3001  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is your opinions about simulated reality games? on: March 21, 2022, 03:49:46 PM
I really like the concept of simulated reality and also the games that are developed with it, however, I am not going to buy a VR goggle set or a gaming console or any of the large and expensive equipment required for it. Why? the answer is very simple: because Virtual Reality is at the very beginning of its journey and technology. Think of it like being the Doom 95 version of being new.

As it currently is, it is not very fun to me. I will wait a decade or so before I get into it. By then I am sure it will have developed further.

I prefer card games anyway. So how much do you need to additionally simulate card games?
3002  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [BOXING] Logan Paul vs Mike Tyson on: March 21, 2022, 03:14:24 PM
I believe that if this fight happened, and if Mike Tyson isn't going to flatten him, then thats just planned out. He definitely took things easy on Jones and at this point, Mike is just doing this for the clout, if anything. If he were in his prime and still competetive, then Logan Paul would not stand a chance. And anyway, KSI already beat Logan, so that says everything about his strength level already. Mike will win if he wants to.  Logan does not stand a chance.

Personally, I think Logan Paul has a crappy character and that will always show, whether in the ring, in the lack of training or with his fans.
3003  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is getting more bearish, what is the trigger? on: March 20, 2022, 06:38:41 PM
The interesting thing is to always follow bitcoin price movements, when there are too many FUDs it will make investors panic, even those who spread FUDs are sometimes people who have large followers on social media, if we have known bitcoin for at least 1 year we should be able to choose and maintain bitcoin so they don't sell cheaply.

Again, FUD is part of the market, it won't be crypto if there is no FUD, so take that into consideration already. And the market seems to be maturing already, gone are the days wherein the FUD tends to sway the price negatively. Bitcoin is a cycle, the bear and bull, last year was a great year for us because the price goes on a new all time high, but it was also the signal that maybe next year, that is this year, that we might see a bearish trend which is what we are witnessing as the price is just on the $40k.

Gone are the days where Bitcoin are being influenced by fud,

Not really. More like long gone are the days when Bitcoin was almost entirely influenced by FUD. That level of speculation combined with a low market cap is what made the gigantic price swings. Nowadays we have a very large market cap so FUD does not really affect the Bitcoin prices as much as it once did but FUD will always be part of the equation. No doubt about that.

But the FUD nowadays is just a good signal to buy some cheap coin while you can.
3004  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto Scams now the second largest in the world on: March 20, 2022, 02:29:19 PM
Well due to the anonymous and decentralised nature of cryptocurrency, it is quite understandable why crypto scams would be so popular with the degenerates of our society. But it really is quite easy to avoid crypto scams. I think if you fall for a new coin without having researched its team, the whereabouts of the company, its reputation etc. then thats mainly your fault. Anyone that gullible would get scammed, obviously.

Any newcomer to crypto should really do their research. All the data and information can be found on this very forum. All it requires is time and patience.
3005  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Casimero vs Butler ordered by WBO on: March 20, 2022, 01:48:24 PM
Speaking of Casimero, seems the training of Quadro Alas is looking good so far and the team said that they are now 80 percent on his preparation against Butler.

Hopefully when the fight comes he will be in 100% so no excuses will be heard from him in case he will fail to defend his title.

He and Donaire are the popular champions in the Philippines for now, if Donaire will lose, it will only be him that will be left, therefore I expect that all the Filipinos will support him in case the anticipated fight between him and Inoue will come into reality.

Donaire has been laying waste to a cornucopia of diverse opponents. Following an early slip-up and a steady start to his amazing career after his Vic Darchinyan K.O.,  he really started climbing the ladder of weight classes. Never losing his respectful personality, even now Donaires amazing run shows no sign of weakening. I don't think that him and his world famous left-hook are going down easily. I would not bet on him losing anytime soon.

But then again, if you want to bet on him losing, thats your money down the drain :S

Very unlikely. In case you haven't noticed, I've established a pretty consistent track record of being right.

Your delusionals fuel my BTC buying habits.
3007  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: [Megathread] The long-known PoW vs. PoS debate on: March 18, 2022, 10:29:45 PM
Well no, he is quite accurate. Aside from the Proof of Work and Proof of Stake technical pro and contra arguments we need to keep an eye on the regulatory side as well. Europe is going against PoW and just because they failed to have it banned this time does not mean they will not succeed in the coming years.
Please seriously consider: what is the value of a cryptocurrency if its whole existence depends on it being supported / allowed by nation states?
In my opinion, one of the main motivations for all this is free money. Free in the sense of freedom. If the ability of a blockchain to continue operation completely depends on regulators, your blockchain is doing something wrong.

The reason why? Because (large) mining efforts are a centralised effort which can be attacked by the government, and easily so...
From my perspective its only a matter of time.
Hobby miners rejoice! Cheap gear and higher payouts, plus more decentralization - what's not to like!

Yeah looking from that perspective, I guess my own subjective view was a bit too pessimistic. In fact, the fact that they would ban and dissolve large mining operations would quite literally be better for Bitcoin. We do need to shake off the centralised parts of the whole. And in the face of pushback from the government there would come more innovation and new technologies. Although if you look at China, can Bitcoin be called a door to freedom when your entire internet is monitored and controlled by the government and even VPNs become almost impossible? Is mining even feasible in China? 20% of the Bitcoin Network remains in China under so-called undergroup miners. So I am guessing, yes.

I would be more impressed if Bitcoin turned out to be untouchable in North Korea. I think that would be the ultimate testimony for the impossible regulation of blockchain.

I guess we just need to see what the future of blockchain will be. Regulators will not give up, thats for sure.
3008  Other / Politics & Society / Re: FIFA and UEFA has suspended Russian Football teams. on: March 18, 2022, 04:30:07 PM
Remember when people acted like this towards Arabs after 9/11? Or Japanese-Americans being put into internment camps in the USA in 1942 because of their ancestry? How many times are we going to act like Germany in 1940s everytime something bad happens in the world? What is it with this incessant need for having someone to blame?

This is obviously a politically motivated move to save themselves from bad PR. This has nothing to do with sanctioning Russia or stopping military funds from causing further damage in Ukraine. What do I think? I think its ridiculous. At what point are we going to start putting Russians in camps? Maybe lets start marking Russian-owned businesses in foreign countries with a painted sickel and hammer?

Are the Russian football players killing people, supporting the invasion or funneling funds towards the military? No. I am no friend of Putin's but we need to call out discrimination when we see it.

FIFA and UEFA should be ashamed.
3009  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: [Megathread] The long-known PoW vs. PoS debate on: March 18, 2022, 03:50:48 PM
Europe is going against PoW and just because they failed to have it banned this time does not mean they will not succeed in the coming years.
Europe is not the European Union. Furthermore, they've also tried to ban Bitcoin with the alibi that it helps criminals. They'll always step on a supposedly validly-sounded argument to control you!

They don't care about the environment; their harmful activities can prove it. They don't care if 1% of the users use it for illicit activity; they want to control that 99%. It's the same reason why Binance, Coinbase etc., require KYC. They don't care for those few who'll avoid taxes; there are no studies that reveal tax avoidance reduce due to KYC requirements. They do it to control you.

ago.

Well lets not argue semantics, but yes I meant the European Union, not all of Europe it itself. I am well aware of their BS excuses and political emotional propaganda that they use to get what they want. Its poltiics, baby.

I completely agree with what you are saying, especially about KYC, which is the enemy of decentralisation and goes against the very idea behind Bitcoin itself. And we should fight it. But that does not mean they are not going to manipulate the masses until they get what they want. And history has taught us they probably will get what they want.

The reason why? Because (large) mining efforts are a centralised effort which can be attacked by the government, and easily so...

From my perspective its only a matter of time.
3010  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [BOXING]: RYAN GARCIA vs EMMANUEL TAGOE - April 9 on: March 18, 2022, 02:48:07 PM
The undefeated Garcia should have made 2021 his year. While Garcia should get the job done, this fight is about Garcia getting his rhythm back and showing everyone that his mental health issues and his hand injury are water under the bridge.

I have also not seen anything negative about his physical injury issues in the last months. Joe Goossen has really contributed to getting Ryan Garcia back on his legs and back in the ring. He is a really good trainer.

The fight against Emmanuel Tagoe will defintely be the start of something special for Garcia.
3011  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: [Megathread] The long-known PoW vs. PoS debate on: March 18, 2022, 02:08:00 PM

Their will be no green energy solution fix to the above, as China one of the largest hydro energy producers was the 1st to have banned PoW mining.
Europe could ban PoW mining by 2025.
And now you're comparing China with Europe...

Well no, he is quite accurate. Aside from the Proof of Work and Proof of Stake technical pro and contra arguments we need to keep an eye on the regulatory side as well. Europe is going against PoW and just because they failed to have it banned this time does not mean they will not succeed in the coming years. I find the entire green argument to be bull because from a starting point, because the way we produce energy is the problem, not PoW miners using that energy.

But politics follows mostly emotional arguments instead of logical ones. So we should really be prepared to see a PoW ban in the future.

Also, China does not give a damn about the environment. The ban I suspect was more poltical.
3012  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Hoard Bitcoin? on: March 18, 2022, 01:47:42 PM
You say hoarding but its not really hoarding, is it? When it comes to money, that what you described is called "saving". Saving is smart. Hoarding is gathering up useless junk that you might one day need or not need. Its just being too attached to a thing to throw it away.

But again, this is money we are talking about. A new, upgraded and improved money. A third generation of money, you could say. So there is nothing wrong with saving up for when you need it.

Or do you consider the fiat you have in your bank as something you need to spend asap?
3013  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Errol Spence Jr vs. Yordenis Ugas 3-Belt Welterweight Unification Match on: March 18, 2022, 01:37:43 PM
Errol Spence Jr was supposed to be the original opponent of Manny Pacquiao right and ended up with Yordenis Ugas which where he lost. This could be an interesting match I think Yordenis has a higher chance of winning since I was looking at previous match of Pacquiao and Spence Jr. I see that Pacquaio has an advantage but losses to Ugas so there's a high possibility that Ugas will win the match.

Actually we can't really predict precisely the outcome of the upcoming battle of Yordenis Ugas vs. Errol Spence Jr because both fighter has a skills and potentials that made them advantages to each and everyone. We can say that the betting odds for this upcoming battle is in favor of Errol Spencer and seem like Ugas is the underdog here but who knows right, we can only say what will be the end result once the battle started out. I am expecting that this fight will be a hard fight for both of them.

In the first place, no one can predict precisely, even if the odds of the favorite is 1.01 because anything can happen in the ring. Maybe Spence is the favorite to win, but what if he will get injured in the ring and Ugas will take advantage of that, or what if he is out of shape after not being active for a while?

Lots of what if, that's because we are not certain of the result.

I don't think its more about predicting with precision but rather with probability. We can't really take in unknown variables like "Spence might get injured". We have to look at the current facts and work from there. The facts say that the last time we saw Spence impress us in action was when he defended the 2020 unified championship against Danny Garcia.  That was the first fight for Spence since he was involved in that 2019 car accident. Odds were not looking that good for Spence. But he still pulled through and never showed any ill effects from the car crash.

So my money is on Spence, just because of how well he has been doing.

3014  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Canelo Alvarez vs Dmitry Bivol - May 7 on: March 18, 2022, 01:31:36 AM

We are not talking about Canelo Alvarez here. It's Dmitry Bivol who lived in Russia and has friends there and also in Ukraine. Right now, there's no danger in Russia as the invasion is happening in Ukraine. That's where Bivol concerned is although I'm sure he already understands that and trusts everything in the future that everything will be ok.

He won't be distracted on his ongoing practice and his team will help them do that. Not unless the situation got worst (no-no. There's a rumor that the fight might be delayed or canceled due to the ongoing conflict but let's remain positive it won't happen.

Defeating Canelo must only be on his mind. He should focus on that as much as he can.

Oh I misunderstood then. I thought this was about his family living in Russia or something. Unfortunately I do not know a lot about Alvarez's family.  My logical thinking went for a walk in the park for a moment. Its obvious to me now that you are talking about the family of the russian boxxer.

If what you say about Dmitry Bivol having family in Ukraine is true then I guess it would make sense that that could put him off during the fight. Can't really throw a good punch in a state of constant worry... That might throw his concentration off. Or it might not. I don't know a lot about Bivol and his fighting career.

But the point still stands about any Russian who wants to get out of Russia can currently get out. As you said, there is no war in Russia.
3015  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When and how did you discover Bitcoin? on: March 17, 2022, 10:42:57 PM

So how about you, when and how did you discover bitcoin? What were your initial thoughts?  Did you think negatively of it at first discovery and change your mind, or did you always think it was a great idea?

I don't either quite remember exactly when or how I discovered Bitcoin. But I am almost more than sure it had something to do more with seeing advice from 4chan on how to buy illicit substances on the newly formed darkweb. Of course I immediately became curious as to how exactly criminials could anonymously send each other money over the internet and law enforcement being completely helpless to stop them.

The idea of such a powerful anonymous monetary system that was completely out of any governments control was very interesting to me. So I studied it, learned more and more and now here I am with you guys.
3016  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Canelo Alvarez vs Dmitry Bivol - May 7 on: March 17, 2022, 10:18:42 PM
Anyone thinks that the current war might affect Bivol's performance? I mean he could be bother by the noise behind this one that his training and his mentality on the fight is not 100% because of the current situation in his country. There could be some friends or family members that is close to Bivol that is directly affected by the war and it might stuck into his mind. What do you guys think? Not making excuses if he lost but we have to look at this angle as well.

Maybe a little bit, I mean everyone would be surely affected knowing that your country where your family is also living is having a war with its neighboring country and then somehow you have a big event that you need to attend. I'm not a 100% sure that he's mentality towards the fight is not affected, you know his family is there trapped and yes directly affected too.

His family lives in Russia, out of the sounds of the war as they are safe there compare to Ukraine that already been under attack. Russia also seems fine even they have lots of economic sanctions. I don't see he will be distracted by his family but by what his country is doing. But since there will be a task to do, I'm sure he is focusing on his training as that's necessary.

Canelo Alvarez is a tough man to beat and Bivol should always be on his relaxed mindset condition to be able to train hard and wise.

There are stakes at risk on this match and both parties understand that losing is not an option.

Canelo Alvarez is indeed a tough man to beat and I somewhat doubt the rumor going about that he is distracted by fears and doubts of uncertainty with his family living in Russia in the current international situation of the war in Ukraine. Alvarez has always been quite concentrated on his training and his fights. If he was that troubled he could easily get his family out of there. People are fleeing out of Russia and nobody is stopping them.

So the question isn't about Canelo Alvarez's mental health. He is strong and ready.
3017  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Blame Game in gambling on: March 17, 2022, 05:45:20 PM
Heartbroken parents say Hull teacher was victim of 'predatory' gambling industry. Whom to blame for this sad incident ?

Why not try to find the root cause here first. Where were the parents when their 16 years old son was addicted to gambling ? They should have monitored his activities and this situation would not have raised. You cannot blame the doctors on insufficient medical treatments when the son could have be taught at home to avoid excessive gambling. I would consider it a negligence on parents behalf as it was their first duty to keep an eye on their children.

What a weak argument for placing the blame on gambling. Gambling is obviously not the issue here but rather her pre-existing mental health issues. Gambling just made everything worse.

This reminds me very much of the reason why the Dutch government banned psychedelic mushrooms. A girl who supposedly had a mental illness did psychedelic mushrooms and jumped out of her window. The blame was placed on the magic mushrooms although this was a isolated incident in all the years of the entire population of Netherlands doing mushrooms without any problems.

Was the mental illness blamed? No. Can't outlaw mental illness.

Nice touch at the end, hinting at a future "final solution" for the "traitors". The upcoming Steven Spielberg movie is going to be insane. Igor's List.

This is bullshit. Why is a picture of a rock worth 1 million? The internet was a mistake.

- Ukraine has officially legalised #Bitcoin after President Zelensky signed the virtual assets bill into law.

- PUTIN: The West's actions have shown gold and FX reserves can just be stolen.

#Bitcoin is un-confiscatable.

Bitcoin is the true winner. Always.
