261  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: New S9 won't power back on. Really dead panel or board already? or cold temp? on: April 12, 2018, 03:32:33 PM
S9s will start under 45f every time.

I am betting you are using the APW3 Bitmain power supply. When it is too cold it will not turn on, you will see the fan spinning but there will be no 12v output.

Ive turned s9s on that were as cold as 20f with no issues, there is no protection circuitry in them for such a thing.
262  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Building mining farm in Canada. on: April 11, 2018, 09:45:09 PM
The location can currently handle about 200 kWh
It can be increased further but we saw no need for it with the original project.

If you ever have plans to expand beyond that I would be very interested. You are only a few hours away from me but unfortunately right now im sitting on 250kw worth of miners that need a home so it wouldn't work out unless you expand.

I have also helped with the design/build/layout of multiple datacenters and have managed a total of 5 crypto based datacenters if you ever need consulting.
263  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: DragonMint 16TH/S halongmining.com on: April 11, 2018, 09:35:27 PM
I just cant seem to wrap my head around why people care what the default pool settings are? Who is buying these and not immediately changing it?

Oh wait...its a Dragonmint so it only works with those 2 anyway. Makes the defaults seem that much more trivial. Its not like you have much of a choice where to point these things.
264  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Wake up people and dont buy asics on: April 11, 2018, 04:09:19 PM
Bitmain is not just selling the asic miners for the non asic resistant coins they are also mining at the same time the non asic resistant coin with the hardware much more stronger then what they are selling at the market, these way they profit from the coin twice by mining it and by selling hardware to people who want to buy it. By doing so they can manipulate the prices of the coin itself by adding their super powerfoul hardware to mine coin whenever there is a price jump of the coin and they can manipulate the prices of their hardware , they will keep the stronger hardware to themselfs and they will release weaker hardware to masses, and that way they will always be able to release new stronger asics for the specified coin and making the older asics ussles, and people will have to buy the new stronger asic miners or fall behind. These all cant be done with gpu-s mining. In gpu mining new more powerfoul hardware is coming slowly and they cant replace your weaker gpu that easily. That is if gpu-s ever become profiteable again.

Yet another person talking out their ass about Bitmain when they have no proof of anything. Bitmain makes BILLIONS selling hardware, developing some secret custom hardware just to mine some shitty altcoins is so beyong a waste of time for them I cant believe you would even mention it.
265  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: To all you AMD mining rig owners..I solute you! on: April 11, 2018, 04:07:52 PM
The problem is because of those piece of crap Vega cards. They dont play well with anything else and they mine everything but XMR like shit. You should sell those as quick as possible and buy some better cards.
266  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: DragonMint 16TH/S halongmining.com on: April 11, 2018, 03:25:56 PM
So it seems the efficiency is just barely on par with Bitmains 2 year old s9 tech. After all that bragging about it being the most efficient miner in the world, Halong is looking even more silly now.
267  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Where to rent my miner on: April 10, 2018, 05:43:00 PM
This is the wrong section to ask about GPU related stuff, try below in the altcoin section.

Also, you will need to work with crypto and turn it into fiat yourself. You can rent your rig to nicehash or miningrigrentals but they will still pay out in crypto.
268  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Bulk S7s for sale - over 1000 available on: April 10, 2018, 05:17:08 PM
Bump for great justice!
269  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Monero Fork in one day.. hash rate drop predictions ? on: April 10, 2018, 04:01:39 PM
Its amazing how little people understand the mining game.

Comparing daily profits between ETH and XMR is 100% meaningless unless you are converting your mining rewards on the fly.

If you are converting your mining profits on the fly you are an idiot. You dont make your money at the time you mine the coin, you make it when you sell it after the price has gone up.

It sounds like most of you should sell off your rigs before you cost yourselves any more profit.
270  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: RIP on: April 10, 2018, 03:43:18 PM
You know...sometimes they just catch fire. It was a well known problem on 54 chip s7s.
271  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Cooling problems. Please Help. on: April 10, 2018, 03:24:23 PM
I have 4 inch flex tube coming off of each miner that connects to a 4 inch Wye. All 7 eyes are connected to each other in a row and attach to a 6 inch exhaust tube that is insulated flex tube going out of the building.

SO SEVEN 4" tubes all being pushed through a single 6" opening? The problem should be obvious, you dont have nearly enough flow to remove the heat. You are creating backpressure and the miners cannot exhaust properly, hence the miners overheating.
272  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: I want remove a s-9 heat sink on: April 10, 2018, 03:21:31 PM
Heat the heatsink with a heat gun, and use some kind of foreceps to grab and roll the heatsink off of the chip with a slight rocking motion. Always make sure to take the smaller bottom heatsink off first.

Then you can use a razor to scrape the epoxy off.

^^^Thats how I was taught by Bitmain at one of their training sessions.
273  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What algorithm is Bitmain secretly mining right now? on: April 09, 2018, 05:26:23 PM
Bitmain is the terrorist organisation of the crypto world. They steal from the community by seizing our right to buy a miner. Every cent you spend on Bitmain products will come back to us as more corruption, insider trading (coinbase bcash trading), brand theft attempts (like bcash & monero classic) and centralization.

Stop funding crypto terrorism. Say no to Shitmain.

Calling bitmain a terrorist organization demeans anyone who has ever been the victim of real terrorism. You should be ashamed of yourself.

You even lump in the coinbase controversy and try to blame bitmain for it? This has to be the dumbest shit I have read on this site in a long time, and that is impressive because there are a lot of uneducated people spouting random conspiracy theories every day around here.

NEWS FLASH - BITMAIN IS A HARDWARE COMPANY THAT CONTINUES TO MAKE HARDWARE.

Of course they are making ASICs whenever they can, that is their business model.

Of course they mine on them before releasing them to the public. Whenever you create a new product you need to test it. You test a miner by MINING WITH IT.

ASICs are a natural progression of this space. This is not new, nor is it a surprise.

You butthurt people and your victim mentality try to blame bitmain for everything under the sun. Everyone thinks crypto is supposed to be a get rich quick scheme because of last years unsustainable rise. Now that the market has corrected everyone is looking for someone to blame rather than own up to their own ignorance when it comes to the economics of this space.

274  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Websites/online profitibility calculators for gpu mining on: April 09, 2018, 05:11:41 PM
So how would you determine what the best coin to mine is? (Not saying your wrong I'm just trying to understand what method you would use).

You do your research on a variety of coins and pick one to mine that you think has a bright future. If you are using profit calculators to chase minute by minute profits you will end up losing out badly in the long run.

Chasing profitability day to day like that is how you determine if someone is experienced/educated in this space. People that chase daily profits just have no clue about how to do this long term.
275  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain Announces the Antminer R4 and APW5 Power Supply, Designed for Silence on: April 09, 2018, 04:31:07 PM
The R4 was a failed experiment and further proves there is not a strong enough market for home miners to keep them in production.

To make a decent profit in the space now you need to run more miners than a normal home electrical system is setup to handle. The only reason to run an R4 is so you can pat yourself on the back and brag to your friends you mine bitcoin.

I mean an r4 makes like what $50 a month at residential power prices?
276  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: about bitman x3 / E3 on: April 09, 2018, 04:27:19 PM
ASICs do not cause centralization in todays market. As a matter of fact, the bitmain ETH machines price point and performance mean that more regular people can get into mining without having to build a $3000 GPU rig with a 2 year payback period.
277  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: $1,200 of Import Fees? on: April 09, 2018, 04:18:46 PM
Got a link to their new schedule?
Considering miners are hard-core computing devices and the only 'microprocessor' in vape pens is for monitoring the Li battery in them, how in Gods's name does CBP think they are related?

Thats what we have been fighting with for the last 2 weeks since they dropped the bomb on us. There is no logic to what they are claiming the reclassification is and we cannot get anyone to give us a true solid answer on it. Ill update as I find more information out.
278  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: $1,200 of Import Fees? on: April 09, 2018, 03:26:16 PM
US Customs has decided to reclassify bitcoin hardware. They recently sent me a six figure retroactive bill saying the good had been mis-classified under the old Automated Data Processing number.

I wouldnt be surprised if you are just being hit with the new duty schedule. They actually told us the new classification is similar to what vaping products are classified as, its pretty ridiculous.

279  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Why PDUs Don't Always Make sense on: April 06, 2018, 10:55:07 PM
I built my entire datacenter off of secondary market PDUs because its just not feasable at their MSRP.

I use 3 phase power so my setup will be different from single phase as far as breakers and layout is concerned.
280  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Alternative PSU for Antminer L3+ ? on: April 06, 2018, 10:19:19 PM
received my L3+ today, checked the Antminer PSU Power Supply and noticed some white "leaked" texture at the back. can someone tell me if this is normal?

Pic related:
https://imgur.com/a/LK857

That is 100% normal. It protects the components from each other and various shocks like dropping the PSU. Its a good thing. If you need more clarification just google "white goop in PSU" You will find thousands of people asking the same question.
