261  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Antminer S1 open for sale again] The last round before the Chinese New Year on: January 27, 2014, 05:46:52 PM

I just used a plain paper towl, it wipes right off easily enough.

I used toilet paper, but there is paste stuck between the tiny things around the chips (VRMs?) and it is impossible to clean there.
I just turned it on and it's working, so not going to bother to cleat it perfectly.

I ran it w/o an antenna but my AP is less than 10 meters away. Actually have 3 units connected to my wifi as well as the wired. Not sure if I see any degraded performance or more stales/dropped shares.

Oh so it even works without an antenna, is that what you are saying?
I plugged one anyway, but the signal is very poor - my router is nearby, but behind a wall in a corner.

Guys, that empty fan header on the other board - is it a standard one? Can I plug a 3 pin fan into it?
262  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Antminer S1 open for sale again] The last round before the Chinese New Year on: January 27, 2014, 05:02:43 PM
Guys what is the best way to clean the thermal paste without wasting too much time?
I just received 6 out of the 9 I ordered and just opened one of them = thermal paste all over the place.

Also for some reason the driver didn't ask for any money. Maybe when they deliver the remaining 3 he will ask?

The PSUs are coming tomorrow  Angry

Pop down to Maplins and get some "Switch cleaner" its the best thing for cleaning computer components, I've been using it for over 10 years to clean TIM and other crap off electrical equipment. Comes in an aerosol can.

Cheers for the tip - I reserved some PSUs at Maplin anyway, so will grab the cleaner too.
So the 1st Ant is hashing away at 180.48GH/s with temps below 40 and 350W at the wall.
I see 2 green lights rapidly blinking on both boards, but I assume that is OK.

What I want to know is can I just plug an WiFi antenna in the plug near the fan and connect it wirelessly to my network? How does the Wi-Fi functionality works without buying extra equipment as mentioned in the guide?

Do not pay attention to it. Most probably it is non conductive. It is not good for the boards, but you can ignore it and move on with mining  Smiley

Most probably is not good enough  Wink cause it might be conductive.
I will clean it anyway as it will be a mess to touch it.

I have the Arctic Silver ArctiClean Thermal Material Remover & Surface Purifier 60ml Kit, but these are small bottles  Undecided
264  Economy / Marketplace / Re: FREE 240 Gh Hashing when ordering a KnC Neptune on: January 27, 2014, 03:51:47 PM
I am certain this was a scam from the beginning.
The link where you can track each reseller sales also does not work anymore: http://reseller.kncminer.com/orders
And I just got a reply from KNC that: We do not change reseller IDs connected to the orders any longer.
How convenient.

We should all press KNC to remove his reseller status and his awards. I will organize this later on as we have plenty of time until Neptunes start shipping anyway.

I have 9 coming today, but the PSUs I ordered will be here tomorrow  Cry

The idiots from scan.co.uk delayed my order, because the ATX bridging plugs I got too were out of stock and they wanted to know what to do.

Talking about scam THIS guy managed to trick a lot of people into using his reseller link and he is the 3rd top KNC reseller: http://reseller.kncminer.com/orders

More info: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=348743.msg4755253#msg4755253

Fortunate for him KNC changed their policy to only allow change of the reseller info on an order if both the buyer and seller requested it.
Hopefully enough people would complain and he will lose his reseller status and all his awards.

That is called deception.
268  Economy / Marketplace / Re: FREE 240 Gh Hashing when ordering a KnC Neptune on: January 26, 2014, 05:27:58 PM
So I am fairly certain this whole thread was a scam from the beginning. And a lot of us fell for it.
It looks like he did well as a reseller: http://reseller.kncminer.com/orders

234 Sales and 59 Orders, which I assume means 59 Neptunes were paid.

The good thing is Bitcoinorama told me that if enough people report this guy to KNC then they will most probably remove him as a reseller and withdraw his rewards.
So I urge everyone to contact KNC and report this guy. Later on this week I will provide you with a template letter to forward to KNC, which you can edit if you want.
Also I will be contacting everyone on this list personally.

Also it is very likely that the scammer is reading this topic and he might conveniently re-appear with a made up story of why he was away and not being able to participate here, even though he has regularly visited the forum as I was checking him daily. He will probably try to convince us that all is good, when he see that he will most probably loose all his rewards and his reseller status, which is what he deserves anyway.
Please don't fall for it.

Is kncminers.com a fake web site? No SSL certificate and points to a different IP.  Shocked

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=429513.500

It must be, yet for reasons I cannot understand it let me view my personal details and orders, without me even providing my username or password. It just mirrors the real site.

It's just the KNC site in a frame

Code:
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Frameset//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/frameset.dtd">
<html>
  <head>
    <title>KnCMiner</title>
        <meta HTTP-EQUIV="content-type" CONTENT="text/html; charset=UTF-8">
  </head>

  <frameset>
    <frame marginwidth=0 marginheight=0 frameborder=0 name="TOPFRAME" src="https://www.kncminer.com/?resellerid=339" noresize>
  </frameset>
</html>

That's the entire source code. Odd if it isn't KNC run.

Hm, did not check the source code Smiley
So I assume they can perform a man in the middle attack and get any login details sent to the real site?

So it is becoming obvious that you and your brother have been pumping up the sales for the fraudsters. Of course, now you and your brother have to find a way to disassociate from the fraud, so you come here and show that you found evidence which indicates they are fraudsters. But this evidence has already been presented, so you are not showing anything new. You are just throwing bullshit around in a desperate attempt to hide your participation in the fraud. You are certainly astronomically stupid to post the above information and pretend that was not uncovered before:

I have spoken with Phoenix on Skype a few times + bought a Jupiter from him, where I trusted him by sending the coins first and then waited for the miner to arrive from Hawaii.
From these interactions I can conclude with fair certainty that it is highly unlikely he is a scammer.
I thing he just fell for the scam because greed took over and he wanted to be first in line as usual.

Hm, I have no idea why but http://www.kncminers.com/ shows me logged in with all my personal details, order history + items that I left in the basket on the original site.

Always look for the HTTPS verification from a trusted third party.
There should be a HTTPS padlock that says..
"Website: www.kncminer.com"
"Owner: Kennemar & Cole AB"
"Verified by: Thawte, Inc."

I know what to look for, but how does it show all of my personal info if I have never logged in?
I believe it's because of cookies, which came from the original site, but somehow apply to this one too.

Anyone who logs in on a fake site gives the bogus site their username and password which they can use to retrieve your details I guess.

Let me repeat myself: I have never logged in on that website, yet I am logged in.

I cannot even open the shopping basket my browser tells me it's not secure.

I just logged out on http://www.kncminers.com/ and I was logged out on http://www.kncminer.com/
Then I logged back in on http://www.kncminer.com/ and I was logged in on http://www.kncminer.com/ too.

Btw who made the connection between CTS and CMS?
Was it Rebecca or someone here?

Read the thread and most of your questions will be answered.  BUT, yes, Rebecca made the connection and I validated it to my satisfaction.  Read the thread to see my findings..

I have read it from post 1 to last post, but just can't remember where it got mentioned first.

I don't see where Rebecca mentions or confirms CMS being the parent company.

4 emails, for 2 orders.

diff order #s, diff BTC addresses, diff tx codes, SAME tracking #s

and no reply to PMs , Mails or Forum Posts.

i aint mad, but would appreciate some clarification.

i was 'this close' to going for a bunch more...

And your Bitmain account shows both were shipped?

yep.

and thx btw for responding in a timely manner and asking for as much info as possible - i only wish you were bitmain

I wonder who exactly is Bitmain? To me it is an anonymous figure that I sent quite a lot of BTC hoping he/she/they will not run away with.
If I had to guess they are probably a few people that are just overwhelmed with the volume of communication they are receiving.
So far I sent them emails 3 times and got responses on 2 of them, with the 3rd one me asking about a discount code  Grin
So far I am happy with them. My main worry is receiving faulty units Sad
