1022  Other / Meta / Re: Unofficial list of (official) Bitcointalk.org rules, guidelines, FAQ on: June 27, 2015, 10:22:14 AM
4. No referral code (ref link) spam.

If i introduce an english service by translating in my language, and if i give my ref link, is it a spam?

IMHO it will be spam.

2. No off -topic posts.

Some posts may not be related with the OP but it may be related the post which in the thread. Is it off topic?

It won't be deleted if the post contributes to that thread. If the post in that thread which you replied to is deleted, then your post will be off-topic and will be deleted too.
1023  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How do I become an escrow? on: June 27, 2015, 10:00:06 AM
Is there a list of approved escrows on this forum?

there is this thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=108716.0
don't know if its been updated recently though.

 -snip-

It is not upto-date. See new one : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=855778.0.

i hope moderator Lock that thread and create 1 official escrow list
escrow is important to help us from avoid scams

There must not be any official escrow list because if one of the user in the list scams another user, forum will have to take that responsibility. In other words, there should not be any vouch to particular user from the forum to avoid potential big problems.

The number of private keys in the universe is very big, and I've done the following calculation:
My computer have a hashrate of 4 MH/s, and it generate 650K private keys per second on vanitygen, so the estimation of private keys that can be generated by ALL the current hashing power in the world (let them be 400 PH/s for easy calculation), then the WHOLE world generate 6.5*10^16 private keys per second, compared to there are 2^160 (about 1.5*10^48) private keys that would ever exist and the 10^10 keys that may present if 10^9 people using 10 keys, then the whole world needs 4*10^22 seconds, or 1.3*10^15 years to generate a private key that someone owns, not to mention they are empty or not. So generating a duplicate private key is almost impossible.

1027  Other / Meta / Re: Nominate (insert name here) to the default trust list on: June 27, 2015, 09:21:51 AM
@JerryCurlzzz: Do you know what default trust list is? It is a list of people whose judgments can be trusted. Trusting your money with them is a different thing. Someone who does not have any trade history most probably will not be in default trust list.

-snip-
My (admittedly limited) dealings with noobs on this forum lead me to believe they don't research reputation deeply at all. But they love dat green trust. I'm fully in favor of abolishing the Default Trust system and letting users build their own webs of trust, without artificial weighting that is often plagued with personal vendettas and double standards.
 -snip-

New users don't know whom to trust and whom not to. Such users need a temporary list and that is what default trust list is. Once you know more about it, you can start adding or removing users from your trust list but we should not be forcing them to change trust list.

1029  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why do islam hates people? on: June 27, 2015, 08:38:33 AM
If you talking about jizya. Then let me tell you that this is for the protection of minorities and you pay tax to your government if jizya is wrong then this is also wrong. Isn't?

Complete BS. Protection of the minorities is not the responsibility of the minorities themselves, but it is the responsibility of each and every individual living in a particular country. What is happening with Jizya (جزية‎) is that only the minorities have to pay this form of tax, while the Muslims don't have to contribute anything. This places a double burden on the shoulders of the minority community members.

‘If God gives us victory, the people of the covenant will be protected. They have rights promised to them by God. It is the strictest covenant God has made incumbent on any of His prophets. They are also held by the duties that it places upon them and must not violate it. If they are conquered, they will live comfortably with everything due to them. I am commanded to exempt from jizya the elderly who cannot work, the disabled, or the poor who receive charity from their own community. The treasury will provide for them and their dependants as long as they live in Muslim lands or in the communities of Muslim emigrants. If they move outside of Muslim lands, neither they nor their dependants shall be entitled to any benefits.’ - Abu Yusuf, Kitab al-Kharaj, p. 155-156

Following people do not need to pay Jizyah:

  • Women
  • Minors
  • The aged people
  • Those who were out of work or were chronically sick or crippled
  • Lunatics
  • Monks
  • Any disabled person whether he has mental or physical disability
  • Financially incapable persons
  • If a non-Muslim rendered an important service to the country, he is exempted from paying the Jizyah for the life time. During the caliphate of Umar Ibn El-Khattab, the second righteous caliph, may Allah be pleased with him, a non-Muslim Egyptian laid before the Islamic government the project of cleaning and re-digging the ancient canal named, Nahr Amir al-Muminin, from Cairo down to the red sea which would facilitate the transportation of food stuff from Egypt to Medina, the capital. Umar, may Allah be leased with him, exempted the man from paying the Jizyah throughout his life.

1. Jizyah is paid in lieu of exemption from military service:- It is a financial substitute for military service and it is levied only on every non Muslim fit for combat. A non-Muslim is never asked to fight with the Islamic army against his will so he pays the Jizyah as a compensation for not performing the military service. It is also a contribution to the expenses of the state defense and protection similar to the now called defense tax.

The clearest incidence in history to prove this was when Abu Ubaidah, May Allah be pleased with him, knew that the Romans were gathering troops to regain Syria from the Muslims, he returned the Jizyah money and announced that: “We have returned your money back to you because we have been informed of the gathering of enemy troops. You people, according to the conditions stipulated in the contract, have obliged us to protect you. Since we are now unable to fulfill these conditions, we are returning your money to you. We will abide by the conditions as agreed upon if we overcome the enemy.” (Related by Abu Yusufin Al-Kharaj)

2. Jizyah is paid in lieu of exemption from paying zakah:- A payment in return for the public services in the state (like today’s tax that we pay the government but only much less than what we pay now…) in which the non Muslim is living like courts, roads...etc. Muslims too contribute in these public services by their paying of Zakat and other alms that are obligatory on the Muslim.

Also note that, 1400 years ago, Muslims had to deal with many battles that were imposed upon them. They also had to deal with many betrayals done by other tribes who broke their peace treaties with the Muslims and joined as alliance with other enemy tribes and fought the Muslims.

{...} while the Muslims don't have to contribute anything. {...}

Muslims have to give zakah.

Yes shariah  told us suppose if you have one bottle water and you have to do waddu for prayer....and there is a people  who is want water then it is your duty to give them a water and make waddu with mud.....
Islam give right to women...!!!

Islam told you that this is your mother and this is your sister....These womens are haram for you...!!!

In muslims countries their is a right for non muslims to perform thetir religious activities  which is  described by Shariah...

That is nice to know. I grew up in a system where women are born automatically with the rights you are describing. No need for a verbal or written contract. Mother Nature has found a way to make me automatically haram to my own mother and my sisters, so I am good on that level too, and that was true with my father and the father of my father... They never heard of sharia laws either to act the way they acted as they were gentlemen...

Water is free (nature) where I grew up, so no one had to ask for it. In more desert places of course water is expensive and rare so I understand why it is a big deal to offer it.

I have one more thing to ask you if you may: what is Jizya?

Dear you didnt get my point ....
Im talking about when there is no sufficient water then our shariah derived this condition....These are the rights of non muslims...they are free in Muslims majority countries to perform their religious activities......these all are lame excuses that you raised....Dear dnt blame religion of any person...

Is that (bolded) actually true?

Is it only true of "people of the book?"

For all.

1033  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Five Things the Media Gets Wrong About Bitcoin on: June 27, 2015, 07:19:21 AM
Five things media gets wrong about Bitcoin:

1. Bitcoin isn’t real money.
2. Bitcoin is only for the black market.
3. Bitcoin is illegal.
4. Bitcoin is just a bubble.
5. It’s too late to get involved with Bitcoin.

well thry are all wrong

1 because real money isn't something that is established by one entity(they are still to accustomed to the fiat scam) but by supply and demand, nothing else

2 this isn't true at all seeing how newegg, microsoft and dell are accepting it, are they black market? fud 100%

3 well no it isn't it just appear that in some country isn't regulated because they don't know how to view it, if as commodities or currency or another thing

Some countries regulate because Bitcoin can replace banks if all people started using it. So they started regulating it for their merit. I am not against regulating but things like NY BitLicense is worse than worst.

4 if it was just a bubble it should've returned to it's original price, instead we are still at a good value

5 this is relative, it's never too late if the price will get bigger in the future

Its never too late as long as Bitcoin exists.
1034  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: CloudThink.IO removed management pictures after being caught with stealing on: June 27, 2015, 07:06:57 AM
I think John(or whatever his IRL name is) is not directly involved in those scams.

if you like him, you can "invest" few bucks and had your own video, he will tell to camera everything:))

https://www.fiverr.com/websitevideo/be-your-video-spokesperson

yeah sure, he is just puppet speaking to his fancy HD camera about everything, you just need to pay him. no morale, no ethics..nothing. this is how people make money these days.. Sad

Well, I think he don't know what he is doing. Unfortunately, most people are like that. They only check their work but they don't check what their work is used for which is the thing they should check first. If their work and pay are good, they do it. The world we are living in is like that.
1035  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: OVERVIEW: BITCOIN HARDWARE WALLETS █████████████████ Secure your Coins on: June 27, 2015, 06:56:32 AM
Was looking at the ledger while looking for more info about trezor months ago.

Does anyone know if the blue exists yet?
[[ img]https://i.imgur.com/LZaHp5J.png[/img]

You can check in OP about the status of development. Ledger Blue is under development.

-snip-

i would estimate that it will cost 20-40 Euro/Dollar. no firmware updates would be cool indeed.

That price range is very reasonable, I hope that it is priced so.

As a general rule, simplicity is something I admire and like in such products.  Firmware updates are not only a hassle (mild, we hope), but introduce risks, I believe some people had problems with a Trezor firmware update (I did not do the update).  "A BTC wallet for the rest of us!"

Not always. Sometimes updating firmware are mandatory. For example, if a flaw is found, you should update firmware to prevent any possible attacks. If it doesn't allow firmware updates, you will need to buy a new one with latest firmware if such a thing happen. IMHO making firmware update as optional is better than no firmware update.

If I were to download Armory again on the laptop where it stopped, how do I recover the wallet and its contents.

If I have Armory running on another computer, can I perform a recover on a wallet on this laptop based on the root key printed back up?

Yes. Click "Import or Restore Wallet" in Armory -> "Single-sheet backup" and follow the steps.

thanks

I have the armory log files but they are too long to post here

Copy and paste it inside 'code' tags and post here or save it on http://en.m.textsave.org and give us the link.

Medias always get wrong about many things. It's quite natural and nowadays, it is one of the main parts of medias. Roll Eyes

5. It’s too late to get involved with Bitcoin:

 -snip-

Another thing is that most medias tell "Bitcoin is costly and is too late" because they think a person need to have 1BTC to do something(that's what I get from their words). In fact, if a person want to send $50 worth of Bitcoins, he/she doesn't need to buy 1BTC, instead, Bitcoins equivalent to $50.02(incl. fee) is enough. I don't understand what they mean by the term "Bitcoin is costly" or why they say it. Huh

1040  Other / Meta / Re: Activity confusion on: June 27, 2015, 05:12:56 AM
Do i understand it correctly that when someone is posting one post each week between two tuesdays, that he will get 1 activity point and 13 potential activity points, so that when the user would post 40 times in week three then he would get a total of 42 activity points and would have 42 posts.

I think "week three" in your post is a mistake. It should be "period three" or "week six".

If what I said above is correct, then yes. That user will have 42 posts and 42 activity.

Does it matter where you post?

No.

And in a week you never can get more than 14 activity points when you dont have potential ones?

Yes.
