301  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitfury: "16nm... sales to public start shortly" on: May 11, 2016, 05:55:37 PM
The 135-chip S7 probably loses 60-100W to the regulators. After that, the fans probably burn another 30-50W depending on speed. Give about 5W to the controller.

There was talk shortly after the S7 was released that Bitmain was starting 16nm dev.

For reference each 12038 loads at ~1.9A at 4000rpm, making each fan up to 23W.
302  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive SpondooliesTech SP20 Setup [HD] on: May 11, 2016, 05:37:05 PM
thank you... actually i bought the two 750's and connected just one up and it seems to hit 1300-1400 pretty often as someone here mentioned in one of the early posts. the particular one I have keeps restarting cgminer (might just be a less than perfect device that i acquired) and it hasn't run a full uninterrupted 24 hours I have come back to where it is located and just seen it completely off. It hasn't tripped the circuit because the wifi bridge it is connected to still has power... I am thinking maybe it keeps hitting 80C and therefore shutting itself down. I am going to stick it in a more well ventilated area and swap out the 750 for an 850 in the hopes for more stable 1500TH/s ranges.

If you have the CX750M, running it in anything but room temperature ambient will cap its maximum power pretty strictly at 750W before it gets overwhelmed. When I'd put mine in the hot boxes they'd start throwing out at about 35C with max load.

Did not think about it but with message coming out Sunday about stopping operations wonder if anyone made money going against BTCS stock Monday at opening- http://finance.yahoo.com/echarts?s=BTCS+Interactive#{%22range%22:%225d%22,%22allowChartStacking%22:true}

And this thread sure is interesting to watch to say the least.

Its not easy to trade an illiquid penny stock on something like OTC as no ones going to give you a short position so once the stale order book gets eaten through it doesn't matter what the price is because you can't trade. The volumes even in the last few days are quite low, in the order of $200,000 over the last 5 days from their market cap of $20M odd. Unfortunately BTCS has quite a few creditors are vendors who received payment in stock so this is going to hurt many a business.

My broker does not allow sortng of pinks/OTC or i would have. but as you said, there may only be a few hundred shares bridging a $2 price difference

Im surprised it hasnt tanked further TBH. that sort of news pretty much dooms BTCS as their website is useless and thier mining doesn't have the SP50 contract.

Its not $2 difference, its $0.02. The entirety of their order book down to $0.0001 is only worth approximately $55k on a cap of $15.2m. In their own SEC filings they say there isn't a liquid market for their shares and there never may be, and yet they want to uplist to NYSE?

The SP3X compensation may have accounted for the lower hashrate, but Spondoolies also missed by a wide margin their GH/W power spec.

I didn't state either way whether the compensation was fair or not, and instead took it as an assumption as its a separate topic.
306  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: May 10, 2016, 09:32:15 PM
SP-Tech did hire Dogie though. Too bad they didn't pay him.

But I guess it was cheaper to pay RoadStress to attack him (I can't remember Cypher attacking people for money. Oh well, he did work for the same people as iCEBREAKER, that should carry some punishment I guess.).

What a tangled web we weave.
I am unsure if it would be best to describe my position with Spondoolies as "hired", otherwise I would have "worked" with most of the hardware industry by now.

  • Spondoolies provided an SP10, SP30, SP20 and SP35 for evaluation.
  • Spondoolies had me sign an NDA in order to discuss very specific business matters.
  • While I often provided "consulting" - especially around releases - I was never remunerated for these services.
  • Spondoolies also provided access to their affiliate scheme.

That was the limit of our relationship. It just so happens that they decided not to pay me under their own affiliate scheme agreement, hence our relationship will continue for quite some time via lawyers.

But I guess it was cheaper to pay RoadStress to attack him (I can't remember Cypher attacking people for money. Oh well, he did work for the same people as iCEBREAKER, that should carry some punishment I guess.).
My opinion: Directly or indirectly, willingly or unwillingly, knowingly or unknowingly, RoadStress was utilised to discredit or shout over anyone who disagreed with Spondoolies. He was paid for his affiliate sales and so is happy but shouted down others who weren't. I really don't see much difference between RoadStress and ICEBREAKER Cypherdoc other than RoadStress is promoting a product that didn't immediately damage consumers, assuming the SP3X compensation they gave was sufficient. There are victims in both scenarios unfortunately.

Edit: I meant Cypherdoc.

This ponzi scheme was endorsed by bitcointalk.org
allowing a topic on the forum doesn't mean they endorse anything just so you know

Even more so its "not not allowing". Theymos does not click approve on any topic and is probably unaware of 95% of threads.

just seems a shame to end this way

does Israel not have a chapter 11 provision?

Israeli bankrupcy law is still very close to English law, meaning not really. Restructuring plans (aka "this what I'm going to do to fix the company") are very hard to get accepted.

Update: It appears a band of employees who weren't being paid had the court grant an interim liquidator. $2.25M in cash is a lot of money to burn though when you're not trading and aren't paying your employers, eh?

As of May 4, 2016 Spondoolies-tech has ceased operations.

Sorry to see you go! It was a fun ride. Thank you for everything and good luck in your future ventures!

Spondoolies may have abused the fact that BTCS kept giving them money for only token amounts of equity, then filed for bankruptcy so they keep the money and pay out their own creditors / investors. Maybe this was the master plan Guy had all along and why no one else could work out why they were merging with BTCS.

Alternatively, a different creditor filed to force them into bankruptcy before I got around to it and so while neither Spondoolies or BTCS chose this, its still happening.

They 'merged' with BTCS which from what I understand has "sole' use of their SP 50's if they exist yet.....(any correction on this welcome)

So Spondoolies...'merged' and took the money and ran....(hey no shame in that) but they are not into personal miners or heck any public for sale miners anymore from

They received $2.25M from BTCS, that's a significant amount.

Spondoolies...'merged' and took the money and ran....

For Roadstress The Cheerleader Shill, this bankruptcy is "a fun ride."  For BTCS investors and shareholders, it is devastating.

ROADSTRESS is a troll.  He helped Spondoolies scam 100 MILLION $ from BTCS and group buyers.

Just to make it clear, I was referring to the $1.5M and $0.75M investments Spondoolies received while the merger was pending. These were topups to keep the company alive and seemingly healthy while the merger was pending, as it took longer than expected to gain all the approvals. These two amounts amount doesn't include the actual merging money which never triggered.

In return for the $1.5M on December 15, 2015, BTCS received just ~3% of Spondoolies’ equity. Similarly for the $0.75M on December 15, 2015, they received just ~3% of Spondoolies’ equity, again giving Spondoolies a valuation of $25M for a very dead company. These are the "token" payments that Spondoolies appears to have taken to the grave with them, in funding rounds with likely their highest ever valuations. Crazy stuff.

Edit: To comment about RoadStress - he did at times act as Spondoolies attack squad as to keep their hands clean, but from his perspective there wasn't anything wrong with the company. He organised a group buy and received his remuneration; apparently most affiliates didn't. To then deny the existence of such claims and failures of the company was shill like though. People's mortgages, investments and even entire companies are are on the line here but its okay just as long as he got paid.

But there is nothing for you dogie, of this amount.
How much do you already have paid your  lawyer ?

Not yet, no. Lawyer is paid for up front so no changes.

From what I've read in BTCS, Inc's latest filing (Form 8-K as of May 5th), it appears bankruptcy (though I may be misinterpreting, so clarification from Spondoolies would be appreciated). From the form:

Quote
Item 8.01 Other Events.

On May 5, 2016, BTCS Inc. (the “Company”) was informed that, on May 4, 2016, a hearing was held in the district court (the “Court”) in Beersheva, Israel during which certain parties sought appointment of a temporary liquidator for Spondoolies Tech Ltd. (“Spondoolies”). As a result of the hearing, the Court appointed a temporary liquidator and the judge presiding over the proceedings set a hearing for July 14, 2016, at least one week prior to which a certificate of information must be filed with the Court as required in the applicable regulations. The Company is seeking a conference with the temporary liquidator.

At the present time, there can be no assurance that the Company’s pending acquisition of Spondoolies can be effectuated and is examining what claims, if any, it may have in connection with such acquisition and the Company’s prior investments in Spondoolies.

Yep, I was waiting for them to announce it themselves. This shitstorm isn't over though, as... The following are my OPINIONS EXPRESSED IN GOOD FAITH, I CAN NOT ATTEST TO THE ACCURACY OF THE FOLLOWING STATEMENTS.... it seems BTCS wasn't on board with that plan. It appears that Spondoolies may have abused the fact that BTCS kept giving them money for only token amounts of equity, then filed for bankruptcy so they keep the money and pay out their own creditors / investors. Maybe this was the master plan Guy had all along and why no one else could work out why they were merging with BTCS.

So you wouldn't consider the slick rackmountability, total adjustability, integrated server PSUs, spiffy UI and everything else Spondoolies did (and charged a premium for, then sold truckloads of) that Bitmain doesn't to be "frills"? Please, define "frills".

I would not consider it successful, no. The buyer has to pay for those frills, and unfortunately Spondoolies wasn't able to recoup those costs and still be able to sell units. As scyth3 suggested, no frills won over frills.

Bitmaintech won over sp-tech because of power cost not gear cost. Sp-tech was never able to self mine the way bitmaintech did.

Spondoolies made a conscious decision not to self mine, even though they ended up building a sizeable farm. That's nothing to do with power cost, and if they had decided to self mine they could have created any number of global mines in the same locations Bitmain had access to.

I will keep the thread open for now.
If it will turn into trollfest, I'll close it.

Guy

this means we will not see any sp50?
what a pitty
probably best asic miner hardware everytime...

The simple fact is you get what you pay for
And as mining history has shown us, people aren't willing to pay a price premium for frills when there is raw hashpower available elsewhere cheaper.

Except for everything Spondoolies ever sold.

The SP10 won by efficiency and density, not by frills. The SP3Xs won by preorders, not by frills. The SP20s 'won' by being sold at a huge loss, while also not being very good.

320  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Email from Avalon on: May 07, 2016, 03:08:52 PM
I still haven't wrapped my head around why Bitmain has not set up a true factory leg in the US including assembly.
For the same reason Spondoolies couldn't compete on price, its just too expensive. If they wanted a US facility they'd continue what they had before and make them in CN then ship them over in bulk.

What a jump it would give them to have a US team able to support and sell here. I understand they would lose some profit margin due to labor, but I firmly believe that it would be made back quickly with volume AND they could offer next day air service for people who want to pay it.
They already enjoy 2 day air shipping to most of the world and would need a farm in the US (expensive), so without a significant bump in price to pay for these niceties its never going to happen.
