Thank god the "bit" part was removed from Monero near the launch. I think Monero has the best name out of all the currencies both crypto and government based, and that extra "bit" part was just eww.
This just had to be quoted. That nick, that comment, made my day. Truly though, Monero is absolutely the best name, even better than bitcoin. No shit, no coin, just money. Bitcoin was a fine name, because there were not 100 other coins (or even one) with similar names it was copying. coming soon: fonero, lonero, jonero, ponero..... Not quite what you were thinking, but only two letters different than monero: https://moneta.cash/Looks like Zerovert recycled. I had a discussion on reddit with one of the devs (Poramin) about it (he claims the name is in no way influenced by monero): http://www.reddit.com/r/vertcoin/comments/2xcimf/bushidos_new_crypto_monetas_what_do_you_think/coyyobo

Question on domob's python botting framework: http://forum.huntercoin.org/index.php/topic,139.msg3477.html#msg3477So, I just created my first SimpleGather bot, and he seems to be working OK. I just edited the RPC settings, the name, and made it so only one bot is created, and he's off to gather some coins (only 10 at a time cause I forgot to edit that :/ ). Anyway, my question is: Is there any way to convert the simple gather bot to a simple runner bot if I happen to be around the computer when the disaster happens? Is this possible using this framework? Edit: Also, is there a way to tell gather bot to go sit in the spawn area to recover the 200 HUC it cost to create him? Thanks Modify message « Last Edit: Today at 04:29:15 PM by jwinterm » Edit: I guess to answer the edit portion, I can just wait until bot is in/close to spawn region then kill python script and manually move/hold him in spawn area.

Darkcoin rebrand their name When Boobsberry change?
not for sure, evan just spoke about that they are thinking of. BBR's main problem is not the name - more the overcoming silence in this thread and no further infos about. to be honest, I like BBR - and I like to hear what will happening in the future. Or is there no future?integration into superNET was planed long time ago, but looking in that thread doesn't show me much about the appearance of BBR. I'm not mining anymore, but still hold some BBR. The long periods of silence with no releases makes me wonder what is cryptozoidberg collecting 1% of all blocks for? Not that it's a lot of money in terms of BTC, but is any work being done on the project to warrant 1% of all coins generated? I was never a fan of this donation/payment model, but I think especially lately it just looks like someone sweeping up loose change just for being (benevolent?) dictator for life.

any idea what's wrong? some lib to install?
nobody can help with this?? its a fresh 64bit debian jessie install and it should compile alright - jessie was in RC1 and debian is quite common OS so I think it is not just me that needs this figured out. btw, i also noticed that i needed to install libboost-all-dev to get boost working (not just libboost-dev) - it was not exactly clear from the build instructions. it would be good to isolate the package that needs to be installed because this -all package links to too many packages that are not needed. I think you need to have libunbound and liblmdb installed (I've only built database version on Windows, where the building of those two is pretty automated). Also, make sure you are not using boost 1.54, as it doesn't work, you need 1.53 or 1.55. Your best bet is probably to ask for help in #monero-dev or #monero on freenode IRC. tewinget is usually helpful with build issues on database version. You might also try to PM GingerAle https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=399904, as I'm pretty sure he's got it built on Ubuntu...

Maybe if darkcoin actually goes through with the name change to dash, dashcoin will get some residual exposure...

no activity here let's play some betting guys, on May 2, Mayweather vs Pacquiao boxing match i have 100M dsh for mayweather...wanna bet? who will escrow? The bot in #dashcoin on freenode does betting, just gotta ask the bot owner to setup a bookie event for it.

hi
how to upgrade my wallet from Version 0.8.8.1 to Version 0.8.8.6 ??
now, when I open 0.8.8.6 simplewallet, its auto closed....
There's a bug with the 0.8.8.6 wallet converter that's fixed in 0.8.8.7 (not tagged yet) - are you able to compile the latest version from Github? Alternatively, you can use 0.8.8.6 and restore from your mnemonic seed, or failing that I can see if I can give you a more recent build of simplewallet for your OS. bitmonero wallet v0.8.8.6-releaseSpecify wallet file name (e.g., wallet.bin). If the wallet doesn't exist, it wil l be created. Wallet file name: mro password: ***** Error: failed to load wallet: failed to read file "mro" wallet.bin cant working, what can I do ? my system is win 2k11 You quoted the solution from fluffypony in your response. You can't use 0.8.8.6 to update old wallets. Look what version you're using. - You can build from source following the instructions here: https://github.com/monero-project/bitmonero
- Or you can restore from your mnemonic seed if you have one.
- Or you can ask fluffypony to send you a newer 0.8.8.7 version build of simplewallet.
Also, not sure what win 2k11 is...

myrbot in ##myriadcoin on freenode IRC can now play dice The basic command to play is: !dice <amount> [multiplier] By default the multiplier is 2, you'll win the amount you bet, but you can also use a multiplier of 5 or 10, where you will win more but with lower odds of winning. Currently the maximum bet is 100 MYR, but I plan to increase it soon to be a proportion of myrbot's balance. House edge is currently set at 1%.

Is it impossible to destruct in the spawn area? And if you get killed in the spawn area you don't drop any coins?
Edit: Also, when you destruct you can kill other players/generals under your control?

I've been walking around the map with a single hunter/general for the last day or so, managing to collect about 30 coins or so, and I have a few questions about game mechanics that I'm unsure about:
1) In order to bank coins, I need to return to the spawn area and stay for a single turn? This won't result in my hunter/general's destruction?
2) If I stay in the spawn area for 30 turns, my hunter/general dies, right? Do I get a refund on the 200 HUC creation cost if I die in this manner?
3) The only way to die besides disasters and staying in spawn area for too long is to be killed by another exploding hunter/general, right? This means that it's generally uneconomical to kill someone carrying less than 200 HUC...?
4) Is there still a distinction between hunters and generals? I thought you used to get one general and two hunters for a single buy-in, but now you only get one player controlled character, so does this just mean every player on the map is a general? Or a hunter?

Yea, seems that coolmining node is not working anymore. I will do at least a minor update in the next few days so that it uses moneroclub by default (and add fluffypony's awesome new logo).

Just spawned my first hunter To snailbrain or whoever is maintaining huntercoin.org, these instructions seem a bit dated: http://huntercoin.org/information/how-to-mine/human/There don't appear to be hearts anymore, and it seems like 200 HUC buys you a single player, not a general and some buddies. Also, yellow team seems to dominating Edit: I guess actually red team after checking huntercoin.info.

All synced up, didn't have to redownload anything, and my original wallet.dat worked when I just used 7zip to unzip instead of windows built in thingamajig. Thanks for the help Edit: is there any disaster alert webpage or anything, so I can know when it's a good time to buy a general?

... hi mate.. something is not right, it will not convert unless it's converting an old chain... are you certain you unzipped the downloaded chain into that directory? if you delete all your old chain from that directory is it all recreated and starts downloading from scratch?
Yea, I deleted everything before unzipping the 7+GB zip file from chain download into that folder. The only thing I left behind was my old wallet.dat. I guess later tonight I'll try deleting everything, moving wallet.dat out, and then unzipping chain zip again and see if it works better with fresh wallet.dat.

So, I'm using win7 x64, and I just downloaded the latest binaries for windows and the latest chain snapshot. I unzipped chain into data folder, and then launched huntercoin-qt. I see the icon in my tray, and huntercoin-qt.exe shows up in my task manager (using 0% cpu and about 316 MB of memory), but the program window never actually opens. I let it go for like an hour and then killed it from task manager, and the log file says: huntercoin version 1.2.00 Default data directory C:\Users\johno\AppData\Roaming\Huntercoin Bound to port 8398 Setup huntercoin genesis block 00000000db7eb7a9e1a06cf995363dcdc4c28e8ae04827a961942657db9a1631 Loading addresses... dbenv.open strLogDir=d:\wallets\huntercoin\data/database strErrorFile=d:\wallets\huntercoin\data/db.log Loaded 999 addresses addresses 592ms Loading block index... Updating blkindex.dat data format... Reading in old tx entries... Writing everything back... Rewriting blkindex.dat... And I just reopened it and it's still doing the same thing for last half hour or so (tray icon shows up and task manager lists huntercoin-qt, but no window ever opens). Any suggestions? yep, if you are using an old chain (downloaded a long time ago), it will need converting to the new format... this process can take a very long time (was for performance and pruning benefits, even though it takes a very long time for conversion). either wait, download from scratch, or download the chain from http://chain.huntercoin.orghope this helps.. jsut re-read.. you must not have unzipped the chain into the correct data folder.. the downloaded chain won't convert (already done) I just downloaded the chain from http://chain.huntercoin.org and the v1.2 binaries from forum.huntercoin.org last night. I specify the data dir when I launch huntercoin-qt (d:\wallets\huntercoin\data). It's storing the log files there and it also created the database folder there; it seems to use the alternate data directory ok...it's just never launching. I've been waiting several hours now. Any estimate on how long it might take?
