381  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Did you learn from your gambling mistakes? on: November 09, 2017, 07:14:28 AM
I want to say "yes". Before, I used to search for tips & tricks and techniques in earning money from gambling sites. There are numerous of betting methods like martingale and some other complicated ones. I even learned to program the betting script so I can modify it to work the way I want it. My gambling addiction ended when I looked at myself, and asked myself, "What are you doing?" I was just losing money every single day. If I held those bitcoins up to this day, I could have bought a brand new smartphone with that amount. I think that all gamblers, even the most addicted ones, will one day wake up from the fact that you can never earn anything from gambling. It was made so that you are going to lose and the owner of the gambling site is going to win. It's rigged, some might say. But the truth is the odds are just against you. It can be totally random or whatever never have I seen someone make money from gambling constantly except to those that are running their own gambling site.
382  Economy / Economics / Re: Is bitcoin a good way to invest your money ? on: November 09, 2017, 06:51:29 AM
I don't know about your place, but I don't think there was ever a company that have ten-fold their stocks in just a matter of months. For you to see just how good of an investment bitcoin is, there are people who are considering putting their money in the bank, put it at time deposit, and have about 3%-6% gain in a year. You can earn that amount of money by just doing simple tasks in the bitcoin world or in real life. People wants a really really safe investment and so they choose to invest in the banks even when the gain is almost nothing and the time they have to wait is tremendous.

Bitcoin is a good way to invest your money but same as anything else that have good gains, it comes with good amount of risk as well. No one knows what's going to happen to bitcoin in the future but if you truly want to earn some money, you have to take risks just like anything in life. Risks are taken for the greater good and if you fail, it's alright since it serves as a lesson.
383  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can cryptocurrency make real money disappear? on: November 09, 2017, 06:34:53 AM
Back then we used to talk to each other by meeting up with them in a specified location. For long distance communication, we write letters to them and it takes a month or so before they can receive it. Today, do we even talk to each other at all. We meetup in group chats and even when people are together, they are still using their phone to talk to other people. It's like talking is done electronically at most times and I think the same thing can be done with sending and receiving money.

Before, we also had to meetup so we can hand over our cash to the person we are having a deal with. But today, you can send your money through the Internet by using online banking. Cryptocurrencies are better than banking and the reasons are endless (and is common knowledge so there's no need to talk about it in this post). Cryptocurrencies will not make real money just disappear out of thin air but rather it can deplete the power of real money until the time comes when no one is using it anymore. I don't really have an idea when it's going to happen but for sure it's going to happen. Things that can be done better and easier through the use of the technology eventually gets replaced like sending mails and talking to people. How is sending/receiving money any different.
384  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Middle East Richest Business Man, Won't Invest In Bitcoin on: November 09, 2017, 06:09:11 AM
Does his opinion really matter?  or does it encourage rest of the world to hold on investing in bitcoin?

Agreed. He doesn't want to invest in bitcoin. And? Is that the rest of the story? The world is not going to end. The bitcoin community is not going to suffer just because he didn't want to invest in bitcoin. My neighbor didn't want to invest in bitcoin, did I have any sleepless night? Not at all. It's because I know truly that bitcoin is for the people that's been looking for a way to earn some money on the Internet. That man is already the richest man, so why would he even need to risk his money and invest in something that he doesn't fully understand. He can just continue doing what he's doing that made him the richest business man of the Middle East. So it's not entirely bitcoin but rather his position in the economic race. He's at the top so why even diverse his investments especially to a speculative asset. I would do the same thing as him. I will just go all in with the current business that I have.

I mainly believe that relevant people posting things like that or having some "statement" about bitcoin is just low-key spreading FUD so the process of bitcoin going mainstream will be prolonged. I mean, they don't have to announce that at all or make that public but they did. It makes you wonder, right? I bet it's because they are close to the government and they don't want something so revolutionary to take over or at least not in their term.
385  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What Caused the Boom in Bitcoin on: November 09, 2017, 05:58:09 AM
I've been watching and monitoring bitcoin for close to 3 or 4 years and I can say this year has been the best year for the crypto and all the investors in the market, firstly, the coin witnessed unpredicted increase in value this year more than any other year before.

I know that the value is based on the principle of demand and supply but I'd like to know what else contributed to the price value and the popularity bitcoin has right now globally.

Word of mouth. I used to be the only bitcoin user in my school and now we are plenty. And by plenty I meant like there are people in my school that are using bitcoin but are not directly connected to me. I just talked about how I earn money on the Internet to my classmates and friends. At some point, I guess they thought they also want to help their friends and so they talked to them about it as well. And that's exponential growth right there. My friends' friend will be talking to their friends about bitcoin as well and so on. We all know that in exponential growth, even when in the start there's only just a couple of people involved, the growth will be unbelievable in the future.

The popularity of bitcoin gives it hype and thus with the demand law, the price gets higher and higher.
386  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if, we advertise bitcoin on T.V.? on: November 09, 2017, 05:48:56 AM
Bitcoin might never be advertise in public TV but cryptocurrencies are already in the Youtube Ads. Just browse a couple of videos about bitcoin and the succeeding advertisements will be about cryptocurrency. Yes, Youtube does take information from what have you been watching and then they send you an appropriate sponsored video about that certain topic.

Media is one of the best ways to influence people. Some might not know it but media has been the tool of the government to manipulate the mass. They want people to live in fear of their president, then they show footage about the president being harsh. They want people to feel happy or generally just alright, then they show footage of cute stuffs and they launch TV series about happiness. A lot of things can be done to you by just watching the television and so I don't really watch it. Our government seems to make us all sad with all the TV series that we have that's all about drama and sadness. Nevertheless, the TV is completely controlled by the government. If one of the networks showed something that's kind of against the government, then they are going to shut down that show right away. Same thing will just happen if they aired a commercial about bitcoin. It might appear once or maybe the government is even filtering the things that gets aired so it might never appear at all.
387  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: would you live in a country that use bitcoin as official currency? on: November 09, 2017, 05:38:55 AM
Quote
would you live in a country that use bitcoin as official currency?

After reading this, I'm just like "Where do I sign up?" In a country where bitcoin is the official currency, then people all know about bitcoin. That means literally every single person that's in there shares the same interest as I do. Since they had the guts to move there, that means that they really do love bitcoin. Another thing, a lot of bitcoin users love computers and most of the people in that country would probably be in front of their computer 24/7 just doing bitcoins or something. I really want to befriend a computer geek since I, myself, is interested in computer and bitcoins and I have never found a single person in my area that's the same. Most people here are like people from the past. No one's really techhy at all, and if there is, they are too big-headed to converse with a regular guy like me. People are basically either too poor or acting too rich in my place.

Some people here are being problematic about the Internet usage. That makes me confused. In a country where bitcoin is the official currency, it is obvious that the whole country has an Internet connection because otherwise, then that will not be a country that has bitcoin as an official currency. There might be some places where there's no connection like off-the-grid places but obviously you're not going to have a transaction in that place unless you are doing something so shady.
388  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is trust in USD finished? on: November 09, 2017, 05:19:48 AM
What do you mean? Government cant print az many cash as they want? You need to read more
There are a lot of requirement to create more cash, one of the requirement is gold reserve
So you cant just print cash as you wish

You don't have to be a genius to see that what most countries are doing..
How do they even buy gold? Oh wait by printing more money.

I don't know about the other guy but as long as you are not living in the past, then you are wrong. Gold reserve is a thing of the past. If you haven't read about the Nixon Shock, then I suggest that you go ahead and do a quick search for it. In 1970s, Richard Nixon removed the requirement for gold reserve for people to print money. Nowadays, a lot of countries have tons of debts in major countries so they are left with no choice but to print money continuously. As you might probably notice, literally all of the goods and services (or simply commodities) have a rising price. You can often hear people saying that things are now more expensive than ever but the truth is, it's our money that has a problem. Since there's no more requirement for printing dollars or any other currency, the government can just print as much money as they want and never have to worry about it. And that simple action inflates our money. There's a lot of new money coming in, thus the value of it decreases.

So is the trust for USD finished? I want to say it "should" be finished right after the Nixon Shock but at that time they have no other choice but to continue using it since there was no other alternative for it. Now, we have bitcoins, and it's time for people to wake up to this truth that we shouldn't trust our fiat money as much as we are doing so right now.
389  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin Die Because of China? on: November 09, 2017, 05:08:49 AM
I remember the old post back then that kind of hit me a little so I'm going to share it with you guys. When PBoC banned bitcoin or wanted to regulate it or whatever, the price of bitcoin decreased a lot. People thought that it was the end of bitcoin because it was believed that China has the major part of the whole bitcoin community. But, it only took a couple of days for bitcoin to get back to its feet. From that we can conclude that China isn't as big as what we thought. I've read a quote saying, "Only when the tide goes out do you discover who's been swimming naked" by Warren Buffet.

China can do whatever the hell they want but at the end of the day, they cannot change the fact that bitcoin has already been scattered all over the world. If ever they sell their bitcoins once again, it will just be a regular dump day for bitcoin users and they will even enjoy it since they can buy bitcoins for a lower amount. It's even a good thing because it makes bitcoin more decentralized since there's not a single country that's being feared of because they hold a lot of bitcoins.
390  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Everyone already knows about bitcoin" no.. no they do not.. on: November 06, 2017, 03:29:12 PM
I made a research by asking my friends and my professional colleague about knowledge of BTC, they simply said no. I went further asking people in my compound at my resident the same question, all I heard was no. Many are yet to be aware of BTC in my home country. I was personally  introduced to BTC this year by my younger brother who stay is a different city in my country.

I think you're trying to ask a not-so-common thing to regular people. When looking for someone who shares the same interest as you, in this case bitcoin, you should just use social media. In my area, I don't even know someone who actually sings for a living. But on facebook, it turns out that there's actually a lot of them and they have made a community that talks about that topic. They are helping each other out. Maybe just find a facebook group about bitcoin and then post there if there's someone out there that's from your place. If there's none, maybe the person that's using bitcoin in your place is just on a different facebook group or he was just offline when you posted that so keep on trying.

You can't just go and ask people around about bitcoin. It hasn't gone mainstream yet and then only people that knows about it are techhy people and people who was forced by poverty to look up ways on the Internet to earn extra money.
391  Economy / Economics / Re: Can Bitcoin End World Poverty? on: November 06, 2017, 03:18:36 PM
I don't think so. You have to know there are many factors cause poverty. That's not only because they don't have money but also their knowledge. You can't earn anything if you don't understand about bitcoin, right ?

The world has become dominated by the people who are well-informed about something. You're dumb, then you suck. The time when the big guys or masculine guys are dominating are now over. You can still get picked up in school by this type of bully but if you know things, you can get back to them without actually having to hurt them back physically. There's just a lot more going on in the world right now compared to how it was back then. Techhy people can make fun of you on the Internet and maybe even have his Internet friends pick up on you on social media. They are basically a threat, maybe not physically but once they are in front of the computer screen.

Being in a third world country, physical labor isn't that much anymore. That's why call centers are here. That's why they get domestic countries from my country, etc. If you don't have any knowledge at all, people are going to take advantage of you. You will end up working so hard in an office but also end up having very little pay. The world pays you according to your knowledge now. It's kind of what's separating people from other people, their knowledge. You know more about a certain specialization, then you get paid more.

Relating it with bitcoins, you can be a fast typer, you can have a fast Internet, you can have it all, but without knowledge, I'm afraid but you're not going to be able to monetize your talents. I see a lot of people being able to do 80 words per minute in typing challenge, but since they don't know anything at all, all those skills just goes to playing a game that they don't really enjoy.
392  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Overview of Bitcointalk Signature-Ad Campaigns [Last update: 02-Nov-2017] on: November 06, 2017, 01:48:43 PM
just when you think you are there to earn your first 0.001 BTC BONPAY will up the bar. They come up with new demands and rules just to avoid paying people for previous promotion. They ban participants without any meaningful reason.

Leave, maybe? I'm going to investigate further and see if they deserve to have a red asterisk (warning).
Edit: I think they just updated the rules for the next week? I expect their campaign to be taken down anytime soon because they are violating a forum rule which is incentivizing posting in ANN threads.

Couldnt understand this way

The abbrevations are at the top part of the table. Better read it.

I'm about to post another update.
393  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin may not be number one for long on: November 05, 2017, 06:18:43 PM
It can't be overtaken because it's expensive?  Because it's got the market share?  That's what Sears said.  That's what Kodak said.  That's what AOL said.  And Myspace.  So what I'm saying is that those really aren't rational answers are they?  As soon as a coin comes along that out bitcoins bitcoin then it will be a thing of the past.  If you know the time frame, then you are all set!

Time frame of what exactly? The time frame of that coin being in the market? Well, guess what. Almost all altcoins out there are better than bitcoins in some aspect because they do specialize in a certain aspect (e.g. faster transaction, lesser fees, more anonymous) but none of them comes near bitcoin right? Not even ETH. To be honest, altcoins are just out there so people can trade and take money from each other in a fair way. Those that knows trading better than the others get the most money. It's a zero-sum game. No matter how you look at it, it's going to be this way.

It makes total sense that bitcoin is going to stay as the best coin for the rest of time and the market share is just a proof of that. People might invest in this or that coin but at the end of the day it's all just so they can more bitcoins. Bitcoins are becoming more and more of a thing now and so people are investing more on ICOs hoping that they are going to make much more than they invested.

The price of a cryptocurrency how much of a hype it is receiving. The more people hype it up, the more people are going to buy it. The result will be more market share and a more expensive coin. Bitcoin being the most expensive coin just proves that the coin is receiving the most hype. There was a coin back then that's 5BTC each, not it's just 0.2BTC and it never even went to ICO price once it got to the exchanger. Why? Because it didn't receive any hype at all. Now it's dead.
394  Economy / Economics / Re: Can Bitcoin End World Poverty? on: November 05, 2017, 06:02:14 PM
I don't think that is so close to happen since it is not marked legal yet all over the world. Not everyone has an idea about bitcoin so obviously things like solving world poverty involves everyone and I don't find it feasible. Many people are already helped by bitcoin and was able to escape poverty and it is because they chose to do it. You can not force everyone to do bitcoin so the end of world poverty should not rely on bitcoin rather it should in the government and the society.

I feel like every single problem gets solved only if the person who has that problem wants it to be solved and will do anything to do so. There's a saying, "If you were born poor, that's not your fault but if you die poor, it's all on you." Poor people stay poor not because they are uneducated or anything but because they are not so motivated. The poor people that have made their way out of poverty through bitcoin has one thing that other poor people don't have. It's the willpower to actually do something about his situation and not just whine or cry about it 24/7. He was not even different from the other poor people in his surrounding. Obviously they all have a way to connect to the Internet because he did. But some choose Facebook over trying to actually learn something and earn some money.

At the end of the day, it's still in the way you deal with things. You can either cry about your situation or get up and pull yourself out from poverty. After that, maybe start pulling out other people from poverty too. Reach out, help people. And I think that's the only way world poverty will come to an end. Once we all start helping each other.
395  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Do you have an idea to invest your bitcoin in offline business? on: November 05, 2017, 05:33:43 PM
As I know most bitcoin users still focus on online business like trading, faucets and online store. If you have enough bitcoin would you invest your bitcoin in offline business like aggricultural Industry, Culinary or may be tourism Industry?

Bitcoin will be known by a lot of people if most bitcoin users use the bitcoin to do offline business. You can use your bitcoin for funding or payment. When your government prohibit bitcoin you can use bitcoin as funding option. I think if you can make sustainable and profitable offilne business there will be a lot of investors from bitcoin comunity who want to take a part in your businsess. Do you think this idea is possible?

In my own opinion, I think that it is not possible to start an offline business with a bitcoins involve because bitcoins is a digital currency and you need a third party app to transfer your bitcoins to another wallet.

Bitcoin is just so far from what we need in order for it to become worth implementing in an offline business. First off, bitcoin is only well-known in first world countries where the technology is far more advanced that those of third world countries. But, people in those places are so busy in their every day lives especially their work. They probably don't have the time to learn about bitcoin let alone buy some and find a merchant that accepts it. You are lucky if you found a bitcoin user near your area who's not a friend of yours whom you influenced to use bitcoin.

Obviously, there's not that much people in the third world country that knows about bitcoin. There's only limited places there that have a stable Internet connection. Some might not even afford Internet because according to my research, it's even a lot more expensive in third world countries. The scenario will be basically like you're selling something from the future that no one even understands yet and you're just there waiting. The only time that thing will finally be sold is when people finally adopt to that technology which is not in the near future.
396  Economy / Marketplace / Re: How can we encourage local businesses to accept BTC? on: November 05, 2017, 04:59:25 PM
I am looking to help move BTC forward into our economy more and would like to get some suggestions on how we can get more retailers to accept BTC as a payment.  The best part about accepting BTC is that they do not have any threat of charge-back from the customer.  I am just looking for some more input before I start approaching some of these local retailers.

If you are really serious in your intention of involving bitcoins into your countries economy then it would really take a lot of effort, You need to show them the advantage and disadvantage of bitcoins and set up a meeting to present your intentions, It was like convincing them to follow your desire.

Obviously he is not going to be able to do that much. There are famous celebrities like Dennis Rodman and DJ Khaled who have advertised a certain ICO. Did they change at all the economy of their country in terms of becoming a more cryptocurrency friendly country? I think not. Even famous celebrities haven't made that much change in the bitcoin world. It will take a lot more than a couple of celebrities promoting cryptocurrencies. It takes having bitcoin go mainstream in order for bitcoin to be commonly accepted by the merchants in the market. Even when he seriously have the intention to change something in their economy, he is still limited with the things that he can do. Unless he has millions of bitcoins, I'm afraid but he's not going to be able to do much.

Only thing he can do so far is to accept bitcoin in his own local business and start the change that he is looking for. Even though it wouldn't be as significant, it's still something and something is much better than nothing at all.
397  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should I Wait or Invest On Bitcoin? on: November 05, 2017, 04:35:01 PM
It's kind of risky right now because this is the highest bitcoin has ever gone. On the other hand, there's a possibility that the price of bitcoin will never go lower than this. There's just no way of finding out if this is going to be the lowest price you can come up with. If you truly believe that bitcoin will be a success in the future, you wouldn't mind buying right now. You know that bitcoin is going to go much higher than this price so a couple of hundred dollars difference from the current price wouldn't be that big of a deal. Another thing, it wouldn't be that much of a difference to be honest because the price is so much higher. It's not like you're going to be able to double the amount of bitcoin you're about to buy if you wait a little more.
398  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do Banks fear cryptocurrency on: November 02, 2017, 01:42:25 PM
From the point-of-view of crypto-lovers, we think that banks should fear cryptocurrency because cryptocurrencies offer a lot better things than that of the banks. We think that a decentralized network is a lot better and that's true. That's true for us, the crypto-users. We also think that cryptocurrencies are going to be the future because we are making money from it and the community is growing continuously. On the other hand, banks don't fear cryptocurrencies. Why? Because they know that the masses are still not ready for it. They know that people are still very unsure about things on the Internet and their first reaction about bitcoin is it's a scam. Just last week, bitcoins were on the news in my country and the first line they said was that bitcoin is a scam. They are at least filtering out the "sheeps" or the people that wants to try bitcoins but are a little scared to do so.
399  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are you surprise by bitcoin price now? on: November 02, 2017, 01:21:36 PM
Not really, to be honest. I just converted 0.05BTC and it felt like a normal thing to do. Unlike back then when the price skyrocketed to $1300 from around $500-$600, I was so excited and can't even shut up about it. Today, the price increase is kind of expected because it has been like this for days now. Bitcoin is slowly increasing and then increases at significantly at some point.

If anything, I'm actually upset because most of my money is in altcoins. I end up being a bagholder of coins that I'm kind of unsure of. I hope this bitcoin price increase will stop so we can all get back some of our investments from altcoins.
400  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin may not be number one for long on: November 02, 2017, 09:20:30 AM
Cryptocurrency market is unpredictable its impossible to know for sure. I admit that sooner or later there will probably be some altcoin that will beat Bitcoin.

Will 7 years count as enough time for your "sooner or later" for you. There's litecoin out there and it has been right from the start. It's better than bitcoin in some aspects but we don't see it coming near bitcoin. It's only recently when litecoin has received some light. Before that, it stayed quiet. Altcoins are just slightly better than bitcoin. That slight increase in technology is not enough to throw bitcoin away from its throne. That's why altcoin developers just accepted it and started to have a target market instead of having to try to beat bitcoin. Some coins were made for the purpose of gambling. Some are made for an even more anonymous transaction. And there are some that was made for a cheaper and faster transaction. On the other hand, bitcoin is the base currency of all cryptocurrency. Even with these advances in technology, bitcoin will still not be replaced and the proof will be it's still not replaced right now.

It will either take a huge leap in technology for bitcoin to be overthrown or bitcoin will have to destroy itself for bitcoin to be not number one for long.
