281  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] LIBRA - Simple Global Currency - Reinvent Money - By Facebook on: July 14, 2019, 11:36:42 PM
With enough money backing the project it has a high chance to succeed. Even though there are recent talk from the highest level in the USA against crypto, the forces behind Libra are strong. There are some big names backing it. From page 4 of the whitepaper the founding members are listed as:

Payments: Mastercard, PayPal, PayU (Naspers’ fintech arm), Stripe, Visa
Technology and marketplaces: Booking Holdings, eBay, Facebook/Calibra, Farfetch, Lyft, Mercado Pago, Spotify AB, Uber Technologies, Inc.
Telecommunications: Iliad, Vodafone Group, Blockchain: Anchorage, Bison Trails, Coinbase, Inc., Xapo Holdings Limited
Venture Capital: Andreessen Horowitz, Breakthrough Initiatives, Ribbit Capital, Thrive Capital, Union Square Ventures
Nonprofit and multilateral organizations, and academic institutions: Creative Destruction Lab, Kiva, Mercy Corps, Women’s World Banking
282  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][INCNT] Incent Loyalty | Waves Token | Traded on Bittrex on: May 13, 2018, 07:05:13 AM
The Incent marketplace is a nice touch. Few tokens have real demand drivers. Can you confirm the number of merchants signed up already where Incent can be earned?
283  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: WAVES - Complete Blockchain ecosystem for a token economy on: May 07, 2018, 07:06:06 PM
here are only a few projects that I would bet on for 2018.
By this I mean hold a large position in due to investment.

Of course any project that you help create, through actively being a participant in its development and marketing can be very lucrative, but I'm talking about actually undervalued projects that have released enough to be competitors in the top 10 best blockchains while still being under 1 billion in marketcap.

In truth there is only one. Waves!!!
It has the fastest on chain tx
It has secure smart contracts
It has a decentralized exchange built into the client that trades at blazing speeds
It has a blockchain creation tool that instantly allows you to create a token for under 10 dollars which can be traded against eth bitcoin and a myriad of other tokens without a verification process
It has fiat on and offramp  for 50% of the planet,
And so much more..

Best of all it has these things now!!!
With a marketcap of approx 40th place on cmc.

I fully agree with you. All valid points that you list. There is no hype to drive the prices up. Price increase will be gradual over time as more organizations adopt the platform and roll out tokens. It is a longer term project in my view. What would be great though to add to the list are Ledger Nano S support and integration with a Bitcoin ATM.

Yes, just add on your list that Waves has an actual working platform, which most of the top cmc cyptos don't have yet. Most of these are still on testnet, or have a very limited usable platform. Also, based on dev updates on github in past 12 months, Waves is on 8th place of all cryptos.

https://www.cryptomiso.com/

This means that dev team is very active

I also saw today that Waves is going to provide a compliant solution for security tokens issuing and trading. I think this will be great because with the SEC focus on securities a lot of coins/tokens will be classified as securities. The platform will become an option to do those type of things in a compliant manner.

286  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: | STRATIS | The first blockchain developed for businesses |Full POS on: May 07, 2018, 02:25:51 AM
can I buy stratis on bittrex exchange? I have all my btc there! Is it safe to withdraw?
Sure you can. Yes it's safer to keep STRAT in your wallet, preferably ledger nano S, than leaving them on any exchange.
Yeah, if you have any significant amount of STRAT, please don't leave that on exchanges. Transfer to your personal wallets. Also, if you have a bunch, you can get PoS rewards which exchanges don't give you.

If you have 25k-30k stratis you can earn about 1 sratis per day if you stake the coins. If you have less than that lets say <10k then just park them in an offline wallet. The best is Ledger Nano S but there are a few other wallets allready available to you eg. tradtitional qt wallet (c++), new full node wallet (c#), Breeze wallet. All of them will be better than an exchange wallet as you own the private key. Just remember to make a backup of your wallet file.

Stratis Favorite sidechained  Bitz being delisted from Bittrex. Looks like this sleeping dragon will never wake up)

blitz

yeah not looking too good for them now, i think something strange went on with that project anyway.... blitz senior members voted not to have a percentage of stratis for free apparently........ sounds legit

The blitz stratis connection has been well documented and never refuted. The delisting from bittrex is a setback for blitz, but unless Chris is prepared to abandon blitz all together I think the current price drop is a big buy signal, blitz will still continue as the first sidechain of stratis regardless of bittrex listing. If I had access to my bittrex account I would be buying blitz by the handful.

I agree with you, at 90%. The team don't sold any coins, the richlist is still the same and it seems that the 400k BLITZ on the market (dumped by bots and people) already were on bittrex.

But there is still dome doubt remaining, the 10% left: why the sites are also down ?

BLITZ is down to 1.4M market cap, which is +/- == zero in 2018. High risks, high rewards no ? It can be smart to buy some, when there's blood in the street. And, ATM, there's a TON blood in BLITZ's street Tongue
Personally i sold some STRAT to buy more BLITZ.

Traders with no interest in the project itself have to sell, or become a true believer in blitz and hodl. What we're seeing is bittrex day traders acting rationally, and a mega overshoot on the downside price. Just wish I could buy some, my bittrex account has been frozen for months.

How can Blitz be a sidechain of Stratis if Stratis sidechains functionality will only land later in the year? If it was some early experiment with sidechains then it was premature and there shouldnt be too much read into it if Blitz fails. In future there will be many many sidechains on Stratis when the functionality lands and many of them will fail because of various reasons eg. some internal issue with the company that created the sidechain on the Stratis platform. Those failures have no bearing on Stratis and does not take away any of the foundational capabilities and value Stratis provides.

We all need to wait for Chris to update the community on Blitz, afaik it was he who announced Blitz would be a stratis sidechain a year ago.

Ok but that was premature then. Unless of course Blitz gets converted to a proper sidechain later in the year and that re-ignites interest in Blitz because of it being a sidechain. Maybe at the time of that announcement the plan was to have sidechains out by now. Maybe it was the delays with landing sidechains that didnt work in Blitz' favor?

Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere. I notice many similarities with a normal bank. if you take deposits and loan out against the deposits should you not then have a banking license for that? Or do you foresee that countries where you operate that the regulation would require you to get a banking license?
290  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: WAVES - Complete Blockchain ecosystem for a token economy on: May 06, 2018, 05:39:42 PM
I have noticed one thing that waves ICO will fail, I have had few bounties 6 months ago, but not even one single coin had in the exchange. So not sure how many successful coins there under wave platform.

People that complain about Waves tokens and losing money on exchanges forget a very important thing about Waves. In my view the value of Waves is not the trade or sell on exchanges, but the utility of the tokens in a business. If it was up to me I would add an option to a token creator to disable all trading in the token. This way tokens can be used for what they were meant for and not form the topic of pnd or other whining about exchange prices.

The other big value of Waves is the easy of token creation, speed of confirmation and that a token creator does not have to worry about mining.
291  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Is the explosion of the crypto bubble coming soon? on: May 06, 2018, 11:32:10 AM
Many economists and members of the crypto community believe the crypto bubble will burst soon. What do you think?

I dont think this is the correct section for this question.

As long as the cryptosystem remains secure and intact ie. there is no special type of processing that can quickly determine the private key from a public key or easily perform a 51% attack, then things should be fine. Prices will go up and correct downwards all the time. Even if there is a massive downwards correction it will go up again. We are in the transition of paper money and coins to virtual currency and it is here to stay. Once there is enough distribution and regulation, there will be more stability and wider adoption. Before then there will be dumps, bursts, massive rises etc. all the time.

0.001 WAVES tx fees will be better than bitcoin even when WAVES = $100

At this point Waves transactions are very cheap. 1 Wave can be the fuel for 1000 transactions. It will get more expensive as Waves price goes up. I wonder if tx fees will go under 0.001 if Waves price would have a substantial increase.

Waves Platform is intended for assets/tokens mainly. And the whole Waves ecosystem is build up around them: matcher, fast transactions, gateways, multi-cryptocurrency wallet, (smart contracts, atomic swap are coming soon). The Waves blockchain is faster than Etherium, it is easier in use, and makes all the actions with tokens more comfortable. As for smart contracts, 90% of Dapps on Etherium are tokens. We also have tokens that are native, simple and built into the platform. What is more tokens will also become smart when Smart accounts and Smart Assets are issued on Waves blockchain, that will allow users work with predictable price of assets, do quickly and safely basic tests as well.

I am much interested in the smart contracts component. Can you clarify on the highlighted part what is the impact to existing tokens. Will existing tokens become smart automatically or will only new tokens created after smart contracts be smart?

As i understand gradually all existing tokens become smart automatically. Turing-complete smart contracts will be launched only after full-fledged testing and the subsequent release of Turing-incomplete smart contracts in the core network. As said developers that the new functionality will be available to all users in the Waves client. To use it you don't need special knowledge or experience.

Thanks. It is very much possible that the contract lawyers of the future will be crypto-coders. Or at least that there will be a branch in law for smart contracts.

Buying WAVES before smart contracts were launched could be the best decision you ever make

Yeap looks like a good strategy : waves -10%

Kaboom, to the cave

Remember that Waves is the fuel of the platform. The more services come online that uses the fuel, the higher the actual demand will get. It is not to say that launching smart contracts will immediately general a big price jump.

I did my first proof of concept on the Waves platform. I am of the opinion that Waves is fast enough for retail type applications where fast transactions is required. Next I am going to look int the smart contracts. I am very impressed with the physical performance of the platform.

296  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: | STRATIS | The first blockchain developed for businesses |Full POS on: May 05, 2018, 07:35:53 PM
What is exactly going on behind stratis platform? Are the team members facing any kind of problems? Weft are they launching ICO platform instead of a blockchain based Dapps platform using c#?
Does anybody have any info here? Or am I wrong?

It will all come in due time. One thing at a time and if it is ICO platform now that is fine. The others will follow including sidechains. I also read something about cold staking and if that happens it will be a great achievement.

I love all the latest announcements. Announcements seem to become more regular and the team has really stepped up. Looking forward to the imminent release of the ICO platform.
298  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ICO]SURETY.AI : Smart Micro-Insurance for the Unbanked on Blockchain on: May 05, 2018, 06:53:42 PM
It is true that the insurance industry is a big industry with lots of potential. It would make sens to use some form of making the workflow easier but I do not necessarily agree with tokens becoming tender to use to buy things with. There are too much volatility going on in crypto for stable retail type payments apart from maybe a handful of coins out there.

Then also why do you want to burn tokens for PCT? Isnt that becoming a bit complex especially if you are targeting unbanked? Unbanked might not be crypto savvy.

Fantasy sports is very popular. If you can get it right to enable a more satisfying experience for players and reduce admin, your project could be successful.
300  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] UBIC:The cryptocurrency providing UBI for the masses using the E-Passport on: April 29, 2018, 11:03:19 PM
The use of NFC enabled chip passport of awesome ideas, yet it might also be a big no no, since details and information or identity of an investor might be at risk if the system gets compromise. what are your plans about this matter?

There are no personal information published on the blockchain, in the current and future core implementation no personal information are extracted from the passport. Only the digital signature, the signed hash as well as the Document signing certificate are recovered.
What will be published on the Blockchain is:
 - The hash (checksum) of the chip content (name, lastname, passport number, jpeg picture of your face...)
 - The hash of the document signing certificate
 - A non-transferable proof of signature knowledge, not the signature itself

As a consequence only a government can know what UBI address belongs to who.
Non-UBI receiving remain completely anonymous.

How will people know that more information is not read off the chip than what is necessary? Do people have a guarantee that you will not ready any PI data? With GDPR imminent this becomes a very important discussion.
