42  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: missing BTC in Excodus wallet on: July 03, 2017, 06:35:38 PM
Considering "broadcasting error" shown in Exodus, your transaction may not have broadcasted or it may have been send to different address(malware). Enter your BTC address in Blocktrail.com or Blockchain.info and see if your transaction was broadcasted or Bittrex has some problems. If there is a transaction shown in block explorer, then check adddress Bitcoin sent to. If not, rescan your blockchain in Exodus. If the function is not in Exodus wallet, you will have to reinstall wallet. See http://support.exodus.io/knowledge_base/topics/how-do-i-refresh-my-wallet.
43  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Blockchain.info online wallet on: July 03, 2017, 05:52:23 PM
 -snip-
Or, you could just import the BIP39 seed onto any supporting desktop wallet clients. For instance, copay. Though instead of "import from backup" you'd have to go to create a new wallet, and specify the recovery seed.

i have tried this before, generate a new wallet on blockchain.info, write down the walet recovery seed, and if you ever lose access to your wallet then you could either do it the hard way, go through all the derivation paths etc. or just import it into any supporting bitcoin wallet.

So yes, you can indeed access your coin without having access to the site, as long as you have the correct recovery seed.

So is it possible that I can import my online blockchain.info wallet into Electrum desktop wallet, use it to send and receive and it will automatically sync with the online blockchain.info wallet? or do I have to create another wallet online and then import it in Electrum, and would sync the transactions and the balance then?

If this is possible it will save me moving the coins back and forth every time I want to sell on blockchain.info

You have made a serious mistake here. You are neither "linking" your Blockchain.info wallet when importing seed into Electrum or another BIP39 supported wallet nor are you "sending" Bitcoin to another wallet. You are "IMPORTING". So, NO, you can't sell from Electrum or any other wallet DIRECTLY. If you want to sell Bitcoin, you have to login to Blochchain.info.

When you import, all your addresses and private keys corresponding to them are created. Seed/private key is a *key* to access your Bitcoin. If you compare a seed to a key to a locker, then importing your seed into another wallet means making an EXACT copy of your *key*. Therefore, as long as you don't delete your wallet in Blockchain.info, you can use it just like before.

Important: I HIGHLY recommend NOT to use 2+ wallets/softwares for same seed at the same time. It could lead to reuse of addresses and double-spend. It is absolutely not for newbies.

One a side note, Blockchain.info is NOT an exchange. They are using other services for everything beyond a "wallet".

Edit:

You can backup your bitcoin wallet address private keys from blockchain and importing it into electrum..
Try to watch this video ow to backup or exporting your private keys.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fcXePXbrI4U
And this is how to import the private key in electrum wallet http://www.thecleverest.com/importing-bitcoin-from-a-paper-wallet-into-electrum/
The paper wallet is just a sample as blockchain and import your own private keys into electrum once blockchain is down you can import it anytime in any wallet you want to recover your funds..

Blockchain.info does not support exporting private key from a hierarchical deterministic(HD) wallet. Exporting private key is only for imported keys (or addresses from your Blockchain.info old account). You have to export your seed if you want to backup your HD wallet (default wallet).

Thanks for pointing it out! But please specify more details next time to avoid confusion!
44  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Blockchain.info blocking accounts? on: July 03, 2017, 04:58:45 PM
  -snip-
Obviously running a full node yourself is going to be the most private and secure way, but blockchain.info does not store anything on their servers, therefore, if you forget your password, you can't do anything but sigh in regret of not backing it up properly.
What steps are involved in running my own full node?

Download and install Bitcoin Core. Let it fully sync, that is, download full blockchain from peers (other nodes it is connected to). If you shutdown Bitcoin Core, you will have to download all the new blocks mined when your core wasn't active.

* Some firewalls block incoming connections to your Core and incoming connections are needed if you want to share/send blocks & transaction to other nodes. For using it as a wallet, you only need outgoing connection.

Are they are advantages aside from the one you mentioned?

Full validation - it means you will validate blocks yourself, rather than trusting a third party. You can also contribute to network by validating blocks and sharing blocks & transactions you received to other nodes (if you consider it as an advantage).

A node is usually a computer that is an exit point for blockchain ledger? I don't know what a node is with regard to blockchain; I only know of nodes as entry/exit points in non-blockchain enviroments. Please enlighten me. Thanks

No, a node is not an exit point for blockchain point because blockchain is not something nodes connect to. A blockchain is a group of valid blocks and blocks contain valid transactions and a reference to previous block.

A node is a computer which is connected to other nodes(computers) to receive/send data, in case of Bitcoin, blocks and transactions. All nodes on the Bitcoin network has same blockchain. A node receives transaction and blocks from other nodes it is connected to, check if received blocks are valid according to built in consensus rules and if they are built on longest chain (chain with greatest proof-of-work). If true, node will accept it by adding those blocks on top of existing blockchain and relay those valid blocks and transaction to other nodes. If invalid, reject them.

When you sign up for blockchain.info you are given a 12 word recovery phrase, using this phrase you can import your wallet into any bip39 supporting wallet, or blockchain.info itself.
Is this known as the seed?
I don't  know what the seed/private keys actually is or means or where to loacte it within a blockchain.info wallet? Explain pls.

A seed, which is also referred to as BIP39 seed, is a set of words, usually 12 words, which is used to generate all your addresses and corresponding private keys. Private keys are instead a secret number. It can be in many formats, but to make it easier for importing, private keys are shown in wallet importing format(WIF). It either starts with 5 and is 51 characters (uncompressed) or starts with K or L and is 52 characters (compressed).

When you create an account in Blockchain.info, you will be asked to write down seed of your wallet. If you haven't written down your seed, go to "Security Center and click "Backup Phrase"(or Phrase Backup?). You will be shown 4 words at a time. Write it down in exact order without mistake. You WON'T be able to recover your wallet if there is a misspell, misplace of word or wrong word in your written "seed". I also read somewhere it your seed is only shown once, so be "extra" sure when backing up if this the case. I haven't completed all steps, so I am not sure about it. If you are afraid of loosing your seed, don't complete the process and only write down your seed and close the window. Do it once more to verify if your seed is EXACTLY same (order, words & spellings) as shown.

If you have more than one wallet, you need to find out which seed is needed for which addresses. For that, click "Settings" -> "Addresses" -> "Manage". To see used addresses, click "Show" in "Used Addresses" section and click "Ok" when warning is shown. See https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1994189.msg19906492#msg19906492 for images. Give him a tip if it's helpful! Wink

If blockchain.info closes shop or gets wiped out I will always be able to access my blockchain wallet elsewhere?

Yes. You will be able to recover Bitcoin in your addresses related to the seed you have. If you have seed of wallet #1 and want to recover wallet #2, you won't be able to do it! Seed of wallet #1 only recovers addresses and private keys in wallet #1. So triple-verify whenever you do something!

Please correct me if I am wrong or tell me if I missed any! If you have seen familiar text here, it is not a copy-paste. I wrote what I understood. But it is possible some statements may have been similar or even same and it is probably because I used their* posts as reference to verify if what I said is correct and may have been influenced by their words/statements or writing style when I wrote..

I've PM'ed theymos yesterday with the correctly formatted proof - how long does he typically take to reply?

I had to PM him a few years ago when my account was locked because of the forum database hack and never got a response. (It was a valid request)

Badbear fixed my problem in a day or so but from what i see, he is no longer an admin of the forum.

Only an admin can restore your account and I don't know if there are any other admins other than theymos.

46  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Armory 0.96 is out on: July 03, 2017, 07:44:00 AM
I upgraded to Armory .96 and now my Armory wallet never goes "online". it always says "offline"

I uploaded Bitcoin core (.14) and sync'd it as well. I tried opening Bitcoin core and still nothing?

Ideas?

Without logs no one could help you.

Ok, fair enough how do I retrieve my log? (i am a complete newbie to this).

look at C:/Users/your_user_name/AppData/Roaming/Armory   folder. It is over there. Use pastebin online service to present log content here

Alternative: Open Armory, click 'File' -> 'Export Log File'.

* it is still there, right?

50  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: What are the websites to read the news about cryptocurrency? on: July 03, 2017, 04:27:49 AM
Do note that not all of the articles in those sites are true. Don't blindly believe anything/everything they say. Do your own research!
51  Other / Meta / Re: How can I avoid red trust? on: July 03, 2017, 04:08:29 AM
  -snip-
How can I avoid it completely?,

Don't do anything to get negative trust feedback. Scamming, spamming, excessive trolling are plagiarism are some of them. As to which deserve negative trust and which don't vary from person to person. But users in DT trust list won't do anything "excessive". Else, they will be removed.

And in the other hand, how can one receive positive trust  from default members or anybody?
  -snip-

Be honest, contribute to forum and successful transaction. Point it out if I missed any!
This spamming, is it when you give a short sentence but not up to20 characters, or is it just like "hi, bye"etc?

There is no "minimum" length for a post. It depends on the thread or the post you are replying to even if it is just a word, like "yes". You won't get a red trust for spamming/trolling unless you do it a "big" way.

I forgot to tell you that posting referral links to ponzis or add it into your signature or encourage/advertise ponzi sites in any other way will get you negative trust feedback.

I think most people's red trust stems from asking for a loan with no collateral

You will get it if you are Jr. Member and below or if you don't have any successful deals and you ask a loan of high amount with no collateral. If you got negative trust feedback for loan with no collateral as a Newbie, over time, it can be removed or at least, changed to neutral.
Does it mean a member rank and above must have a collateral before asking for loan? And what kind of thing can be used as collateral before or after receiving the loan Huh

No. You can ask for loans without collateral if you had successful trades or if amount needed is very small.

Collateral - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=577765.0

I highly recommend you to read ALL stickies in ALL boards you are participating.
52  Other / Meta / Re: Stake your Bitcoin address here on: July 03, 2017, 03:48:38 AM
So it means even if you put/stake your Bitcoin address here that doesn't mean that you'll get your account 100% back so this might be meaningless doing this thread. The admin of this site should make a recovery function of this site like facebook or gmail, so if they lost, forgot or their account was compromised they can easily recover it by using their recovery email or recovery phone number and to make it more secure add some security questions. This might save them from verifying their accounts to the mods that might not get confirmed.

If you forget your password, you can recover with your email and security question is also available. You can only recover your account if it's hacked or due to other problems, if you can prove ownership of a Bitcoin/PGP address you have posted. Staking Bitcoin address(or PGP) here is just to make a "reference" when you send a signed message.
53  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Using multiple addresses and single address. on: July 02, 2017, 06:13:02 PM
The fee is usually proportional to the size of the transaction.   If there are a lot of sources that you got bitcoins from, to make a transaction, the fee will be higher.   Its hidden in the background, but it sums up all the inputs needed to get to the desired amount.
Now i understand why i am still having large fee in every transaction because of using other bitcoin address in the same time..
I thought that it could not affected my transaction because i am also using electrum and receiving bitcoin in other bitcoin address in the same wallet account.. So i think choosing 1 single bitcoin address is a good idea if you don't want to pay a lot.. because almost all address in my electrum wallet address was used already.. do you think there are some console or command to merge all bitcoin address in single address?

Using many addresses and 1 addresses won't make much any(?) difference in transaction size and hence, fees. Read the post above yours!

You can't merge Bitcoin addresses. You can however, send all of your bitcoins to a new address. You can either send it all in a transaction or send it in 2 or more transaction according to your transaction size. Remember that if you include unspent transaction outputs(UTXO) from different addresses in a transaction and someone know one of your addresses, you are essentially saying that you have control over all these addresses.
54  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How to prove that a multi-sig-addresses (starting with 3) belongs to someone on: July 02, 2017, 05:20:42 PM
thanks to all, folks!!!
at last i've got it.
the principal issue was i only get 1 of 3 private keys.
i've to got the private key from trustedcoin in order to get 2 of 3.
and at the end i've understand what all you wanted transmit to me.
thanks again for your support.

AFAIK, Electrum 2FA creates a 2-of-3 multisig wallet with 1 in Trustedcoin's control and 2 in yours. If you have followed HCP's post, you should get two extended private keys(xprv) and you could generate address needed using them. So, did you do something wrong? Or did you really only got 1 extended private key(xprv)? Huh
55  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Remote desktop on: July 02, 2017, 04:28:57 PM
Well i don't use the same apps as you.

But you can use Teamviewer like me and it works like a charm to remote control my rig, unless Internet goes down.  Grin

Looking to have remote access to my rig as well.  Any cost for Teamviewer?  Just checked out the site really quick and can see it has what I'm looking for...windows support as well as android.
Teamviewer is really good you can just install it and use it into your computer desktop, but I don't think that it can also use in android.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teamviewer.teamviewer.market.mobile

It also supports iOS, but obviously, you can't control it remotely from other devices.
56  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] ChipMixer - mixing reinvented on: July 02, 2017, 04:12:44 PM
  -snip-

I love your explanation here, and it's pretty much dead on aside from one part: the assumption that both chains won't be valuable. There's really no way to tell what's going to happen yet. Both chains could theoretically retain the same value (which we'd assume would be halved, such that they are each combined to equal what it's worth now). BTC's split is going to be vastly different from Eth's.

Thanks! TBH, if that really happened, I think Bitcoin might loose many users. Hope it won't happen and even if it did, hope won't deprecate Bitcoin'a value. By value, I mean value as in esconomy and society and so forth.. Not exchange rate.

  -snip-
(removed for short quote)
Great post.

Thanks!

About not working video - it is a placeholder for upcoming animation that will show how ChipMixer works. It is not ready yet, we have released new layout without it.

I think you should just remove the placeholder altogether until video is created. Or at least, add a short note saying video is not ready yet or something like that to avoid confusion.
57  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Macintosh multi coin wallets on: July 02, 2017, 09:48:48 AM
For OSX Electrum is the answer.

For iOS I use FreeWallet (https://freewallet.org/). Not ideal, but way more universal and stable than any competitors (tried 10+ different apps).

how many coins does electrum support?

Only 1. Bitcoin. There are other altcoin forks, but afaik, there isn't any Electrum wallet with multiple currencies.
58  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Seed preservation on: July 02, 2017, 09:32:33 AM
Just memorize it, shouldn't be too hard with 12 words.

Repeat it everyday.

http://www.memory-improvement-tips.com/best-memory-trick.html

That's a sure fire way to lose your seed lol. Ideally you won't be using the seed unless something bad happens so trying to repeat it everyday is a lot of wasted effort, plus you are bound to eventually forget about it and that's when you'll need the seed.

Nah, be "Sherlock Holmes"!  Cool

off topic

However as someone above me mentioned, i don't think that the youtube video works yet? It's just an image i think, if you click on it nothing ahppens.

Yes, it is just an image.

On reddit there are a lot of criticism, i don't think it's fair. First of all, chipmixer does not know who uses their provably fair betting service as a way to timelock coins to basically bypass future restrictions(potentially), therefore even if they wanted to extort someone they don't know who to target. Secondly, chipmixer has spent already at least 5-10 btc on advertising and is probably going to spend a lot more in the future, and i don't even think that people are going to send more than 1 btc into their multisig address. I really do think that chipmixer is trying to offer a genuine service to the benefit of the community here.

A user may not deposit a big amount, maybe 10 BTC at a time. And yes, if they have spent more than 10 BTC as cost, then stealing it won't make sense. At best, they would break-even, which also doesn't make sense. However, you are only talking about it in the perspective "1 user deposit x amount". What you must consider is that if every user deposit 1 BTC each, it going to be a big amount. If there are looking for short-term profit, they might as well steal them.* So it is not hard to understand many of them are against ChipMixer's service because they just don't have enough trust.

* I am not saying ChipMixer will actually steal from you! I don't have any particular comment on whether they will steal or not. Anyway, you should never trust *any* online service with money more than you can afford to lose.
