2401  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: On Ordinals: Where do you stand? on: February 11, 2023, 02:54:40 PM
You may not like it but this is what adoption looks like:

Something I remind myself every day. What we think adoption looks like, what mainstream media thinks it looks like, and what it actually looks like? We're probably the ones (or speaking for myself anyway) who will be disappointed.

Because either Bitcoin is used for all expected purposes, but majority of its users don't even interact with the network directly...

...or we get people actually interacting with the network, but in non-expected ways.

For me, personally, I never saw the threat of ordinals. I even probably thumbed it up on first encounter on that post in Projects (shoot me, but that could just be me being a basic person). I still don't even really get the threat now, or, at least, don't see it as a bigger threat then when people were tolling the bells for Bitcoin spreading "immutable" porn online.

I actually want to play, but I cannot guarantee I will be active,,, I have been away for a few months now on recovery and stopped almost all my online activities but I still put all my picks in pool because that's easy even for 2 minutes  Grin So if it is expected to play actively I hope I will not disappoint anyone. But if it is a problem just ignore my applycation!
That is a actually a big problem in this competition since we are having H2H matches, if you show up one week and not on another that is very unfair to other competitors. You will be required to answer 10 questions every week. That does not take a lot of time but it will be every week. I think few minutes is enough unless you are doing some extra reserch. Do you feel like you can do that considering your current situation?

Glad to see you back Smiley

Yeah leea, you probably missed the World Cup quiz format they did but you're playing against other users here, so if you miss out, you're giving your opponent free points, which would be like throwing a match away -- not something others would like.

OTOH if you do it just like you make your picks for superbru -- make sure you come in every week to take care of that, that should be more than enough.

And glad to see you back too! Don't forget you have other things to claim in other pools too!
2403  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: What after localbitcoins.com shutting down on: February 11, 2023, 12:41:10 PM
Blaming the crypto winter.... great job!

The truth is that they started to die when they were forced to introduce KYC rules.
Since it was one of the reasons people traded there, they moved to another place
The same goes for localcrypto and a regulatory development that can take place when your company grow up.

It's called the Darwin's theory. Only the best survives  Grin

This, guys. They blamed the crypto winter, economic outlook, etc., and yes, there's a truth to it. But the winter did not strike the first blow, it only slammed in the final nail.

Before they enforced strict KYC (they actually always had it, but it was either optional or very minimal, IIRC a phone number was enough to get by for most people), I would get trade offers almost as soon as I put mine live. Selling was over in minutes (literally, because of my location and mode of buying).

It was after KYC + the removal of face-to-face that they lost their niche. I took most of my trades off-site, so did most traders I knew. LBC simply became an additional listing site.

Survival of the fittest eh?

Anyone else falling for Chelsea? I thought would start them on my acca so I either start well or try to find something else to bet on after the match.

All the other ties look tricky. I am perhaps most confident of Newcastle.

And yes, to echo Welsh. FSG being in on Super League was a disgrace. That reminded me, lest I ever come close to forgetting, our American owners will never understand the supporter or the soul of the club.

2405  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Craig Wright suing 16 Bitcoin developers on: February 10, 2023, 11:11:52 PM
Man. I could have sworn I had gone months without hearing about this guy again, and then wham it's CW time again. Or recyled news with minor update? Cannot care less, what an annoying start to the weekend ha.

Has he not already been bled dry (financially and reputationwise) by all his inane litigation? And how does he actually have any supporters left?

2406  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC Sentiment Poll for February on: February 10, 2023, 07:34:50 PM
Personally I think breaking $25K this month could be a bit early, especially if most people are expecting it to happen already. I think March is more realistic, though wouldn't rule out breaking above $25K in the next week or two. I think it depends more so if current prices or $21K level will hold as support, if not then it will likely take price longer to consolidate if $20K (accumulation) levels are re-visited.

Easy for me to say of course with the hindsight of the last week, but yeah, it's going to require a full 15% rally, and sustained, to break and stay above $25k. Still very much on the cards, but I wonder if there's just too much uncertainty now to figure in that kind of push in 2.5 weeks --we're about to receive news on full 2022 economic performance and I suspect it will be worse than expected.
2407  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⭐⚽⭐ Sportsbet's Bitcointalk Sports Fanatics League (BSFL) – 5000+$ rewards ⭐⚽⭐ on: February 10, 2023, 07:02:40 PM
Speaking of sports fanatics, is there any particular event you guys are looking forward to? I actually made some serious plans to watch the SEA games in Cambodia this year, but we couldn't arrange things for the family in time (there's a local village athlete to see).

The last new sport I tried to watch was T20 cricket, I might get around to watching the upcoming Women's World Cup.

..or as I like to call it League of Extraordinary Fanatics. Wink
I like that, we should have called it that way instead Smiley Some nice memories to a very good albeit naive movie.

Man, is it weird I also have a somewhat good relationship with that otherwise dumb movie?

Also, League of Gentlemen is an amazing series that will probably never air again because of political correctness, but that's another story.

2408  Economy / Speculation / Re: will bitcoin go back to 19000 on: February 10, 2023, 11:56:31 AM
Some of the bad news that I know of are Binance suspends USD trading, Kraken stops offering staking services to the US, Paxos (BUSD) is under investigation...I'm not sure if all of this has an impact on the market. But no wonder bitcoin is down at this point, I was expecting bitcoin to hit $25k and then correct because no market can go up forever, and we are still in bear season. As to how much bitcoin will decrease or increase, you should do your own research with your knowledge, no one can give you an exact answer.

Nah I don't think it is any of that. I would actually say, sentiment wise, even the closure of localbitcoins, announced yesterday, is more negative in the sense that yet another pioneer and former giant (very nostalgic and somewhat impactful for me anyway) has folded because of supposed market outlook.

I think it is just a normal retracement as traders sit back after a solid 6 weeks, waiting for more news on economic outlook from the US and others.

No iphone so I guess I'm missing out on that fancy app. My Android one works ok but it's not my favourite thing to use, there are days it won't even let me login, but look at this new thing: https://sportsbet.io/promotions/2023-sbio-browser-extension

Opted in for beta testing, because a browser extension sounds right up my alley... Think I count over 10 extensions active on mine, always prefer using those to individual apps.

I guess that if someone from Division 2 doesn't want to pay the fee, he will stay in Division 2 and his opponent will stay in Division 1. At least that sounds logical to me... Or is it?

No, not really. The entrance fee would probably be deducted from his winnings so he wouldn't even have an option to choose whether he wants to join Div1 or not.

We are talking about big prize pools and really small buy-ins for such type of competition, the players have to be able to give at least some minimum from themselves back to the community that is playing.

Silly me, I did read the rules and that part skipped my attention!

And this response also now clarifies things -- Fees for the next season are automatically deducted from winnings. I suppose then, this leaves only the freebet winners who'll need to pay up for the restart.

Again, I know it makes sense for a lot of us, but after years on this forum, it's not difficult to expect some people could be confused (not pointing fingers, some people are like yours truly).

Anyone else itching for UCL?
2411  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Sportsbet.io ⚽ Spanish La Liga ⚽ Football Pool Discussion Thread 2022/2023 on: February 09, 2023, 03:04:13 PM
you probably missed difference bu Al Hilal is yet to play Madrid, and last night Al Ahly lost to Real
I am not following much, but saw memes about Ronaldo crying for not joining Al Hilal instead of Al Nassr, since they got two penalties against Flamengo, and knock them out on that (didn't watch, so not sure were does penalties realistic or not)

another one against Bilbao for Valencia, not sure where it is going to go, but we could end up in relegation zone after this round

That I did! Embarrassing for me heh, I swore I read the names right, but I can blame my lack of attention to the fact I'd just looked quickly after finding out the Flamengo loss, assuming straightaway the winner went to meet Real in the finals.

*insert SHAME gif here*

Valencia? They only get my money on odds above 8/1 now.

Now you mentioned we can look forward to Bundesliga and Lige1 included in our forum focus, with the Fanatics League BSFL soon to start! Of course it doesn't mean I will do better but I can do worse in more pools lol

I will personally hunt down people I know active in these leagues but not in BSFL heh heh. And there are plenty (though majority I choose to ignore as I know they're just spam posters there).
2412  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Localbitcoins closing down on: February 09, 2023, 01:51:30 PM
Just used it myself today, I saw no such thing or message... would have been big news in my circle for sure. Edit: seems confirmed, even if on my screen nothing of the sort shows.

Thankfully, by now, I already have a few trusted peeps from over the years so if it's true, I deal with them outside already anyway for the most. It will mean I don't get the best rates selling over time to new traders though... so that's a bummer.

Always thought them being in Finland protected them somewhat.

Fear of relegation haha, yeah, I know very well that fear -- in the case of my local club, throughout my lifetime, all the way to the painful end where we actually just got dissolved.

Once I see who's not joined, I'm going to start spamming DMs (but I agree, don't think we'll have a lack of interest).

Not important for me, but might be for others: what happens in the new season with teams promoted to the 1st division? Are they then required to pay a fee? And those relegated no longer paying? I sense this to be something of a point with some people (knowing people).

Kind of miffed I missed odds on this one, anyone know what pre-match markets looked like?
A bullet header from Ramos denied lead of Marseille which scored by Sanchez on Penalty in 31st minute of this round of 16 game between Marseille vs PSG an entertaining match between top teams of the French League are fighting hard for the spot of the quarterfinal with PSG is playing with their all first line players and Neymar is also doing good after recovery from injury, and now they are preparing for their next challenging match in Ligue 1 against Monaco which is going to play on 11th February at Stade Louis II Monaco before going to play against another challenging match against Bayern Munich on 15th February at Parc des Princes Paris.
The odds for this match before start was Marseille @3 Draw @3.2 and PSG @2.2

Yeah, reading a few posts up about the nonsense of this tie not being important when it was the strongest lineup that played -- you don't do that when it's not important.

If anything, they needed this win before the UCL tie coming up because they're not exactly at their best (though, arguably, neither is their opponent).

It's going to be Monaco for me, and depending on injuries, probably Bayern.

3/1 Marseille, shame I missed!

Another double game week come up again, this time for Arsenal and Man City, it still doesn't feel like the perfect game week for my triple captain chip, especially with how awful Man City have been, I might just save for the second upcoming double game week with Arsenal up against Everton and Leicester City teams that actually concede better number of goals.
I can't complain, every week with 100+ points is good week. Just shows how easy it is to gain rank on someone when things align, I was 100 points of 3rd place and now it is just 30.

Rashford triple captain was one of the easiest decisions this season, it is really hard to find player in form with great double game week that is nailed enough to play both full games. City does not have an easy double anywhere and Arsenal is spreading their goals all around front 4. I have no idea who I would choose from Arsenal, maybe Saka? But he can easily stay without goal in two consecutive fixtures while Rashford at home has incredible stats.

Yeah, so easy even I had to relent, thankfully.

89 points for me (because of my transfer penalty) but absolutely no complaints as I see that as a good haul, considering past performance.

City agree, I hardly put them in my team (Haaland is experimental and while he didn't work out, I put him right in when he last got the hattrick) except as a random "oh, he fits the budget", but no double candidates.

I'm always sticking with Saka, he's just too good whenever I watch him, I would even argue on a level consistently above Rashford, except in terms of end result (goal). Hard to explain watching them, but the points/goals don't care.
2416  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: February 09, 2023, 10:25:15 AM
Man United losing 2-0 now and somehow buwaytress is the only one who getting right outcome on Superbru. Can see he hates United that much lol.

Not quite right buddy, we are catching up somehow. Damn Sancho scored a goal after getting back on the team, guess this will help him being more confidence in the upcoming games. Over 5 minutes to go including injury time, getting a draw is so much better than losing but if we can miraculously score another goal here than it would be fantastic

I do hate United, but that was just me aiming for a yellow cap. I'm so far down the ranks in this pool I'm no longer picking what I normally should. A bit idiotic as there's actually quite a lot to play for in Matchweeks but hey, I don't mind having a bit of fun.

Also, Sancho. I was this close to picking him on my FPL team actually!

Also, I didn't get any points for picking Leeds win -- and this is why you don't pick upsets all the time in this pool. The risk-reward simply doesn't encourage it!

Man, I'm going to be way too old to continue being active on this forum I think -- unless I actually manage to retire from the lottery in a few years or somehow find a job that pays me many times what I earn.

Suppose 250k in 2030 isn't too bad at all, that's 7 years to stack sats. Sadly, not sure will make a significant dent in retirement barrier barring a sub-10k crash for a year heh.

LeBron to score 36 points tonight (OKC Thunder) @ 2.25.
Otherwise, he will break the record on Friday (Milwaukee Bucks) @ 1.65.
The only real value is with tonight (OKC Thunder) @ 2.25; but he's only scored 36 points in 3/9 (33%) games this season while averaging 30.0 points per game.
"Other" is a suckers bet; hence the odds @ 10/1.

Thanks for the explanation -- my timezone was not conducive to the advice, pretty sure his fans doubled their money last night then huh! Suppose he was extra motivated to push himself to get this record (and he's not a "striker" is he?).

LeBron James and Liverpool confirm new partnership as stunning NBA record set.
Liverpool have confirmed a new partnership with NBA legend LeBron James after weeks of speculation.

And FSG want to sell. Do they not see the Liverpool brand is just magic? And all those American-British inroads yet to be explored, isn't that so much commercial potential to merely sniff at, right?

(Yeah I'm babbling, this happens when the Reds are just so miserable).
2419  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🦊 Betnomi.com | FPL Football Pool ⚽ Discussion Thread on: February 08, 2023, 10:02:02 PM
Heeeey, Bamford assist for the first goal, I'll take that. Rashford with a goal? I'll take that too! Not that I should be celebrating my FPL performance but I could have done a lot worse (like Varane/Casemiro, phew!).

But Leeds is always so scary man, two injury subs in first half hour describes just how much you put on the line choosing Leeds players in your team, no?

Also. Don't know this Skubala guy, and I don't think we can credit/blame him for the team performance today but I found out he used to be boss of England futsal. So expect even more lineup madness and rotation with this guy, I think!
2420  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: French Soccer League Predictions and Discussion Thread (Ligue 1) on: February 08, 2023, 09:00:22 PM
Couldn't watch the game as I was busy getting some cheer on in England but seeing Sanchez's name pop up on my livescore, didn't expect an own goal from him. Edit: I meant goal!

What a lead by Marseille, sure it's half time and already a late leveller, but quick check on stats shows domination from the home team. Maybe they prevent you-know-who from getting a clean sweep in France, eh?

Oh and when was the last time Ramos scored from open play? I can't remember (but it's not like I've been following so close these days).

Kind of miffed I missed odds on this one, anyone know what pre-match markets looked like?
