win. I'm like cls63, thinking it's a shame we didn't get 3-0 (that was my pick for 2 games in a row and we missed by a goal in both situations).

United spoiled my party, but gave yatty89 all they needed (who's this again?) so hopefully my faith in Spurs is rewarded later.

Newcastle 0-2 LFC (Full time)

A bit of an uncomfortable 2-0 victory for me as a Liverpool fan. We should have won a lot more comfortably but I will take the win & move on to the next game. Newcastle fought well especially when you consider they went down to 10 men.

Back to back wins now for the Reds. Top 4 isn't looking so far away but first a titanic battle with Real Madrid on Tuesday.

Didn't watch 2nd half but they were still threatening in first -- 2 attempts on the post, not to mention some great Alisson defending. But a win's a win and we did cause Pope to panic, he went SO high up to defend twice, got unlucky on the second.
2418  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Eredivisie 22/23 - discussion thread on: February 19, 2023, 03:38:02 PM
Bye, bye, Eindhoven. I know you weren't meant to be, but you were supposed to prove us wrong for a little while more. Took the lead, couldn't hold on. And you can't say Utrecht didn't deserve a share of the spoils, either.

P.S. Branthwaite been in the news all the day today, and seems he is already opening up channels with Dyche at Everton. Decided to celebrate with a yellow card.

What is this guys? I went to holidays and you let the thread fall down almost to the bottom of the page. Not good enough Smiley

Sure was nice to see Liverpool get those 4 shots on target yesterday. A bit surprised that my colleague cryptofrka managed to miss this one as a big Liverpool supporter. Seems like most of the pool knew better after all. Would love to put more salt in the wound but he destroyed me on Tennis question so I will better not push too much.

Whoops, I knew I forgot something when scrolling on that first page haha. I normally even have recently visited pages but on mobile it's impossible to see the URLs properly.

I think cryptofrka is one of those pragmatic supporters. They know how bad the team is, where as I simply can't bring myself to ever bet against my team. It's a really bad disease.

Only match left of interest to me is Atletico. It's the only answer my BSFL opponent has differently and will decide the winner of this round.
