All my picks in early too. Going to be really busy and I might forget. Some tight fixtures so I actually went for draw but only on the Friday opener.

Also, not really related but it completely flew over me that Club World Cup is playing and Al Hilal just knocked out Flamengo (wow)... first final for the Asian Champs (poor Ronaldo isn't even there) and their prize is Real Madrid tonight. Didn't even know until I saw the news. Happily put one against Real but only for winner results (suspect a draw to pens is happening).

No need to apologise for the meme share Trofo. We deserve it. Heh heh.

Leeds got my money tonight... no more team huddles so maybe they remember how to win? Not even 7/1, give me a break...

If he's lost the changing rooms like everyone is claiming. It's about time we replace that changing room then.

Hear, hear. From the days of Wenger, I've always felt that players don't take the blame enough. Or at least, personalities in the dressing room. It's your rice bowl, you play well, no matter what, you be a professional.

I know it's a simplistic view but it's valid: who's a better Klopp replacement now? Will he inherit the same inability to move in transfer?

Klopp worked well as part of the triumvirate in recruitment -- owner, front office, coaching -- when Edwards left, it wasn't so bad, Ward was a good understudy. Then FSG decided they'd had enough and "tested the waters". TF. Ward promptly announced his departure and then Graham (the brains behind out stats approach). But that's okay, you still got Graham and Klopp right? Wrong. Graham's busy looking for buyers or new owners so it's Klopp all alone now in recruitment.

He can't coach as well as he did, the team has less of his presence, his focus on mentality, etc. He's busy trying to buy players without the input of the brains he used to so he can only do what coaches traditionally do: look for potential with snatches of evidence (that's Cody Gakpo's WC exploits, in a nutshell).

^^^ Yep, Juve did not play like themselves, and I lost, but not too upset about it, at least it was a proper loss, and not a draw that would have frustrated me even more heh heh.

Also, I hate stripping of titles. Coaches and players would be disserviced. I know the idea is to punish a club as a collective, but I prefer owners/managers even going to jail or getting sanctions from ever managing clubs, and of course, penalties and relegations, to teach a lesson. Unfortunately that lesson is suffered even by players and fans.

2426  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Btc get to $12k or $10k on: February 07, 2023, 09:15:06 PM
My take: BTC will be somewhere between $500 and $1,000,000 at the end of the year.

Source: trust me bro

You're fooling the OP. Later on, if that happens, you're saying, you're going to cry a lot when bitcoin drops 500$, hehe.

But seriously, it doesn't matter if we should expect it to fall by 12k$ or increase by 1M$ each bitcoin. Because the important thing is now, if you believe that bitcoin will be 100k$ and above, you should start saving bitcoin now based on the budget that each of us has here. Cheesy Grin

Then you really have no idea who you are likely talking to in this forum. -D

I do remember March 2020 pretty decent. Yeah it was worrying and yeah there were some creeping thoughts. But nowhere close to tears.

I know I wasn't alone.

$500 this year would likely make my stomach churn but no way will it lead hodlers here to tears. I would see it as me back in 2016, equipped with better knowledge of what to expect.

Sharp crash, lenghtened surge, neverending sideways... I think most people here are prepared for all of that. DCA anyone?

All this inconsequential as you say, come new ATH. Oh and it be coming.
2427  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Sportsbet.io ⚽ Italian Serie A ⚽ Football Pool Discussion Thread 2022/2023 on: February 07, 2023, 07:19:29 PM
Who else is hoping Juve penalties also hit Citeh? Probably not, and I hope it doesn't result in stripping of titles as that would be unfair (but then it was unfair for all Juve players a decade ago).

That said, Salertinata "only" 66/10 vs Juve tonight. It's as if so much value's getting wiped out from upsets these days. How the giants have fallen.
2428  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🦊 Betnomi.com | Champions League Pool ⚽️ Discussion Thread on: February 07, 2023, 05:56:01 PM
@bullrun2020bro: Liverpool here so it's really hard to get excited but if there is something to take away, Real and Liverpool have both been clowning around in the league recently. Cept Real still know how to win some games playing like clowns 90% of the game.

That we're the favourites, odds-wise, is a disgrace to bookmakers everywhere, I demand we are the 5/1 underdogs to the Kings of UCL! Out of every competition, likely out of European spots, this is our only chance for redemption, so I'm putting a way too silly amount of money on us.

Oh, and I put my Betnomi freebet on Liverpool, City (!!) and Napoli (see their odds, super value!).
2429  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: February 07, 2023, 04:13:23 PM
Dyche is really a decent manager.  I prolly should've paid more attention before making these parlays as I honestly really didn't know he was coming to replace Lampard.  I just found out when the match started.  Lolol.

Sean Dyche could just be the manager to bring back Everton to consistently finish midtable every season just as the genius Moyes did back in the day.

Anyway, another potentially good manager to look out for is Vincent Kompany who is doing well at Burnley rn.

To be fair, it was always going to be a hard call to pick Everton against a high-performing Arsenal. They did have a good game, second half anyway, but had they converted a goal first, Everton might have settled for a draw. Dyche's challenge will now be to ask his team to maintain or rotate. No way they play the same intensity from now on with not-so-full-of-stamina players in the team. Unless they want to burn out like Leeds or... cough, cough, Liverpool.

Merseyside up next though!

Manchester City in the Mud! Following a four-year investigation, Premier Leaue charged this fraud team with numerous violations of financial rules.

If Man City is found guilty on 50% of the charges, they could face a 15-point deduction or even expulsion from the Premier League. The funniest thing is that even if they lose 15 points, they will still be ahead of Livarpool.. Grin

Never seen anything like it. Pep to Chelsea?

I think it will take another 4 years of investigation, and then another 4 years of courts and in the end the City will be punished by a few pence  Grin
But as I wrote earlier, the Premier League is in any case moving towards a financial crisis from which there is either access to the Super League (for the few who survive) or the coming to the fact that cheating clubs should be punished not just harshly, but severely.

Whoa. That's actually pretty damned big news, not sure how I didn't hear about it earlier. Cue Pep rants. Like you said, though, last time they got in trouble, they paid a nice "wrist slap" fine, though, so I'm not holding my breath.

Remember, they were actually found guilty and banned. An appeal was successful, so who knows what other extras that appeal entailed? What was it that Mourinho said about the whole thing? You're either innocent or guilty, and City were guilty af.

Chelski next to get FPP threats? Wink Surely they can put together an even bigger appeal package =)
2430  Economy / Services / Re: Earn Thousands of dollars monthly helping migrants getting job contracts on: February 07, 2023, 02:01:11 PM
Without going too much into what a mire of issues you can get discussing legality and illegality of migration (which really just has only something to do with basic human rights), you can almost be sure that if you're looking to profit off it, you're likely only making the situation worse for actual migrants who have urgent needs and rights in any system.

In short, if people have the rights to migrate but can't afford it, who are we to add an additional barrier of cost for them?

May not be the "gold visas" that much of the developed world is trying to erase (lesson learnt, paying millions for citizenship or residency doesn't necessarily bring long-term gains), but the premise is the same.

Now if we're talking about using Bitcoin to help facilitate systems and protect those migrants who are being exploited by fiat systems, maybe there's a use?
2431  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Eredivisie 22/23 - discussion thread on: February 06, 2023, 10:25:35 PM
I know, still too early to call, but I think both Feyenoord and Eindhoven have just done Ajax the biggest favour ever today.
~snip

totally
as I said, Ajax is the only team that can win in series, and 8 points advantage that Feyenoord once had was nothing compared to that fact
not sure is that obvious now, but Ajax will probably win another title this season, will all others falling as the season continues, hopefully season will be at least interesting till last rounds

Astute observation, I thought the media here and chats I'm aware of (Eredivisie is about as local as it gets where I am) were too naive. Now is Schreuder has stayed, I might have changed my mind too but consistency is not the drink of any Dutch team not named Ajax.

Pundits are still hammering on about Timber's "blunder" but really, they're only rioting because they're still in the clouds about the title.
2432  Economy / Speculation / Re: Enough? on: February 06, 2023, 08:44:49 PM
I don't know exactly when this idea was first mentioned, but I found a topic from 2017 in which you also participated, and at the time 21 BTC didn't seem like a big number to most people - although according to your calculation it only took about $40 000 to become a member of that club.

I don't think most people, myself included, could ever hope for that membership even today, even at sub 20k, but I'd like to think that at some faraway but not too distant point in the future, even 1 BTC would be some hell of a fallback plan!

I agree that it is an unattainable goal for most, especially if someone is starting from scratch, and even if you had 10 BTC it would still be a big challenge. In that case, selling those 10 BTC at the peak and then buying after a 60-70% correction would definitely be a ticket to that club.

The memories! $40,000 seemed completely unattainable to me back then, I'd just started out freelancing and accepting Bitcoin payments (but up till that year the majority of clients were only willing to pay in alts if you can believe it!).

Can't remember myself when I first heard of it but fairly certain it was in a chat somewhere, definitely not the forum.

I do look back wistfully having lived through 2 ATHs and not being able to take advantage, but no complaints. My last major liquidation was at the end of 2020, so effectively, I sold at 2017 ATH and that wasn't a bad thing at all, given I really needed the cash and I wouldn't have been anywhere close if I'd saved in fiat.

Almost half a million dollars now to buy "membership"!
2433  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Sportsbet.io ⚽ Spanish La Liga ⚽ Football Pool Discussion Thread 2022/2023 on: February 06, 2023, 07:45:46 PM
Hey! Hello! What about your thread? I haven't seen the updates for a long time, but judging by how the leaders are falling, it's you who should count the money  Wink

On the one hand, it seems that Real have already lost La Liga, on the other hand, the statistics are encouraging. We need to see the results of the second head-to-head meeting and see how Barcelona will cope with the downturn.

Appreciate the shout out as always, but I've been having real problems managing time this season. I still place bets, and still generally find room to bet against the big boys, but now almost always blindly looking at odds, and no time to compare, so I'm sticking to 2 books I can easily bet from mobile. So I no longer am as confident I'm posting value bets.

Hoping for real life to tone down this year but it's not exactly a clear path atm. Majority of my posts now are from mobile or on the move, or late at night when I'm too tired to look at odds!

Oh and yeah, I'm probably still in profit from upsets, but I'm losing much more than usual on "regular" betting (accas especially), not sure why... ragebetting because of Liverpool maybe?

If anyone knows a special for Barca treble... ping me a link?

Couple of LeBron NBA specials... https://sportsbet.io/sports/sportsbet-specials/daily-specials/nba-specials/matches

but I've no idea what's going on, so is the "Other" selection for 10/1 on the "Against Which Team Will LeBron James Break The NBA All-Time Scoring Record?" worth it?

Yet another unforeseen upset for your prediction in the pool this weekend.
Do you have a ouija board letting you know these will happen? Because you had to have some kind of mystically powers to get two in a row like that one day after another in the Prem.

Anyhow, well done to you as your out of the gutter in the table where I am rated 55th and only the ones who don't put in their weekly selections anymore are lower placed than I am now.

No board. Just a predilection for upsets, renewed due to my unenviable position in the league, just 2 spots above you. It's not exactly helping me, as you can see from the round results so far! Funny thing now I'm noticing users, even old ones, going inactive across pools. Might be something normal but never really paid attention until now. Makes me think about forum retention.
2435  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🦊 Betnomi.com | Champions League Pool ⚽️ Discussion Thread on: February 06, 2023, 05:23:36 PM
Thanks for already participating guys! I really feel bad that we have at least 2 inactive users (even worried to be honest) so if anyone knows what happened with tomahawk9 and leea-1334 or how to contact them personally, do ping me as well. I'm not at all interested in getting them to come back, but want to know if there's anything we could do.

Thanks for mentioning my tool, here for reference
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5436655.msg61649395#msg61649395

This tool is good if you are just adding participants in order they join. This tool won't help if participants are able to choose a number.

In this case, where participants may choose a number, the winner is easily verified so I thought a tool wouldn't help.

I am open for suggestions if you need any tool which might help in future giveaways.

It's actually really awesome, provably fair as close as it gets (even though I didn't understand the discussions, it was for me already as good as it got even from OP).

I might drop by because crypto (outside the forum) is full of giveaways, and while hash results are the standard for the forum, I've noticed that the regular user (crypto and non crypto) can still get confused by that. So I looked at simpler variables like block fee total but noticed not all explorers (mempool, for example) show the precise amount. I'm actually not even sure if all explorers will show the same precise total but perhaps there are other things to look at.
2436  Economy / Speculation / Re: Month January 23 - the best month since bitcoin? on: February 06, 2023, 04:30:00 PM
So we might have one of the best month in bitcoin's history, but it doesn't mean it will go parabolic this year. Technically, we are in the midst of the bear market, so everything can still end up in a negative way for the next 10 months or so. If could be amazing as you have said if we are going to $35k, but I wouldn't be surprised if we don't.

If anything, it means we won't go parabolic. The year-long rally (that ends in an ATH) generally starts in the middle of the year, so if we do see the start of one this year, it'll be in 2024 we see some heavy returns to the green.

Also, it's just way too soon since the last one.

That said, nothing means anything anymore with Bitcoin treading in unfamiliar territory (widespread adoption and recognition, against a backdrop of global recession).

^ Ah, I remember this Club 21. It was 2016 for me and I said, sure, I'd love to try for that, but maybe 1 BTC first -- I wasn't to know 2017 would leave all those plans far, far behind haha.

I don't think most people, myself included, could ever hope for that membership even today, even at sub 20k, but I'd like to think that at some faraway but not too distant point in the future, even 1 BTC would be some hell of a fallback plan!

Few things in football are worse than making all the attacks, getting so many players carded and potentially injured, missing a penalty, and still losing the game... to an own goal.

Wasted my time watching Forest-Leeds, so frustrating, should have gone for this game instead, but you know, who normally wants to watch Mallorca right?

Slam you must be counting your money tonight?
