361  Economy / Speculation / Re: New down trend. $1000 definitively broken. on: February 13, 2017, 01:29:53 PM
Today we've permanently broken the $1000 barrier and are staying under it.
It seems a new down trend has been set for the foreseeable future.

With China cracking down on Bitcoin quite hard and people realizinf Bitcoin can technically and economically hold nowhere near the value it has now, a new panic wave has set in.

Will the community take control and continue to develop bitcoin for the future or will we see more dramatic years spiraling down and down?

How could you have guessed it? 1000 was another dead cat bounce right?

Just another kwukduck thread to add to the collection of FUD retarded threads created after bitcoin goes down 10 dollars

Lol, it's disappointing, why tittle of the thread not about another dead cat bounce? We miss it Cheesy
Well, on some exchanges shows the price under $1000 ($996, $997, $998) but another already get back to $1000 (coinbase)
If you had bought at $980, congrats, then you may sell it above $1000. But, O don't think the price will fall too far from this level. We're waiting for SEC decision regarding ETF, we may have another decrease or insane rises after that.

He switches it up to not appear repetitive. A dead cat bounce there, a bitcoin fundamentals is broken dip incoming there, a regulations coming about to crash the market here... that's how this guy operates. He keeps his dumb mouth shut when the price goes up, and then as it naturally fluctuates down, he comes with the FUD. What a joke.

363  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Can Hit $2K ? on: February 13, 2017, 12:47:27 AM
don't see it hitting $2k anytime soon. too many hurdles and logistics involved. banks hate bitcoin and we all know who owns the banks...
You never know how the price of bitcoin will go from this situation and if you look at history the price reached these sort of levels in a few trading days from double digits and with the price above thousand you really need a couple of good trade to hours to reach $2000.

We will see $2000 after we crush the ATH with consistence, we are going to need some time so all the cheap sub $1000 BTC is bought. The whales will not stop the shaking game until all those weak hands are dried up.

I feel sorry for all the noobs that will keep falling trap for those sub $1000 dips, specially those with short positions opened hoping to make a killing... sooner or later they will be left out of the game and bankrupt as BTC goes high as hell.
364  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Where did this notion come from? on: February 13, 2017, 12:21:39 AM
"Bitcoin is banned in many countries"

I see lots of newer users and even some older, more experienced and knowledgeable users on this forum say it. Where did it come from? If you hand half a brain to read Bitcoin news (coindesk, cryptocoinsnews and news.bitcoin.com are my go tos), you would realise that all recent events regarding governments and Bitcoin are mostly just anti-money-laundering restrictions, not bans against cryptocurrency.

The thing is, a lot of people get the news from the mainstream, and the mainstream is known for getting things twisted. For example, i've seen "bitcoin banned in russia" numerous times already. My russian friends which are into bitcoin but in a casual way, have told me about it a lot of times already.
365  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Reason Bitcoin will always be #1 on: February 12, 2017, 07:16:46 PM
The network effect is too strong to take the #1 spot. It would need to be a total technological breakthrough to convince a bitcoin holder to move his bitcoins into another coin. It would need to solve all bitcoin major flaws, and as of today no coin does that, they all have nothing but gimmicks, some have interesting stuff, but none of them really cut it to justify the big risk of moving your BTC into a brand new coin.
366  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Blockchain.info may have made me lost 30,000 USD PLEASE help- $10 to solver on: February 12, 2017, 06:27:20 PM
Why in the fuck did you have that amount of money in an online wallet instead of storing the coins locally to begin with?

In any case, write support, i've heard blockchain.info has a decent support team and has proven to solve problems in teh past, but learn the lesson: get that money out of here as soon as possible and download bitcoin core and have the full blockchain in your computer, and you help activating segwit while you are at it by running a node.
367  Economy / Speculation / Re: Two newbie questions about anonymity and pump and dumps on: February 12, 2017, 04:26:38 PM
Hello, I am a newbie, but I have followed this forum on and off for a few years. I have these two question perhaps some folks could shed some light on. Maybe they are obvious and/or already have been answered: if so, sorry for a dumb post.

1. Bitcoin is referred to a quasi-anonymous, in that transactions to specific addresses are stored and can thus be tracked. Why doesn’t this provide a means to find out something about who/what is behind big pump and dumps?

2. It seems to me that having fewer coins amongst a larger number of holders would be a good thing, as opposed to whales holding hordes. Do the pump and dumps help spread the coins around, or do they just get bought up by the whales agains?

Thanks!

It's not that easy. All an exchange has is:

1) the address that the bitcoins came from
2) the ip address of the session logins

I assume big whales are using Tor/VPN's to not leave ip traces, and also if the bitcoin address has no info attached to it, like the whale's name or something, it's just useless and they could have mixed the coins for all we know.

So no, nobody is going to bother trying to find who is pumping what.
368  Economy / Speculation / Re: Economist predicts Bitcoin $25,000 on: February 12, 2017, 03:47:29 PM
$25,000 would make us insanely wealthy but a price that high seems a distant dream. A lot would have to change to make something like this a reality. Maybe many years away but not soon.
This remains a dream. it took a very remarkable thing that can make the price of bitcoin reach 25,000USD. still need a very long time, and we here certainly wanted it to happen as quickly as possible. many people will become rich because of this incident.

You are forgetting that bitcoin will grow exponentially in big bubble burst cycles, it will not be a smooth sailing trip, so nobody knows how high it will be after this $1000 floor. Now everyone knows bitcoin under $1000 is cheap, so next bubble is anyone's guess, $25,000 is certainly possible.
369  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Saving bitcoins on: February 12, 2017, 03:24:10 PM
The point of bitcoin is to not depend on banks. Forget about telling other people your private keys, that defeats the main purpose of being your own bank.

Just make some damn backups and remember your password, can't be that hard.
370  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why centralization is way that Bitcoin will go in future in current state. on: February 11, 2017, 06:01:41 PM
Bitcoin was supposed to be a alternative P2P payment network, and it was supposed to scale as it grew bigger. This is not happening, because the

Blockstream developers have throttled the Block size growth down, because they want to implement SegWit and the LN. They see scaling in a

whole other way than Satoshi intended it to be. { Is Satoshi's scaling the ultimate solution?... Who knows.... Is Blockstreams roadmap the way

forward?... Well the majority of the NODES seems to say NO.  Huh .... So yes, until this is sorted out.. centralized services will have to be our

interim solution.  Roll Eyes

Bitcoin was supposed to be p2p CASH. Read the whitepaper.

How can bitcoin ever be cash if the nodes are centralized to allow for global usage? (because the only way to allow global usage would be huge datacenters running the nodes, and that would mean it is no longer cash, but a paypal with a token)

It's stupid. So if satoshi wanted that, he made a mistake.

Bitcoin + segwit + LN is the only way bitcoin can remain censorship resistant, all other alternatives are objectively a disaster.

Also the only way to ever get true decentralized exchanges, is with LN technology, im sure the smart guys could code a fully decentralized exchange.

So wake the fuck up, LN is the future, bitcoin can never do anything but be store of value without a 2nd layer solution.
371  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: So who the hell is still supporting BU? on: February 11, 2017, 05:07:09 PM
I'm supporting Bitcoin unlimited. I'm not a BU extremist like some others on the forum, but it's obvious that Segwit has its flaws. Bitcoin Unlimited is the best fork available right now. If you think otherwise, convince me.

If you understand that segwit is needed for Lightning, this should convince you.

Money, blockchains, and social scalability

If you need some specific context to understand why BU sucks, this article is ideal.

icebreaker still doing a good job refuting all those gavinista hard fork attempts I see. I remember you posting about XT and classic back in the day, now they are back with unlimited.

Very nice Nick Szabo article in his blog. Lays it down nicely. I would add this one by Andreas too:

https://medium.com/segwit-co/segregated-witness-and-aligning-economic-incentives-with-resource-costs-7d987b135c00#.ui14y1ffm

Im sure if there was a better team than Core, we would have no problems admitting it if they showed superior code and a realistic vision, but as of today, im sorry but anyone not supporting Core + LN roadmap is simply delusional, they are the best.

Until somebody can come up with a coin that scales onchain to visa level volume transactions, without node centralization, with near instant and cheap transactions... Core + LN (with segwit) is the best thing we have, so don't get fooled.
372  Economy / Speculation / Re: New record being at 1000+? on: February 11, 2017, 03:51:24 PM
It hasn't stayed over $1000 entirely, but it's good to see the the price remain over $1000 for a while. People have to adapt to seeing the price at these levels as they were used to levels a few hundred $ lower. It will take time before people gain enough confidence to support these levels. I wouldn't be surprised if the price happens to fall back below $1000 again. Price range should be somewhere between $900 and $1100 in the coming weeks.

Look again. Bitcoin has been $1000+ since February 3, so that's 3 days in a row. They tried to crash the price below $1000 in several occasions (notice the sudden dips) and they failed to bring it below $1000, it was close but it quickly goes up again. $1000 is becoming the new floor.

The counter has now been reset, thanks to more PBOC manipulation, but china has no power anymore over bitcoin, it recovers too quick.

We are now back to $1000+ territory has expected, so 02/11/2017 is the new timer. Let's count how many days it stays above $1000, hopefully forever this time.
373  Economy / Speculation / Re: After the usual PBOC bullshit routine. Uptrend continues. on: February 10, 2017, 06:31:08 PM
two things

a) another lesson why it is bad to have money on an exchange...I wish there was a way of hedging BTC against fiat without trusting the money to a third party

b) it is not a coincidence that this happens now. Every time BTC goes over $1000, PBOC is interfering. Obviously they do not wish BTC to be more than $1000 permanently.

for sure those exchanges will now bully users using the frozen funds....  Sad

The only way we could have money in a broker to take advantage of quick price movements its through some sort new decentralized technology. Bitsquare.io is not what we want, that is a marketplace. We need a poloniex replacement in a decentralized way.

I think until lightning network is operative, such technologies will not be possible. We would also need segwit.

Until then, it's time to buy and hold on our cold wallets, it's not worth having any BTC in exchanges for any relevant amounts of time.
374  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin going to 2,000 $ soon ? why not ? on: February 10, 2017, 04:28:36 PM
Reasonable, bitcoin currently looks very good, just in a week already up $100. If this trend continues, then I'm sure the price of $2.000 will be reached before september this year.

It is not impossible to reach $2000 since we are increasing that $100 a week, and it is so good in bitcoin, demand exactly increasing that big, so if we still grow and make that increasing we can expect that more than $2000 then.
yes everything is possible in bitcoin, the price of bitcoin can increase more that 100 USD in one week, but it can fell down 150 USU just in 3 or 4 hours. you can please check the Preev.com. the price of bitcoin is currently trading below 950 USD level. but still i am hopeful that it is temporary downfall and the price of bitcoin is expecting to increase and recover its position in next few hours again.
I checked the price and I saw that the price of bitcoin is once again going to increase in value. This type of decrease occur every time but sooner the price once again increase to a higher value. I am trying to buy some more bitcoins because currently it is good to buy to earn some profit at short term.
It does decreased again and it do already happen now just try to see bitcoins price as of now and you will see the price drop in a short period of time. These things do really happens anytime when bitcoins price tends to go up and with this drop maybe theres an another news which causes bitcoins price to go down.
no we are not expecting any bad news after this. the price of bitcoin is already trading in a very very low level, therefore we are not expecting any more downfall in the price of bitcoin. i am hopeful that after every downfall there is good increase in the price of bitcoin and so this time also we ae expecting the price to increase too much. may be this time the price of bitcoin cross its previous all time high price and make new historical high price record.

The people that have doubts about getting in bitcoin saw the price go $1000+, now they are happy to see it on 3 figures again. It's a matter of them whenthey start panic buying and drive the price back to $1000+ creating more fomo. It's obvious that this Gov chinese shit controlled crash already bottomed, whales already shorted and are ready to pump. $910 was the bottom, stop dreaming with lower prices, we are going back to $1000++ where BTC belongs naturally.
375  Economy / Economics / Re: Japan now #1 in volume on: February 10, 2017, 04:03:19 PM
This means nothing honestly , Quoine is currently number #1 simply because the Chinese exchanges such as Huobi and OKCoin stopped the withdrawal and some operations and It's a matter of time till they start once again and they get their places back. Logically the volume comes from the countries that has the biggest mining farms and China still that country.

China will sooner or later stop being the number 1 place in the world, they will fuck it up. People will start hating the fact that they are obviously manipulating the price everytime we got close to $1000+

Other countries have a chance to invest in mining technology and outgame them. Also, the japanese are tired of their inflationary fiat currency disaster, so they can take the lead too by accepting bitcoin and forget about government crappycoin.

Also comparing the current situation with the 2013 situation is stupid.
376  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Price Crashes as Chinese Exchanges OkCoin & Huobi Pause Withdrawal on: February 10, 2017, 01:48:37 PM
Rumors are that China is in the Midst of a Great Depression that will Rival the 1929 US version.

China is doing everything they can to prop up their Yuan, including blocking all outflows of capital from China.

So even when the Chinese exchanges do start allowing BTC & LTC to be withdrawn , expect their to be serious restrictions on those amounts.
(If they don't immediately reinstate a longer block not long after allowing them.)

China may start confiscating BTC from the exchanges and sell them to prop up the Yuan.
If they do , then we have to call BTC ,  BNTC instead.

BNTC = Better NOT Trust China

 Cool

FYI:
On a trading note , A month is a long time, BTC value could easily drop in half before the blocks are lifted.

Or it could recover in a matter of days and you would lose a lot of money by not being in or even worse, by setting short positions.

China is no longer an huge player in the market, they had fake volume, we can do good without them. Also it's obvious this is manipulation and someone is getting really rich in the chinese government by buying all the cheap bitcoins from the panic sellers.
377  Economy / Speculation / Re: Time to buy back up! on: February 09, 2017, 05:12:33 PM
everybody buys back, you better hurry or the money you got from dumping it are just enough to buy back. turning my btc to usd is making me nervous that it might not happen. i waited for days before seeing someone finally dumped and drag the price down. i guess i exited too early Smiley

Price will not last under $1000, $1000 is the new psychological factor to enter the market, so it's pretty obvious that we are going to see $1000 soon again, it's clear anything under 3 figures is going to be seen as cheap as hell BTC months from now.
378  Economy / Speculation / Re: Anyone thinking China regulation is cause of drop should rethink his whole life on: February 09, 2017, 03:52:39 PM
it is simply manipulation using a hot news.
they built it up in the previous days, and today in a couple of hours ago they started dumping at high price of 1050+ to create panic.

you can see signs of their manipulation on this board too. so many new accounts are being created saying the same lies.

and guess who is going to buy at the bottom from those who panic dump? exactly the same people who sold at 1050+ to start the panic.

LOL the things people say when their scheme is falling apart.

Bitcoin is fundamentally flawed at protocol level. It doesn't scale and offers no usable privacy! There is no application for the system in a real world economy with real people.

Your dumb FUD is at it again.

So by your logic, gold offers to use in modern society with modern people right?

And how it doesn't offer privacy? Buy bitcoin and run it through helix using Tor, there you have it. Or just work for bitcoin and get paid in bitcoin directly and nobody can ever know.

Bitcoin is insanely undervalued, time to buy the dip.
379  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: using old phones as cold wallets on: February 08, 2017, 06:17:06 PM
why not paper wallet , if you want to go through all that trouble, electronic components can fail over time.

Paper wallets can get lost unless you make tons of copies. They can (and will) deteriorate with time too, you can make it last a lot if you wrap it on plastic tho, but I think paper long term will deteriorate even if sealed on plastic and you don't want to end up with a QR code that doesn't properly scan, so I think several copies on several platforms are the best. Paper and digital, and an old phone is not a bad idea. I think old simple phones break harder than the new more complex ones that overheat often.
380  Economy / Speculation / Re: Today's volatility with 1009 bottom proved Chinese news has no power anymore on: February 08, 2017, 04:36:59 PM
with all the FUD that have been flying around any place that was bitcoin related about China and also the dump that took place a couple of hours ago with $1009 bottom on bitfinex i think it is safe to say that Chinese news and FUD no longer has the previous power it used to have causing panic sells.

it also shows the strength of the buy support.

what do you think?

They will keep milking their PBOC crap to keep buying cheap BTC from panic selling idiots as long as possible. But yeah, BTC is not going under $1000 anymore. We are back to $1053 now and we will be soon above $1068 to continue the unstoppable rise to infinity and beyond.
