Banned Copypaste: Cryptocurrencies are so called because the consensus-keeping process is ensured with strong cryptography. This, along with aforementioned factors, makes third parties and blind trust as a concept completely redundant.
There are several different types of cryptocurrency wallets that cater for different needs. If your priority is privacy, you might want to opt for a paper or a hardware wallet.
OriginalHow to store Unlike most traditional currencies, cryptocurrencies are digital, which entails a completely different approach, particularly when it comes to storing it. Technically, you don’t store your units of cryptocurrency; instead it’s the private key that you use to sign for transactions that need to be securely stored. There are several different types of cryptocurrency wallets that cater for different needs. If your priority is privacy, you might want to opt for a paper or a hardware wallet. Those are the most secure ways of storing your crypto funds. There are also ‘cold’ (offline) wallets that are stored on your hard drive and online wallets, which can either be affiliated with exchanges or with independent platforms. I need to know what is a blockchain? How to use it and what if it goes offline? What affects it will occur on bitcoin.
I have tried understanding it but it looks very complex There may be a simpler way to understand it guys
Thanks for the help

Just out of curiosity, and because I also tagged him: what's going to happen to hacked account pooya87 in this campaign? This is in the pipeline: This is a component of a comprehensive new set of recovery procedures which will be fully rolled out in the very near future (before the end of the year). This will allow recoveries to move forward at a reasonable pace again. As far as I remember well, pooya87 is on a 7 day cool down period after an email change (after the hack), so if the admins will help him to get his account back soon, and the next round will be a double (because DarkStar_ deserverd a great holiday), well in this case pooya87 will have the chance to just continue to post with his original account. I'm sure that as soon as the account will be taken back, all the DTs would remove the tag. Anyway, DarkStar_ will decide, he should be aware of the story by now.

Hopefully authority will take action against such kind of people who are using Merit unnecessarily.
Have you reported this to the police? No need. I am only concerning the authority who are able to take good decision through online. I just want to see the forum clean and good uses of Merit. Exactly the same way you're trying to convince us to give you merits in disguise of being helpful and being concerned with what you claim is merits being used for the wrong purpose
I am not searching for Merit. I am sharing my opinion just. But in reality, everyone wants benefits. You have posted these posts just one following the other, check the rules, you'd be better to try to combine your posts into one if you want to reply to more posts. There are specific topics for reporting merit abuse, you can check there maybe someone have already reported the strange things you are talking about, and if nobody has reported it, report it.
|
|
|
I would be against this and I doubt it's something theymos would do anyway. People who have negative feedback can still provide worthwhile content and also send appropriate merit. ...
That's true, but unfortunately this is true for the minority of the users... majority would abuse merit after red tagged (or was tagged because of the abuse...) So theoretically, this is fine and I have no problem with red tagged accounts sending merit, but practically most of them will end up banned sooner or later, because if someone is brave enough to abuse the merit system, he is brave enough to do some other shady things too, which is a good way toward the permaban...

To cut the long story short, if you have several posts that are not meaningful or are not adding much to the topic, you'll end up with several deleted posts. You should start to create meaningful posts and you won't face this again.

You have been permanently banned by a forum moderator, probably due to spam or plagiarism.
My guess is you plagiarized something, and I'm also fairly certain someone will show up with the evidence of that. Wait, what? Did the ban notice change or am I just imagining things? I don't think it used to say anything about plagiarism. ... Check here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5084100.msg48641294#msg48641294Something has happened, but I don't really want to try it out with my own account, if there's a new ban notice or not ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif)
|
|
|
In this case we should have a sticky for all the Ban appeal posts, or a sub-board, where people are only allowed to open a topic if they're banned and want to have information about the possible unban... It would make the Meta thread easier to read, because nowdays every second topic is a kind of 'unban me please I was hacked' topic...
|
|
|
This has been discussed before, but I don't remember the outcome now. I'd be happy to see if a banned user changes rank to 'Banned' or something similar. I remember now (hopefully well) that this was discussed in a topic about reporting, because this could really help those who report a lot to check if a post is worth to be read and check or not.
If I remember well, there was another suggestion too, that if a post has been already reported and still waiting for the judgement of mods, the 'Report to moderator' button should be hidden to prevent double work and let the reporters job more efficient.

|
|
It seems that the biggest question has been answered (again), so OP can lock the topic before it becomes a spamfest... or someone else, a mod or anyone

The chatbox would be just a sandbox for trolls, scam coin advertisers and similar ones. The normal users would not benefit from it, moderating a chatbox is much harder and requires much more resources to be effective. My opinion is that we can live without it...

I think it worths a try to check the Jr. members in the top 25 posters table, I'm curious what kind of content can they create with more than 1000 posts in a months time. Also, we could check the posts of those Jr.members who have received merit for a few of their posts in this time period, if those posts were merit worthy... Thanks for the information, it's really interesting

Thanks ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)
I've found this post in the plagiarism topic, it contains 58 connected accounts (or it's stated there). I've made an archive of it, just in case of need, becasue it was asked to be deleted because it's off topic there. Shall we have a look at them or this is something different?
Edit: I've just saw a new analysis about posts created in the last month. I've started to check the first few jr. member posters from the top 25, but most of them are bounty hunters with nearly or more than 1000 posts per month... This is the top 25 table: 4. ... Or, we should make different merit requirements for creating a topic in various threads, e.g. if you want to open a topic in the Beginners's section (or in the OFF topic), you don't have to have any merits, but if you want to open an [ANN] thread, you should have at least 5 merits etc.
More reason for genuine new users to go to other forums. what will stop the genuine devs from going to other forums to post their projects due to the stringent measures on bitcointalk? Am pretty certain that the altcoin section brings in almost half of the users in here, so imagine there are little or no more ANNS of projects in the Altcoin boards due to your strict rules but instead there are quite a number of them in other crypto forums... i guess you know what will happen next. You may not see it short term, but long term, it has an effect. This is true, I was aware of the possible effect. But ANNs are bringing most of the bounty hunters who just don't care about bitcoin, won't ever post in the bitcoin section, so from bitcoin point of view, it's not quality traffic. From the traffic point of view, I know that every user counts. (even bots, who are e.g. half of the traffic of the ANNs traffic I guess, but I don't have proof of course, it's just an educated guess ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) ) I'm also against of scaring off genuine devs but I have no idea how we can make a difference. I think that genuine devs are the ones who won't be able to get merits on the short run when they start their altcoin topic, because spammers scammers (who work together and sharing merit among themselves) seems more legit from the merit point of view than a genuine dev who has no connections with the forum to get merit quickly. I know that a genuine dev can also hire the bots to be able to stand out from the mass of shitcoins but that would cost heavy ETH for him and half of the bot farmers are also scammers, they won't just do anything but run away with the money... So if you have a look at the ANN threads, from the point of view of a newbie (who came here to make some money with joining the bounty campaigns), what is the chance that they can select a legit ANN topic with a genuine dev? Really low... Even what is the chance that they will ever found that legit ANN topic, when all the scammy ANNs are bumped all the time and legit ANNs won't have a chance to get to the first page? Users are used to select from the first page (like in a google search) so chances are really low for genuine devs to get noticed at all. So I think at the moment this is what scares off genuine devs, so if we make some restrictions, maybe (maybe) the legit ANNs would become more noticeable, so I'm not 100% sure that restrictions equals the loss of the quality traffic. But this is just my opinion, I'm happy to discuss, I hope somehow sometime we'll be able to work out a solution for the current situation, it's badly needed...

... I often see a lot of them especially in the Alts Section and Bitcoin Discussion, it's obvious that they are just posting for their bounties ![Roll Eyes](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/rolleyes.gif) . Some reply with the most common answer where everyone knows and it seems that they are just repeating it. Maybe it should be added as one of the things to report to the moderators (I think its from welsh thread) I'm just wondering... Is it possible to create a kind of rule of the thumb in reporting e.g. if someone creates a topic in Bitcoin Discussion when there's a really similar topic that has been opened (and discussed and had the proper answer) in a months time (or later on in a few months time) then the topic should be reported to be locked and OP has to be pointed to the old topic, to check it for the answer? (My favourite is: Bitcoin is better than gold/cash/etc... and similar ones...) I know that for the most of the people it's always easier to ask and not to search for something, but we should stop it somehow and let people start searching (on the site, or use google.)

Open the topic for the HW wallets in the Beginner section then, you'll educate the newcomers and also you'll advertise the HW wallets as a kind of really secure storage (I know that every storage can be only as secure as the owner makes it, this is why newbies need some advice how to deal with these kind of wallets and how not to fall for the ebay/etc. cheap and hacked offers). I saw some similar topics in the Bitcoin Discussion also, but this is a kind of topic that easily can become a spam megathread...

I understood. Then there is only one thing-to tighten the rules for obtaining the rank of Jr.Member to 10 merits. This will reduce spam, but will not solve the problem of one-day accounts for spam and fraud.
Or, we should make different merit requirements for creating a topic in various threads, e.g. if you want to open a topic in the Beginners's section (or in the OFF topic), you don't have to have any merits, but if you want to open an [ANN] thread, you should have at least 5 merits etc. I know that it will scare away geniue coin devs and those who want to advertise a really working new altcoin, but that's only 1 out of 1000 or even less... Also, because we're a bitcoin forum, let's make it easier to open a topic in the Bitcoin Discussion thread (less merit requirement and more merit to open in the alt section).

... This is the reason I'd love to see child boards of Meta for discussing merits and for ban appeals. ...
This is what I have also mentioned sometime somewhere (a few times or even more), but I have always had the answer that Meta is fine as it is. If we could have those two child boards in Meta (merit problems and account problems), the real Meta would have 3-4 new topics per day, or even less... I know that I can skip those topics in Meta now and I will still find the others, but it would be easier to find meaningful topics among others (were scammers are crying for their banned accounts and newbies are crying for merits in order to be able to wear signatures = earn money)...

... I don't want to move from the subject of the OP so you are welcome to the CLUB If you want to post your investigation. Thanks for the invitation, I'd like to join the club, but I can only dedicate a few hours, mainly on the weekends to nuke these spammers from the forum... hope this is not a problem. I'll copy here my reporter stats as a kind of application, so you can decide if you want to count me in your team or not (because my accuracy is not 100%): You have reported 725 posts with 99% accuracy (703 good, 10 bad, 12 unhandled). Do not worry about your accuracy too much; one accurate report is worth many inaccurate reports. I'll check back a bit later if I'm accepted.
