2861  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 51% "attack" on Bytecoins and Terracoins. on: April 06, 2013, 09:53:05 PM
What are the person(s) with avalons agenda? Are you attacking TRC simply for the money, or do you have some vested interest in it failing?

There was no attack. TRC actually crumbled just by the avalan guy doing mining, that's how weak the TRC network is.
2862  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Buying 1K BTE on: April 06, 2013, 09:42:38 PM
What is the 'safe' or 'standard' way to do these transactions? (ie avoid being scammed)

Escrow agent.

Can you please elaborate a bit further.  Smiley

2864  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Should btc-e.com remove the trollbox aka chatbox on: April 06, 2013, 08:23:37 PM

Of course friend!

What do you think about the idea of chat rooms. This would make the chat more readable and you could have a different room for each currency to avoid so much fighting and trash talking! Good idea or bad idea?
2865  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: LTC on MTGOX on: April 06, 2013, 05:41:23 PM
MagicalTux said many currencies will be added, not just Litecoin (check his last tweet)

Yeah he does imply that  Smiley Encouraging that he said it in response to a question about PPCoin.

I would be surprised if TRC ends up on there though with it's recent network problems.
2866  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: PPCoin is the only ALTcoin on: April 06, 2013, 05:40:09 PM
PPCoin has moved up to third in the market capitalisation list, behind only Bitcoin and Litecoin  Cheesy
2867  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Should btc-e.com remove the trollbox aka chatbox on: April 06, 2013, 04:36:25 PM
My arguments for doing this:

1. The chat is moving incredibly quickly now. I can imagine in 6 months it will actually be impossible to keep up with it, in the present structure. edit: guess it varies as now it's slow, but it's definitely too fast at times for me

2. With so many people investing into alt currencies, there is constant 'car sales man' talk on the chat. This was there before but now it's literally non-stop. It's a shame because I used to enjoy talking there but now it's almost a non-stop shouting match mixed with trash talk Embarrassed

3. If I was a newcomer who had just bought some bitcoins and was investigating alt currencies and I went onto that site, I would be put off by the stream of 'Buy Ltc!', 'No buy TRC LTC crashing', 'LITECHICKUNN!!' etc. Never used to be this bad and it doesn't create a good impression.

And I know I can hide the chat, I have just stopped reading it now...
2868  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: PPCoin is the only ALTcoin on: April 06, 2013, 02:36:08 PM
I don't get why TRC is currently worth more than PPC.

Me neither. Then factor in TRC does nothing new that Bitcoin or Litecoin don't do already, whereas PPC takes an innovative approach and has it's own unique advantages (e.g. energy efficiency+ proof of stake). Energy efficiency is a going to be a biggie in years to come, when Bitcoins are commonplace people will look at the billions of units of electricity being wasted and look for a 'greener' alternative.
2869  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin crashing 70% right now! on: April 06, 2013, 02:33:55 PM
It's $3.1 right now...
2870  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I've shunned Bytecoin on: April 06, 2013, 02:00:03 PM
The april fools thing is just such an issue for me. Not to mention the others you mentioned. People are so upset that they weren't in on the first days of BTC that they're willing to toss processing power to the wind for little more reason than to make 50 coins of something at a time. I wish I was in in on the early days of BTC too but bytecoin isn't going to make it. LTC has far more potential and it's been around years longer. If someone's going to get into a cryptocurrency, it's going to be either BTC or LTC. I see those two being the biggest two for (hopefully) decades to come. I just think starting up a currency now without a goal in mind is useless.

I'm all for currency competition, I hope there are hundreds of variants made in the future so that we have even more options, but *duplicate copies* should be ignored completely as money grabs.

It's going to be another BBQ coin.

People are blatantly just trying to print themselves money now. It will get to the point where there are so many alt currencies being launched that only the strongest will get any kind of attention.
2871  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: oh why oh why did we sell...... on: April 06, 2013, 01:57:18 PM
Lesson #1:

Never sell crypto pre-boom.

Lesson #2:

Hoarding never fails

lmao.

I'm gonna mine a bit of every new coin now as 'insurance'.
2872  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: PPC hits a milestone - survives first major bubble on: April 06, 2013, 01:55:45 PM
WTFWTFWTF!!! They were trading PPC at 0.06 while I was asleep? I would have been rich If I sold at these prices, and my coins are not even stuck in Vircurex. Damn, this was the most expensive sleep in my life Cheesy

I sold a thousand for $2.5.
2873  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / TRC is in the middle of a hype bubble that is going to burst on: April 06, 2013, 01:50:08 PM
Have to say it,TRC is in a hype bubble right now. All manner of things point to this being nothing but a hype and hope coin. It doesn't have any advantages over Bitcoin or Litecoin, apart from the fast difficulty adjustment which is actually a crippling disadvantage. Scroll down the topics and you'll see a large number of people complaining about things going badly wrong. Last night blocks weren't syncing, confirms were taking 5 hours to come through etc.

Other things from today:

"Having network hash rate going from 100~200 Giga hash/second to 4.5 Tera hash/second, then back down again is just crazy.  This is almost as bad getting 51% attacked by a pool. "

"You are wrong. 10 out of 10 valid blocks I mined solo were accepted by client but rejected by network. Difficulty still adjusts almost at random, not every 30 blocks."

Some topics:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=168708.0

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=168640.0

It's been stress tested now with a lot of users trading it and mining it and it has crumbled badly.

And this is from people using ASICs to mine. Imagine what happened if someone with an ASIC actually intentionally tried to cause trouble. The only reason the price is so high is because a lot of people aren't aware of these issues or they are focusing on making a short term profit over a matter of hours or days rather than thinking long term.

In it's current state this simply isn't a usable currency system to use as payment!
2874  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CAN SOME ONE GET VRX TO RELEASE PPC TO ADDRESSES!!!! on: April 06, 2013, 02:09:54 AM
Unbelievable hype for PPC. Just imagine if MtGox ever handles LTC.

I sold 1000 PPC for $2.5 five minutes ago  Cheesy  Cheesy Price stablizing now...
2875  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Terracoin is not dead. AKA: I always said fast diff adjust was good. on: April 06, 2013, 01:47:15 AM

Correction- hop on and hop off was a good thing.

I and others disagree, it was abused blatantly and you know it. That's the whole reason why it was changed in the first place.
2876  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Terracoin is not dead. AKA: I always said fast diff adjust was good. on: April 06, 2013, 01:44:45 AM
You find out if a coin is a winner by stress testing it, and Terracoin has crumbled.

The only unique feature of Terracoin actually breaks it. And even when the difficulty adjustment was fast people would hop on and off and exploit it.
2877  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Terracoin on: April 06, 2013, 01:36:40 AM
Note, TRC still hasn't been sold yet on BTC-e... Everyone knows that buying in to something dead isn't worth it.

Isn't the reason TRC hasn't been sold yet because without the ability for blocks to be mined, no confirmations can be sent?
That's why he's implying it's worthless because the network grinded to a halt.

Doesn't make for a very efficient payment system
2878  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CAN SOME ONE GET VRX TO RELEASE PPC TO ADDRESSES!!!! on: April 06, 2013, 01:33:26 AM
NEED TO GET MY PPC NOW
Btw PPC deposits are taking to forever to confirm anyway. I guess a ton of people are flooding the wallet
2879  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CAN SOME ONE GET VRX TO RELEASE PPC TO ADDRESSES!!!! on: April 06, 2013, 01:32:41 AM
NEED TO GET MY PPC NOW
I wonder why lol  Wink
2880  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Terracoin on: April 06, 2013, 01:29:48 AM
No, I actually wanted to keep mining something fairly worthwhile. Now, I can't feasibly do that and what I do mine can't really be sold because all the ASICs pretty much gobbled it up and are dumping 10k or more while they leave us with the tattered scraps.

@Nolo, You can count how many I have with two fingers.

Note, TRC still hasn't been sold yet on BTC-e... Everyone knows that buying in to something dead isn't worth it.

I have to agree unfortunately. The sad thing is a lot of the people who buy at btc-e are really clueless about the inner details, I saw one asking what an ASIC was etc..
