261  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Today, one year after Hal Finney's Death on: August 29, 2015, 07:20:24 AM
He was a great man! His life is truly inspiring!

Never knew about him, but thanks to OP, now know who he was.
RIP Hal, may you be happy wherever you are.

Huh
262  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is safer? Blockchain.info with 2fa or freshly wiped online comp w/ multibit on: August 29, 2015, 07:03:08 AM
Personally, I'd choose Blockchain.info. It isn't the most secure method, but it's never been hacked before (apart from a key generating bug, which was patched and all BTC was returned). No BTC is stored with them, all encryption is completed in your browser.

Your laptop is probably the safer method, because your OS can get hacked (not blockchain.info).

Interesting haha, ok, wait I am confused though I am sorry,

On the last part " Your laptop is probably the safer method, because your OS can get hacked (not blockchain.info)", are you saying that Blockchain.info is still the safer method there? or are you saying that the Laptop is safer?

Thank you, sorry.

If someone says an online wallet is safer than a local wallet. You should ignore his opinion IMHO.

Blockchain.info is a very buggy client. You should never store Bitcoins unless you are fine if it is stolen.

266  Economy / Reputation / Re: quick seller is not of to be trust on: August 29, 2015, 05:22:22 AM
there is nothing for doing wrong of me

i am pro lender

others show for jealous i am suspect

ManyProofs,

You are lending to newbies here without collateral.
We have a rule: no collateral, no loan.  And you
keep breaking the rule.

Especially with newbies, so you attract scammers
who ask for loans.

This is why we don't trust you and leave you
negative trust.

Lending to newbies without collateral is not a problem but nobody loans to newbies like he does. It is obvious borrowers are either his alts or shills. He is just trying to build trust and we who left negative trust feedback just helped him to fulfil his wish.
267  Other / Meta / Re: Effects of deleted posts? on: August 28, 2015, 09:09:02 PM
The bug or error could also be with the bot.

Maybe not.

-snip-
I checked out the timeframes and the posts in the "show posts" link and the forum really only shows 58 posts. But the profile page shows 60 posts and this number isn't dropping. The account is a member too.
 -snip-

I wonder what that means for signature campaigns. Can someone spam 20 posts, then delete it and get paid for 20 posts that don't exist but are seeable in the postcount?

Thanks!

Bots run by signature campaigns check posts to check whether it meets the criteria, so there won't be any problem.

-snip-

about the signature campaign.. assuming that they uses a bot to count post, the post count will always get reduced whenever a user deleted one of their post. it can even go from 0 to -1.

He is asking about bots which fetch post count from profile page and pays without checking posts.
268  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to verify downloaded wallet signature ? on: August 28, 2015, 08:41:47 PM
ASC file contains the PGP signature. You have to fetch PGP key of the developer who signs it, signature and app. Then, you can verify app using a PGP software!

See https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1094700.0.

Edit: https://www.torproject.org/docs/verifying-signatures.html.en explains it clearly.
269  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum - Importing specific address? on: August 28, 2015, 08:29:38 PM
You can't import private keys into an Electrum 2.x wallet with seed. If you want to import to Electrum, you will have to create a new wallet, select 'Restore wallet' and then enter private key(s).

https://electrum.orain.org/wiki/Frequently_Asked_Questions#Can_I_import_private_keys_from_other_Bitcoin_clients.3F

for the easy ways, is to import your privatekey to blockchain.info then move all your bitcoin into your wallet

You can also try  to recover it with other wallet or blockchain.info

Agree, I've also had this problem before on an earlier version of Electrum. I was however able to import it into my Blockchain wallet so did that and just moved the funds back to Electrum.

Was most probably something related to the format of the private key.

I highly recommend not to import private keys to Blockchain.info or other online wallets, if you are going to use that addresses. Anyway, as you can import private keys to Electrum, I hope you won't import it to an online wallet.

271  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: [ESHOP launched] Trezor: Bitcoin hardware wallet on: August 28, 2015, 07:49:42 PM
OK so is there any code I can use to generate the same address as my trezor on my site?

Yes. Export xpub key and generate addresses. Give one address per user. There are many plugins available for WordPress. Personally, I suggest https://wordpress.org/plugins/bitcoin-address/.

You may also want to try https://coinsimple.com.

P.S. Different accounts have different xpub key. I recommend you to create a new account to use it only for that website and export xpub key of that one.
272  Economy / Long-term offers / Re: [MUST READ] Need 10 BTC Loan... Need help, please read... on: August 28, 2015, 07:30:31 PM
Did you verify any of his stories? You do realise 'death in the family' is usually the first excuse people go to when they're having difficulties paying something back. He also seems to give the family/personal issues line for most of his previous loans. How much does he currently owe you and Marco?

Most of 'em. In case, somehow if he is scam, I can file a case. I have his personal information. Honestly, its not that hard to find his IRL identity. He does not seem like a person who thinks of his privacy to me.

-quotes-
From the looks of it, he owes MZ 1.04 and marcotheminer.5 although marcotheminer told me that he is owed ~1 BTC, so there might be another private loan.

He owes me 1.1BTC.

I think this is a very high amount for his reputation

Probably.
273  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Most Secure bitcoin wallet ? on: August 28, 2015, 07:21:32 PM
"Blockchain.info is one of the most secure one online wallets" is a factoid only. Period.
FIFY

I use a Trezor as it is one of the most secure wallets period.

FTFY.

274  Economy / Long-term offers / Re: [MUST READ] Need 10 BTC Loan... Need help, please read... on: August 28, 2015, 06:19:03 PM
Did he ever repay you? I don't see that he has posted in your thread since he got the last 0.04,

We have been in communication before I loaned him and we still are. He has been in a hard time and now its worse. No, he has not repaid it but IIRC, he proposed his accounts(except gkv9) as collateral* but I did not accept it. I don't like to farm accounts and he needs more money to repay.

* There was some terms which I don't want to disclose.

and your summary page says that the due date is "when he repays"

You are right! I am giving him as much time as possible. It would have been faster because his father was getting a job. However, the death was unfortunate!
275  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How to accept Bitcoin on a website using Electrum on: August 28, 2015, 05:21:17 PM
Can anybody point me in right direction of how ud use this electrum feature with that worpress script?  It seems like u basically would need to stop relying on block explorers like blockchain.info and instead turn urself into the one running the block explorer checks via electrum?

This script works 90 percent of the way but i never got it to run its crinjobs reliably because of stuff like cloudflare blocks, etc.

Anybody have an alternative to that plugin that a non-coder could run with a wordpress store (no middleman signups, just ur wordpress store and ur electrum wallet).  Ive seen similar plugins but theres always a middleman except for this plugin.

There is no plugin!

276  Economy / Long-term offers / Re: [MUST READ] Need 10 BTC Loan... Need help, please read... on: August 28, 2015, 05:11:31 PM
Taking out previous loans for smaller amounts doesn't in any way guarantee that you will pay a larger amount back. This could just be a classic long con. If you've already got 1btc loaned out from Marco then that is also worrying and I agree with QS that it's weird you would get such a loan in the first place without any collateral (though I'm sure he could just take it out of your signature earnings). I'm really not sure if MZ or Marco would vouch for this other than that you paid their previous small loans back.
Marco did try to vouch for him last night (I was proactively contacted about the OP by Marco). I haven't been able to verify the loan from MZ although I haven't looked into it.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=958575.msg11407115#msg11407115

This also might be relevant -- https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=750507.msg11107506#msg11107506.

One other thing I forgot to mention, the OP claims to have 4 hero accounts, also didn't try to look into it as 4 hero accounts are worth <2BTC.

He told me too! TBH, he actually told me to post from any of his accounts(except gkv9) but I refused.
277  Other / New forum software / Re: Display email address! on: August 28, 2015, 04:43:47 PM
You can display yours in your signature..if email is not hidden i'm sure lots of scammer will spam your email and you don't want that.

Email will be hidden by default. This is an optional feature.
278  Other / Meta / Re: How to find the - Last edit time of any post. on: August 27, 2015, 02:11:58 PM
There won't be any dotted line if the edit was within 10 minutes after posting.

I think you should move this to Beginners & Help and please change your title if you are doing so. Or else, your thread most probably will be hijacked by spammers.
279  Other / Meta / Re: Quickseller trust-spam; one rating removed, one to go on: August 27, 2015, 02:02:57 PM
I think it's clear that the Default Trust list is massively flawed. I hate reading stuff where people get negative trust & are labelled scammers when they just don't seem to be scammers at all.

Its not massively flawed. Only one or two bad cases are there. Now, only this one IMHO.

Can I get this right - If somebody on Default Trust puts another poster on their trust list then that person is also then added to Default Trust?

The person who adds another one should be in default trust depth 1. Else, no.

I think the only way to sort it is for bitcointalk.org to employ one poster whose only job is to patrol the forums scam busting & controlling the Default Trust list & leaving people negative trust. There are just far too many people who can ruin good posters/peoples reputations if the Default Trust list is left how it currently is.

Yes, there is one. Theymos. I don't know if BadBear has access to 'DefaultTrust' account.

P.S. Theymos is only controlling 'DefaultTrust' account. He is not a scam buster and I don't think he should be one unless he likes to. Users in default trust list is already doing a good job so far. Some people do make mistakes and sometimes, they are intentional. If they do it for more than a few times, they get removed quickly. This is not the case with QS, he is doing a great job but this one is a very exceptional. I don't know why QS is not ready to change it to neutral.

It's one big, sorry mess as far as I'm concerned, what's stopping a scammer paying somebody on Default Trust to include him/her on their trust list so they then become a Default Trust member? They could then hit somebody or some company for a lot of bitcoin. It's all a load of crap, governed & controlled by nobody in particular.

It will be reported sooner than you think. If user who included him does not remove the scammer, he will also be removed from default trust depth 1.
280  Other / Meta / Re: The reputation system here needs to be de-centralized, get rid of default trust on: August 27, 2015, 11:05:55 AM
-snip-
I think there are reasonably and concrete ways to improve the system.
 -snip-

Could you point out some?
