That's true, but as kano wrote, the expected value for any share submitted before 0.43*difficulty is greater than the expected value of any share submitted before after 0.43*difficulty.
Gah! I feel stupid. meh.... i'm sure it was just a typo.. nw

make sure all cables are seated properly. both on the cards and the fpga board.

yes 61... a bit too high but every customer have different deployment method. Looking at the running up time, at least the high end is stable or managed some how, so it's not crushing the unit.
For some reason my chain#1 on my units are the hottest not chain #4.

Just wanted to says thanks to BitmainWarranty and Yoshi. I know sometimes all you hear about are complaints, so I figured I throw in a compliment. I requested replacement fans on Thursday and got them today.
Thanks guys! Much appreciated!

OoC, I was thinking of something yesterday and not sure I can verbalize it properly. I was wondering if there was any correlation between the amount of bitcoins mined by known or unknown entities and the amount of bitcoin being sold on some exchanges. I was trying to come up with some idea for visualizing the possibility of price manipulation on the public bitcoin exchanges. Also where the bitcoin from "large" mining entities are ending up and if they are being held or traded. Not sure if something like this is up your alley. These are just some crazy ideas that pop into my head late at night when i can't sleep.
Thanks for all you do!

looks like a box of fans? amiright?

I've started getting fans to fail and I'm worried that as the warranty lapses I will need to track down a supplier of fans.
Has anyone sourced a replacement fan? Not worried about cable length, more the CFM and static pressure specs being similiar.
I've replaced a few that have already failed with some Delta afb1212vhe that i had from gpu days to replace dead gpu fans. (i know.. i know.. overkill.. but they were "free") The Deltas I have don't have pwm or tach, so would be nice to have those on any replacement.
Any ideas?
Also, what's the warranty on these? 3 months? or longer?

IS anyone familiar with which chain # relates to which set of asics physically inside the unit?
ie. where is chain 1 physically in the unit? etc for 2,3,4?

I've got a few S4 that recently started having every single share discarded. All of them started this behavior at the exact same time.
Temps are showing as 0, and all ASICs appear to be online. Any ideas? I tried reflashing the firmware, but that hasn't appeared to help.
Running through some steps to double check: 1) I assume you've done hard restarts 2) I assume your mains power is okay and unchanged. Green lights on the back of the PSUs? 3) I assume your pool is fine (what is it)? As its at least receiving shares to discard If multiple units all had exactly the same thing at once, it can only be the 2 things external to the S4s: Internet or power. There are multiple S4 at the location. about 25% of the units at this location have this problem. The other 75% are fine. The units are not local to me. I'll have to head over there tomorrow to physically power cycle them and visually confirm LEDs. Was just wondering if there was something I could do remotely to get them going again. ssh reboot didn't help. Unfortunately no. While you're there might be worth checking some of the internal power cables as they can work their way loose [bots holding them down] via vibrations. power cycle got rid of the gremlins..

We're running quite a few S4s in our DC and have yet to have a complete chain go out on us like this. Of course we've tried hard resetting, etc but are curious to know if anyone has any suggestions or experience with a complete chain failure before I open it up and check the blade cables, etc. Ensure that all cables are seated properly. Reseating the cables fixed that problem for me.

Wanna complain about 1-3 hours? Other pool: Duration since last block found: 2d 05:27:09 We complain because 1 to 3 hour blocks actually costs us BTC, I have a negative BTC balance right now in my GHASH/CEX account. How you can mine 8 blocks and have a negative BTC balance just shows what kind of unethical business practices are carried out in CEX/GHASH. GHASH is noting but a bunch of bitcoin hungry thieves. What you're describing will happen to anyone who continues to mine when it has become uneconomical to do so. The fact you have a negative balance is not impossible or even unlikely; what you need to do is explain why you think their maintenance charges are too high. For example, how many Thps do you have? How much per week are maintenance charges? Maintenance is 0.107$/GHS/month for everyone on cex.io. It is a lot but I can believe it is their actual maintenance costs. That's odd - how can you get a negative balance if the maintenance is a proportion of income? OoC, I've said this before... maffs is hard If only more miners knew how to do simple math calculations...

Did you apply for 800A service from your utility? 96 S4s will require a bit over 600A @ 220V

No problems here. Try reducing your withdrawal by 1 satoshi. Could be a rounding error. It's happened to me in the past.

More Bitcoins trade off the chain than on exchanges. The biggest deals are done off the books, not on exchanges, for obvious reasons.
....
If you talk to guys in the know, like Charlie Shrem, you'll find out that there are massive cash buyers buying Bitcoins off the chain everyday. Given Bitcoin is so illiquid, driving the price down (or up) is an easy task, especially for professional Wall Street traders.
Are you saying that bitcoins are being transfered by simply providing the private key to an address? I'm not understanding your suggestion that btc is being traded/bought "off the chain". I assume you mean the transaction is not seen on the blockchain?

OoC,
with BFL and it's assets in receivership, I'd warn miners about mining at EMC.
Maybe. I have fond memories of mining at EMC, and it was around a long time before BFL - I'm not sure it would be considered property of BFL, would it? It has come out that Josh sold EMC to BFL when he joined BFL. Think he sold it for $200K? Not sure about the amount though. As such, EMC would come under purvey/control of the receiver. Not sure how they would handle the funds of the pool if push came to shove. http://ia902308.us.archive.org/32/items/gov.uscourts.mowd.117531/gov.uscourts.mowd.117531.42.20.pdfPg. 42 - Line 20
