Yes, there is nothing we can do about slot machines because the game is completely based on luck, all we can do is switch machines when the spins don't feel good.
A kind of game to play if we want to have fun, but should be done with limits since there's a big house edge in this game which means we will never win in the long run. Some people win in slots, but it's for s short run only, they should enjoy while it last because the moment they'll take it seriously, that's when they'll start ot be frustrated as the law of average will fall which the edge is not on our favor.

Poker is not entirely about luck but how we can play on the opponent's emotions so that he fold before opening his cards. Apart from that, we also have to be patient waiting to get good cards before deciding to bet. I like playing poker with large enough capital so that we can put pressure on our opponents. When the balance is low we often can't apply pressure and just wait for the cards to be really good before placing a bet.

When you are playing poker, you should focus with your strategy. Maybe there's a little luck factor since we can't read cards here unlike with blackjack game. However, it's just a matter of mindset, we have to trust ourselves that our skills will make us profitable. I'm sure we know poker players who are successful winning millions of dollars in poker, that's because of their skills, not luck.
302  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Look out for a good Altcoin and buy now! on: January 23, 2024, 12:25:22 PM
yes the ETF was approved and after that the price of bitcoin rose drastically, but recently the price of bitcoin has actually decreased. Always be careful with your investments because after there is a peak there will most likely be a cliff. All the altcoins you say are popular altcoins and worth investing in (for me Doge is not included), but you also have to do an analysis to determine the best time to buy.

Despite of the success Dogecoin has and how it's value significantly increased, not to mention the hype around it, but not including it on the list of the altcoins where you put your money is considered a good decision. I wouldn't want to risk my money in something that would vanish anytime now in an instant. Being a coin that has no real use cases is such a big no no for me. I'd rather have bitcoin purchases in small fractions via DCA, that way I have higher assurance of profit.
Because you thought already that Dogecoin never gives you the desired profit that you wanted to get and many people the same.
But we can't set aside the fact that these meme coins give huge profits for some people which we can't experience with known coins in the market. Can't just ignore how Shiba Inu and Pepe coins become an interesting investment for most. Unfortunately, these meme coins have not been made for long-term investment as they just come in the hype, make a pump for a while, and then settle down.

Their existence may not good as we think but they have also contributed to the market interest of the people. It is somehow we can't deny that many of them are scams.
303  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2023-2024 betting on: January 22, 2024, 12:54:28 PM
Sacramento Kings - Atlanta Hawks - Atlanta Hawks (10.5)

Mate can I make a comment? Maybe I'm wrong but I just want to say this. Honestly, I don't like the line of the Hawks which is +8.5 now. For me, this seems to be a trap since the Kings are on a losing streak, so most likely if they will win, it will be via blowout so they will also cover the spread.

That looks like a trap if you will not check the line up of the Atlanta Hawks. As per report, Trae young is not playing, so missing their main man against a hungry team Sacramento Kings is really huge.

As stated in this report.

https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/trae-young-injury-update-hawks-star-placed-in-concussion-protocol-out-indefinitely/

Quote
Trae Young injury update: Hawks star placed in concussion protocol, out indefinitely

The Atlanta Hawks have placed star point guard Trae Young in the concussion protocol, the team announced on Sunday. Young will be out indefinitely as he begins the NBA's mandated Return-to-Participation process, which requires players to display symptom-free behavior in order to be cleared for basketball activities.

Young was injured in the team's loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Jan. 20. Early in the fourth quarter, Young was back in transition defense and stepped in to take a charge on Isaac Okoro. While he was successful in doing so, he took a shot to the face in the process and had to leave the game.

My bad, I didn't check the injury report. However, I still believe that Sacramento Kings is due for a win, so regardless of the spread I think they'll dominate the visiting team and will not allow to make it a close game. Without Trae Young, they might struggle with their ball movement leading to many turnovers or force shots. Sacramento here are well rested, they know if they still lose this game (at home) it will affect their confidence going forward.

As we can see, Kings are on a 4 losing streak, and two of that are suppose to be a winnable game against Bucks and Suns. So they'll not let this opportunity pass, they'll be more focus and beat the undermanned Hawks.

305  Economy / Speculation / Re: Can anyone be a Bitcoin speculation expert? on: January 21, 2024, 09:48:56 PM
Simply put, it is impossible to become an expert on Bitcoin. Because we talk speculatively about Bitcoin. It's not just us common people who invest small amounts in Bitcoin. There are many institutional investments and there are many large whales. They can change the price of Bitcoin anytime they want. Therefore, it is not possible to predict the future value of Bitcoin, only speculation.
How is this not possible? Open any specialized publication or media and it will be full of such experts. Also, don’t forget about the bloggers on YouTube, of whom there are already hundreds and someone considers them experts (including themselves). The second question is about their competence and how professional and correct they are in their forecasts, but how do we know how many people have so many opinions.
Do they have proven experts? No, but they just proclaim themselves as an expert. In fact, nobody could be an expert in speculation because no matter how these people do, they can't predict the market. They are professional but it doesn't mean that they are expert in speculating the prize because nobody makes it right. And what they did is just their own opinion and of course, that could be based on the market history.

And you are talking about YouTube bloggers? Most of them have no deep knowledge of crypto, they just pretending.
We can speculate the trend of Bitcoin but if we think being an expert, that is impossible.
306  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What is your advised for being a trader? on: January 20, 2024, 08:44:10 PM
Trading is kind of risky thing where you can generate money and you also can lost the whole fund within few seconds. So it isn't recommend to trade if you don't know anything. But I don't support the idea "Doing trades with small fund and keep learning". Cause thus i made loss continuesly. i know a traders need to know technical, fandmental analysis, need to check news and many more. So What things do you follow and advice before open a trade?
Actually trading is simple. Buy at low prices, and sell at high prices. Automatically there is no loss term. If the price drops, we can hold coins until the price rises again.
The most important thing in crypto trading is choosing coins with potential, and avoid coins that have just been listed on the exchange, because these coins will drop up to 90% of the initial listing price.
Okay, many people are saying trading is easy but have you ever wondered why many traders have failed? It was not as easy as we think in real life but it was hard due to the volatility of the market and if we don't have enough knowledge and good analysis, we just lose. This is the usual problem for most traders as they start their journey without enough knowledge as they think that simple buying and selling are enough.

So why we are encouraged to continue learning because that is the way it helps us to improve. If we want to reach our goal, then we also never stop learning and keep improving.
307  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The future of Bitcoin as digital currency on: January 19, 2024, 07:09:44 AM
Bitcoin is just a tool for us too possibly reach our dreams of financial freedom but if we are doing nothing about it we won't succeed of course. No matter what will happen "keep calm and buy Bitcoin" that is what other investors will tell you and I think that was proven and tested by many.
A tool for success but also a tool for big losses.
Until these days, the future of Bitcoin remains uncertain but we are optimistic for good and making people once live to change. Early investors prove that Bitcoin is a great and profitable investment long term but this won't assure anyone as it depends on us - funds security and investment strategies.

Despite the continuous price increase and adoption, we still do not know what will happen next. Some businesses are already accepting this as a mode of payment but the majority are still not because of its volatile behavior. We can't say how far it reach...
308  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Can I become a professional trader? on: January 18, 2024, 12:54:45 PM
As long as we can, it is likely possible. But I would say that becoming a professional trader is not too easy. Many people had tried this kind of job but guess what, many of them had quit. We can ask why but it is because not all are meant for this job and of course, this won't work for impatient, emotional, and greedy people.

So if you think you can control yourselves and embrace the pressure it gives, it is not impossible to reach.
And most of all, we don't have to stop learning and become confident enough as we already acquired knowledge and skills instead, continue to learn more things from our experience.
309  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: January 18, 2024, 09:05:39 AM
Then no trade will happen. I think Lakers are good enough with the current roster, they just face some minor problems but now they are back on the winning track. 2 straight wins against 2 good teams, first OKC and now Dallas (irving and Luka), sure their confidence are now back.

Lakers have to live with their identity, they continue being a good defensive team and they need to protect Davis as he is the key for this team to win a championship again. A healthy Davis + Lebron is a big threat among the teams regardless of their ranking.
I have no doubt that they will protect Davis, I even believe that it is insane to trade him (unless LAL receives an extremely advantageous offer).
That's true, if AD and LJ stay healthy, and if a third player stays constant and helps this duo, LAL could become a dangerous team, especially in the playoffs (if they get a seed, and I think that's possible ).
Davis could anytime explode, he was the MVP on the IST championship, on that particular game only. Although per record it was Lebron. lol.
True, Davis is really something, a very special big man who can shoot 3's as well, very clutch with his FT's so I don't think the Lakers will trade him as thats not gonna help Lebron as he continue to build his legacy.

In the next few days, Lakers will play against the Nets, I believe the LAL will win... Brooklyn had their fourth consecutive loss and Lakers, I can feel that game after game they are more confident, anyway, I believe it will be an interesting game to see.
If Nets can't beat the low ranking Portland, how can they handle the LA Lakers? Of course the Lakers will win here and they'll up their win streak to 3.
310  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: January 18, 2024, 08:11:33 AM
Unfortunately TNT loss, it turns out that the high handicap for them was just a trapped. At the first quarter, TNT were able to compete with the energy of Magnolia, but they don't have the consistency unlike the Magnolia who are still relentless with their defense. It was a very physical game, even RHJ struggled due to the suffucating defense employed to him. It's just that Magnolia played strong defense and good ball movement, and the lack of good point guard has been a problem for TNT resulting to more turnovers than usual.

Magnolia -8.5 won, (FINAL SCORE 109-94).
311  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Have you made anything with ICO's? on: January 17, 2024, 12:28:16 PM
With bitcointalk being the largest forum, I would like to know if you coins were rag pulled in ICO's. Do you consider it a scam or legit way to invest? I came in a conversation with a person who made fortune in ICO's. So, I would like to know what you know about it. A thing to try or should I ignore?
ICO projects once became too popular and profitable, and early investors and bounty participants knew it. But it was just in the past years and their time is over, they have now not gained such fame instead, they are in the rejection because of huge scams and shitcoins.
Ignoring them is the best thing to do. At this time, AI projects have already been on the move after meme coins, you may have to take a look and consider them. Still, you need to be cautious in choosing new projects, not all of them are worth it, many are still scam and useless projects.
312  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: January 17, 2024, 05:04:55 AM
Indeed, and thtat's the reason why I keep saying that Magnolia needs to finished it in their first game to avoid that pressure and secure their position in the next round. But, not going to be easy and for sure there are different views regarding to who's going to win the first game.. Good luck mga kabayan!

So this will be tomorrow, right?

Let me check the betting odds. What we have here is the Hotshots at -8.5 against TNT? Is there something wrong with the odds? I just can't believe that TNT was underestimated like this, I mean Hotspots are good but TNT aren't that bad, plus they came from a huge win.

I think I should take TNT at 2.98 this early.

There's a slight line movement, Magnolia is now -7.5. Judging on the line, i don't see it a significant movement as it's still high IMO. So the play here is still the TNT since Magnolia if they lose, they will not be eliminated due to the twice to beat advantage.

I don't know what bookie you are using to only get 2.98 because currently in my boo it's 3.35 for TNT moneyline.
313  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: January 17, 2024, 01:53:58 AM
Very close game between the Nuggets and the Sixers. 2 of the best centers we have right now, the reigning MVP and the former MVP is going at each other, both have 2 personal fouls. I will be biased that I wanted the Sixers to win because I have a bet on them.

But in any case that they've lost in a very close game, I wouldn't mind. I will just enjoy the game as it is and see them trying to best each other. Need those supporting and role players as well to show something in this game. So let's see how it goes.
And a high scoring game as well. Both teams at least have 50% FG percentage at the half, and the score is tied at 78. This is a game where we get what we paid for, and for the bettors, it will add an extra layer of excitement since these two are a championship teams and the spread is just very close.

Embiid got 23, while Jokic got 15. It's going to be an easy double double for them at the end of the game, but what's more important is to win.

Good luck, and let's enjoy the game.
314  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is GRIN still a thing? on: January 16, 2024, 01:09:36 PM
I still remember it with the mimblewimble. With all of the transactions that are happening in the privacy protocol projects, it's just sad that we get to see that the government is too strict with these types. During the launching of it, a lot have been optimistic on Grin and I think that there's also another project that have became popular together with it but I barely remember what that project is.
Many of us in the forum does, because AFAIK it was also being highlighted here as one of the payment methods when availing a copper membership but IDK what really happened on why it was discontinued. I won't say it's because governments are strict with it since we support decentralization here.

But, I think it's because it didn't get enough impression for the many so its volume got lesser, which makes it not suitable anymore as a payment method. There are always new projects that came out. And some can copy the others when they think that project is starting to get popular. I'm not talking about the meme coins here. No wonder why you can't remember that other project anymore.
With the lack of information on the reason for its discontinuation and development, it all leads us to make speculations. But as we can see, privacy coins have not gotten much attention in the community, they are not after privacy coins but for profit which is why they choose projects that are known and highly volatile coins. Until these days, only Monero has gained sustainability and market demand while the other privacy coins have gone too fast after their launching. Not really a good thing to see but can't stop people from being practical.

Just imagine that meme coins gain so much hype and market attention despite the fact that they don't have a use case.
315  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Maybe future trade is gambling on: January 16, 2024, 12:25:38 PM
Many people trade futures without having any knowledge because they think futures trading only requires guessing up or down and looks quite simple. But when they always lose, they will understand that futures trading requires good trading skills to analyze and manage when trading. whatever money is used for futures trading will be lost if one is not alert and does not have any plan.

Trading futures without the proper knowledge is undoubtedly the same as gambling without the proper knowledge. Whatever you decide to do, you need to have good knowledge. It is important to understand that there will be losses in any business (trading or gambling), you cannot do without it, but if you have sufficient knowledge, then in the end you will be able to achieve a profit. If futures trading is too difficult for you, then you can try spot, if you lose more than you earn, then perhaps trading is not for you...
The sad thing is that many people choose Futures trading instead of experiencing spot trading first thinking that it was too easy and more profitable. Indeed, they realize that they are not capable enough due to a lack of knowledge and end up like they are relying on hope and luck like they are gambling.

A person who has no idea or knowledge of a particular thing will never succeed, they are just like gambling. It is just like we are throwing our money at the casino. That is why it is very important to asses our position before trading and tried to start building confidence in spot trading before jumping into Futures Trading.
316  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2023-2024 betting on: January 16, 2024, 06:15:05 AM
I've also got Oklahoma City Thunder -1.5 against the Lakers @ 1.89

I can understand why the OKC Thunder loss in this game.

Based on my observation, it seems like everyone was rooting for OKC. Line opened up at +4.5 for OKC and ended up -3, this could only mean one thing, bettors does not believe that OKC will win. So I took the initiative to follow my analysis and it paid off.

Lakers won, Lebron and AD consistent as usual, but the good thing is that the supporting cast played well.

Russell 14, Reaves 13, Hachimura 12, and wood 11. Hopefully they already figured out how to create a good rotation.

317  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Don't only pray for mass adoption, start HODLING!! on: January 15, 2024, 10:35:34 AM
I own Bitcoin but I don't tell anyone. And I hold them and I pray that Bitcoin will stay long (or even forever) in order to give opportunities to others who haven't yet seen the potential of Bitcoin.

We don't need mass adoption OP but what we need is market understanding and trust as it was far to become realistic and consider Bitcoin as another form of currency when people do not understand its purpose. Buy, Hold, and Use - that is the thing we should have to do. Adoption becomes too easy when all of us understand how Bitcoin works.
318  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Crypto scams flourish most during bull runs. on: January 15, 2024, 09:48:35 AM
Well, I hope there is data that supports such a claim OP because based on my experience, scammers have never chosen the time when they create them as it appears almost every day. Maybe it comes up in your OP that it flourishes during the bull season and it is probably because during this time a lot of people enter the market and fall into scam projects and then make a report about it. It was just the number of no-how people got into the situation, not the number of scam projects created.
That is why we should carefully know the project that we are about to invest in and stop following influencers.
319  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: January 15, 2024, 06:35:53 AM
^^ For sure, Casimero is going after Inoue but he has to wait, and all he can do right now is call him through his social media accounts and it's obvious that it's just for publicity stunt as he knows that his time is running out.

Inoue is scheduled to fight Nery and then another boxer that Tapales has beaten already. And only after that Casimero might get his chance, but still up to Inoue as Casimero's name is somewhat in the middle as far as super bantamweight goes as he is no longer a champion, so he has no leverage but to create a hype and call Inoue in his social media for publicity.

casimero is not a big boxer and not a top boxer. and only from the philippines not the USA. so it will be difficult to fight inoue. not because of his boxing quality but promoters need big names so that their boxing events can generate large profits and a lot. if inoue is of course whoever the opponent is offered by the promoter must be served. if the promoter doesn't want it, it's hard for a fight to happen.

Yes, it depends on the promoter but I disagree with you about Casimero not a top boxer, only popular in the Philippines, not in the US. Even Inoue is not popular in US since most of his fights are in Japan, but if you care to look at Casimero's record, you will see that he had been in many country to challenge their champion, that's why he is called a road warrior.

As per record, Casimero has more fights in US/Europe than Inoue.

John Riel Casimero' boxing record.
320  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2023-2024 betting on: January 15, 2024, 05:20:00 AM
Milwaukee Bucks - Sacramento Kings - Milwaukee Bucks (-3.5) Back-to-back games for Milwaukee but I don't think they are going to pass a home game. Plus, Khris Middleton had been playing on a high level so I guess they could still cover that spread.
Middleton is probably out for the Bucks, but I still like them to cover the spread when the Kings have only beaten weaker teams like the Hornets, Pistons, and Hawks.

Bucks had lots of lapses this game, although they were at point took a good lead but they allowed the Kings to come back from a double digit deficit. This game even went to overtime, and Kings led early, but DAME TIME destroyed the spread, although they won but it was only 1 point, if that went to another OT, bucks might have win and covered.

Minnesota Timberwolves - Los Angeles Clippers - Los Angeles Clippers ML @1.78 I don't why it's like that considering how the Clippers had been playing on a high level. Well, I'll take it and the only reason I see maybe is from the travel problem.
If I had to pick this match, i'd also pick the Clippers, but they're on point with the toss-up odds.

Despite their inconsistent form, the Timberwolves don't simply lose at home (15-2) and the Clippers can be vulnerable on the road like how they lost to the Lakers last week.

Timberwolves won by the way, looks like it was hard to guess the winners today.
