2501  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Amepay raised 84.6 million in their IEO on: January 05, 2021, 06:09:14 AM
I agree with Reatim. Something is not right with this project. BTW, why they are taking no steps to get the token listed in additional exchanges? If they are serious about their plans, then they should list the token in at least 2-3 exchanges. The availability in just one exchange makes the token more susceptible for manipulation (especially from the promoters). I have no complaints against BKEX, but it won't hurt them to get listed in a few more platforms.
2502  Economy / Economics / Re: We, bitcoiners, should buy a bank on: January 05, 2021, 05:58:00 AM
it seems that in India there is the first crypto bank opened in physical location. https://cointelegraph.com/news/indian-crypto-bank-opens-physical-location-eyes-100-branches-by-2022
Quote
The physical crypto bank branch in Jaipur is part of an initial rollout in 14 locations across three states before the end of January 2021, according to a Cashaa blog post on Dec. 28. Unicas is looking to open 100 branches by 2022.
It's a new kind of business but as we have seen with LIBRA (facebook coin), any project that could interfere with real world financial system has serious difficult to get regulated.

Cointelegraph is one of the most unreliable news sites in the cryptocurrency sector. They have a habit of publishing clickbait articles, which doesn't contain an iota of truth. Here we are talking about a country, where an individual was arrested for trying to install a Bitcoin ATM. Cryptocurrencies are not yet 100% legal there. And now some media outlet claims that Crypto Bank is going to start operations.
2503  Economy / Economics / Re: Tether's market cap is huge! (usdt) on: January 05, 2021, 05:19:10 AM
USDT does have a large market cap and is now in 3rd position and has succeeded in replacing XRP's position. This happens because USDT is
indeed the most popular stable coin and is widely used by investors. In fact USDT is listed on almost all exchanges, so it is only natural that
USDT trades volume over Bitcoin. I myself don't really believe in USDT, but I keep the profit from trading on USDT, because USDT is easiest
to find on any exchanges. But I also never kept large funds in USDT.

Whenever the volatility increases, the demand for USDT also increases. So of the traders go by their logic of "buy low, sell high". But this logic is not very easy to implement in the cryptocurrency market. Those who converted their BTC to USDT three months back, when the prices reached $12,000-$15,000 per coin would be regretting about their decision now.
2504  Economy / Economics / Re: Second lockdown due to covid19 is painful on: January 05, 2021, 05:09:25 AM
That's right. A person who isn't a front liner can't be a priority to have the vaccine at this moment. Anyone can't buy a vaccine as well since they are to be bought by governments alone. Not even companies who wants to provide vaccines for their employees can buy vaccines.

Rich countries can easily acquire but the poor ones will likely lockdown for a long time. It's worse that could happen but this new variant is as deadly as its still covid19.

The new strain is still a concern, but with most of the developed nations starting the vaccination program, we should see a decrease in the infection rate by next month or the latest by March. But the next two months are very crucial. It is still peak winter season in the Northern hemisphere and the daily deaths resulting from COVID 19 is still at record levels in many of the countries.
2505  Economy / Speculation / Re: Are we in another Bubble? when will it Burst on: January 05, 2021, 04:59:06 AM
If this was a bubble, then it would be burst already. Yesterday the prices dipped by almost $5,000 within an hour or so. But they recovered almost at the same pace. This means that there is a lot of demand for Bitcoin, especially from the institutions. And many of them are in BTC for the long term, and this reduces the dip of extended phases of correction. I expect the rally to continue for another 3 months minimum.
2506  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I quit smoking and buy Bitcoin every week on: January 05, 2021, 04:46:24 AM
Not so Appropriate for the Convo given ,Because How can it be possible when they are talking about 20 years Life duration when the involve is only 25 years old, meaning from age of 5 the counting starts ?Kids even Such milk that young .I guess it is Much good if the "Person" is at least 40-45 years old and still Not having a Lambo.
But the essence is the same , we must not smoke and save our funds ,believe me coming from a former "Chain Smoker" ..

Being a non-smoker, I have always wondered why people are spending so much on cigarettes. We all know that more than 80% of the amount that we pay for the cigarettes are made up of taxes. So why should anyone go for this overpriced and expensive habit, when it can give you lung cancer as well? But there is some truth in what TopTort777 said. If I compare non-smokers with smokers, there is not much difference in their financial status. At least I could not find anything obvious.
2507  Other / Politics & Society / Re: US Elections 2020 - very self such moderated on: January 05, 2021, 04:35:53 AM
Back in December I was expecting the GOP candidates to win the two senate election runoffs in Georgia, but the momentum seems to have shifted during the last couple of weeks. If the Democrats win both these seats, it is going to be disastrous for the GOP. It will mean that the senate remains tied on 50-50, and with Lisa Murkowski ready to jump to the Democrat side, it will soon become 49-51.

The turnout will matter a lot. Once the figures are available, I will be comparing the turnout from these counties, with respect to the turnout from the November elections: DeKalb, Fulton, Clayton and Rockdale. Other counties in the Metropolitan Atlanta region do have large sections of GOP voters, so it would be difficult to infer anything from the turnout.

2508  Economy / Speculation / Re: Correction has started? on: January 05, 2021, 04:19:48 AM
But the price has recovered to $32,500 now. That's how quick the recovery is, some minor pullback but then again, institutions are quickly scooping it from those weak hands that are selling at $33k++. And it seems that every dip will be minor and very shallow and could bounce back just like that.

So let's see if the buying will continue and we are going to be back around $33k again and then hit $35k this week. Unlikely, but we don't know what the institutions are going to do and maybe push it again.

Institutions are purchasing coins at every available opportunity and this means that the current bull rally may continue for a few more months, or at least until the exchange rates reach $50,000 per coin. When the news first came out of the PayPal adoption, the exchange rates were around $12,000 per coin. Those who invested back then have already got close to 200% returns. I don't expect the institutions to liquidate their holdings anytime soon. They are in this for the long term.
2509  Economy / Speculation / Re: Correction has started? on: January 04, 2021, 07:12:35 PM
Recovery of $2,000 per coin in less than two hours. Do you guys call this as correction?  Grin

The verdict is loud and clear. There is too much demand out there, and any extra supply is being mopped up by the bulls. Obviously one of the whales dumped a huge amount of coins, and this resulted in the prices crashing from $34,000 to $29,000. Let's not forget the fact that Bitcoin has gone up by 200% plus during the last few months. A lot of the investors may go for profit booking, and in the coming days we may witness more of these sort of wild swings in the exchange rate.
2510  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: January 04, 2021, 06:57:17 PM
I would never say that they are weak bowling side. They are in top 3 in the world cricket and were looking at top form before they lost the 2nd game. And their bowlers didn't perform bad at all, their batting looking vulnerable because Smudge (smith) is not performing.

The way i see it, world cricket going through some phase of average batting from every single team but not bowling.

You are right. The problem is with their batting and not with their bowling. The same set of bowlers blasted out India for 36 runs in the first test. And let's not forget the fact that the playing XI had players such as Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara. The bowlers can't do much, when the batsmen are performing so poorly. First they should fire their captain (Tim Paine) as he is not contributing for a long time.
I feel you are ignoring his contribution in the Australian squad. He led the team when they were in big crisis due to Smith-Warner ban and at 1st test he scored 70+ runs, which earned him man of the match award.

I have to disagree with you on this one. Tim Paine has underperformed in test cricket. His test batting average is just 32.20 and the only test player with a regular slot in the playing XI with a lower average (as far as I can remember) is Temba Bavuma of South Africa. A 36-year old with sub-40 batting average in test? I think some younger player deserves that slot.

If Pakistan is unable to take early wickets in the first session, I think they will lose by an innings. If New Zealand gives Pakistan a target of 200 runs. Pakistan will not be able to score 200 runs in their second innings. The series of completely one-sided.

Don't be overconfident about the New Zealanders. First of all, they don't even have a lead right now. They may be able to build a lead tomorrow, but Pakistan has some talented pace bowlers and if they bowl well, then they can restrict NZ to somewhere around a lead of 100-150. Now it will be Pakistan's turn and I have a feeling that they will bat sensibly this time, as this is the last match of the tour.
I am not overconfident with the New Zealand players. I said, if they are able to give a target of more than 200 runs, then Pakistan will lose by an innings. And that's what I think. If NZ doesn't lose any wickets in the first session, I think they will be able to give a lead of more than 200 runs And that's what I think. Because I don't see such an experienced player in the Pakistan team. I am not satisfied with their overall performance. I'm just giving my own opinion.

Maybe you are right. But let's not forget the fact that now Pakistan will be under tremendous pressure to perform well in the final match. Their performance was disappointing so far in this tour, apart from that consolation win during the 3rd T20I match. And the Pakistani bowlers actually started well, and at one point they had restricted New Zealand to 71/3. Also, their batting was not that disappointing in the first innings. IMO, it is still 50/50.
2512  Economy / Economics / Re: Fake COVID-19 vaccines....by Paying in Bitcoins on: January 04, 2021, 05:38:36 PM
Vaccine still not selling to public just created and under government control right now, if you get banner ads about selling vaccine for covid 19 I think illegal vaccine and is not secure if you wanna try. I am waiting government announcement about vaccine will giving free or we have buy because so far just focus vaccine for medical healthy only and public people waiting for next round vaccine coming, I think is good choose because many medical healthy have pass away with their risk job.

Most of the distribution will be done by the government and therefore you won't be able to skip the queue. But I recently read a statement from John Skerritt. He was claiming that small number of vaccine vials may be made available privately. He didn't clarified how many doses will be available, or what will be the price tag. But for those who want to purchase the vaccine on their own, there is hope.

2514  Economy / Economics / Re: Second lockdown due to covid19 is painful on: January 04, 2021, 09:52:54 AM
Vaccination is the best option against COVID 19 but will the vaccine be effective against the new COVID 19 variant (UK version) is a big question. With 28 new mutations and a higher infection rate, it can be very dangerous. Although people with a good immune system have a higher chance of survival, they can transmit the virus to immune-compromised and vulnerable groups.
The second lockdown is very painful particularly for the middle and lower class people who do not have a steady job but lockdown is necessary to control the pandemic.

The new variant from the United Kingdom is no more dangerous than the old strain. The fatality rate is the same. But the difference is that it is much more contagious and that means that the number of infections may go up. But the vaccine should be effective against the new strain as well as this has been confirmed by the vaccine manufacturers such as Pfizer and Moderna.
2515  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: $Bitcoin is first, $Eth is second, which of these should be in my 3rd place? on: January 04, 2021, 09:41:37 AM
Among the top 10 coins, Cardano looks like the one with most future potential for me. It's technology is much more advanced when compared to either Bitcoin or Ethereum, and if the developers can make the coin a bit more easier to use, then it has the potential to become one of the top three cryptocurrencies. BTW, how much of your portfolio you are planning to fill up with BTC and ETH?
2516  Economy / Economics / Re: China Economy Forecasted to Surpass US Economy by 2028 on: January 04, 2021, 07:42:35 AM
A part of the Bitcoin rally was attributed to the weakening US Dollar by some of the mainstream media outlets. They claim that printing trillions of USD worth of banknotes as a part of the stimulus has had a negative impact on the net worth of Dollar. I am not quite sure about it, as I haven't noticed any similar rallies with other assets (such as crude oil and bullion).
2517  Economy / Speculation / Re: No Resistance From $30K-$40K? on: January 04, 2021, 07:18:15 AM
resistance has just been made at $ 34600, and this will be the strongest resistance this week,
if it breaks then bitcoin will go down to $ 40k easily, so this is an opportunity for us to buy bitcoin on correction.

Looking at the orderbooks of a few exchanges, I couldn't notice any major resistance level at $34,600. Just because there was a lack of demand at that point, we can't assume that there is a major resistance level. IMO, the next major resistance won't come before $40,000. Those who purchased their coins at sub-$20,000 prices would be willing to book profits at that level.
2518  Economy / Economics / Re: Second lockdown due to covid19 is painful on: January 04, 2021, 07:04:46 AM
Vaccine has risk but the benefit outweigh the risk. people will not learn how important vaccine is before they got devastated by the virus themselves.
As an adult you're free to choose to get vaccinated or not but if you really want covid to be gone then starts with vaccine and ofcourse the most safest one from a company that you'd trust.

Statistically, the risk from dying after getting infected with COVID 19 is very low, if you are below 60 years of age and doesn't have any comorbidity. So this has prompted many to take a stance against getting vaccinated. But for the elderly and the other vulnerable groups, there is no such option available. They are at a high risk from this pandemic, and they need to get vaccinated as soon as possible.
2519  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: do we really need stable coin? on: January 04, 2021, 06:33:38 AM
Apart from day-traders, I don't think that anyone need Stablecoins. Ideally I would prefer selling/purchasing cryptocurrency with fiat cash. But I understand that in some jurisdictions, due to legal complexities fiat currency is not allowed in cryptocurrency exchanges. And this is where Stablecoins such as USDT and USDC comes to picture. But then, how many of us are day-traders? Maybe 1%?
2520  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is ETH overpriced? on: January 04, 2021, 06:22:41 AM
ETH prices have jumped like 40% today, and sadly I have to say that this spike is not going to last for too long. Many of the altcoin fanboys are jumping with joy, claiming that the altcoin season has started. I beg to differ. Whatever pump you are witnessing now, is not going to last for long. The reason is very simple. Altcoins are already overpriced, and very few of them have any real life usage.
