Huge wall buys on Vircurex and Btce even though this is clearly out there....

Actually no, I don't think this is clearly out there. There are thousands of people on BTC-E trading, but it's obvious there are not thousands of people on this thread because otherwise this thread would look like the troll box. People at BTC-E are just seeing the charts and thinking "oh it's getting really cheap!" they have no idea whats happening because they don't bother to research what they are even investing into. They just think they are getting a good deal when really they are getting screwed.

This is true. I don't know why I used to assume most people who invested in cryptos were smart or did their research.

Sunny the lead dev of PPCoin has confirmed it + there have been numerous things going wrong with TRC lately.

I guess we await an official public confirmation to seal it.
2823  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Arise, Chikun, Arise... (MtGox just verified LTC within 2 weeks - with pics). on: April 13, 2013, 01:12:29 AM
Should be good.

When shit got real yesterday I panicked and liquidated 20k LTC into USD. Facepalm  Huh Still got a ton of em though.

I may buy some extra also.

Turning USD to LTC is such a hassle. :sigh:

LTC has gone on a nice little run since this topic. Sitting at $2.4 right now  Smiley
2824  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Spam Terracoin? on: April 13, 2013, 01:10:47 AM

As ingenious and protective the PPC coin difficulty algo is, how about when 5,10,20 ASIC's fire up against it.

I would have thought, the more ASICs there are the better. I thought the whole problem was a single ASIC has the majority of the computational power. But if there 10 ASICs that wouldn't be the case. So ironically a mass of ASICs is a better situation than a solitary ASIC with a dominating computational stake. Is that right or wrong..?
2825  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Spam Terracoin? on: April 13, 2013, 12:22:10 AM
True or not, I'm out and not willing to lost any more penny in this crapcoin.

Put the money into PPCoin imo. Similarly priced but in a far superior position in terms of market capitalisation, smart development and original ideas.
2826  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Spam Terracoin? on: April 13, 2013, 12:15:38 AM
Someone should contact Vircurex about this.
2827  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Been living under a rock. What is Ripple? on: April 12, 2013, 11:30:24 PM
Something no-one understands except the creators lol.
2828  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [QIQ] PPCoin so circa 18M is all the PPC ?!! on: April 12, 2013, 09:43:12 PM

Anyway can you explain why 1 billion+ coins were chosen instead of 21 million (or 11 million as I suggest)?

Forget about the 2 billion figure, it's only used for consistency checking, has nothing to do with future money supply.

The coin cap is not pre-determined it depends on market interest in PPCoin. Higher market interest = less coins produced. Based on current market interest PPCoin looks likely to follow Litecoins supply growth I believe (Litecoin has 84 million coins as it's cap).

2830  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: MTGox to add LTC Support in 1-2 Weeks on: April 12, 2013, 02:31:55 PM
yes, we still don't know what other alt will be supported, but i think the choices are between

LTC <-> XRP -> will be one of this (or nmc?)

It would be a big surprise if XRP support was unveiled.

My money is on LTC.
2831  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Can someone clarify, was TRC 51% attacked? on: April 11, 2013, 09:43:31 PM
Was anything malicious actually occurring or was it an innocent ASIC miner causing the difficulty to screw up further?
2832  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [BTE] If we are going to make to the next retarget we must be zelots on: April 11, 2013, 09:30:23 PM
I heard PPCoin has a way to do proof-of-stake so it's possible to avoid this difficulty issues.

This is another reason why PPCoin is undervalued. 51% attacks can't be performed computationally. Even if someone has 95% of the hash power they couldn't mess up the PPCoin block chain.

And not only that PPCoin has a smart difficulty adjustment and retargeting which isn't resulting in the problems BTE and TRC experienced.
2833  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / If bitcoin crashes to $2 and litecoin remains around $1 or 50 cents... on: April 11, 2013, 07:19:12 PM
Could we see a massive reversal in fortune from btc to ltc? Especially if mtgox puts ltc on their website this month...
2834  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BTC-E hacked? on: April 11, 2013, 02:01:40 PM
Maybe some accounts got brute forced. It always was a weakness that you could see everyone's login names in the trollbox.
2835  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: proud of you, ntime 51% dude ? on: April 11, 2013, 01:49:41 PM
If it was 51%, we wouldn't see anything. It's more that he's just messing the diff up alot (I think). More likely he is *selling* those coins.

We would see something, in our debug logs... like I said BTC-e only react to forum threads, not to what is happening right now in the chain of the alt currencies. A guy who is 51%ing TRC can deposit TRC into BTC-e , trade it, withdraw BTC, 51% the chain and get his TRC back.

Are you suggesting we should make BTC-e.com aware of this thread? Does this have implications in terms of TRC being unsafe to trade on BTC-e.com or is it safe?
2836  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin time to shine, now that Bitcoin bottomed... on: April 10, 2013, 10:52:10 PM
Maybe I'm naive, but why is litecoin 'better'?

+ Fairer mining.
2837  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] TRC FORK TERRCOIN FORK on: April 10, 2013, 10:33:55 PM
Question I have is, if TRC uses this what makes it different from the more established coins BTC and LTC? Terracoin's difficulty adjustment is supposed to be it's unique selling point...
2838  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BTC-e & Mtgox being DDOSed ? on: April 10, 2013, 09:11:19 PM
Cant login to BTC-e also mtgox has 7min lag and prices are as followed

B = $179

L = $3.80

 Sad

I'm logged into BTC-e now, everything rallying up superhard
2839  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [QQQ] TRC/CRAZY_RABBIT SO ARE YOU GOING TO CHANGE TO BTC RETARGET YET? on: April 10, 2013, 08:38:31 PM
Good God. Not another TRC mess up. This is getting silly.

I thought there was supposed to be some kind of hard coded 3 day hack in this patch that guaranteed us at least 3 days of no difficulty chaos.

And as usual we have crazy_rabbit running around telling us everything is fine, as the coin is jumping up and down from 400 to 40k.

2840  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which ALT-coins can really make it? on: April 09, 2013, 10:32:37 PM
Bear in mind PPCoin's were going for 2 cents 3 weeks ago.

We'll know more when we how people react to Litecoin being on mtgox.
