I think it depends on what the content of the thread is. A company should be able to clean up its own threads when required (ie Spondoolies deleting some racist stuff) and its not as if someone can't start a mirrored non moderated thread alongside it. Editorialised threads with an agenda however, shouldn't.

The only way this rig can exist (and be viable) is if cloudthink bought the entire last production round of the BM1384 from bitmain (even the IP to the BM1384) on the condition that bitmain do not, in the immediate future, release any new rig containing their next-gen chip.
In my book, that'd take a tad over a million US$ or multiples thereof, ... but lay out that much and you'd expect the investor to have a few quid for an office, not a serviced one in the dingy back streets of Manchester whose occupancy is 95% comprised of liquidated companies (in good company may I add, pun intended).
BM1384 couldn't get 400GH a chip.

VAT Registration 500 x $2300 = approximately £737K So they know that they will earn greater than the VAT threshold in a year and have not registered for VAT
Unless they've specifically stated that, you wouldn't actually know as there is no open register to search for registrations.

So....just as an FYI since this forum is very similar to Litecointalk, mods do not have the ability to delete PM's. I dont even think admins can do that (I've personally never tried).
Your story sounds fishy....
EDIT: I should add mods can not see PM's either.
Administrators certainly can.

Hello,
First of all, thanks for all the info you guys provided in this thread. Very helpful.
What I would like to know is what I might require for the setup of, let's say, 50 Antminer S5 besides the miners themselves and the power supplies.
If you're keeping them remotely then a cheap windows based laptop to put on the same network with teamviewer. Apart from that, ethernet cables, mains power cables, PDUs potentially, ethernet switches. That's a lot of cables What about the Internet connection? Will it require ultra-high speed? I'm in Italy atm and these guys are infamous for not-so-good ISPs. No, bandwidth is almost non existent. Lower ping <100ms helps a tiny amount, but mining is still more than possible on even a phone connection.

HI thank you for this useful post. Maybe my question has been asked already, if so I'm sorry about that, and please point me to the answer. I would like to know whether is there a way to configure more than 1 miner at the same time, and if so how. Thank you
Multiminer sounds what you need. Hello,

@tbolt Looking at your results I feel the Core voltage must be changing as I cannot see that anything else could give such a big change in power consumption.
My measurements all relate to S3 & S3+ which I think have similar hashing boards to the C2. There is BTW at least as much uncertainty in the S3 threads as to weather it is possible to reduce the core voltage with the software. I have the schematic for the S1, have not seen one for the S3 but they are similar. I am definitely measuring at the correct place, the output of the Buck Converter after the large inductor and even with the correct firmware, Bitmain disabled voltage adjustment in the latest, it does not change. Yes to Save & Apply and power off & restart.
Do you have a picture of the hash board in your C1 showing the buck converters to compare to the S3?
Thanks
@RichBC These are the only images that I have of the C1 hash board. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=846095 for PCB pictures of the original version.

if your DHGate store didn't keep refusing my VALID credit card
DHGate isn't Bitmain, its an online marketplace like Amazon or ebay. If your credit card is failing, then your card company is rejecting the transaction.

Members used to put their tip address in the signature. I've heard that tipping was frequent when bitcoin was below $100, it's nearly unheard of now. Instead, we have people offering bounties for help and small tasks.
Not only is tipping more costly than before, and it is actually a lot of work. I keep my wallet separate from the computer I use for browsing. If I need to tip, I need to save the address on my usb thumb drive and transfer the address across. Unless there is an easier way to tip using a mobile phone, app and some interface adjustments on the forum, we will not be able to bring back the tipping culture.
I think its more the mentality more than anything. When it was $100 and below people regularly donated to my guides, even if it was still $1 or $2. As soon as it went to $1000, the donations -> 0. Before it was play money, then it became money and people have a harder time parting with it.

Yes, ~200 at 4k.

I think he is also only one to hold the private key that can send alert messages. Satoshi originally had it and still has it I guess if he is still around. He passed it to Hal who in turn left it to Theymos.
Do you mean like a warning ticker to qt clients?

Bitmain (>10%), KnC (5%) and BitFury (>10%) operate large mining farms.
Bitmain shouldn't have 8/10 in ehtics. They abuse cgminer's software license, caused a hardfork by not checking blocks they mine on top on and lied about Antpool beeing a p2pool pool (not related to their hardware but same company).
Why are you talking about Bitmain DC >10% ? AntPool is a Pool for Bitmain's customer. Do we know smth about Bitmain selfish DC? They don't really advertise. Only picture I have seen is Yoshi holding a sign when they thought about selling a whole center. So I don't think we know unless someone has some inside info. A good portion of Bitmain's hardware is on AntPool. The Yoshi sign was an S2 farm being sold on behalf of a customer, it wasn't Bitmain's. So Bitmain doesn't have huge self mining, right? It does have huge self mining. "Huge" is a relative concept Somebody will say BW is a huge player, somebody Ghash, somebody Kano Which is why the FF rating isn't used any more. If you have a farm of any meaningful size, you get an F rating.

I do think the forum should have integrated changetip or something similar, it just makes sense. We are the bitcoin forum after all, and quite honestly I wouldn't consider changetip bot posts as spam if they were single line and only showed for a minimum amount ($?). If they're annoying, they can be ignored, or even set as default ignored by everyone.
Why not just implement a script that adds an icon on each post that when click opens to a screen with the users public key asking how much you would like to send to the user, and then you just click send and the user gets the btc sent to their wallet and also a PM from the forum saying they've been tipped with a pleasant chirping sound when they log into the forum alerting them to their new tip they've received. Changetip seems unnecessary if the websites implement these features themselves. Because then you might as well just have a bitcoin:address link in sigs or on profiles. The main feature of changetip is its a social and public appreciation.

I agree on John K, he was the reason that serious markets and trading were able to establish on here. Without him I doubt Friedcat would have been able to preorder on here. And probably Friedcat, he developed a lot of business and brought money to the forums. Although..... yeah.
