It was supposed to explain that I did not have bad intentions. This was something that others did out in the open.

So, if I were to give you a loan...

And I were to hold your collateral, you don't think that would constitute bad intentions?  What if I had taken every precaution to cause you to believe that you were dealing with two separate people?

Come on, man!  You know what you were doing was wrong, don't play that bad intentions shit.

And I'll be honest, the first thing that came to mind when I read the above paragraph was: who is this guy that gave you this shitty idea, and why haven't you exposed him for the scammer that he is?
It was tomatocage. He was also caught doing this, and no one seemed to care. He also left himself positive trust, which is something I have never done. The above, along with the experience I posted lead me to believe this was an accepted practice. I have since realized this is wrong.

Ah, I see.  Was that before or after you bought the tomatocage account?

Myles Garrett

... Cheesy

Word!

If Browns win, Steelers are likely play them again the following week in the wildcard game, which I think they prefer so this looks like a done deal.

I think the Steelers are pretty much locked into the third seed unless the Bills lose to the Finns, but I think everyone sees that as unlikely.  If the Bills win, the Steelers have nothing to play for.
2563  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: How many of you check the code of open source software? on: December 29, 2020, 11:20:06 PM
I've been slowly learning how to screen the source code of python software.  I actually studied computer science in college, but I haven't done any coding since.  Fortran and Pascal aren't very useful anymore, not that I remember any of it anyway.

Getting into bitcoin has renewed my interest in coding, but I must admit, it's SLOW going.  I don't have the time to dedicate to learning python as quickly as I would like, and often I go months without having any time at all to study for hobby's sake.

Having said that; I don't use open source software unless the packages are digitally signed, and I can verify the signature.  Even if it's only MD5 encryption used to create the signatures, that's usually enough for me if the the software isn't something that could pose a security risk.  Of course I'm very careful what I install on my main PC which does have all my crypto clients installed on it.
2564  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A couple of questions about privacy on: December 29, 2020, 10:11:18 PM
I have been reading about transactions, privacy, coin control etc. The truth is that until now I haven't worried much, but a couple of doubts have arisen.

The first one: if you don't have much bitcoin and you haven't done many transactions, you should be very worried about it?

The second one: would it be a good idea for example that what I earn with the signature campaigns goes to the same address and I use that address to send bitcoin without mixing with other of my addresses?

In other cases I think it will be unavoidable to use different addresses for sending bitcoin if you have little money in the addresses and want to send more.

I could be mistaken, but I think you're concerned about your sig-campaign earnings being linked to your IRL identity?  Regardless, only can answer the question of how important it is to remain anonymous.

Personally, I try to keep any transactions I make as DireWolfM14 separate from, not linkable to "Dire Wolf" the biological entity.  I have made some transactions here on the forum with folks that I trust, and thus exposed my IRL identity, but I'm not too concerned about that.  Not that that's the right thing for you.  Like I said, only you can answer how important it is to you.
2565  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Can't create a transaction that is acceptable (too large transaction!) on: December 29, 2020, 10:02:34 PM
Wow, that must be frustrating.  Sorry you're having that issue.  The only thing I can suggest is trying to break up the transactions into two or three, and see if Electrum will accept them.  The other thought I had: it looks like all 1060 inputs are to the same address, correct?  If you have a bitcoin node running, you could try importing the private key into core and trying to send the transactions using core.  Core should be able to handle all the transactions at once.

Anyway, I'm sure some folks with more knowledge and experience than I have will be along shortly, I'm anxious to learn as well.

Good luck.

While at least one team with 10+ wins will miss the playoffs. This whole "division winner gets to playoffs no matter how much they suck" thing is messed up.

It's essentially the "electoral college" of the NFL  Grin

I just read that Ben Roethlisberger is going to sit out Sunday's game, the Steelers are starting Mason Rudolph.  I don't know enough about Rudolph to know if that's a good or bad thing for the Steelers, but it's starting to look like the Browns will take the win on Sunday.

...the Rams themselves basically don't have to care about W or L against the Cardinals regarding their PO spot, as long as GB beats CHI.

Jared Goff had to have surgery on his thumb, it was broken during the game against the Seahawks.  Looks like he'll be out for Sunday's game against the Cardinals.  I doubt McVay is going to put his trust in another team to get him to the playoffs, so I suspect they'll be fighting hard nonetheless.  With the Bears playing lights-out the way they've been the last couple of weeks, I don't think he's that confident with a loss.  It's hard to see the Packers losing that game, but anything can happen.
2567  Economy / Reputation / Re: Trust Violation Apology on: December 29, 2020, 07:40:44 PM
I can't recall a time when you've blatantly lied about anything.

A couple posts up.   https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5303539.msg55969163#msg55969163

I've reported the post and asked that he be temp banned for using Theymos in his lie.

What am I supposed to do?  PM Theymos and ask him if I received the message?  Its in my frickin inbox lol.

Lol, I did say "blatantly."  I suspect more of QS's semantics games are at play here.

This is false, you were not sent a PM to visit this thread.

2568  Economy / Reputation / Re: Trust Violation Apology on: December 29, 2020, 07:15:03 PM
I was planning on staying out of this, because I don't have a dog in this fight.  QS has always been decent and polite to me, so I have no personal grievances against him.  I've said it before; I enjoy reading QS's posts, and often find his contributions welcome and valuable.

And now, the moment you've all been waiting for; my unsolicited opinion about this apology:

I wanted to apologize to anyone whose trust I may have broken over the years, including but not limited to one particular incident.

At first blush, I was really impressed.  This is great.  Here's an apology for 5 year old dispute, long held grudges, and an obvious abuse of the community's trust.  There's even an a half-hearted acknowledgement that what we suspected is true; Panther52 is QS.

It does take a lot of balls to own up to having made a mistake.  But wait, what's this:

I got the idea from another forum member who was in very good standing, and was well trusted at the time throughout the community -- I entered into a transaction with what turned out to be one of his sockpuppets, and he suggested that we use his 'main' account as a middle man. When I got caught, I lied about being banned in order to cover it up, which was wrong, is something I should not have done, and is something I regret doing.

Who cares where you got the idea? Is that supposed to absolve you of shady dealings?  I watched Ocean's 11 a few weeks ago, but I'm not plotting to rob a casino now.  WTF, over?

And I'll be honest, the first thing that came to mind when I read the above paragraph was: who is this guy that gave you this shitty idea, and why haven't you exposed him for the scammer that he is?

I also wanted to apologize to anyone who I may have otherwise harmed over the years in any other way (I have never stolen from anyone here, or IRL). I am a very principled person, but sometimes did not get other perspectives, or try to be able to see things from the other person's shoes before starting a topic. I should have done better.

I have always cared about my reputation here. Even when I was someone who was well trusted, I did not like it when people opened fake scam accusations because they were upset at me. My intentions were always good, even if my actions were not.

Thank you.

Here you claim that you've never stolen from anyone, but I take issue with that statement.  You admitted that you were providing escrow for your own dealings, and by all appearances you were charging fees for the escrow service.  Claiming that you've never stolen makes me think that semantics are more important to you than actions.  Obviously you were charging for a service that was not provided.  Sure, technically that's not theft, but it's rather deceptive, and certainly fraudulent.  You may not have scammed anyone through your deception, but it was deception nonetheless.  A deception that earned you some marginal fees.  Didn't Wells Fargo just recently get run through the wringer for doing similar stuff?

You also claim that your reputation is important to you, and I have no reason to doubt that.  In fact, I believe you.  You've never let your red tags get in the way of being helpful to others, and I can't recall a time when you've blatantly lied about anything.  But there's a fine line between lying and not telling the truth.  For five years you've been omitting or manipulating facts, obfuscating the truth, and simply steering around accusations of sockputting without actually denying it.

Put all this together, and all of the sudden your claim of being "a very principled person" starts to sound a bit laughable.  Principled people don't do things they know to be wrong, they don't deny responsibility or accountability for having done things that are wrong, and they don't continue to do the wrong thing until they're caught.  They don't wait 5 years after being caught to apologize for their wrongdoings.  So now after having had time to really digest this apology, it comes off as rather contrite.

None of what I wrote above would prevent me from giving you the benefit of the doubt however, if you did actually start to act as if you are a very principled person.  I would suggest coming clean about all of it.  The sockpuppeting, the account sales, the self escrow, the doxxing, all of it.  If you truly care about your reputation, that would be a good place to start.  If you were to come clean, none of these gripes being aired out by Vod and Suchmoon would have any meaning.  They become just that; gripes.  Once you acknowledge and own them, they no longer have power over you.

Responsibility and accountability; traits of very principled people.
2569  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🚀 Sportsbet.io - Official betting partner of ARSENAL FC 🚀 on: December 29, 2020, 03:28:19 PM
I really hope that Arsenal can make 2 wins in a row and beat Brighton tonight because they really need this 3 points of the game or they will find more trouble in their way of trying to get that last spot for Europa Leagues.

Me too.  We really played well against Chelsea, no gimme there, that was earned.  It definitely seemed like the Gunners were playing with a purpose,  the way we all expected when the season started.  That goal by Saka was hilarious, he even seemed surprised, lol

Another nice game today is United - Wolves with both teams looking for a win so it will be a tight game.

That's bound to be a fun one also, but I'll be missing both games unfortunately.  Premier League isn't compatible with employed folks in the Pacific time zone.  I'll be recording both, but I'll likely only watch the Gunners match this evening.

~

That actually looks like a good ticket, best of luck.

I've been having a ton of fun with the betbuilder feature.  I really like how it's laid out and, of course, the odds.  Grin
I've been using it mostly for the NFL games, and had a couple of tickets lose by the smallest of margins, but yesterday I won my first (by the smallest of margins,) Buffalo Bills @ New England Patriots, Monday Night Football:

Here's what I chose for today's Arsenal match, Go Gunners!

Unless Bucs get to the Super Bowl, now that would probably light him on fire.

ROFLOL!  I didn't factor that in, good call.

We know who will not be the Patriots' quarterback next year hehehe.

Do we know who'll be the Patriots coach next year?  I'm watching Belichick's press conference, and the dude seems dejected.  Like he's over it.  What are the odds he'll retire at the end of this season?

Something specific he said during the interview; "they were better in every phase of the game," then went on to list offence, defense, ST, coaching...  It was the way he stressed "coaching."

ETA: 38-9  Shocked

Okay, now it's time to rotate Josh Allen and Stephon Diggs out.  My multi is on the line!

You got lucky there.

I feel inadequate with my -3.5 spread Grin

Lol,  Oh yeah!  I feel lucky.

2574  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: December 29, 2020, 03:21:52 AM
If this goes on Bills alone will do >47. Patriots seem to have given up.

Yeah, no kidding.  I added the under (47.5) to my multi for the game, yes I put my money where my mouth is.  Another touch down and that's about all it can handle.

And the Refs just tried to give the Bill the ball at NE's 5 yard line.  Roll Eyes

ETA: 38-9  Shocked

Okay, now it's time to rotate Josh Allen and Stephon Diggs out.  My multi is on the line!

I'd give up too if I had to watch Cam miss all those easy 10 yard throws all day. Cheesy

Lol!  Looks like you don't have to anymore; Jason Stidham is in, Cam is out.

I can't help but feel a bit sorry for Cam.  He was such an arrogant pompous asshole for so many years, but at least he had some game to partially back up his inflated pride in himself.  Now he's just pathetic.
2575  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: December 28, 2020, 11:49:54 PM
So is Wentz going to be traded?
asking for a friend

Lol, tell your friend that would be the best thing that could happen to Wentz.  I think he's a good quarterback in a bad system.

I think the Bills could easily cover that -6.5 spread but i'm more confident on the over 47 after they put up nearly 50 against the Broncos. Their team total o27 looks tempting as well hopefully we'll see a lot of scoring from both sides.

On paper both look like a good bet, but the last time these two teams met the Bills won 24 to 20.  Neither of those bets would have won, but I don't recall what the spread or the O/U projections were for that meeting.

Obviously the Patriots aren't the team they used to be, but never underestimate that damage a division rival can inflict.

If they make the mistake of trusting an invalid signature, you don't transact with them for that particular deal.

Lol, maybe I should start offering escrow services again.  Not to actually offer escrow services, but to trick newbies into learning about encryption.  If only I had the time...
2577  Economy / Reputation / Re: Warning: I don't use telegram! The Pharmacist impersonator is active there on: December 28, 2020, 11:35:09 PM
Just advocate for the requesting of a signed message before any transaction.

This is a good suggestion, but unfortunately it tends to fall on deaf (newbie) ears.  When I was offering escrow services I don't know how many times people asked me to share my escrow address in Telegram.  It made me cringe, and I'd have to go on this long rant how they should never trust an address posted on Telegram, only trust addresses posted on the forum, and signed with a PGP key, yada yada yada.  Some would get it, but many wouldn't.

Every escrow address I generated was signed with my PGP key and posted in my escrow thread or sent via PM, but if I had to guess how many of those signatures were actually checked, I'd speculate it was a small fraction.
2578  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🚀 Sportsbet.io - Official betting partner of ARSENAL FC 🚀 on: December 28, 2020, 06:40:28 PM
another multi ruined, didn't expect liverpool to be the one to mess it all up Lips sealed

Not the first time this season, am afraid. They've killed me more often than I care to admit.

BTW, anyone know what happens to freebets on postponed games like Everton-City? I do recall they expired 28th (today) so will we be getting fresh freebets or is that down the drain? I see my Everton-City FB now settled (but in gray). My freebet went there, one of it anyway!

I've been bitten twice by Liverpool, but I can't blame them exclusively.  One particular multi-bet that looked like a sure thing was ruined by the Hotspurs, LFC, and Arsenal.  I mean, okay you expect Arsenal (my favorite team) to fuck things up, lol, but LFC and the Spurs too?

This year has been so bizarre.  Most years it seems like it's been easier to predict the upsets, but this year is a mystery.  Look at Leeds United; they were flying high at the beginning of the season, which struck me as quite odd.  Now they look like a typical promoted team that's doing better than expected.
2579  Economy / Reputation / Re: Warning: I don't use telegram! The Pharmacist impersonator is active there on: December 28, 2020, 05:58:06 PM
I'm certainly not the first member who's name has been appropriated in order to pull off a scam, and I'm sure I won't be the last.

No, you're not, but thank you for the heads-up.  The worst is when this kind of thing happens to a trusted member who's no longer active, because it makes it harder for the targeted victims to confirm.  This happened a few months ago to monbux, and I have reason to believe it was Elmanches attempting the scam.

The trouble is that a lot of people using Telegram don't confirm the identity of the individual they're communicating with.  I like Telegram, I find it to be a useful tool, but it can easily be abused.

How and why i will not tell you my kindness have limits!!

Really?  What is that limit?

You've started 55 topics since the beginning of December, and no one has stopped you.  Nearly all of the thread you've created are in boards that don't show your trust rating, so what's the problem with your trust rating?  Most of those threads contain little information, other than you trying to convince people that you know what you're talking about, when it's painfully clear that you have no clue.

Now you're hear complaining that you're not being respected?  Read the responses to those threads you've created.  Considering the stupid drivel and blatant misinformation that you spew, I'd say that most of those responses are quite respectful.
