That will be Progressive
Be Smart

Haha that's me in 2018.  Grin

We all have our price.  Tis' a personal thing... like shoes or headphones, or bumpstocks.

Let's name a few

- restrict the insane from buying
- restrict criminals from buying
- proper storage of weapons in the home
- gun registration
- no open or concealed carry for assault rifles
- ban on high capacity magazines
- ban on full-auto firing
Etc.
Etc.

My dick is big, but... bwah.

(couldn't help it.  That's IT dammit.  I promise)

When guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns.
Gun control means using both hands.
Good guys with guns do stop bad guys with guns. Maybe not all the time, but enough times to count for something.
When seconds count, the police are minutes away.

And observing...

More innocent people/kids get shot than bad guys if you look up the stats.
If the bad guys couldn't get the guns the police would have more than enough time.

And with gun control even more innocent people/kids will get shot and even less bad guys will be shot, because bad guys will allways get their hands on guns, while good guys will obey the law.

Not if you look at the rest of the world. The rest of the world seems to know how to solve this uniquely American problem...

Yup.  And where it leads:

OK I mean it this time. Wink

Ok whatever.... you mentioned "popular will of the people"/"representative democracy. "
If that was truly the case, that last clown elected in 2016 would not have happened.

.....

I would *welcome* a widespread review of gun laws in the US. The overwhelming majority of them would be thrown out as ineffectual if nothing else.

The USA is a gun toting culture. Always has been, always will be.
So get used to mass shootings. (I'd venture to guess most Americans have at this point) They are not going away.
Debating gun laws in the USA is like debating religion.
Just like the thoughts and prayers the victims get, it's totally fruitless and useless. Sad but true.

I understand the temptation to equate something you disagree with with something else you disagree with, but let me explain how I see it.

When they come to take my property.  I have a choice afforded me by my constitution.  I can hand it over, or I can die defending it behind my AR15.  I am practiced, have a lot of ammo and though I will likely die defending my property, I will have had that honorable choice.

The current president pointed out that my AR15 is no match against the government's F16s.  And that illustrates CLEARLY how close to the brink we are today.

An armed and ready populace is much harder to subdue than one that is not armed.  Over and over and over we can see clearly in history how it goes when one side holds the guns and the other does not.

If they come for me.  Some of them will die as well.

Why aren't civilians allowed to bear nuclear warheads? That infringes your rights doesn't it?

Reductio ad absurdum.

OK.  I am done with this topic.  My position should be crystal clear.  I have no desire to piss off 3/4s of the WO, and this is way off topic.  I just get lit up a little when the same weak arguments get posted over and over.

Another teenage mass murderer in the USA.

 Roll Eyes

Happy Independence Day... Ugh....

6 dead, dozens wounded in shooting rampage at July 4th parade in Chicago suburb of Highland Park

Don't know what's stopping usa from reviewing there gun law. This is crossing limits now.

Gun laws just got reviewed in the supreme court. Didn't go the way you'd like. Sorry, not sorry.

It is sad that it has to be explained.  But the gun laws in the USA are there so that if they try in the US what is being tried in other countries across the world it will be much harder to do.

The news will most likely not report it, but the shooter in Chicago was an antifa type masquerading as a "Trumper".  Why is this happening, you might ask?

We are in a war.  A new sort of war.

Name five ANTIFA members?

You can't because it's a BS story fed to you by republicans...

With the amount of trump supporters going to jail it's getting harder to pass the blame.

Skye Cloud Sodja
Jacob Camello
Tara Walker
Chris Guillott
Sage Myers
Brianna Ford
Kyla Ford
Tayler Calderon

Google them. (You may do better if you add 'antifa' to the search... but you will find them all, I think)

I could go on all day.  You are wrong.  Antifa mugshots from Portland:

Actually Rich, in the USA, thru weirdness of the system, there are some major policies that are not representative of the majority of population.. Roe v Wade being overturned for starters.

Roe v Wade was not "policy" and was not set by the legislature. Even RBG stated that the ruling was on shaky ground. The Dems have had many occasions they could have enshrined it as law but, like the late RBG, they didn't move when they could have presumably also for "reasons".

Though there *are* plenty of genuine examples but they are typically not "third-rail" issues (though many of them should be in my book but there you go.)

Point is, there *is* an ongoing conversation in the US. My point is that many external commenters just seem to be pouting that a foreign country doesn't have the beliefs and values they would like them to have and are usually almost totally ignorant of the facts, the politics, the arguments (that have been ground out again and again), the nuances, the laws currently in place, the lack of enforcement, in many cases, of said laws and, for this particular issue, almost anything factual about the devices in question.

I would *welcome* a widespread review of gun laws in the US. The overwhelming majority of them would be thrown out as ineffectual if nothing else.

Damnit.  I am going to run out of merits.

lower bottom or not, I think of a major bounce in the next 2-8 wk, maybe even into September.
SP500 to 4300 (at least)
btc to above 28-29K (at least)
next couple of days are less clear, though.
This bear market is different and even more unpredictable than usual. For the moment it looks like any 5% increase is followed by a 15% drop. Nothing has changed since the last ATH. And this can only be explained by a massive BTCictoin spending as collateral to avoid liquidation and insolvency. Nobody knows if in the next days another fund will explode with 10K+ BTCitcoins on fire sell. For that reason most of the investors either lost interest or wait at the sidelines for the dust to settle. The so called institutional investors are hard to attract and even harder to keep when the price is 50%+ below their purchase price. Even if there is a disbelief rally to 35K+ in the coming weeks, the remaining institutional investors will sell at break even and some of the hodlers will sell something, knowing that a revisit to 20K is to be expected. If the pattern of the previous cycles is kept, the average price will gradually increase to 3x from the bottom until the end of 2024. Examples: 10K->30K, 15K->45K, 17.5->52.5K. And if there is a new ATH in 2025, it might be around only 2x from the last, i.e. 140K. This is what I think, but I might be awfully wrong in both directions, like sub 10K bottom and no new ATH in 2025, or the other extreme - a new ATH beyond 300K.

Based of the previous cycle, the increase from the bottom was 3K end of 2018 till 14K in june 2019, so almost x5 not x3.

yes, but (14/3.1)X 17.6 would be 79.5, an ATH, while in 2019 we went to roughly 70% of prior ATH.
70% of 67566 is 47.3K, a very possible number that already figured multiple times in prior discussions.
I just don't want to talk about it as a high probability target mid term. If we get there, it would be awesome, sure.

So 69k -> 17.6K -> 47K -> final bottom 9/10K -> new ATH 140K ?  Roll Eyes Grin

Honestly I think trying to measure this based on previous cycles is madness.  It could do that, yes. But nothing about this "Cycle" was really all that much like any of the others.  And we are in a macro environment that few have foreseen.

I thought about it...

One out of three aint bad?

PS Also, you guys noticing we have really really entered that weird point in a bitcoin cycle where all these weird noobs and unknowns start showing up out of the woodwork?  Certainly some are future WO members in good standing.  But there are so many... seems like this happens every time.

Many years ago, my doctor told me my cholesterol was slightly elevated (I don't remember the exact numbers but it was 0.1 over the top number in the range) and signed me up for a course on how to eat.  When I saw the list of foods I should avoid, I told the nurse I would rather be euthanized than to live without coffee, eggs, cheese, cream, butter and meat.  Back then, euthanasia wasn't an option so I took the sheet home and never looked at it again figuring I would die from the effects of cholesterol eventually.

The biggest irony is that it is a complete myth (lie) that high cholesterol is caused by any of those things on that list.

The myth is perpetuated by garbage studies, paid for by the corrupt health associations, that don't do proper controls. The survey subjects that they find that have high cholesterol primarily eat diets high in sugars, carbohydrates, processed foods, and processed seed oils... and also so happen to eat eggs, cheese, cream, butter, and meat. So those studies falsely associate the latter foods with high cholesterol. (As a side note, these high cholesterol subjects also show highly elevated levels of triglycerides, which are typically associated with chronic consumption of large amounts of alcohol as well. Interesting, right?)

They NEVER do a controlled study on people who have diets primary of the latter (meat, cheese, diary, eggs, butter) but not the former (sugar, carbs, processed foods, seed oils). This is by design. They actually WANT that misassociation so they can then sell it to the public.

You want to reduce your cholesterol? Stop eating sugar, carbs, and junk that's not real food. Keep the meat, cheese, whole milk, eggs, butter. Eat clean, healthy vegetables. Cook with ghee, real butter, and/or a high quality olive oil. Stay away from seed oils.

I would also say, stay away from alcohol. It's basically high-test liquid sugar but with worse effects on the endocrine system, internal organs, liver, etc. But I know very few will do that, lol.

OT: As a follow-up to this conversation, check out this study:

Study: Low fat diets reduce men’s testosterone levels
https://www.news-medical.net/news/20210409/Study-Low-fat-diets-reduce-mene28099s-testosterone-levels.aspx

Totally makes sense since testosterone is made (in part) from cholesterol.  I eat keto so no problems there.  Any low t I have is genetics and age.

The masses are both inert and stupid.  Moreover, overthrowing an established government requires resources.  A revolution always needs organization, charismatic leadership, propaganda, and lots and lots of money.

Rather than quote your entire piece I will quote what I think is a summary you made early on.

My point was I think the world is (I suppose as it always is) in a very unique time when a Chinese company (lol company) can manufacture a simple application and capture the attention of an entire Western generation. The communication system of the people has changed in a way  that was impossible to foresee for most during my own childhood.

The resources for revolution and warfare do cost a lot of money, yet some of the can be copied endlessly now for nothing.  And by the very masses you intend to conquer. Digital trojan horses at the gates of every city.  Already inside the gates, a million times.  And digital defenses as bulwarks for freedom.  The self sovereignty kind.  Not the apple pie kind.

It is different now.

I dunno... I thought that about this bitcoin cycle too... And here's the thing... I think it IS different now, both in bitcoin and in this topic.  And just the same as ever.

One thing that seems to be different about this particular time is it seems to me the vast majority of folks have NO IDEA what is happening.  I may be among them.  I do not think people realize how deep into the digital war we are.

The two great wars of the 20th century (really one war perhaps still going now) have been called the "World Wars".

Either we rename them someday (The Great Kinetic Wars?), or we eventually recognize they were never over in 1945 or 1950, 1955, 1971 , 2003 or 2020.  Perhaps this is the culmination of all that, and the board has changed so much. But this is a World War in a sense we have never seen.  On a scale that is truly planet wide.  And perhaps we realize the point was never to stamp out "nazism/communism/capitalism" but to try to set the board in a way to take it all for whatever ism you want.  And new powerful players have entered the game over the years.  Some rather quietly.

Yeah.  I agree with you.  The masses really don't have a chance.  They don't know what rising up even means, or where to go.  They do not even know who their masters are.  Certainly not themselves.

"May you live in interesting times", one culture in today's war once said.

"We've always been at war with Eastasia .", said the prophets of another.

Sums it up pretty well from my confused vantage.

Interesting times indeed.

Went for the more Upscale Biltema food today.

There's still a 2.5 Mb limit  Cool

 Looks delicious!

Thanks for fixing it, I don't know how to do these things, especially on a phone.

I really like this thing.  The setup and learning curve may be outside your comfort zone, but the basic idea is the tool can take an image on your phone and reduce the jpg quality to make it something smaller to text etc.  Just a thought.

*edit* I am surprised you say it was bland!  It does look good!

“The people will rise”, “the proles will rise”—this is one of the most damaging myths in history.

I think you are right about this, but to play devil's advocate the "it's different this time" angle is the one world communication system.

But back to the other side... the rulers have not only access to that, but seemingly control over it.

Btw - I'm curious what is the news. Or just mannered shorts liquidation?
3AC blowing their margin call, and BlockFi firesale @ $25M

Oh, before I forget, I wanted to add tokenizing Roger Ver's $48M blown margin as rvCoin - an additional insult of the absolute highest degeneracy - we are seeing VC-backed entities being utterly destroyed by contagion and being way over leveraged since things took a downturn.

I love it.

Flush out all the weak hands and degenerates.

I couldn't care less if we see Vegeta memes again at this point. It's all good and needs to happen, if it happens.

Stay frosty, my friends.

Oh yeah, speaking of which, Monday is two weeks sober. Dun fucked my liver up a bit from my day-drinking catching up with me. Going through a serious detox process, and seeing a liver specialist next week to get myself back to baseline values. Nothing the liver can't bounce back from, but I absolutely need to quit the alcohol intake to absolute zero during this process.

Life and responsible adulting can be hard sometimes.

Have a super weekend, frens.

This completely describes my most favorite part of where we are currently at.  This is a reckoning for people who have tried to shoehorn bitcoin into the same sorts of manipulative games that the big boys have been doing in fiat for 50 years (and more if you consider some of the aspects of monetary history).  And I wish I could go back and find a twitter conversation I was having with Caitlyn Long where we were going back and forth on rehypothication and I said something along the lines of:  They will try it, and they will do it the way it has always been done, and they will get burned and destroyed by bitcoin.

I did not really know for sure if I would be right, and now I do.  At least for now?  Will they figure out a way to work their tricks?  I do not think so, but I could be wrong.

I think fractional bitcoin setups (banks? lenders?) with the RIGHT parameters is a place where great money could be made.  But with no bailouts, and no lender of last resort the game board is COMPLETELY different.  Maybe the FTX guy with all the names will prove to be the one that figures it out, though I hope not since he seems to be anti-bitcoin really.

As to the alcohol.  I salute you. And will say, I am on my own "drying out bender" currently thanks to some recent bumps in my road that make that path much less than optimal.  I feel like you and I have both been here before... ah well. Gabaergics are my weak spot.  That one is one of the most dangerous.

Went for the more Upscale Biltema food today.

That DOES look fairly tasty!  Did you need some spark plugs?  Or just going for the grub?
