£120 (Good quality PSU for example Corsair HX850)

That won't be enough. For Jupiter you would need to have at least HX1050 PSU (or better) to be on the safe side. ($240, £155)

Also, you forgot import taxes. Wink At least for Norway, that's 25% of the unit cost. Don't know about Sweden->UK

Everyone please ignore this post. If you were to buy a HX1050 for a 1000W Jupiter, you would essentially be running at near 95% load.

How did you come to this conclusion?

agree that GPU mining is not dead Grin
here is mine (upgraded version):

how much power it's takes?

DON'T go out buying a PSU, they've stated that before. They will recommend closer to the delivery date.

You like telling me things that I already know, don't you  Tongue

Let's try the other way around - do you know which cable/cables from the PSU will be used to power the miner? (I know the answer to this one too)
1264  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: August 16, 2013, 03:47:00 PM

That's an overkill unless you want to power 1x Jupiter and 1x Mercury.

There is no reason to buy a single huge expensive ATX for the Jupiter.
You can achieve the same or better results using two smaller Power units, which cost less than a single Biggie.

What PSU will you recommend then?
In my opinion Seasonic and Corsair make the best ones, but other brands are good too - Antec, Enermax, Coolermaster, OCZ, Silverstone Smiley

Here's the best summary.  Read it and weep.

Thank you Smiley
Was there an official post in this thread?

Sadly the biggest worry on shipment would be customs if anyone has been following the Avalon chip hostage crisis...

I would be driving to the customs office pronto on first hint of any delays

Feels so good to be in the EU right now and so close to Sweden. I would expect to have a 1 day delivery straight to my door Smiley

I'm 99% positive it will be enough. I don't expect Jupiter to consume more than 900W and this specific PSU have a headroom for more than 1000W

Check THIS review:
A quote from it:
Quote
Finally in test 7 the HX850W was hooked up to both of our load testing machines to try and bring the unit to its knee's. Did I manage it?...did I hell! With 21A on both the +3.3v and +5v rails and 73A on the +12v rail the PSU was still laughing at me while delivering rock solid voltages. That's 1084W by the way, 234W more than what it says on the box!
And this one: http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=Story&reid=153

No taxes of dispatches within the EU Smiley
I though Norway was part of EU, but I was wrong: The non-EU member states of Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein and Switzerland participate in the single market but not in the customs union.

I wish I had the patience and free time to read 58 pages, but I don't.

Can someone write a quick summary of what the news are without much sarcasm or insults Smiley

Thank you Smiley

I was making a basic comparison between KNC Hosting and Home Hosting and here are the results (they are based on delivery to UK).

Jupiter Hosting 6 Months costs = $2200 = ~ £1400
Delivery and 6 months hosting at home
£120 (Good quality PSU for example Corsair HX850)
£80 - Delivery
£550 - Power costs for 6 months
£150 - Missed revenue during transit based on 150 mil difficulty and ~ $100 for 1 BTC. Probably it will be even less for October deliveries.

So in my opinion it is not worth it to purchase hosting unless you want the quickest response in case of a fault.
1271  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: August 16, 2013, 02:26:16 PM

If you were referring to shady "shares of the resulting miner" arrangements or somesuch, nevermind you're on your own.

Obviously I'm referring to that issue Smiley
I'll order though you and then what happens?

If you order through someone who has an affiliate link you still buy through the merchants site as usual, just the referral link is acknowledged and a tally is kept for the affiliate salesperson. As per KnC's deal for every 10 sales they have a unit equal to 10% of that hashpower they have resold.

There is nothing that effects you, your purchase, or your consumer rights.

There's no greater risk buying through an affiliate, but if I personally get paid I'm seen as a scumbag, so would rather sit it out. Peace.

Dude, are you sleepy again?
You are explaining to me how much is 2+2.
I'm perfectly aware of this.
I'm just looking for a way to capitalize on the reseller program by sharing the expected dividends.

Why don't you  register as reseller and buy off yourself.

Or was this the question to knc when you called them?

No, I haven't asked them that.
And I intend to purchase just 2x Jupiters, which is nowhere near the 10 sales quota.
Unless there are people who would trust me and order though me Smiley
1274  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: August 16, 2013, 01:53:18 PM
You've been one of the few that followed through and made some calls prior to make sure you're behaving responsibly before purchasing anything here, so good luck bud Wink

When I spoke with him today he made a remark: "It's good you did a research", which most people don't do Smiley

Still I don't see a reason why you souldn't register as a reseller Smiley
It's free Smiley
1275  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: August 16, 2013, 01:31:29 PM
Shame you didn't ask how long to get it hashing if hosted. That's got to take some time, they arent hosted at the factory and need setting up when they get to the hosting facility. Hard to compare without knowing that.

Call and ask Wink

I just got off the phone with Sam and he was really helpful and gave me answers to all my questions Smiley
So don't be shy and call if you have questions Smiley
1276  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: August 16, 2013, 01:27:00 PM
Actually there was a thread where some guy had his Avalon stolen ...
but I couldn't be bothered looking for it and I don't know what came of it.

Yeah that guy had also announced to the world how rich he was through Bitcoin, his name and where he lived.

He then followed it up by selling his Porsche for Bitcoin and basking in the press again stating how rich he was, what his name was and where he lived.

He then promptly told everyone about his Avalon printing press. He may as well have left the door open to be fair. People need to use some common sense. If these were jewellery boxes you wouldn't tell all who would listed what you had and where you kept it, now would you?

Bitcoinorama, why don't you register as a reseller?
I'll be ordering 2 Jupiters soon and to be honest there's no one I feel I can trust.
I wrote to John K, Graet, theymos and Gavin, but nothing Sad
1277  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: CoinTerra announces its first ASIC - Hash-Rate greater than 500 GH/s on: August 16, 2013, 11:02:50 AM

Besides (and again this is UK) you have upto 56 days to cover payment before they can charge interest.
Actually that differs between banks. The CC I got yesterday with Metro Bank has e 60 days interest free period.
1278  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: KNC just posted pics of their case, PCB samples coming next week \o/ on: August 16, 2013, 01:01:30 AM
Yes Please Show us the Asic Chips and the rest can come later.

Is this a bot?

It sounds like one and not very inteligent too.
1279  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Secured payments, consumer protection and buyer recourse... on: August 16, 2013, 12:41:33 AM
Please UNSTICKY this thread!

The way I read him, Bitcoinorama is a paid shill that bashes bitcoin as a payment mechanism every chance he gets, and promotes the use of credit cards and paypal, which are inferior payment mechanisms.  The is classic sock-puppet behavior, either he wants to discourage use of bitcoin, discourage re-investment in asic mining equipment, or some other agenda, but this post and all his posts are pure opinion, no facts.  And that opinion is negative.

He has polluted many threads except the KNCMiner thread, like Hashfast and avalon threads, with his annoying garbage posts touting the benefits of the decades-old 16 + 7 digit and string plaintext based payment technology that employs tens of thousands of paper pushers to work at all, not to mention the armies of police and investigators to try to hold it all together from rampant fraud and abuse.  I'm sick of reading about how great credit cards are on a bitcoin forum.  This guy needs to shut up.

All he does is slander our businesses and bitcoin itself - he is unworthy of a sticky.

As to visa and mastercard - did you know that they recently had to pay a $6 billion settlement - that's 6 X the market cap of bitcoin itself - for unconscionable business practices with there merchants over a several year period?  Well they did!  And the amount of money that ASIC manufacturers would get or could raise from credit card payments is far less than from bitcoin payments.  Everyone knows this if they think about it for a few minutes, so please take Bitcoinorama's comments with a huge grain of salt.

So you live in dreamland and believe that the present banking system will just die piecefully and give way to the glorious bitcoin to take over the world of payments?
Maybe in year 3265 Smiley
Until then I would use my CC whenever I can Smiley

I'm sure software could be made that pings you ip location if the device is taken

We are going really off track here but IP location is not precise at all. It will just show the city, maybe the block/district.
