Good news, looks like quality all the way.

So if I understand correct there will be 4 of these boards connected to a one board (the main PCB) inside the case and each of the smaller boards will have one ASIC chips on it, right?

Then why are there 4 slots for chips per PCB?

The chip pictured is only they as reference to overall size as it's a known component.

Let me ask again:

So if I understand correct there will be 4 of these boards connected to a one board (the main PCB) inside the case and each of the smaller boards will have one ASIC chips on it, right?

Then why are there 4 slots for chips per PCB?

1243  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ixcoin TODO on: August 21, 2013, 10:16:55 AM
I'm curious how many people on here are accumulating some ixCoins.  Whether by mining or purchasing them, how many are planning to hold say at least 10,000 ixCoins as speculation?  That's hardly more than half of 1 Bitcoin.  TIA

Like I said before I have 15K that I bought in 2011 and which I still keep, but only because I've accepted the fact that it was bad investment decision. I had a small window of opportunity back then to make a profit, but I slept through it, so until I see a good reason to sell them, I'm going to keep them Smiley
1244  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: August 20, 2013, 11:57:36 AM
I've been getting all the response I want via email. Bitching in this forum is the worst way to get answers.

Haha exactly. The guy has some weird expectation and all he does is keep demanding them here. It's like trying to talk to the band, while screaming at a concert  Grin
1245  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: August 20, 2013, 11:24:33 AM
You seem to have your own ideas of how their business should be run, but unfortunately I have neither the time nor the desire to even try to persuade you and change your mind. That would be a complete waste of time Smiley You can only take, but not give by force Smiley

You asked questions and I answered. Now you are just pretending that I was trying to tell KnCminer how they should run their business, when in fact, you made the inquire for the answers.

If you do not have time for a discussion, what the fuck are you doing in this forum at all?

But just a hint: They had a large Technical announcement that consisted of Performance improvements to Jupiter and Saturn and Power usage news.

Did they specified what is the best PSU for their equipment? Where this announcement was made after 19th June 2013? I provided you with a link. Please, at least provide a link for the "large Technical announcement" promised. Otherwise you are really just wasting your and my time with your nitpicking questions.

Don't let my presence here stop you from asking questions and expecting answers Smiley
Just don't expect to receive these answers from me Smiley

None, I am talking about the lack of communication of a business using this venue.

Why KNC should use this topic as a method of communication, when over 95% of its content is filled with posts from people, who have no interest in purchasing a miner? Do you think it is easy to follow a topic that grows 10 pages every day?
What is so difficult in writing an email or calling them and getting answers direct?

This is basic PR 101...

If KnCminer had kept responding to all valid concerns, 95% of the topic content would never be filled with speculation, repetitive questions and fictional assertions. They would instigate a great level of confidence and trust among the forum participants. This would only attract more and more people interested to become customers. People would discuss directly with the providers of the information and all their doubts would be suppressed as much as possible. This is not rocket science and it works far better than answer every individual message sent by other channels.

Think how much resources are necessary only to call them and get answer for simple questions. It is far better and easy to produce regular announcements and answer similar questions at once than keep answering endless telephone calls and countless e-mail messages.

I agree with the answer your implied in your question. It is really annoying follow a topic being bloated by users like Bitcoinorama at every minute. I really understand why someone would feel exhausted reading this topic. I myself sometimes get completely lost trying to figure out if I missed any news from KnCminer.

Please, understand that my criticism is not directed at people with genuine concerns, except if they decide to resort to personal insults. I will react proportionally if someone try to divert the original subject of my posts to hide the fact that KnCminer is not cultivating a good relationship with their potential customers.

KnC promissed weeks ago to publish specific details about the required PSU to work with their design. So far no response has been provided by them.

Can you show me where they promised that?

Yes, here:

Hi Guys

Sorry for butting in in your discussion but don't buy any power supplies yet.

We will have a large Technical announcement coming next week. Where we will give even more accurate Power figures and GH/s.

It will be a significant announcement which I hope will make all of our customers happy. and no before you ask I wont reveal any details before that newsletter goes out Smiley

again please don't buy a 1200W power supply you simply will not need one that powerful or expensive.

Sam

1247  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] xCrowd*US/UK*TH/s+ Units on: August 20, 2013, 10:23:55 AM

Keep in mind they ship from China.

They ship from China directly to their customers or they ship it to themselves and then ship it again to their customers?
It makes a big difference in terms of customs clearance and paying VAT, import duty and other fees.
1248  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: CoinTerra announces its first ASIC - Hash-Rate greater than 500 GH/s on: August 20, 2013, 10:21:59 AM
I am not saying you should buy this or it is a good deal.  For the record you probably shouldn't and I don't think this is a good deal.

Regardless it doesn't make your projection of difficulty breaking 700 million in January and 1.1 trillion by the end of 2014 any less dubious.  At some point growth will move from exponential to linear (i.e. + x GH/s per month ).

1.1 trillion  Shocked
I assume you are using the long scale?

Fact remains, KnCminer did not published the dimensions of the box of fans. Perhaps your visual deficiency did not allowed you to perceive this?

Box dimensions are on their website.

Are you aware that this is a forum and I was replying to a post in this forum? Did I miss some page where perhaps KnCminer user post the dimensions of the case?

By the way, glad to see you agree that is a box of fans.

However, even if I use the information in their website, I still do not have what really matters.

500 x 400 x 200 means anything to you when the advertisement says "Modular Design allowing for expansion at a later date"?

What are the external dimensions?

What are the internal dimensions?

What are the modules dimensions?

What metric they are using?

The missing "mm" after three digits tells very much how much they are interested to sell a box of fans.

 Roll Eyes

You ask here = you get no answers
I call them on the phone = I get answers

To me you are just a guy, who has no interest in purchasing a miner from KNC, so you can post all you want Smiley
If you are serious about it, you will find your answers, just don't expect other people to help you, as in this game everyone is on their own Wink

Time to market is the most critical thing for us. We have a small window of opportunity here with a lot of competition coming out after us with products they claim are better than ours. (well after all they wouldn’t be very good competition if they claimed it would be worse.)

You do not have a finished product. What you have is just a metal case and some fans. That means, a box of fans. Your lack of communication about your product is so blatant, that you did not even provided the dimensions of your box of fans to prove that will indeed fit in a rack.

Epic fail.

Why is your ignore so yellow?

Oh wait that's because no one likes you now go away Smiley

I think we should not ignore the retarded children, but try to make them feel special and important Wink
1253  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: August 19, 2013, 06:10:05 PM
You are a pedantic bunch. I changed the post to say fans. My question about whether modifying the miner invalidates the guarantee still stands to be answered.

Does this really need to be asked? Just stop.
Yes it does.

If the heatsink on a hosted miner fails, I guess knc will replace it.

If the heatsink on a miner owned by a guy in the US fails, does he replace it himself and invalidate his guarantee? Which means if the miner entirely stops working 2 days later, he has a piece of garbage on his hands.

So that guy might also like to know how long it takes to be repaired if he has to send it back to Sweden, how long that round trip might take, so he can maintain his guarantee intact.

How is that not a very valid question for many customers?

You sound like a person who have no clue how a heatsink works.
Please explain how a heatsink fails exactly and what would be the consequences according to you.
1254  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: August 19, 2013, 05:53:54 PM

Sam, can you also clarify two other points?

1. Cyper said he rang you today with regards components (heatsinks etc) used in the miner and you said he could swop them out for any other parts he wished to use. Surely this invalidates your guarantee? If it doesn't, please clarify. Are there any situations where it wouldn't? It leaves people who are not hosted by knc at a bit of a disadvantage.

I have never said that. Go check my post again.
Don't put words in my mouth please, instead try to learn how to read and remember simple bits of information.

This is the reason I don't share information that I am given when I call KNC - people like to twist it around and "A lie told often enough becomes the truth"
1255  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: August 19, 2013, 01:25:58 PM
Just got off the phone with Sam - it is a pleasure to talk to him and gives answers to all questions, so if you have any questions I suggest you call him Smiley

I asked him if you could install a water cooling kit and he said that these ASIC chips are bigger in size, thus the market solutions, which are for CPU cooling would probably not work.
Which made me wonder how they've used the Arctic A30 cooler, when it is for CPU die sizes too.
But he said there is absolutely no problem to change the fans if you want less noise or higher performance.

Also I wasn't sure how noisy the miners are, thinking they will produce more noise, compared to a GPU miner, but I was totally wrong - he said it would be much quieter and it makes sense as GPU fans are much smaller and spin much faster (4000rpms for example) So the bigger the fan the quieter it is Smiley

I dug this ghetto train for a few months but jumped ship this week..   the site is more desolate than Detroit
The pool's site looks and works just like it always did.

Exactly. That is the reason they jump ship Wink

But probably it has a fee on foreign transactions  Roll Eyes
1258  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: August 16, 2013, 11:12:18 PM
£120 (Good quality PSU for example Corsair HX850)

That won't be enough. For Jupiter you would need to have at least HX1050 PSU (or better) to be on the safe side. ($240, £155)

Also, you forgot import taxes. Wink At least for Norway, that's 25% of the unit cost. Don't know about Sweden->UK

Everyone please ignore this post. If you were to buy a HX1050 for a 1000W Jupiter, you would essentially be running at near 95% load.

That's why I said "at least" on the off-chance that Jupiter would draw around 800W instead of the pessimistic estimate of 1000W. Cyper's 850W was way off.

Agree with Bitcoinorama that we should wait for the final specs.

HX850 I linked has a headroom of more than 1000W. It is one of the best PSU on the market.
I used one for 4 months with a GPU miner consisting of 4x 5870 overclocked at 960Mhz Core.
Obviously I'm not recommending it for a 1000W miner, but if it's less I will consider it Smiley
1259  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: August 16, 2013, 10:53:04 PM
Its called basic math. Have you ever brought a PSU? Read the manual, there are some charts and figures explaining load limits, noise and operating efficiency. Even running a platinum PSU at around 95% - 100% produces about 3% variance.

I would suggest you wait for official and final information on the Jupiter consumptions and then you can make such statements Wink
So far we know it will consume less than 1000W Wink

OK, maybe you should apply that to your original HX1050 post. And also:

The final specifications for this device are being ironed out now but we can confirm the following.
400GH/s per device.
28nm Standard ASIC
Maximum 1000w
Shipment begins in September

Yeah, good choice: HX1050 on a unit with a maximum 1000w.

Allow me to bring a piece of information that you have apparently missed Smiley

Power usage details

We have previously specified the power consumption of the Jupiter device at a 1000 watts. We have now received indication from our chip manufacturer that this may be lower.
This is where we need to refer you to our statement of under promise and over deliver.
So until you hear from us again on this, we would like to reaffirm that Jupiter will be less than 1000 watts and Saturn less than 500 watts.
