Let's say I regularly send BTC back and forth between wallet #1 and wallet #2. I'm receiving BTC and I don't want the sender to link me to wallet #1 and its transaction history. Is my privacy increased at all by having him send to wallet #2 instead of wallet #1 or will I be linked to wallet #1 for sure no matter which wallet he sends to?
A wallet may have several addresses. Maybe you mean address instead of wallet? If you do, and if you send coins back and forth, address/wallet 1 will always be linked to 2 and vice versa. That's why you should always generate a new address for each payment!

Awesome indeed, but not sure if they're from the owner... The pictures come from the old Gridseed website and from a chinese forum One of those pictures is from a guy who said he had, if I'm not mistaken, 800 5 chip's...

When's the new campaign? Have you thought how you will include them? Will it be mandatory or an additional rate for those that change them to a bit-x avatar?
New campaign will be launched within a few weeks with the highest rates, just like the old days.
They would be included like mine (so users can still set their own main avatar portion). Not sure if it would be mandatory, will think about it. Oh, I thought changes would be here next week I guess I'll be around anyways

Well, no luck trying some random shots, neither compiling anything to bruteforce this... I'll quit for now and I bet when I come here later today there will be no more funds, lol

First one already done and I can't even compile any cracker, lol...

I also tried it, but couldn't compile it in the end... Trying to compile, I'll see what I can come up with... Errors out with this: configure.ac:89: warning: macro 'AM_PATH_GLIB_2_0' not found in library

Sorry for your loss, and thanks for the heads up. Their bitcointalk account hasn't been logged in since Jan 13 (last post on Dec 24). I think they are no longer using it. Didn't check that. Quite unfortunate. if this is true, it must be recent, because i know for sure, that they delivered many miners back then(they also responded to my email very quickly)
maybe they started the scamming fest now, because no one is buying from them any more miners
it is true i can prove beyond doubt. i have tried to contact them by sending mails. they answered them in the beginning and their argument was that the delivery remain static because of the chinese new year. Ok the chinese new year is over ... and the communication between minereu.com and me too! if something out of ordinary happened then please provide the customer with information about the delay. Very odd... Well, since contacting them isn't working, you could try contacting this blog http://cryptomining-blog.com/contact-us/, I remember that back in the days they reviewed many Scrypt ASIC's, and they were all bought there or even offered by MinerEU. You can try and ask for phone contacts or something like that, maybe you can reach them in a easier way (and raise awareness about your problem too) Good luck

Oh man, I wouldn't buy cube. It makes me confuse..., but, thanks for sharing... Not really for me either, although I find it quite a funny hobbie Just remembered about these guys too... https://www.pi-supply.com/ I think I haven't posted them around. I haven't ordered from them either (a bit expensive). There's also https://www.modmypi.com/, I see nobody posted them yet. They're fast handling orders. Ordered from them several times, everything ok!

I'm having trouble in logging. Haven't logged in since you guys changed your looks, did you delete account data?
Nope, Before you could import your old balance and lvl into a new account. Admin just disabled it so you need to contact support for importing. Okay, I'll send them an email to see what can be done. Thank you!

Blazr, thank you for this thread. Very useful and informative. I've been saying some of these things to friends on casual talks about securing Bitcoins. I realized some of these things early on when I created my first (and last) paper wallet, back when I was learning about Bitcoin. Everyone talks about paper wallets as if they're the number one protection method, the most secure one. It does seem to be a myth between Bitcoin users, especially new users... But I hope threads like these start making people think a bit more and maybe opt for better ways to protect their funds

I guess there is no need for a Foundation or a Body. There should just be an address (or addresses) for tipping core devs. Many would contribute a bit (myself included) and people with vested interest or big holdings in Bitcoin would do it too, as it is to their best interest.
The rest is up to miners and nodes. Core devs release updates, and the users decide.
I don't know if I agree with this. In order to attract and keep talent you need to insure there is a least a minimum amount of job security and vested interest in maintaining an open source repository. I don't know if our ecosystem is large and diverse enough to have enough competing and a diversity of private companies funding core development at this stage. What you are suggesting is essentially the model that the libbitcoin/unsystem implementation is following and while I fully support such endeavor, one has to be honest that it still needs a lot of work and development to mature and the lack in funding and organization is hurting this from being accomplished. Tips alone don't seem to be enough. That is correct. It might be insufficient, and it's definitely not very professional. But after what's been happening with the Foundation, I don't think there is really a better choice... I just think that the private keys to the funds should be completely in charge of the devs, and they should either look for funding by themselves (or with the help of someone who helps them getting funds) or simply say to the community that developing Bitcoin Core for free doesn't feed their kids. Not entirely sure how we can accomplish this effectively in ways other that those I referred. The thing is, what if the new foundation, or the Body makes the same mistakes? What if they start off good, but throughout time people with malicious intents join their ranks? Summing it all, how do we know we're not going the same way we came from? I know that there isn't reward without a bit of risk, but I don't really think we can afford more risks... Sorry for the small rant. Just my opinion

Very interesting topic, it really got me thinking. I voted no. I don't have many Bitcoins to start with and I also don't feel there is a need to teach someone how to spend my funds if something happens to me, just yet. I'll most probably teach my family how to spend them...
Better start thinking of ways to make the funds spendable in case of problems...

Came here from another thread... Damn, if you don't have 100% trust in yourself to keep Bitcoins, that's pretty risky, in my opinion. Don't take me wrong, but if one can't store his own Bitcoins, he loses something that is, in my opinion, one of the biggest advantages of Bitcoin when we compare it to fiat: you can safely store the funds yourself without the fear of getting robbed, if you know how to do it.
If someone hasn't got the will to search for methods to protect his funds, and to find time to implement these methods... Maybe he should just have fiat.
