1581  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: ThatsMod user scammer on: May 19, 2022, 12:59:41 AM
Good day to all

Good day to you.

I do not understand at all what is being discussed here

Perhaps I can help; the OP claims you you contacted him on Telegram in response to an ad he posted here.  Here's a screenshot of a Telegram chat supporting his assertion:

Then the OP asked the Telegram user to verify that identity on Bitcointalk.org, here's the screenshot:

As you can see in the screenshot above, the Telegram user "Crypto Has" claims to be you, and posted a link to your profile: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2720302
The OP then asks for a PM as verification.  As you can also see, "Crypto Has" replied that it was sent.  The OP also posted this screenshot of what really looks like a PM from you:

Of course it's possible that the OP made this all up, and photo-chopped a bunch of damning evidence to ruin your experience on the forum.  I guess.  But otherwise, this looks like pretty damning evidence.

There is a way to clear this up.  You can ask theymos to confirm if that PM was actually sent or if it's a fake.  If theymos says it was a fake, I promise to remove the red-tag.

Thanks, and have a great day.

ThatsMod was online again this morning, and I see he has yet to address this accusation.  I've left him a negative review, hopefully that will motivate him to respond.

DireWolfM14    2022-05-18    Reference    Plausible scam accusation against this user. The review will be removed if the accusations is adequately addressed. (Delete)

~

It's rare that I pay attention to this kind of stuff, this time of year.  A lot of it is show and the ends are usually different than what's "rumored."  A great example is the draft-time drama from the Niners and Deebo, the latest with that of course; they're working on a contract, lol.

Every team in the league that's ever promoted a quarterback has given the media reason to believe that they still need the quarterback they've demoted.  For whatever bargaining leverage that's likely to offer, that's probably all this is.

But if you ask me, I'm not sure the kid is ready to start.  Tongue

Pretty soon basketball season will be over and then it’s just baseball, at least for those of us who are in the United States, my point being I miss football and can’t wait for it to start up.

I'm not of an NBA fan, but it's been fun watching the Warriors lately.  Except for that one game in Memphis.  Roll Eyes

I haven't been watching the USFL at all, has that been good?  There are a couple of other sports I like to follow this time of year, but my other favorite, the Premiere League ends this weekend.  There's still MotoGP and MLS for the remaining time between now and kickoff.  But the anticipation of the new season starts in earnest around July.

Just curious who you guys top targets are for next year in fantasy, any guys you plan on targeting ?

Haha!  Nice try, funny guy.

It's absolutely ridiculous that we're on page three of this nothing burger.

Lets assume everything the accused have said is a lie; they are all indeed owned by one individual; so what?  Has he broken the rules?  Let's see:

Merit exchange?  That's been addressed by theymos, nothing to see here.
Signature cheating?  Nope, the accounts registered in campaigns are registered in different ones.
Scamming?  No evidence of such.
Spamming?  That's subjective, but it's not an offense deserving of a red-tag.

All I see is they posted in the same topic, and used the same numbering system for their photos.  To be honest, I don't believe the tall tale of computer system rebuilds and friends working in the same office either, but who cares?

What is it you guys expect to accomplish here?

These types of which hunts are more damaging to the reputation of the forum than anything these spamming alts have done.  In fact, if these accounts were to be tagged THAT would be spam, spamming of the Trust System.

Overzealous DT members are more damaging to this forum than any spammer could hope to be!

One thing for sure about being an Arsenal fan, the gunners like to keep it interesting.  Undecided

I can't wait to see what happens this weekend, Everton has been fighting hard the last couple of weeks, but hopefully Arsenal can take the three points.  Not that it matters much, I really don't expect Norwich to take any points from the Spurs.

BNAX Europe Limited is a global premier cryptocurrency exchange supporting over 100 cryptocurrencies with a trading volume exceeding 1$ billion and totalling more than 1 million users worldwide.

This user has been absent since August of 2019, and previously posted only in Russian.  Now he's woken up and spamming this drivel (written in nearly perfect English) all over the forum.  The site he's spamming for has a splash page that warns you about scams, lol.  Then you'll notice the "exchange" that's selling bitcoin for about 10% more than any legit exchange.  If this were real, people would deposit shitcoins, exchange them for bitcoin, rinse, lather, repeat.

The $100 bonus is obviously a ruse to get you to deposit your money, and wait two weeks so all your friends whom you referred will have the chance to get scammed also.

Don't waste your time with this bounty, it's a scam.

Hello guys, this campaign doesn't belong to 1xBit and just partly copied-pasted from our original thread.

This was posted by the official 1xBit account.  If you sign up for this bounty there's a very good chance you will not get paid, and it's almost certain that you will be red-tagged by some DT members with very little tolerance for promoting 1xBit (which itself is a scam casino.)

In other words:

Don't apply for this bounty!
1588  Economy / Reputation / Re: Another 1xbit scammer with new service on: May 16, 2022, 02:40:19 PM
Well this is an interesting development; the official 1xBit account has refuted that the most recent campaign is there's.

Hello guys, this campaign doesn't belong to 1xBit and just partly copied-pasted from our original thread.

I don't know what's going on but someone is trolling the forum for one reason or another.  If this was posted by a scam hunter as a honey pot to trap applicants, that's some pretty fucked up shit.  Who ever it is should be ashamed of himself.

Oh, as always. You cannot engage in a substantive discussion, but resort to a stupid change of topic.
I hope you will stop being a coward someday and embark on a real discussion.

As always?  I don't recall ever engaging in any dialogue with you.  But fine, you want to have a real discussion?  I'm game.

Let's start with the evidence, here's a bunch you'll pretend doesn't exist; go to your favorite search engine, paste the following code, and hit enter:

Code:
1xbit scam

To much to sift through?  I agree, let's filter the results to only include accusations posted on this here forum:

Code:
1xbit scam site:bitcointalk.org

Hundreds of results still too many?  Yeah, sorry but you asked for it.

Now back to the other topic of your reputation.  It seems you've been shilling for scam casinos for years now.

I have been in the 1xbit signature campaign for a year and it is true! They pay regularly and fairly!

If you have evidence that something dishonest is going on, present it, otherwise I call you a liar!

No one has claimed that they didn't pay you for wearing the signature, and you know that's not what's being said.  Stop deflecting from the truth, which is the casino has been known to scam their clients.  There's plenty of evidence that has happened and continues to happen.

Have I written anything somewhere about deflecting from the truth? If you say there is evidence, please don't deflect from the truth and present it. I would love to see them.

For your kind information..

Are you sure this is the answer to me?

Manchester City... that was close today. Maybe the championship will be decided next Tuesday. FC Southampton maybe win against Liverpool and City have 4 points more on the last matchday. Now it's still a little exciting, but I think Manchester City are 85% the champion. The last matchday against Aston Villa, that's no problem.
City's last match is against Aston Villa. Aston Villa's performance is not enough good. Winning this match will probably ensure the victory of Manchester City. Liverpool's next match is against Southampton. As Liverpool has consistently performed well, I think they will win against Southampton. And so the last match will be a do-or-die match for Manchester City. The city must win by any means.
Even today Manchester City was not good and done few mistakes but still a draw is winning title for them because now they have only one match against Aston Villa at home and with this win their lead will be seven points which is enough Liverpool is having two matches, and they can win both with this they will be able to reduce these seven points lead into one, and they are going to stay at second spot with Chelsea is going to stay at third.

We have tough battle between Tottenham and Arsenal for fourth spot which is mostly in favor of Tottenham as now they have only one match against Norwich and Arsenal is going to face Newcastle United and Everton both are not easy games for them.

Hats off to Brentford for holding off Everton's onslaught.  I don't think Brentford is getting enough credit for their accomplishments this season.  They came into the league on a tear after not playing in the topflight league since the middle ages.  It's fun to see a promoted club secure themselves a spot for next year.

At the same time it's sad to see such a proud, old club like Everton have to fight for their lives.  They did today; it was apparent from the start they came to play, some maybe a little too enthusiastically, lol.  They're barely safe for now, and with two matches to go they can still pull themselves out.  If they can manage three points on Thursday, they can take Sunday off.  Tongue

Tottenham has one match left to play, and since it's against Norwich, we may as well award the Cocks the three points.  If Arsenal is to finish fourth they need to win both of their remaining matches.  A tie in points would go to Tottenham.

I got a new computer. I'm new to GPG Verification. I can't remember how I managed to do the GPG verification the 1st time and I can't get it done again on downloading the newer version. I've looked at all the tutorials and it just won't work the way it says its supposed to work.

I'm sure we can help you out if you give us more information.  Answering the questions posed by o_e_l_e_o would help us help you.

Some significant changes have been made to the way the developers sign releases, but verification workflow should be the same as the last time you did it.  There will be more signatures in the .asc file, so the results will look slightly different.

Do you guys think I should try ledger live I got a native-segwit type wallet that's the 1 with cheapest fees correct?

I prefer to use Electrum over LedgerLive, but it really comes down to personal preference.  There's not much difference these days, both will give you pretty good control of your coins, and shouldn't have any issues with any type of address.

Unless someone has an easy GPG Verification tutorial so I can verify and download the newest electrum portable version.

I'd like to believe that my tutorial is pretty easy to follow.  I'd love to hear it if you disagree.

They know that they have zero credibility to the forum users but still they are spending money. 1xbit is bigger now, they are spending millions in advertising through out every possible channel. I see them everywhere including TV sponsorships. How the fuck a group of scammers manage to do it with a level zero shame?

I think you're confusing 1xBet (which appears to be legitimate) with 1xBit.  They are not the same entity, and although there's speculation that they're affiliated, I doubt that too.  I suspect that the scammers behind 1xBit chose the name to take advantage of the recognition and fame of 1xBet.

I really cannot believe there is still someone who believes that. From what I have seen, 1XBit is either an unlicensed version of 1XBET or an affiliate of 1XBET. I am not sure whether they are from the same owners or not. But I am sure that 1XBET controls all the important stuff. They may indeed be the whitelabel of 1XBET, but they cannot by any means be different entities.

Please don't take this as an argument, I'm only asking out of honest curiosity; how can you be so certain?  I've never used either site, so I don't know, but are you saying they're using the same software?  I know there've been a lot of scam accusations against 1xBet too, but I figured that was just inherent in their line of work.  After a quick search, I now see that they've been banned by many countries for various abuses, they're even banned in their home country of Russia.  How does a scammer get banned in Russia?  Not greasing the right palms?

In response to BitcoinGirl.Club's comments, however it's worth making the distinction: It's 1xBet that is advertising on TV and at sports venues.  At least they used to.  They were one of the main sponsors of Barcelona FC a couple of years ago.

Wow, that was very impressive outing by West Ham.  LFC fans should be thanking the Irons for keeping the race alive.  Premiere League is never more exciting than when the championship will not be determined until the final week of the season.

The race for forth place is also pretty exciting, but since I'm an Arsenal fan I wish it wasn't.

My vote is that it's a honeypot trap setup by JollyGood.  Grin
Saves him the time of hunting down people who promote scams, they now come to him for tagging.

Lol.  If that's the case, his honeypot is only luring turds that have been painted red already.  Almost all the applicants already have red-tags, and only a few of them for promoting 1xBit previously.

But seriously, at this point does it even matter. If people think that they are not going to be the one getting hit by 1x not paying out then they will gamble there no matter what we say. What they are is not hidden....

That's the sad part; if they're still here, with the same name, pulling the same old stunts it means something is working.  Previous casino scammers would make a run for a few months, then change their name and try again.
1599  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin Wallet Download: How Do I Get Sending Address and Private Key? on: May 14, 2022, 05:26:56 PM
For Electrum, you can download it directly from Electrum official site, https://electrum.org, you can also verify its signature to make sure the site has not been compromised before you downloaded the wallet.

@Charles-Tim asked me if there was a way to verify PGP signatures on Android.  Unfortunately I don't know of a great way to do it.  The topic was recently discussed in the Electrum sub; here's my response but it's worth reading the whole thread.

If you have access to a PC, you can use the guide quoted above to verify the .apk file and sideload it onto your phone.  That's the method I find inspires the most confidence.
1600  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum gpg signature verification on android on: May 14, 2022, 05:11:24 PM
I was asked to respond to another thread about checking the PGP signature on Android, but a lot has been said here so far, so I'll just add my opinion.

Unfortunately, I don't think there is a secure way of verifying PGP signatures on an Android.

I checked the OpenPGP site for Android apps, and only found email encryption clients.

A quick glance at the GnuPG downloads page does list an Android package that was developed by the Guardian Project.  If you follow that link you'll be directed to a page indicating the project is no longer supported, and directing you to the OpenKeychain project.

At first glance the OpneKeychain project looks promising; lots of downloads and decent reviews, but the only way I've found to get the software is from google's app store or an alternate app store.  It is open-source, so I can download the source code from from github, and build my own .apk after verifying it as safe (assuming I know how to do that.)  But I have not found a developer provided, gpg signed .apk binary.  Strange.

Then while reading OpneKeychain FAQs something caught my eye; they recommend sharing your secret keys between devices by transferring them via cloud services.  Okay, it's an encrypted backup, but come on, what's wrong with a USB cable?  Maybe it's just me, I do have trust issues.  Including issues trusting app stores for reasons already discussed, and so it should be obvious I'm not alone.  The reason we're all here is to keep ourselves as safe and secure as possible.  More links added to the chain of trust only contribute to additional risk.  So I think I'll stick to side-loading the Electrum .apk after verifying it on a PC with a trusted PGP client.

But don't get me wrong, I'm not always a security Nazi.  I've been known to use the google app store to load electrum, but only after verifying the .apk file found the release directory, following the link from the Electrum's downloads page to the google play store.  There are obvious risks to this method, but everybody needs to assess their own risks accordingly.  I've often said about (hot) mobile wallets that they should never contain more money than your fiat/cash wallet.

I understand that many people don't have PCs these days, and can only access their bitcoin on a phone; to those people I suggest you invest in a hardware wallet that works with your phone.  Consider it a very affordable insurance policy.
