2921  Other / Archival / Re: Fake trading volumes still thrive among exchanges on: September 01, 2022, 09:33:07 AM
After CZ bought CoinMarketCap, this service became the same as Binance. It broadcasts unreliable and fake data.
Even though I am not fan of CZ, CoinMarketCap improved after he took it over as they used to be even worse before that. Few years ago it was normal for a 2nd tier scammy exchanges like P2PB2B or HitBTC to appear on the top of the list of exchanges, while now they are nowhere near the top, which is a good thing for those newbs that are mainly using CMC and are deciding where to trade based on that list.

Regarding the fake volume, no surprises there as that's the industry standard - everything that can be faked is faked.
2922  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitcoin hit 2022 low again? on: September 01, 2022, 09:15:18 AM
You have explained yourself well, and I like it. But gut feelings, instincts and the rest are alien to quality trading, you should avoid them. Yet, I agree with you that Bitcoin is under pressure, and this might remain till the end of this year.
I am very well aware of the fact that you can't trade on gut feeling or luck (its basically a gamble in that case) and that's why i gave up in trading all together few years ago and instead focused on hold and DCA which works like a charm.

You might want to be concerned if Bitcoin goes down below $17,000 this year. This means that it must have breached the low of June at $17,625, which is also the low of 2022. This will be disastrous for Bitcoin as it might be aiming for lower levels around $10,000 after this breakout.
I don't think that bitcoin going below ~$17k would be disastrous at all. Sure, it wouldn't be nice, but that's far from disaster level. For me personally, as long as we don't reach levels lower than previous cycle low (slightly below $3k) we are good.

@rikafip, my friend, I am going to raise the “slacking threshold” to absurd levels, don’t follow my footsteps!

I rather take a decision that excludes me from unnecessary adrenaline rush than indulge it and don't be at ease while it lasted because I'm curious to find out something.
Adrenaline rush? We are talking here about going to crypto conference and not about skydiving or bungee jumping. Just use common sense and you are good.
2925  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitcoin hit 2022 low again? on: August 30, 2022, 11:50:21 AM
Voted yes as my gut feeling (which has been wrong many times before)tells me that we haven't seen the worse yet and I expect at least one more dump before we start slowly recovering. Having said that, even though I expect BTC to go below 17k by end of this year I am buying at these level (doing DCA) since price is still great and trying to time the bottom is fool's errand.
2926  Other / Archival / Re: Leading countries in the use of crypto on: August 30, 2022, 08:16:53 AM
I can’t say for sure that they all own cryptocurrencies, but the fact that such a percentage of people are definitely familiar with cryptocurrencies is for sure.
Well its one thing to know about cryptocurrencies and entirely different to actually own/use some.

In another infographic (not from the Merchant Machine),  calculated that there are even more crypto users in Africa than in North America or Europe
Call me pessimistic, but I think that those numbers are inflated as well. According to that data ~6% of people in Europe uses crypto. In my country we have pretty decent crypto laws and I still think that we are far away from that percentage (I would say that we are in maybe ~1% region, if that).

Ownership of cryptocurrencies is not limited to bitcoin alone.
I am well aware of that fact that there are more owners of altcoins (combined of course) that of bitcoin, but even counting that I think that numbers heavily inflated. As I said it, I simply don't see it around me and I do move in those circles attend crypto conferences etc, people around me know that I know thing or two about crypto so its not like I am hiding it so people won't talk to me about it.
2927  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is going to a the bitcoin conference worth it? on: August 29, 2022, 05:17:44 PM

Yes it is an experience you cannot do without, it's going to be a remarkable one indeed especially if it's a global conference that brings together cryptopreneurs from different parts of the world
As someone who attended a couple of bitcoin (and crypto in general) conferences, I can tell you that its definitely something you can live without.

What if those putting up the conference aren't genuine Bitcoiners and aren't out to actually teach but to get contacts of people they're likely going to snoop on later? What if they're scammers who might likely ask to trade for you or provide one signal or the other? Besides, you've to reckon that once you put yourself out there and mingle with people you truly don't know; your privacy is compromised.
This sounds very paranoid to me, and I would personally take an extremely slight chance of something happening to me than go through life with that mindset, constantly thinking what can go wrong. Sure, I won't go to a dodgy part of town to some shady conference, but I also won't stop me from doing some things just because there is a minuscule chance of a bad thing happening.

@OP It might be worth your time if you are looking for employment in that sector, but otherwise its nothing special.
2928  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: in debt but want to invest. on: August 27, 2022, 10:59:03 AM
If you had 100k loan and ignored it, took another loan and invested everything a year ago at 30k you'd still make enough to pay back everything and have money on top of it by the end of the year.
That's not a very smart thing to, to go into so much debt for any investment, including bitcoin. Sure, you will most likely profit in the long run, but bitcoin price may stay below your entry for years and you might suddenly need money/lose job etc. On top of that, we live in very uncertain times with recession knocking at our door.

OP If I am you I wouldn't go more in debt just to continue DCA, no matter how tempting current bitcoin price is. You are supposed to use the money you don't need for everyday life and invest in bitcoin, and not the money you don't have.
2929  Other / Meta / Re: Bumping of sale threads with alts on: August 27, 2022, 10:50:48 AM
First, it would be good if you can update your first post with examples of what you are talking about so we can take a look. To prove that some sellers are using alts, you will have to provide some evidence of it (which won't be easy).

Least you can do is to report couple of posts (explain why exactly you are reporting them) and see whether they get deleted.

2931  Other / Archival / Re: Leading countries in the use of crypto on: August 23, 2022, 02:59:08 PM
I don't know how accurate most of this Data is and why the segregation of Africa and South America into a set and then having the main set list, I am not Data analyst but I definitely know many of such list can be from individual thoughts.
Africa and South America are not segregated. That first table is based on overall score, while 2nd one is about the percentage of crypto owners, and that's where Nigeria and South America dominates. Well, at least according to them.

I think some African countries really should have made it to the top ten on the main list. Countries like Nigerian.
I wouldn't take this study too seriously as some other countries with high crypto adoption rate are also missing. By the way, since you are from Nigeria, do you have a feeling that 40% of all people in your country owns crypto?

2932  Other / Archival / Re: Leading countries in the use of crypto on: August 23, 2022, 02:36:35 PM
Absolutely all data on this study looks completely off; some numbers are heavily inflated like percentage of crypto owners, while some like number of businesses that accepts crypto and number of BATM look lower than they should be. Looks to me like that Merchant Machine pulled those number out of their ass and not by conducting a serious study.

There are a lot of crypto users in Russia.
Its one thing to have " a lot of crypto users", but according to that data one in eight Russians owns crypto. From your experience, do you really think that's the case? I have the same question for other members whose countries are on their list, like Nigeria where according to that list incredibly high 42% of total population own crypto, meaning 80 million people.

If those numbers were true, BTC would be at six figure number years ago.

2933  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Mjesečna Analiza za Hrvatsku Lokalnu Zajednicu (Bitcointalk Croatian) on: August 23, 2022, 07:24:39 AM
Kao sto sam neki dan obecao, evo i mjesecne analize naseg boarda. Kao i vujek, pregled je napravljen pomocu @DdmrDdmr Merit Dashboarda and @TryNinja Ninjastic.spacea.

Broj postova tijekom Srpnja 2022.

1. slackovic [51]
2. Daniel91 [44]
3. Trofo [35]
4. dkbit98 [24]
5. casperBGD [21]
6. Rikafip [14]
7. cryptofrka [14]
8. Pmalek [11]
9. FatFork [9]
10. CroBoy12 [7]
11. Jstallone [6]
12. Bitcoin Store [2]
13. freigeist [2]
14. sbogovac [2]
15. Hazeldrew [1]
16. cryptoshupak [1]
17. examplens [1]

2934  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [SCAM WARNING] QI Blockchain Plagiarized Whitepaper and Website Content on: August 23, 2022, 05:59:17 AM
Exactly, haha. Easy solution, nothing to do argue with this anymore, Hope the creator will understand this and remove this scam tag.
That's not exactly how things work around here and it will take much more than just correcting whitepaper to get thoise tag removed.

So it took them several days to create a whitepaper on their own, then why would they hire someone to create plagiarized whitepaper on first place, if they could have done it by themselves? I wont believe that the team was "super busy" and delegated the detailed description of their own project, ideas, plans to someone else. That does not make any sense.
They probably hired someone else to rewrite whitepaper for them. Or who knows, maybe the same people that wrote the first version wrote the 2nd one as well.

2935  Other / Meta / Re: Ban request for user: Snowshow on: August 23, 2022, 05:43:15 AM
Remember that we had those cases in the Croatian section where it was reported that friends of our local community members couldn't register because their newly-created accounts got evil points assigned to them? That happened despite them never having used Bitcointalk before.
Not that I remember people in this forum talking about, but I have a friend that tried registering on this forum ~two years ago and got that evil fee thing without doing anything wrong. He even tried using VPN but all those IPs that he used were flagged as well so in the end he gave up, and he didn't want to accept me paying the fee. He was really turned off by that approach (even though fee was very small) and I must say that I can't blame him because if that happened to me when I registered on this forum, 99.99% I would just give up and continued discussing crypto related stuff on forum.hr where I was for years before I came here. God knows how many users were lost that way.

So that means that you can't complete registration and write anything in forum until you pay random amount of coins.
That's not entirely true as from my understanding you can register the account, its just that you can't post until you pay. I also think that its not a random amount of BTC that you have to pay but instead it depends on the amount of evil you have.

That troll just won't let go. He keeps making the same arguments, which have already been proven invalid, over and over in the hope that someone will fall for it.
Keep in mind that arguing with him is a convenient way of filling up your signature quota so there is always someone willing to argue with him, even though they know its completely pointless.
2936  Other / Meta / Re: Ban request for user: Snowshow on: August 22, 2022, 07:09:49 AM
Every other place I frequent, be it motorcycle boards, tech boards, whatever trolls are removed. Some of the more fun admins have shadow ban settings where they are the only ones that can see their posts so they can troll on but nobody sees them.

Here, although against the 'rules' it seems to be permitted.
As others have pointed out unless certain lines are crossed, they get to stay. I guess page views are more important the quality.
fxsurfer/snowshow started his trolling career on the biggest Croatian forum (forum.hr) at least 5 years ago but they are not so hesitant to ban obvious ban evaders/trolls so he gets banned as soon as someone spots his new account. In the end he started avoiding it and instead focused on bitcointalk where on top of having bigger audience he can get away with one alt account after another, even though its obvious who is behind them.

I don't know, but you can't register in forum again if IP address connected with your banned account is used again.
Hm care to share some proof of that as somehow I doubt it given all the ban evasion that is going on. And do you mean you literally can't register, or there is that evil fee thing if you try to create new account?

2937  Economy / Reputation / Re: tomos81 Changed Hands? on: August 22, 2022, 06:53:20 AM
Perhaps the person in charge of screening new applicants into the stake campaign isn't keen enough, but there's nothing much we can do since it's their money. If it's gambling board shitposters they prefer to pay, then that's up to them. It's their loss.
It's sellers market at the moment as there are more spots in bitcoin signature campaigns that there are decent posters, which results with shitposters like @tomos81 being able to enter the campaign. Bar to enter keeps lowering for some time (I would say for the last two years) or so so we can expect more and more similar shitposters being able to enter campaigns,

But on the side change of account ownership, I am also going to mark then since the accused hasn't bothered to come around and prove to as that they are still the same owner.
He did contact me via PM, asking me to reconsider my tag (I mistakenly gave him negative which I changed to neutral) so he is well aware of this thread but for whatever reason decided to ignore it (most likely because he is guilty as charged).
2938  Other / Meta / Re: Ban request for user: Snowshow on: August 21, 2022, 08:05:51 PM
@Marlboroza tried to achieve the same thing few years ago to no avail so unfortunately I don't think that you will succeed either.

Given that the user did not use any coin addresses or social network accounts that could be a link between his alt accounts, the only option left is to check IP addresses, but if it's a VPN or TOR, even that can be a dead end.
Was there ever a similar case, where someone got banned via shared IP address with the previously banned account?

2939  Economy / Reputation / Re: I'm leaving here, goodbye friends! on: August 21, 2022, 02:20:32 PM
But the rules of the forum are too restrictive to allow me to speak freely, and I don't like being restricted, so I may not come back to the forum to speak in the future.
If you think that rules on bitcointalk are too restrictive that only means you aren't really experienced with forums. As someone who is on various forums for ~20 years, I can say that bitcointalk is by far the least restrictive forum I was ever part of. I advise you to grow a thicker skin otherwise you will have a hard time anywhere else.
2940  Economy / Reputation / Re: tomos81 Changed Hands? on: August 21, 2022, 09:30:24 AM
I have seen the spreadsheet and can confirm that he was accepted in the signature campaign.
I personally wouldn't let him be part of altcoin signature campaign let alone BTC campaign. That @tomos81 is an utter gambling board shitposter, mostly writing about stuff that he obviously knows nothing about and its disappointing to see that he is getting paid for that drivel.

I've said that one can change quickly when they need money [remember this one], but one can always doubt that accounts change hands regardless of whether they are sold or hacked. You can tag them with evidence, but I'm not going to pull out a gun quickly until I have valid evidence. You know? i have to get lot of valid evidence before tagging another user as guilty and i mostly do it myself instead of having a DT member investigate it. I've gained some valuable experience before, so maybe I'll be little cautious.
What has to happen for someone to regress in terms of English as it happened with @tomos81? People usually get better and here we have the opposite. Just compare his post history before he woke up few months ago and now and you will see the difference. To be fair, person that was behind this account up until 2018 obviously didn't care much about punctuation etc but his English was obviously better than what it is now and changing posting so drastically is a huge red flag.

@Crypt0S0ul  I think that you are onto something here and for now I am leaving neutral feedback that might change to negative in the future.
