You might try reading the stickies first. they would tell you this is the bitcoin section of the forum and that altcoin questions will not be answered. Please post in the proper section.

Error code 4 means that your board is dead. There is not much you can do about it.

Overclocking bitmain gear is a TERRIBLE idea

i know bitcoin is asic or whatever but i know theres some newer altcoins that are on the same like algorithum or whatever bitcoin was. IS there anyone good currencies yall would recommend 4 mining with a used one of these from a couple years ago. Or should i just sell it?
The efficiency is just not there. Sell it.

You dont need static insulation for handling the external case. If you are opening it up and working on the hashboards themselves it is a good idea.
|
|
|
This would most likely be a loose heatsink somewhere that hasnt shorted out yet. I would pull the hash board out and inspect it for problems.

Ive been to bitmains hardware testing facility and watched them test miners. It is not a full on datacenter, and they do not run them very long. Also, at the end of the s7 production run they did advertise the last few batches as being used and they were offered at a discount because of this.

never never never never never buy a psu from bitmain unless you live in china.
This is so the right answer. the bitmain psus are TERRIBLE. I am talking 35% or more failure rate on large rollouts from brand new fresh out of the box APW3s

No, there never is. If you do all the basic troubleshooting and cant get it back you are basically out of luck.

Your prices are ridiculous. You say you are trying to sell in China yet you are posting on an english forum and denominating price in USD. You seem confused.
Also, you are posting in the bitcoin section of said english forum. I doubt you will sell anything here.

this is a bitcoin section, try asking in alt coin section next time.
Also, raw share numbers are meaningless, you are worrying about nothing.

Sorry it doesnt work like that or everyone on this site would just be hosting hundreds of vps and mining like crazy. You have to spend money and buy hardware to make money.
|
|
|
Step 1: do your own research

sometimes the questions on this site make my brain hurt

Yea its called nicehash. They have been fleecing money out of lazy people that dont want to take 10 minutes to learn something new for quite a while.
There is nothing complicated about command line mining and if you cant handle it you should go find some colored blocks to play with instead.

Easiest diagnostics to do on the S7s is to play follow the clock. You'll need a scope for that and it's an art rather than a science - sometimes, trouble later on down the chain will disrupt the startup of the first chip, so nothing is seen consistently anywhere.
The chips are laid out in banks of three and there are two heartbeat signals one going beginning to end, the other end to beginning. Its actually pretty easy to chase down the problem with a decent multimeter and some patience. You can home in on the bank of chips that is having the problem and then do some resistance and other tests to further pinpoint the issue. The s9 is VERY similar in its layout and troubleshooting can be done in much the same way using the diagnostic points that are located all over the board. Just be VERY careful not to short a test point to a heatsink or you can kill the whole board rather easily.

Linux is just way more stable. Ive had miner executable uptimes of 60-70 days. Thats not system uptime, thats literally how long EWBF ran uninterrupted. In my experience, ive managed about 300 windows rigs and we had to constantly reboot like 20-30 a day no matter what we do to them.

They are just hot cards.
My r9 280x likes to run at 86c with 100% fan in a cool environment.
All of my 390x cards like to be over 80c as well.
|
|
|
The TDP on that card is 94c. The reality is you can run it at 75c forever with no problems. Just set the fan to auto and set a thermal limit.

The only problem I see with your setup is the operating system
