1061  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: NEW SPONDOOLIES SP50!!! on: September 23, 2015, 02:22:12 PM
Interesting, you don't suggest Bitmain use this thread to post about all their new offerings.  How many product threads does Bitmain have? More than two...

Because
1) Spondoolies themselves chose to announce in their own thread
2) The thread is controlled by them, not a random person
3) That allows them to control their own information and change it if/when it becomes outdated
4) The link in this OP trolls the email campaign tracking
5) Bitmain has magnitudes more individual customers than Spondoolies. Spondoolies prefers to sell a tonne of product to one guy, Bitmain prefers to sell a product to a tonne of people.

Bitmain has probably 10 major threads that pop up when important:
S1, S2, S3, S4, S4+, S5, S7, C1, U3, Bitmain.
1062  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: NEW SPONDOOLIES SP50!!! on: September 23, 2015, 02:06:30 PM
Use the main thread, we don't need two. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=521520.0
1063  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: September 23, 2015, 02:04:26 PM
...
In a pack of 48 they're upwards of $400 per unit which is probably approaching $300 with Spondoolies quantities.

So that's $3,000 of PSUs. Shipping will almost certainly be palletised, those things are way too big and heavy to go through normal routes so that's a fair chunk but not really different to anyone else.
Regarding PSU cost, you don't have a clue.

I apologise for suggesting why the SP50 would be worth a higher ticket price than simply $/GH, calm down Roll Eyes. Here is where mortals have to purchase the DS1600SPE-3-001, at $400 per PSU. And here are many other sources at [$400] [$480] [$480] [$450] [$380 with 4 month lead time] [$370 with 4 month lead time]. Even if you can buy them for less they're still worth closer to retail for an SP50 customer because normal people don't have access to your prices.

Ps I think this is the first non SP20 product that hasn't shipped with overloaded PSUs, its a good start [16570 * 0.93 / 10 = 1540W per PSU].
1064  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: September 23, 2015, 01:33:19 PM
What is the price per SP50?

has to be around 25-26K shipped to be competitive considering that competitors can lower their prices. ~180 days to profitability at these numbers.

Probably more, it includes PSUs.

These are 11U = 24 x 19".
6x 120mm fans = a grid of 14 x 10"s of fans
And so the 10x 1600W PSUs *appear* to be the same 1U ones from the SP35 (Artesyn DS1600SPE-3).

1065  Other / Meta / Re: Do bulltard thought police have too much power on this site? on: September 22, 2015, 07:30:04 PM
Even as a bull the idea any bear thread gets flamed and deleted is an issue.

It hides proper threads when there are 10 newbie accounts posting several threads each along the lines of "OMGOAMGOAMWG THE PRICE IT GO DOWN BITCOIN CEO HACKED SATISHO CONFIRMED", all because one guy has shorted 5 bitcoins and wants to make $50.
1066  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Proof that Quickseller is BiPolarBob/PistolPete AND intended to SCAM! on: September 22, 2015, 07:20:06 PM

BiPolarBob is Quickseller and that's a fact.

I seriously doubt thar BiPolarBob is QS. If you can show some proof, I might change my mind, but it's going to take some real proof before I can swallow that one.
*any proof.

BiPolarBob is not Quickseller.
Neither am I for the record Cheesy I am however theymadbeartoshi.
1067  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: I was given a bunch of habaneros but... on: September 22, 2015, 04:57:59 PM
Well I downloaded this last night as well and ran it as admin and then selected the option to list all devices and then proceeded to replace the driver for the M1 Device.

So after doing so it appears that bfgminer can no longer detect the device and cgminer (4.9.2) detects it as HFB / HFA hash fast device.. but again it doesn't seem to do anything after this, no errors nothing.

 Sad

1068  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Bitmain Antminer S4 Setup [HD] on: September 22, 2015, 04:55:48 PM
Could anyone help me locate which chain number 3 is of the four boards on the s4? Is it upper or lower and is it near the power supply?

 much thanks in advance :-)

See here for the port labellings on the controller board. Its better to trace the data cables from there then us give you the "should be this one" and it be wrong if they've reversed some cables.

Thanks Dogie.

Perfect!
Nice info page.

MM

No problem, good luck.
1069  Other / Meta / Re: [poll] Should doxing be banned? on: September 22, 2015, 11:32:53 AM
doxxing is needed for scammers
Which can be done in a controlled and constructive manner and setting.
1070  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Wanted : High res pics of SP35 board on: September 22, 2015, 12:29:53 AM
You're going to be stuck with me unfortunately, no one else does this sort of photography. https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3918/14829302384_4e83f3370c_o.jpg + https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7537/15881941638_812a02eb69_o.jpg for the chip areas might be the closest you'll get.

Here are two rejects (totally unprocessed), one of the larger area around the rear of the chips: https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/663/21423292930_e15291bd1b_o.jpg and an overview type thing of an upside down board https://c2.staticflickr.com/6/5640/21423518088_a65448e062_o.jpg.

Unfortunately the hashing boards are so heavy even without heatsinks that they don't like being handled and certainly wouldn't stand up for nice pictures out of the case.
1071  Other / Meta / Re: Ban appeal - TradeFortress; re theymos dox on: September 21, 2015, 10:33:11 PM
Obviously his dox are off limits.

Its one thing for his dox to be off limits but another [for others] to claim that all doxes are alike when its off limits.
1072  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: September 21, 2015, 06:03:26 PM
So, the merger of Spondoolies with BTCS is apparently a done deal.
http://finance.yahoo.com/news/btcs-spondoolies-tech-sign-definitive-123700992.html
Quote
Following the merger, Charles Allen will remain the CEO and chairman of the board of the combined company and Yuval Rosen will join the board and be appointed as BTCS' CFO. Guy Corem, Kobi Levin, and Gadi Glikberg, current executives of Spondoolies, will also be appointed officers of the combined company.
Its not quite, still pending a few things but its essentially the two companies saying "yeah, we're going to do this unless someone tells us we can't".

Quote
Closing of the merger is subject to, among other things, receipt of regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions.

I wonder if Zvi/software lead is still with the combined company?
Zvi co-founded his own company this year and is working for MS, so if he's still involved he's definitely a busy man.
1073  Other / Meta / Re: [poll] Should doxing be banned? on: September 21, 2015, 08:36:02 AM
I'd ask anyone voting no to volunteer your doxes, because that's essentially what you're saying.
And I'd suggest anyone voting yes to be more careful with their personal information. Because some rule on this forum is not going to protect you much.
Exactly. As I've previously stated, there is no efficient way of preventing this. If someone is out to get you, they will find a way. This would require constant moderation of both users (as a person would probably created a lot of accounts) and trust (will leave negative feedback with DOX). DOX is just a summary of publicly available information. If you do not want this information to be public, then I suggest that you do something about it.

I can't really repeat this this many times. Most doxes (including mine) include non public, non listed private information but under the guise that "how can we know" the admins won't action it. So to say a dox is just a collection of known information is false and misleading, because there is no way to moderate between public and private. So.... it can and will include private information.

Its not about "being careful", its that with the current moderation policy its both hypocritical, unusable and damaging to all.

Also, there are cases in which 'doxing' will get you in trouble (e.g. where it is considered trolling).
If someone doxing you as part of a proven extortion attempt doesn't get you in trouble, nothing will.
1074  Other / Meta / Re: Ban appeal - TradeFortress; re theymos dox on: September 21, 2015, 08:32:49 AM
He does nothing but create fake accounts
Well this is just going to make him create more accounts, no? If he can't use his TF account he'll spend the time farming others.

While I pretty much disagree with everything tF has done, does and will ever do, in this case I think he's right. He did something to very clearly demonstrate the hiporacy of the statement that "doxes are allowed, even of staff". He didn't intend for it to be harassing, as a troll or for his account to be banned automatically. He proved the point, Theymos is now engaged and aware there is an issue with doxes and is considering solutions.

....Isn't this a win win? Unban him already, or find something more fitting to ban him for Tongue
1075  Other / Meta / Re: Why is non-consensual release of personal information allowed? on: September 20, 2015, 07:53:42 PM
Maybe dox should be restricted to an "investigations" board which is only viewable to Jr members and above, or something like that.

People would just copy and paste info into boards viewable by everyone.   Undecided

If accounts did that, then it would be a pretty simple matter for mods to delete them, right? If they were pretty obviously posting the info so that the whole forum could see it.

Yeah. Its actually a very good idea as long as "investigations" isn't indexable by search engines. Can put it as a subforum in scam investigations and any doxes outside of there are easily admin'able.
1076  Other / Meta / Re: Why is non-consensual release of personal information allowed? on: September 20, 2015, 07:05:53 PM
I think the point is that if true we have a double standard is all.

That's mainly my point, but there's no need for "if true". It is true, and you can easily prove it yourself -- right now.

Try posting a specific 10 digit Google Voice number, or a specific street address. You will see https://i.imgur.com/EZifOg6.png with an automatic permanent ban.

So if I were to post either of those I would be insta banned from these boards?

Probably not. Look how the username in the picture is "Bitcoin Forum"; that makes it almost certain that TF edited the page before screenshotting it/edited the screenshot, so that also means that he probably just edited the text box.

There is actually an account that is called Bitcoin Forum, but its not been used since 2011. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=34167
1077  Other / Meta / Re: Why is non-consensual release of personal information allowed? on: September 20, 2015, 03:06:23 PM
I'm confused.
what's the point of asking about theymos' dox when the U.S government clearly knows who he is and where he lives? don't tell me you want to send him a postcard or something.

I believe we should not try to dox anyone unless they have done something really wrong.

Admins claim that their own doxes are feely posted on the forum so they can leave everyones doxes. Yet no one can actually find those doxes (meaning they're worthless) and anyone attempting to post them gets auto banned.
1078  Other / Meta / Re: [poll] Should doxing be banned? on: September 20, 2015, 01:35:43 PM
I'd ask anyone voting no to volunteer your doxes, because that's essentially what you're saying.
1079  Other / Meta / Re: [poll] Should doxing be banned? on: September 20, 2015, 10:23:52 AM
No. If the DOX (which it usually does) contains only information that is publicly available on search engines (your own fault), then it should not.

I've already proven that to be false, and the other thread has more than vehemently proven that admins will delete or shield their own doxes but not those of others, while maintaining the viewpoint that they do. pNote I say "admins" in the general context that we don't know who, or one or many, or some conspiracy or none at all. Don't go witch-hunting.]
1080  Other / Meta / Re: Why is non-consensual release of personal information allowed? on: September 20, 2015, 06:08:09 AM
There is every incentive to post false information alongside a dox, or to post non public information and claim its a dox. Watch this:

"This scammer SaltySpitoon, sold me a bitcoin miner 6 months ago and now I don't want it. He is a scammer and he shot my chicken in the face. I want my money back or I will post his information". And then that gets indexed by search engines. If you pay me, I get money. If you don't then I post your dox alongside my false information and your real name (Ytlas Nootips) is forever tainted even when you conclusively prove I just made that up and you don't even have a chicken.

But again if someone did the above with an alt account to a staff member they'd be banned and the thread deleted. You know that's exactly what would happen, we can even run the experiment if there are any admin volunteers.
No one moderates false claims, it again is up to individuals to clear there own names. So in the case above, you post your counterstory, if I'm falsely claiming that I should get my money back, I lose my credibility. Your argument could be said about scam accusations and all other things. It is the cost of doing business pseudononymously. It comes back down to what recourse people have. Hurting people's means of personal investigation means there is no recourse for anyone.
You can clear your own name on here, I'd lose my credibility on here, but no one coming from off site is going to read through 20 pages of abuse from a cloud of shills to work out who was right. Especially when trust ratings aren't shown to non logged in users so even the crazies seem moderately not crazy.

You would be permanently damaged and you're saying there is no way for anyone to fix it. I mean, now we're talking lawyers to get such a simple thing fixed.

*edit* just like the person who was just banned for having their message deleted 3+ times and they kept reposting it. It has less to do with the content, and more to do with the spam.
You claim that his dox are posted on bitcointalk?  Link?

Yeah, lets see if admin accounts can get auto banned :/
