2221  Economy / Gambling / Re: NEW Android Bitcoin BlackJack App - WIN BITCOINS on: August 26, 2015, 08:11:39 PM
This should be on the Gambling section. You'll have better luck there and this isn't really Bitcoin discussion Smiley

I know these guys have to have some revenue to have their service running... But 8% is a bit too steep. Anyways, always good when there are new BTM's.
2223  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Bounty for CPFP Enabled Wallet on: August 26, 2015, 03:43:30 PM
We included CPFP in breadwallet a few months back (two months before the bounty was created) for when the user spends unconfirmed non-change inputs. Happy to let the bounty go to Andreas though. Andreas and co. are doing good work.

https://github.com/voisine/breadwallet/blob/v0.5.1/BreadWallet/BRWallet.m#L382

Wasn't aware that one of my favorite wallets already had it Smiley Nice job. It will probably come in handy some day Grin
2224  Other / Off-topic / Re: if you entered your wallet and you found 50BTC what you will do ? on: August 26, 2015, 03:25:01 PM
I'd definitely move the coins to a safer, offline address and post about it here, on reddit, vout and phez and try to find the owner. As said before, it's not a good practice to just send the coins back.
2225  Economy / Services / Re: [BIT-X.com] OPEN SPOTS Earn Bitcoins by Posting | Signature Campaign on: August 26, 2015, 12:17:48 AM
Payments should have gone through, PMs may not have.

mine is still missed, should be 0.12, there is still the old 0.13 in my balance and nothing else

Still waiting on mine too Smiley
2226  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The tide is turning: Which one is the alt coin now? on: August 25, 2015, 08:44:47 PM
This is not the "majority"... The majority is seen by the number of blocks mined supporting certain BIP. As for reconsideration if XT is an altcoin or not... I also agree it should be reconsidered.
2227  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Consensus = 75%? on: August 25, 2015, 06:38:28 PM
I'd say 90%. It's a better guarantee that everyone is happy and on the same boat, or at least accepts the fork.
2228  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS] Get cheap Apple products! on: August 25, 2015, 06:34:45 PM
Any iPhone 6 64GB Space Gray? What about warranty? Is the proof of purchase from an Apple Store?

Please check your PM for our price list. 2 years warranty. Invoice will be attached with the product as proof, product are from official Apple source.

Thanks for your PM

prices are definitely competitive, will let you know my decision in a bit Smiley

I agree with jdebunt, prices are indeed very interesting, but I think I'll wait for feedback on the seller.

Appreciate your response as well. Which kind of feedback you expect from us? We have replied to all questions. If there is any other please let me know. Have a nice evening.

Feedback from buyers. Nothing against you, but with so many scams surrounding Apple devices I prefer to wait and see if any reputable member will give you positive feedback. Hope you understand, it's pretty odd when prices are this good.

2231  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Tutorial: Compiling Armory and getting it onto an offline computer on: August 25, 2015, 02:50:28 PM
I use a webcam in my Raspberry setup to send transactions to the online computer. For your offline linux machine, I'd recommend qtQR, easy to use and powerful. I've tried the audio interface previously with another Bitcoin client, but I failed to set it up and eventually gave up on the idea.

I like the idea of that sort of thing, but I wonder how it could be perceived by others.

All types of visitors to your household (friends and ostensible friends alike) could interpret the sophisticated physical setup to mean "Is it possible he/she might have large stacks of BTC?". Keeping the hardware somewhere secure (and hence out of sight) is probably not so OTT a measure also, but it's not going to be possible to keep it thoroughly secret.

And I suppose the absolute worst case scenario is that you don't actually have that many bitcoins anyway, say holding onto 100,000 uBTC on the off chance that worldwide adoption takes off. Getting targeted then could be a little hairy, depending on how "worst case" your luck is.

Not wishing this on anyone! But I thought I'd throw it out there, perhaps there's a better way to keep the hardware unseen/unrecognised. Could your setup convincingly be construed as a pair of video calling devices in the same house? Without internet connections?

It can be perceived by others if you're using the system in front of others, which I don't. And the awareness of Bitcoin is really low here, if someone, somehow intercepted all the physical parts needed to run my system they probably wouldn't know how to use it, and if they did, they would need my password to do so (system + Armory password)

And things are indeed hidden out of sight for visitors and the people I live with, but there are ways to hide things "in plain sight" by making them look irrelevant/not the sort of thing that can hold cash Cheesy As I said, the system is a Raspberry. As an example, I have the machine in one place and the SD card in another.

One also has to consider methods to make sure others can retrieve the funds in case something happens to you, but that's a story for another topic.

I don't think it's relevant to have a video calling device system without internet connection... I mean, I only use the storage for a few minutes, when I really need to retrieve funds. I usually have enough online for urgent needs. It's not really cumbersome to setup the system when you need to use it and keep it hidden meanwhile, all in name of privacy. The system has far more funds coming in than out.

For the amount of coins usually on my storage, I think the physical and virtual security measures I have in practice are good enough, and as I've said, they're a good compromise between security and safety. One thing is for sure, it's not the best system. But it's one I'm happy with.

Here's a suggestion to the OP: drop the SD's and the USB's on your offline system and use a webcam (easy way) or the audio interface (hard way). I use a webcam in my Raspberry setup to send transactions to the online computer. For your offline linux machine, I'd recommend qtQR, easy to use and powerful. I've tried the audio interface previously with another Bitcoin client, but I failed to set it up and eventually gave up on the idea.
Well, somehow I have to boot from Ubuntu and install it on my low-end laptop. So far I've been using USB. It doesn't have a CD drive. I guess I could use my external USB CD drive, but then we're back on USB again.

And no, SD connecting through the USB only gives and illusion of safety.
But why? Doesn't the device itself have to support the hackery in the first place? An SD card is an SD card, not a USB key. Different device, even if it's connecting to a USB on the computer internally. The malware we've been talking about regarding USB keys, can malware of the same kind also be placed on an SD card?

Any USB device comes with a firmware and class negotiation, even a plain hub. These manufacturers don't come up with their own MCUs, they buy generic MCUs from large manufacturers like TI, Microchip and FTDI. They upload a USB firmware in the MCU's NVRAM and this the vulnerability root kits target to survive a power cycle.

There you go, pf Smiley The SD card cannot contain the malware. But you've got to make sure that, as an example, your laptop's SD card reader isn't just a simple USB reader to be safe with SD's
2232  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BitcoinXT nodes , what the hell ? on: August 25, 2015, 02:27:29 PM
Didn't notice this crazy amount of nodes! Another proof that they can be easily spoofed and went by undetected by xtnodes
2233  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We need the bitcoin foundation to fix the blocksize problem on: August 25, 2015, 12:12:22 AM
Have you even read about the foundation lately?!? Roll Eyes Hope this was an ironic post.

No. I haven't read anything about the foundation for a long time, maybe a year. I don't spend much time following that kind of things. Please, tell me more about it. Did I miss something?

That's more comprehensible. The Foundation has been involved in scandal after scandal for the last few months and has been a disservice for Bitcoin. They paid millionaire salaries to themselves and end up "bankrupt" and they are basically dismembered. They do not serve any purpose to Bitcoin, they only serve themselves. They're the last ones that can help with doubts about block size. For all purposes they do not exist anymore.

Wait.... You mean they're finally bankrupt now and we don't have to deal with the arrongace of their self-appointed leadership? Yey!

I mean that we are finally aware of what really happened on the Bitcoin Foundation and have now proof to call them a failure. And yes, we have all the right to ignore them, as they are certainly a toxic asset to Bitcoin.
2234  Other / Meta / Re: If you know for sure that NSA/CIA... are watching bitcointalk.org will U use it! on: August 25, 2015, 12:05:49 AM
This thread ended up having pretty nice insights on the topic... And many people posting too fast without looking at their posts. Anyways...

If the DA AUSA (Assistant United States Attorney - remember this is all Federal) believes you are guilty, and believes they can prove it then they should take you to trial; if they do not then they should drop the charges.
The AUSA and my attorney both agreed that the criminal case was a "coin toss" if sent to a jury.  We had a few pre-trial motions to try and assume they all failed the only thing left would have been:  Was what I was doing, trading Bitcoins on localbitcoins.com a business or not?  They claimed it was, we claimed it was not.  Since those wet noodles over at FinCEN did not define what constitutes a business as far a volume of transactions and/or volumes of trades and left it specifically ambiguous as "a matter of fact and circumstance" it would have been up to a jury to decide who was/is right.

BTW by not taking my case to trial this question has still not been decided.

This makes things even more weird. I question myself: what's considered a business? When does one have to acquire a license to trade? Do they emit licenses for Bitcoin traders so that they would be "inside" the law and be able to trade safely? Would a "licensed bitcoin trader" have to require ID to all the people they sell coins to?

If there's no law from FinCEN regulating what's a business or not, I'm curious how did authorities justify deploying people (from policemen to justice) to investigate, search, seize, look your things up and arrest you. There's got to be a reason beyond assets, even if it's a completely ridiculous reason. Maybe I'm failing something (haven't been catching up with the other thread about you).

Questioning your friends and having them give up coins is also very concerning.

2236  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We need the bitcoin foundation to fix the blocksize problem on: August 24, 2015, 09:11:49 PM
Well, could be the opportunity to save it from the brink. Anyway, I'm just looking for solutions. The blocksize problem has to go and I certainly like the idea of a consensus, but I don't see one emerging soon.

I firmly disagree of getting the Bitcoin Foundation up after what has happened. They were as corrupt as some governments out there. But I'll stop here as the Foundation isn't the scope of this thread.

I'm pretty certain that consensus will be reached. At the very worse it will be reached when everyone has the rope on their necks and time is running out for 1MB blocks Smiley

2240  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Help me with making some vanity addresses? on: August 24, 2015, 07:55:14 PM
If you run vanitygen without any arguments you are presented with a list of commands. There's a command to keep finding addresses after the first match and another one to dump all of this to a text file Smiley
