281  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: GLBSE features release schedule on: August 23, 2012, 01:52:19 PM
Below is a list of major features and their ETA

New charts and API server(will be open source) - 1 week to live launch
Options on all GLBSE assets and an options market - 2 weeks to live launch
Lending assets (including BTC) with interest - 3 weeks to live launch
Margin and shorting - 4 weeks to live launch
Private markets for private stock - 3 weeks to live launch
Scheduling dividend payments and buybacks - 1 week to live launch

All very interesting.

Regarding: Margin and shorting - 4 weeks to live launch

How will this work, exactly? Will GLBSE be purchasing stocks in companies? Or is this a bucket shop thing? Or not related to stocks, just BTC?

Good question.

We will allow users to lend their BTC and assets to other users for the sole purpose of trading on margin and shorting. This will mean that they (the borrowers) will not be able to withdraw any of those related funds until the they have paid back what they have borrowed.

The lenders will be able to set the interest rate that they charge for lending out, with the understanding that if the market becomes illiquid, they may lose their funds. They will also be able to specify what assets they are willing to allow their lent funds to purchase.

It will be available for all assets on GLBSE.

piotr_n  - It should be noted that the timestamps I provided on those posts are set to my local zone.
Nefario may have a different stamp, Is this something Nefario took into consideration?
Not sure if that would close the gap or not, just something that popped into my mind.
Wherever the reason is, until he gives me a reasonable explanation for what I have seen, I don't trust him anymore.
If he wants his reputation to go down to zero, to the point where Goat's reputation is already - I respect his choice. Smiley

Don't start dragging me into your conspiracy theories.

You contacted me asking for details, pointing to the thread where goat says OK.

I provided details and not only are you still not happy, you're trying to insinuate that I'm wrapped up in some scam involving Goat.

I don't know if you've ever heard of Google but you can search nefario and goat and you will find that we're not exactly on the most pleasant of terms.

I'm not terribly interested in what you remember a particular number on a particular date, frankly if it was so important why didn't you write it down, that number by the way comes from the API thats not published.

The fact is, Goat hasn't sold or transferred out any of this asset since Pirate made his announcement(as stated before he's been buying them). Trying to poke holes in this, with numbers that "you remember" and have "changed" over the last few weeks means nothing.

I'm done with this thread.
283  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: GLBSE features release schedule on: August 23, 2012, 12:08:55 PM
Those are great features! Thanks for creating and enhancing GLBSE.

Ideally I'd like to see the following feature added to the list:

"Globally-distributed bulletproof backups, so that the data and software can be recovered in the event of the operator's disappearance or demise, or seizure of the GLBSE data."

We already have this, although it's not distributed to everyone it has been given to several people.

This is all in another GLBSE related thread. If I die GLBSE will continue onwards, at the very least to ensure that all accounts have been settled, but most likely with someone else to take over.

The post that started it all happened then, but it took a bit for pirate to officially quit,

I still don't see this as a big issue, Goat could have sold an absolute ton of shares at that time.

When did pirate announce he was ending BS&T?

The Goat has done nothing wrong, his transfer was in the 16th.

Since that time, as he has said he has been buying up TYGRR.BOND-P.

How could you dont know?

Because I'm busy running a business, not following what everyone else is doing. I'm only posting on this thread in answer to a request to do so.

James,

I've seen a thread about someone asking the legality of the GLBSE and myself, I'm just getting into stocks, IPOs and such so I'm not 100% sure yet, but is there any reason to believe that putting up an IPO on the GLBSE would be illegal? And even if not for every country, how about for the USA? Would you be held responsible legally if an IPO there like Pirate ran out with everyone's money? Don't need a legal letter or anything, just asking your opinion.

Cheers

This is out of topic, and should either be in a PM or in the other GLBSE threads (of which there are several) on this topic.

Read GLBSE's TOS.

Also hard to believe you're just getting into stocks etc with your involvement with Hermes and Kronos, you seem to be playing stupid.
288  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: GLBSE is upgrading their Bitcoin client on: August 23, 2012, 11:07:05 AM
Why is it taking so long? I'm getting this message for about 9 hours now! On my machine the blockchain is downloaded within 3 hours or less and it's NOT a server in a datacenter.

Do you have fiber connections....to everyone else running bitcoind?

Anyway finished now and deposits/withdrawals are going through as normal.
289  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: GLBSE features release schedule on: August 23, 2012, 10:54:25 AM
Nice.

What will be Open Source exactly? Looking forward to take a look.

charts and the public API.
290  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: GLBSE features release schedule on: August 23, 2012, 09:23:08 AM
So will the site be faster soon?

If so, bonus!

Yes, combined with the moving of our database to a dedicated DB server it will be a significant improvement.
291  Economy / Securities / Re: (GLBSE) TYGRR.BOND-P 4.85% weekly uninsured pass though bond to BTCST on: August 23, 2012, 09:15:36 AM
Second that troll is a troll. He is on my ignore list... I have been buying these bonds at a good discount. I currently have bids in. This guy is just a troll with FUD.
You have no honor whatsoever, you fucking liar.

GLBSE API don't lie.
But if it is not enough for you, we can always ask Nefario to check if you have sold any TYGRR.BOND-P since Pirate announced the close down.
Because if you haven't - it means GLBSE's API is broken...
So, should I file the bug report? Smiley

Yeah, Ask Nefario. I did not sell any P bonds, however I did buy...

Once you ask I expect an apology...

In answer to this, Goat hasn't sold any of the P bonds since last month, and even then the numbers were tiny.

edit.

On further investigation, around 350 assets were transferred.

Great work Nefario.

Lending assets (including BTC) with interest - 3 weeks to live launch

This is going to  be great for shorting stocks  Smiley

This is the whole point, and it won't be shorting with "vitual" assets that don't exist as with most margin or shorting, it will be existing ones, and the lenders will be able to decide the rate in which they charge.

Wow, this all looks really great. As long as server performance can keep up, I'm excited!

A big part of the work has been going on the backend stuff, to enable GLBSE to be run on multiple machines, scale, and still be secure. That had to be done before we could progress with the OP's features.
295  Bitcoin / Project Development / GLBSE features release schedule on: August 23, 2012, 05:07:37 AM
In the next few hours we will be removing the requirement for BTC reserves.

This means that you can make as many buy orders as you like as long as you have enough BTC to cover your highest priced buy.

Once the order is fulfilled, your new balance is calculated, and your other buy orders for more than your new balance will be cancelled.

There is also a long list of smaller features and improvements that are going to be rolled into GLBSE over the next few weeks that aren't listed here.

I'll keep this thread updated as progress is made.

296  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [Full Disclosure] CVE-2012-2459 (block merkle calculation exploit) on: August 22, 2012, 01:13:02 PM
Does this mean that an attacker could trick a bitcoin client into thinking that two deposits of say 100BTC were made(thinking that 200BTc were deposited to an address), only to have one of them invalidated and removed some time later?
297  Economy / Securities / Re: S.DICE - Want a piece of SatoshiDICE? IPO this week before new site launch! on: August 22, 2012, 12:48:57 PM

The FAQ mentions about having to pay a 20 BTC amount to register your GPG key with them.

So does this mean that it would cost each person 20 BTC just to put in a bid for the shares?

I have less than 1 btc in my wallet. So I guess I will skip this IPO.

You can buy the pass through on GLBSE.
298  Economy / Securities / Re: S.DICE - Want a piece of SatoshiDICE? IPO this week before new site launch! on: August 21, 2012, 04:42:28 PM
You started using GPG in your porn?

"Oh yeah clearsign this...."

"No! your public key hasn't been signed"

Oh god I laughed so hard. Everybody lies, even in real life.

No they don't.

Just to qualify my previous post, I don't have anything "invested" with pirate40, I was just saying if you steal that kind of money, people tend to kill you.
300  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If Pirate Runs: The Danger of one entity with 500K BTC on: August 21, 2012, 04:08:25 PM
If he runs we're going to find out how quickly he can be found with a 500K BTC price tag on his head, and when he is, will he still have the head?
