3081  Economy / Gambling / Re: What's the new big Cryptocasino to use for a UK player on: March 02, 2022, 07:41:00 PM
Well, since you are based in the United Kingdom, I would not really say any online gambling casinos are off limits for you. I would perhaps avoid chinese and russian ones, due to the current situation of the world, you might have your funds frozen/confiscated. Other than those recommendations I would probably just take a hard look at the casinos recommended and popular with Bitcointalk.

But be sure to read the terms and conditions before you put funds into any  online casino.
3082  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [⚠️WWIII OPSEC ALERT⚠️] DON'T LET YOUR BTC BECOME RUSSIAN WAR-MACHINE FUNDS! on: March 02, 2022, 06:34:54 PM
Some of you may have noticed the onslaught of Russian hacker groups like "lapsus$", who specialize in ransomware and digital theft. A lot of these hackers are targeting not only exchanges, but your phones, computers and of course, crypto wallets.

You have no evidence that this was done by a Russian hacker group or individual, let alone that the money was used to finance the Russian war machine. Besides, all this is dust compared to the costs of the war that Russia has, and it is measured in tens of millions of dollars a day.
The hack victim did his own research and said the funds were funneled through fixedfloat, a noKYC exchange own by russians. The fact that the hacker had to go out of his way for such an elaborate route to funnel funds is beyond suspicious. And even if the hacker is not russian, hes still a hacker who can and should be avoided.
Don't Keep your keys/passwords/seed phrases on any device which has/has had internet access. Store seed phrases on paper. That means never type it up, store it online, or take a photo of the card. If you disregarded this, and now you think that your wallet might possibly be compromised, then transfer your coins to a new wallet.

To take a photo of the seed is a very bad idea, especially with a smartphone that has backup to cloud automatically enabled (say Google Photos), or in case we lose such a phone or throw it in the trash, and someone manages to extract data from it.

Perhaps you should read my post more carefully next time. I said taking photos of the seed IS a bad idea. Thats what the red "don't" means. It means don't do that.

Use passwords that are randomly generated and 20+ characters long.

Why 20 characters long? A password of 10 random characters is quite sufficient, although the page where I did the check says that it should be at least 14 characters. Although for some very sensitive things passwords need to be as complex as possible, they may be able to withstand some brute force attacks in the future.

Source

14 is enough for now, but the technology of computers, especially quantum computers is rising exponentially. What may take 100 years to crack today may take only 1 day to crack tomorrow. Better safe than sorry. Why are you so hung up on trying to prove me wrong over 6 extra characters?

Is your avatar profile picture only for decoration and gathering internet brownie points? Not sure why you are so desperate to give russian or otherwise other hackers easy targets.

with all this nuclear talk...good thing i'm a fan of novels like Metro 2033 and games like Stalker.  Of course its a moot point, since your worst enemy will be clean water and starvation.  I think if we killed all wild game in my area (big as a couple states, with more wildlife) it would feed the population for....8 days.

8 days.  No nuclear war pls.

3085  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / [⚠️WWIII OPSEC ALERT⚠️] DON'T LET YOUR BTC BECOME RUSSIAN WAR-MACHINE FUNDS! on: March 02, 2022, 02:44:46 AM
In light of recent major events or as some may call it, the beginning of WW3:

I would like to remind everyone that from a historical point of view, your coins are in the most danger they may have ever been in.

Just look at some examples of what is happening:
Example 1: https://www.timesofisrael.com/israel-seizes-30-crypto-wallets-allegedly-used-to-fund-hamas/ >Exchange wallets got (probably rightfully) BTFO'd by the government.
Example 2: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5387930.0 > Bitcoiner who recently got hacked by Russian hackers and lost 2.4 BTC (Coinomi Wallet)
Example 3:https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5386543 > Another Bitcoiner who recently was a victim of a "Clipboard-Hijacking" malware/virus and lost his coins

Some of you may have noticed the onslaught of Russian hacker groups like "lapsus$", who specialize in ransomware and digital theft. A lot of these hackers are targeting not only exchanges, but your phones, computers and of course, crypto wallets.

DON'T LET YOUR COINS BECOME RUSSIAN WAR-MACHINE FUNDS!

I have gathered some very simple OPSEC tips of my own on how to keep your coins safe during these trying times:

Don't Keep coins on exchange wallets This goes double for chinese/formerly-chinese owned exchanges like Binance or Huobi. If China ever decides to join the war on the wrong side, your coins will belong to them in a heartbeat before you have time to withdraw them. Or your own government might decide you are a "persona non grata" and freeze your bank/exchange accounts, especially if you are a russian citizen or former russian citizen (remember japanese-american internment camps 1942).

Don't Connect your wallet to unknown DEFI platforms or give permissions to any altcoin smart contracts. Depending on the smart contract, this could be used to access your wallet and steal your coins. In fact, best to not hodl altcoins, especially those based on centralized/semi-centralized blockchains like Binance Smart Chain. Just like with crypto-exchanges, any centralization can be used against you.

Don't Use SMS for two-factor authentication. Use Google Authenticator.

Don't Brag about owning any crypto amounts to strangers, or better yet, anyone.

Do Use a hardware wallet or multisig wallet.

Do Triple check the withdrawal/deposit addresses. Clipboard-Hijacking can change your copy/paste address into the hacker's address

Do Check routinely for Viruses/Malware/Phishing and scam-websites. If you like to invest in ICO Projects or unknown coins/tokens then do your research
first. The scam accusation subforum on Bitcointalk is a good place to start.

Do Generate unique, random passwords for any and all accounts and change them often. Never use repeat passwords, especially for accounts with personally identifiable and sensitive information (e.g. Facebook, Gmail, AppleID, Twitter, banks/payments, crypto accounts). Use passwords that are randomly generated and 20+ characters long.

If there is anything you think that I should add to the list, let me know. Stay safe!
3086  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What websites you use for live scores? on: March 02, 2022, 01:22:34 AM
FlashScore is definitely the better one out of that list. I did not even know that they had a rebranding thing as I have only started using it a short while ago. FlashScore does have a bit of new window popup user experience problem, in my view. The constant new windows popping up whenever you want to look at the odds and stats gets annoying after a while. They definitely need to work on that.

Adding their own forum wouldnt hurt. Other than that, the statistics data gathering is great.

First strike capability
in this context means to survive the retaliation, I forget this could be misunderstood by those not in the know.

I thought that meant the guy who can deliver a nuke before the other guy had the chance to. What a confusing term.

Also, no way anyone is going to be able to intercept a highly maneuverable hypersonic missle going 9,500 km/h. So, nukes hitting their target are basically a 100% certainty.

Ukraine regime will be demilitarized and denazified. There will be Nuremberg 2.0 in Kiev for every nazi with blood on their hands. Ukraine neutrality will be ensured and just after that Russian expeditionary corps will be withdrawn.

Dude just be a man and admit you fell for the propaganda. What you are doing now is more shameful.

Ukrainian zombies really fell for the propaganda to such an extend that they kill completely innocent people! In Bologna, Italy, Ukrainian truckers attacked Belarusian drivers in a parking lot. One Belarusian was stabbed to death, the second was beaten to death.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j2ftQxCABf0

Instead of pointing at angry civilians who have fallen for the Putin propaganda and are now finding ways to let our their anger on innocents, you should look at what happened in the past. For example: Sergey Kusiuk , formerly part of the Ukrainian special forces who killed protestors during Maidan is wanted in Ukraine. He was last seen commanding OMON forces in Moscow in 2017. Putin needed to start a conflict and made a false excuse that Ukrainians are killing their own. This is how it all started. Based on lies.

And here is the kicker: Kusiuk ordered the destruction of documentation related to the events of his crimes. He was one of the spys sent to start all this.

3090  Economy / Gambling / Re: Would you support a collective boycott of all Russian gambling platforms? on: March 01, 2022, 03:47:31 PM
Anything that currently finances the Russian state, which can effectively be considered all businesses in Russia and operating out of Russia for the state or for Russian investors/Businessmen can be and should be considered Russian state funds. Remember, Russia is NOT a democracy. The people have no rights, no freedom and certainly no vote. If Russian state decides they need your money, then thats their money now.

So in short, yes I would boycott Russian gambling platforms as well.

It's a tricky one because you run the risk of alienating all Russian people and that potentially makes them think that Putin is the only option. At present it looks like the EU and USA are going for total economic warfare with all the recent moves, it might be the only way to dislodge the Russian President. Unfortunately the war in Ukraine is completely unjustified and they were never a threat to Russia, just an example of a possible successful democratic country showing the last two decades have made no progress under the oligarch driven and corrupt alternative.

Well, we cannot afford to hope on the Russian people. If by now they haven't started a revolt, it might never come. Especially since this is Ukraine we are talking about, their "brother nation". You would think people would be much angrier..

If anything, economic and other forms of isolation of the Russian people will be the fuel needed to spark that anger deeper, if a revolt is what you are hoping for.

Any former soviet nation that decides to join the western world is a threat to Russia, because it takes Russia's power away.

Some sites let us bet on politics, I remember some years ago I win an x5 when trump won as president of the United States and that was my last bet on politics, but now I was curious if there are sites to bet in the current war.

After searching I only find this site to bet in the current conflict:
https://futuur.com/q/149986/will-russia-take-kiev-by-force-by-the-end-of-2022

I don't feel is ethical to bet in a conflict like this and I will not, but I want to discuss the topic, what does the community think about this kind of bet.

Betting on something like this is super sick. I don't understand how people could bet on a war outcome where people die. Thats like betting on the date of a terminally ill child's departure from this world. That is not ok!

We have some lines that we should never cross, as human beings. If you feel ashamed or bad at the idea of doing or saying something, thats your instinct telling you its not ok. Trust your instinct on that matter.

3096  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Best casinos that gives dividends to token holders? on: February 28, 2022, 09:29:14 PM
As far as I know, and as far as my knowledge on stocks and regulations is concerned, giving away dividends to token holders would be considered a security. So the online casino would have to register with the SEC in order to be allowed to offer something like that. And not only do they have to register with the SEC, there is a cornucopia of massive regulatory laws that would need to be considered. Its a lot of work, and to be honest, it probably would get rejected in the end due to not fullfilling certain requirements.

It would be easier to register a security for an IPO.
That was an interesting write up there, thanks for letting us know how these types of casinos work. Never seen anyone in the past that shares this kind of info, now I know why not all crypto casinos are like that where they offer a token and can give dividends but usually they are just operating normally although most of them are still regulated.

Lately there are casinos that works like betfurry, it is possible to pass the complicated process if the gambling company is really serious about their business. At the end of your sentence, you said something about IPO but are that still related to gambling ? I have heard IPO but mostly they are just crypto investments.

Thank you for the compliment.

That knowledge is just something that I make use of when advising diverse CEO's of companies that want to include dividends or anything else which hits the howey test criteria for a security. Usually my consults were in registering an STO (Security Token Offering).

Yes, there are casino stocks you can invest in.

And the process for STO and IPO is basically the same. The only difference is an IPO (Initial Product Offering) is the "classical security". If you want to do a STO then you could use a lawyer who knows his stuff on securities and another who understands crypto regulation laws in different countries. That would be a perfect combination for following you through the process of registration and regulation but it is costly. Most avoid it.

3098  Economy / Gambling / Re: sportsbet.io lowers my odds !!!!! on: February 28, 2022, 03:10:02 PM
Hi everyone,

Lately I found out that sportsbet.io lowers my odds. I have compared with 2 browsers, one connected with my account and the other one not. I have seen nearly a 2% difference on odds' values
ex on Leeds vs MU:
https://freeimage.host/i/capture.1T4ZEG

Every market I have checked, it is the same.

I have contacted the support by chat a first time and I had the following answer:

"Odds are subject to change, and can also change based on individual accounts activity, betting behaviour and history. "
"The odds you see are based on your accounts previous betting activity."
" Upon review, we can assure that our betting limits depend on multiple factors such as sport, league, market, account and time of bet placement. We have different limits for different leagues, and we regularly review our business and make decisions around our total exposure which takes into account sports, competitions, events, markets. "

I wanted to have further explanations just like how long will I have this limitation or What is the criteria or the specific betting activity that has lead to this situation, but the chat was already closed. So I contacted the chat again, a support guy asked me for a screenshot which I have provided. Then I received this answer from support:

"Thank you for your patience. As explained before, Bet Limits are set from account to account based on your betting activity. Kindly note that as per terms and conditions, we reserve the right to have limits set depending on the account. Also, I would like to inform you that we have already explained this to you in another opportunity, if you keep insisting on this matter, you will have your chat privileges revoked."

Is it me or do I feel like the roles are reversed ?!!!!!

My only explanation is that I bet a lot this month with a lot of success and to stop all that, they decide to lower my odds. It is not a market/event/competition issue. I have tried many of them and it's the same.

Has anyone been in the same situation?

So as far as I understand it, the whole issue has been explained to you, however you deem it necessary to keep pushing the matter even further? To me, it sounds like you just did not do your research on the online gambling casino and obviously, you left out any reading of the terms of service. Sounds to me like this might just be your own fault for being uninformed.

I would probably leave the matter as a teaching moment instead of bothering support again.

3100  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: why are there so many coins and the reason why some developers failed on: February 27, 2022, 07:24:22 PM
I believe developers saw the the vision of Bitcoin and try to explore from the vision  by introducing and making their own coin but they lost focus because they only have one goal in mind which is making money, forgetting the most vital ingredients in developing an asset. They forget that they are certain steps and strategies to undergo before accomplishing a good assets or goal.

Some of the reasons why I think some developers fail is because:

1. Lack of funding both the starting aspect and the launching aspect (lack of money to continue)
2. Failure in out righting frauds
3. Failure to evolve especially when the coin initially start bomming

Most developers have only one vision which is making money that is why many coins doesn't grow and they failed because they didn't see the vision ahead.

I have worked with a lot of projects and I can tell you downright the first and foremost reason for failure is when a project brings something that obviously does not need nor will ever need blockchain out into the world, and then the project team expects investors to flood in by the millions for their hyped up, superficial bullcrap development.

Thats the sad truth and nobody ever wants to hear it. Especially if they spend months and months on developing it. CEOs want to get into the blockchain/crypto hype but have nothing of interest for people in the cryptosphere. Roll Eyes
