Can you post a traceroute when you are connected through VPN? I would like to see the difference between your first trace and the second. Thanks.

Will do tomorrow.

Sorry for lack of details. What all details are necessary? As I have mentioned earlier, I have tried with another ISP.
The details are necessary for anyone to really help you. The only people who will not ask for details are the scammers who will need the minimum information required to plant a trojan/exploit on your computer, especially if you seem to have just one machine loaded with coins.

Okay. Thanks for telling! But is it easy to plant malware with "minimum" information? What is considered as "minimum" information?

The first detail I always ask: do you know what you doing? Like the basics of networking: local vs. globally-routable IP?

As I have mentioned earlier, my knowledge in this is very limited. I looked more about locally and globally-routable IP. I think I understood basics/theories.

My experience shows that it is the best to assume that somebody having weird problems simply has very minimal understanding of networking and pretends to be knowledgeable for reasons related to the social status.

I understand what you are telling. I have done it myself one or two times.

On another forum I've watched someone posting about "trying different ISPs," with no success. Finally somebody posted who knows the particular city. It turned out that the "different ISPs" were just a different resellers for the same ISP, just selling in different languages and with different marketing/payment plans.

Nope. I used different ISP not modified same ISP. Anyway, thanks!
3122  Other / Meta / Re: Report Comment Field on: April 12, 2015, 07:08:24 PM
I was able to enter just around 1050 characters. May be I did something wrong on my end?

(Of course I didn't submit it. Wink)

I don't think there is any limit. This box is just like reply box, no limit. I was able to enter 9,951 characters and I didn't get any errors when I submitted. I mentioned the report is for testing and to mark it bad(they will do it even if I didn't mention). Hope they won't have a problem because of my action.
3123  Other / Meta / Re: Report Comment Field on: April 12, 2015, 06:56:04 PM
=snip=

Also, what if half the number of my reports are "BAD", will the MODs start disregarding my future reports?

They won't disregard your future reports but if bad reports marked by a mod is very high, my guess is that he/she might give lower priority to your reports mainly in the section he/she is moderating. However, there hasn't been any issue or any talkings about this AFAIK.
3124  Other / Meta / Re: An exact/estimate reason why Bitcointalk doesn't load without VPN for me? on: April 12, 2015, 06:55:36 PM
How can anyone help you without you posting the very detailed information about your setup? You'll probably also need at least temporary access to another computer and/or another ISP.

Sorry for lack of details. What all details are necessary? As I have mentioned earlier, I have tried with another ISP.

Though it's not much frequent but i have experienced it many times over some months. And yeah it's specific to this forum only, when i tracert'ed it , it went Timed out for some seconds and then back on , though my Internet connection is working fine ATM . But it never turned out to be much issue , after max of 1-5 refresh's it's back on track . But sometimes i have to clear cache to get it running Undecided

So is it because of some problem in India? It will be helpful if any Indians other than who posted here can tell whether they are experiencing any problems. Thank you!
3125  Other / Meta / Re: "THE LIST" on: April 12, 2015, 06:46:01 PM

Anyways, this post was about ignoring newbies and I need to stick to that only. I hope that newbie jail is implemented soon as they not only spam the forum but also misuse the trust rating.

Newbie Jail won't come back. It is useless and make "real" contributors to turn away from forum. Spammers will spam. AFAIK you only need to wait some hours to get out of the Jail and there won't be any limit thereafter. But the current time-limit is prettier than Newbie Jail as time-limit is there. It will help to decrease spam in a long run but Newbie Jail will only decrease spam at first, after they are out, they are free to make as many posts as they want without any time limit.

Well if you really want to filter the crap apart from the valuable ones, you really need to do some heavy work to achieve positive results. Campaign managers do a lot of work, but filtering and setting some standards before accepting users is a good way for them to save money, too. so why not add an extra effort in managing the said campaigns? Setting limits to the number of users who are eligible to join the campaign is just one way of reducing the number of crappy posts in this forum. If this is done by campaign managers, we could still see the valuable topics that should be discussed regarding bitcoins.

Most of them won't. Read CIYAM's post. In simple sentence, more posts = more advertisement.

Crap posts will be deleted, anyway and they don't want to pay for it but they may get some view before the crap gets deleted.
3126  Other / Meta / Re: A Question about setting a Secret Question on: April 12, 2015, 05:51:00 PM
I guess there isn't any limit. I tried 5-6 times but didn't find get any time limit or warning.

Resetting your secret question:

• If you don't want to set secret question, make the secret question field blank in sertings, type your password and click update.
• To change your secret question, change question in secret question field & type answer and click update.
3127  Other / New forum software / Re: New rank? on: April 12, 2015, 05:39:24 PM
After a while they will become more common though and eventually everyone who is active will likely become Legendary so new ranks should be added over time.

The solution to this is adjust the current rankings, not create new ones.

I think by "adjusting", you meant to increase activity for ranks. I don't think this is better than adding new rank and also this look unjust towards new members to me.
3128  Other / Meta / Re: An exact/estimate reason why Bitcointalk doesn't load without VPN for me? on: April 12, 2015, 05:26:14 PM
This trace reads like misconfigured equipment. I see about 6 seconds in the 4th hop then the final is reached in around 1 second. My best guess is this is a misconfigured firewall doing reverse DNS on every packet and letting them through only after RDNS failure. Notice that the packets without explicit reverse DNS address take several seconds whereas the packets with a set reverse address only take 1 or 2 seconds. This used to be a known bug with Microsoft Proxy/ISA/Forefront Server.

There's no physical reason for this type of ISP latency on Earth, it would only make sense for some space communication.

Thank you for telling! I am using Linux Lubuntu. Is there a way to fix this if this is misconfiguration?
3129  Other / Politics & Society / Re: NO Miracles in Koran on: April 12, 2015, 05:03:49 PM
Still because of Islam.

Not FUD, its facts.

Give me the rule where Islam tells to imprison people for drinking alcohol and where Islam tells to slaughter if women wear normal clothing. BTW, what is "normal cloth"? IMHO a normal cloth is a cloth which is used widely by people in that place. All types related to that cloth can be considered normal. For example, in UK(or countries which have similar culture), a woman wearing bikini dress in street may be a normal cloth but in Arabian countries or even in India, it may not be considered as a normal cloth.

To me the dress code UAE states in law is normal but, assuming you are in UK(or countries which have similar culture), this dress code may not be normal,

“Dress code

Women should dress modestly when in *public areas like shopping malls*. Clothes should cover the tops of the arms and legs, and underwear should not be visible. Swimming attire should be worn *only on beaches or at swimming pools*.”

Also some of the clothing are long lasted tradition. For example, "Hijab" which is often misinterpreted:

Quote
Head cover for the Jewish woman is encouraged by the Rabbis and religious leaders. Religious Jewish women still cover their heads most of the time and especially in the synagogues, at weddings and religious festivities. This Jewish tradition is a cultural not a religious one. Hijab was observed by the women of the civilizations that preceded the Jews and was passed down to the Jewish culture.

Some Christian women cover their heads in many religious occasions while the nuns cover their heads all the time. The tradition of covering the head was practiced thousands of years before Islam came.

The traditional Arabs, of all religions, Jews, Christians and Muslims used to wear 'hijab' not because of Islam, but because of tradition. In Saudi Arabia for example, all men cover their heads, not because of Islam but because of tradition.

North Africa is known for its Tribe (Tuareg) that have the Muslim men wearing 'hijab' instead of women. Here the tradition has the 'hijab' in reverse. If wearing 'hijab' is the sign of Muslim woman, Mother Teresa would have been the first woman to be counted.

Here is some of the verses from Qur'an:

7:26 - “O children of Adam, We have brought down to you garments to cover your private parts, as well as for adornment, yet the garment of reverence is the best. These are some of God's signs, perhaps they will remember.”

24:31 - “And tell the believing women to lower their gaze and to guard their private parts and not to show their adornments except that of it which normally shows. They shall cover their cleavage with their ‘khimar’. They shall not show their adornments except in the presence of their husbands, their fathers, the fathers of their husbands, their sons, the sons of their husbands, their brothers, the sons of their brothers, the sons of their sisters, other women, their slaves, the male attendants who have no sexual desire and the children who are yet to attain awareness of women’s nakedness. They shall not strike their feet so as to reveal details of their hidden ornaments. You shall repent to God all you believers, so that you may succeed.”

33:59 - “O prophet, tell your wives, your daughters and the wives of the believers that they shall lengthen their garments. This is better so that they will be recognized and not for being molested. God is Forgiver, Merciful.”

24:60 - “The elderly women who no longer anticipate marriage commit no error by relaxing their dress code, provided they do not flaunt their adornments, but to abstain from doing so would be better for them. God is Hearer, Knowledgeable.”

FYI: IIRC there are 4 dress codes for a Muslim man and woman.

3131  Other / Meta / Re: An exact/estimate reason why Bitcointalk doesn't load without VPN for me? on: April 12, 2015, 04:20:02 PM
Very hard to know if you don't know why you are getting such poor times.

Okay. Most of the times, it only happens when I connect to this forum. That's why, I was curious to know the reason.

I live in China (sorry - guess you didn't realise that) so I am all too familiar with extremely restricted and slow internet.

No problem. Restricted and slow internet are seen widely in villages in India and I assume it is same in villages in other parts of the world[1] but mine isn't slow always, I get up to 300 kbps[2], however, restrictions are high.

[1] However, there are villages without enough electricity and technologies where we can not see internet and even if there is, we can only see in certain places.
[2] It is possible 300 kbps is fast for me as I haven't experienced/used a faster connection.

I will keep this thread open.
3132  Other / Meta / Re: An exact/estimate reason why Bitcointalk doesn't load without VPN for me? on: April 12, 2015, 03:58:45 PM
Those times are very slow (you'd feel right at home in China) so I am not surprised if you are getting timeouts.

I understand but why do it last for hours? Even though if I get some timeouts, it shouldn't last for hours, right?

What do you mean by "you'd feel right at home in China"? Does it mean something else than what it looks? I live in India, btw.

3134  Other / Meta / Re: Inbox Size Limit? on: April 12, 2015, 03:33:05 PM
No. I have about 16,000 PMs in my inbox.

And I thought my inbox needed cleaning.

How about add feature delete all at once ?
Just make sure that most PM are less important before getting deleted  Smiley

It is there. In Message Preferences, you can see "Prune Messages". Direct link: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=pm;sa=prune
3135  Other / Meta / Re: Few seconds ago, I reloaded to get this: on: April 12, 2015, 03:27:06 PM
It is because of slow internet. I get this some times. When the forum takes longer time to load, it will show especially if you click "Stop loading".
3136  Other / New forum software / Re: New rank? on: April 12, 2015, 03:15:45 PM
Can I suggest an opposite thing (related with the ranks). Why not decrease the activity when an user been banned (for spam reason) this should improve the quality of all the posts and I am sure the users will put more attention in what they write here (in the forum). That was just my personal opinion and I don't think it is necessary to add a new rank, but I am still supporting the color for each rank.

It should be good idea. What if the ban was for PM spam? Does this still apply or only for "substantial posts"?

P.S. Admins should tell about this in the ban notice or else, we will have to see many threads in Meta.

I don't think this is a good idea. Activity would only really matter much to signature advertisers and from what I gather some sort of signature bans that can be dished out to individually users as a punishment were being looked into by BadBear and theymos.

Disabling signature will do the work too.

Most people nowadays are banned for sig spam, so decreasing their activity may also make their rank go down, not all time, but will and also, this increases the time for their promotion. So I think this is a good idea but may not be good as disabling signature.
3137  Other / Meta / Re: Inbox Size Limit? on: April 12, 2015, 03:08:23 PM
I have near to 100 pages of PMs and I think other members will have more than this. I would like to download all PMs in a zip file and probably, clean it.

No. I have about 16,000 PMs in my inbox.

And I thought my inbox needed cleaning.

I move important PMs to new folder and remove it from inbox. After doing it, PMs in inbox decreased and now it is easy to view important and other PMs. You may want to do this.
3138  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How to move a wallet from blockchain.info? on: April 12, 2015, 03:01:35 PM
Try electrum  it doesn't require you to download the whole blockchain to spend the bitcoin. JUst get the public key from blockchain.info and import it on the electrum wallet.

Easy first you should have another wallet can be on web or device but must accepting importing private keys ,
So you can go to setting page in blockchain.info and look for exporting private keys then exporting them on a json ,,,,
or whatever that your new wallet support , then go to the new wallet look for importing keys , import them and
we are done ! . Question : Why should move a wallet instead of transferring balances direct ? cause of Fees ?

Kind Of Respect ,
Bitcoin Boy.

He is talking about CLAMs not Bitcoins.

This issue is solved.

EDIT: I have solved this issue. For anyone with future reference I opened up bitcoin-qt. I then went to the console. From there I typed in importprivkey "privkey". I then waited a couple of minutes and the wallet.dat showed up. I thought I was going to have to wait for the whole blockchain to download. Sorry to everyone who may have wasted their time.

@OP: Please lock this thread to avoid spam. Thank you!
3139  Other / Meta / Re: Discussion/Questions regarding 'Auctions' child-board! on: April 12, 2015, 10:41:41 AM
If it's moved out of there then it's no longer an auction and any bids would probably just become invalid, but some people move them from there to Digital Goods or whatever once they see there's no interest giving it's a less popular sub.

Yes. That's what I did. If the post is moved but OP isn't edited, it will be moved back to Auctions by a mod. Also, users can edit/delete their post if it is moved which is not good as editing/deleting is disabled in Auvtions.

Here is the questions I need to get an answer:

Shouldn't "move topic" be disable in Auctions?

Can we know whether a user moved a topic if he didn't make a notification post and edited it if the edit was before 10 minutes?

what will happen if a self-moderated thread is moved from Digital Goods to Auctions? Will OP get an error or will self-moderation feature be disabled for OP?

Does SMF support automatic and/or manual disabling of self-moderation in these cases or if a global mod and/or admin want to?
3140  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Do you like to see an Avatar Campaign? [POLL] on: April 12, 2015, 10:38:23 AM
Why would you need one? You can see other's that have them. Would you find them annoying if multiple people have the same avatar (if you can envisage)?

Multiple having same avatars is annoying to me. If enrollee's can put like Marco does, it will be okay.

However, you might have to hire a part time designer for editing enrollee's image. Wink
