381  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTB] Ledger bitcoin wallet. ( Hardware wallet ). on: September 10, 2015, 03:59:16 AM
i wouldn't buy a used one, for the above mentioned reasons. I do own one, and I'm very happy with it. they released a smaller cheaper version too IIRC...I think it sells for around $40.

do yourself a favour and get a brand new one right from the company. you'll sleep better at night.
382  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTS] 5 troy Oz. 999 silver Commemorative Disney Coin on: September 10, 2015, 03:51:29 AM
This is a very neat 5 oz Silver round indeed, and I agree with everyone above me- do not attempt to clean it. It already looks to be in pretty great condition as it is, as far as the proof surfaces themselves not being flawed; the capsule is scratched but not a big deal as it could be replaced most likely.

If you don't have any luck with a sale here I know some people who would probably be interested, though they would probably not want to pay a full Bitcoin, or ~$225 for it. I'm not saying it's not worth that either- collector value is everything.

they do pop up on ebay for anywhere between $200-250 so that's my reasoning for the price. I'm not sure i want to let it go for less than that, silver is suffering these days, and i think it will eventually turn around. Also I like Dopey.

anyways, i would consider including insured shipping in the asking price, if that helps...
383  Economy / Goods / Re: WTS Soylent 1.4 & 1.5 on: September 10, 2015, 03:44:04 AM
ive been watching this soylent company for a while, i like the idea.

I hear it gives you terrible gas, but they say you still poop normal... I'm more worried about my teeth. chewing is important.

there's a guy (maybe a few) who have been 100% living on soylent for a while now, maybe around a year?

if they are still in good health in 5 years ill try it.

also, I've been saying soylent and btc are a good match for a while. too bad you only deliver within the USA.

good luck
384  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I love Google. on: September 10, 2015, 12:29:09 AM
None of the messages you shared even hint at the reason why they closed your account, let alone mention Bitcoin.

I think you need to give us more proof that Google shutdown your wallet due to bitcoin transactions. It seems REALLY unlikely that using a Google wallet to buy Bitcoin would be a reason for them to shut you down. They're not in the business of stifling options, creativity or innovation...in fact they are a business that operates under the opposite objective. Plus, Google sits in the heart of Silicon Valley, one of the central locations for Bitcoin success!

Pictures or didn't happen...

Google routinely shuts down accounts at the slightest hint of the possibility of violation of their ToS. Adsense is the worst. Apparently any adsense account making more than 5000 monthly (yes it is possible to make this kind of money with adsense, it just puts you in their crosshairs) gets scuppered without any hope for appeal. go to their forums, there are hundreds of pages of users crying "WHY???" no one even gets an answer from them.

when you consider that google has over a billion users a few accounts getting v& is nothing to them. their thinking is "better safe than sorry" but all that means for us is, the consumer is expendable.

i hate google
385  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is safer? Blockchain.info with 2fa or freshly wiped online comp w/ multibit on: September 09, 2015, 11:21:56 PM
As you can see OP, security is a hot topic with many layers and depth to cover just as there are so many opinions. You can spend forever learning all the various angles and arguing this n that.
You are running Linux, that's a plus, and you are taking precautions and scoping stuff out. I'd say, if your just looking for temporary security before you go even more secure, do the multi it with a ridiculously complex password that is handwritten on paper. Then avoid browsing the web on that computer until you can get a hardware wallet.
If you aren't surfing and keying in that pw then you have nothing to fear.
In the mean time get yourself a ledger hardware wallet. They are cheap, easy to use, and safe as milk.
Then you can relax and use your computer like normal.

Keep the multi it as your hot wallet.

Frankly, hacks are fairly rare. We just hear all about them cause people like to shout
386  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Visa, Capital One Back $30 Million Round for Blockchain Startup Chain on: September 09, 2015, 11:06:01 PM
Well, that's impressive, I guess, it's just, seems every week we hear some big announcement like this, for a few years even, but btc doesn't really seem to be any more used or even valuated than before. Are all these startups failures? Most startups do fail, about 10% succeed, in any industry.

I don't really get it. Hopefully in a few months time we might see all this VC money bear fruit. A btc explosion would be nice Smiley
387  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If *someone* is stressing BTC... Do you support stressing *someone*? on: September 09, 2015, 10:59:37 PM
Does anyone actually use coinwallet? I wouldn't not after this BS. In fact the community should promote a total boycott. It's not enough to just ignore them, hit em where it hurts, in their wallet

Any info as to why it is so difficult for AM to get a PR team (or person) set up? They can manage to do quite a bit behind the scenes, you would think a guy who posts updates regularly wouldnt be an issue.

Quote from: jdany on November 21, 2014, 11:38:44 PM
Is there a person selected already - or is there a search still underway?

In a nutshell, the explanation for communication issues is that no clear guideline exists on which information should be released at which time and in which format. So the topic has been dealt with half-assed and procrastinated ad infinitum, and frankly FC had bigger issues to deal with than inform everybody how many problems pop up on a daily basis. That said, AM may still be the most transparent mining device supplier on the market, simply due to the need to disclose financial statements.

Yes - a person has been selected to implement a technical solution. But unless a clear information policy and schedule has been worked out it's exchanging apples for apples. I'll do my best to keep the issue alive and hopefully we can agree on something like a transparent policy guideline which doesn't preclude surprise vectors.

391  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-09-08] Bitcoin Association To Push Virtual Currency Awareness By Using VC on: September 08, 2015, 12:03:31 PM
It's the old "money talks" argument, and it is the best argument.

When people get excited about some idiot like Asshat Kutcher tweeting about btc I just shake my head. The only voice of authority we need, the only voices that actually matter, are informed insiders with proven financial track records. People who know how to make money are worth listening to. Actors musicians and sports stars... Tend to be mostly dumb about everything except their own occupation. F@&$ mike Tyson. Punch drunk idiot. I want money guys telling me about money.
Finally

What is the "ballpark" price you looking to get for this?!?!?

This is where OP merely points above the score board in Center field
393  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-09-07] CT - UPS Exec Dreams of a Bitcoin Future on Corporate Blog on: September 08, 2015, 11:08:56 AM
Good! He's probably pro btc because WU hates it so much. Corporate culture is basically middle school politics. Doesn't matter, if he can see btc in his business model, he's going to win!
394  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: South Korean Law Enforcement to Launch Investigations on Altcoin Pump-and-Dump on: September 08, 2015, 11:02:33 AM
The main problem bringing justice to frauds is getting the money back. It's hard enough to track down the perps, prove what they did. Getting even a dime back... Impossible. What's the penalty for fraud in South Korea? Firing squad?
I've lost more than I care to mention to btc frauds. One has even been caught and fined. They still haven't been able to do a disbursement yet. And that's in the USA.

There's also ASICminer, Fried cat is apparently being investigated by the Chinese if they can even find him. (Probably won't) At least I feel good knowing that if they do... Firing squad!

The whole story just sounds like typical cop propaganda

Seconds... Only a couple thousand of them....

He means "seen by the network" and he's talking to noobs.
Non event here. Moving along
396  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why My Businesses Won't Be Using a Bitcoin PSP Like Coinbase on: September 08, 2015, 10:33:51 AM
You betcha
Well said and it's been said before.
There's a giant industry growing around the basic fear people have of taking matters into their own hands. I say Stockholm Syndrome! The banking complex has trained most people to believe they absolutely cannot mange their own basic financial needs. And yes, btc is designed to work around the existing system giving everyone autonomy in the process.
Still, the masses hesitate. In time they will learn. A few more "crisis" and the balance will shift. And the shift will be for good.
That's when we will see a true leap towards the moon.

It amazes me when fairly deeply committed bitcoiners here come in and say stuff like "is there a button I can get to enable btc tips on my blog" and other users say "yeah, change tip" or "bit pay man" but not a single one says "just put your receiving address there"
And these are guys that have been here for YEARS

Too many opportunists trying to mimic the banks
Trying to be middle men
It's sad really

Good post OP
Good post!
397  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Up to date? on: September 08, 2015, 10:01:22 AM
You've gotten good answers to most of your questions already.

Best wallet? For 5k worth btc I would invest in (or ask your patron to invest in for you) a hardware wallet. Ledger works fine IMHO and is cost-efficient. Never put large amounts in an online wallet.

Where to fit in as a pro gambler? If you gamble with btc try the gambling section of btc talk here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=56.0
You will have to read a bit and do your research... See what the community there says. I don't gamble myself, but I know that with a little time invested lurking such threads you will get a pretty good idea who is a troll who is a shill and who is legit.

And do keep us updated with your progress, although by the looks of it, you're doing just fine with csgo

If it ain't broke, don't fix it, am I right?

One more thing. STAY AWAY FROM THE SECURITIES section! The only faster way to lose everything is to try cloud mining.

Good luck man
398  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Introduction Magnus Julius Crassus on: September 08, 2015, 09:34:18 AM

 Good Day citizens of Bitcointalk!

My name is Magnus Julius Crassus ,

I am here mainly to help people get the tiny coins they need , I will personally try to help as much as I can ( with the little funds I have) and distribute it to as many people as I can.

First stop will be getting some small amount of funds ( around 10-20 $) and distribute here with 10 cents or 5 cents to each person. By the reaction of the public it will move on and evolve as per publics requests to changes of the idea.

First we get the money...

What's your motive? What's in it for YOU?

I don't get it.

There have been Santa clause bitcoiners who do random giveaways. Mostly on reddit
But those guys were whales to begin with. You don't even have 20 bucks.

Oh well, I like your enthusiasm. Send me a satoshi or hundred million if you ever get it together

399  Economy / Speculation / Re: quiet before the storm. $180 coming! on: September 08, 2015, 09:27:06 AM
I sure hope there's a decent sized crash. $180 coins would be welcome on my budget. But even at 240 I'm buying. Just in smaller increments. By 2020 I will probably kick myself for not going all in, but too many burns the last two years for me to be foolhardy
400  Economy / Securities / Re: Bustabit :: Own one of the most popular bitcoin casinos on: September 08, 2015, 08:31:24 AM
It's very interesting. Very much out of my league but attractive none the less. I mean, I've heard old school Atlantic City Casino insiders quoted as saying "Casinos are a tough game and it's easy to get killed financially, there's no sure thing, even for the house" but those are criminals basically so they're prolly dealing with a whole other set of logistics.

How many people do you need to run your bustabit show?

I can't buy your casino, I'm only curious, I understand if you don't feel like answering. Good luck anyways
