Are you specifically being targeted with ads for stuff? Just a little confused by the first sentence from your post.Abuse of the system or cool? Cool IMO. I've been using it to flag people doing stupid stuff in the newbie section, like "Hello post" spammers or people who necro old threads. It seems to work as a good way to get someone's attention to stop them from doing thigns like that. EDIT: Choo Choo Motherfuckers!
Well depends, if you think they are spamming to gain a good account then scam then flag em till they prove themselves I guess.
They want me to do things like go to their casino or invest in some random alt coin. Shit like that. I would definitely flag them using the trust system then if they're trying to buy rep for sketchy looking stuff.

Sounds like some exciting news, I'll be interested to see what was said after it's transcribed.

why would you want to unvote?
The chocolate ration has always been 20 grams a week. I'm clearly missing something here. I have the same exact question specifically for the OP's situation. I don't see how poll votes can matter that much. Since votes are anonymously presented on forum I presumed they were also for admin. Admin has no business what my anonymous votes are. I find this an invasion of privacy. There should be a disclaimer next to each poll: 'please be aware that admin can check your vote if they care'. FTFY Saying they can see it implies it's right in front of them when they look, it'd take a little bit of work to find it.

... "WTF, forum registration disabled?!?!?!?!?!?" The forum's registration has been disabled due to the recent hack, until theymos audits some things. ... Might want to remove that part!

Keep this alt-coin crap out of the newbie section

Hurr durr semantics A much more general use of the word currency is anything that is used in any circumstances, as a medium of exchange. In this use, "currency" is a synonym for the concept of money. I think Wikipedia defines it a little better than you do, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Currency.

You can pay people to leave negative trust, nothing is going to stop that. Is that something you're planning on doing?

Is it allowed to offer paying service to leave negative trust?
Is he selling that service? If so, please provide a link. No im not. This is just sad. Didn't think so. I skimmed over the thread and I'm on your side with that one, I'll throw a negative trust rating at the first sign of red flags like that then remove it later. It's a great way to get someone's attention.

Maybe people will stop trying to get USD out of Gox now... but probably not, I bet we'll continue to see new threads about not being able to get funds out for months to come.

Earlier today I added a post updating a thread which has been going since March and was recently revived by another poster. My post https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=155472.msg3402862#msg3402862 was deleted by a moderator, and I was wondering if anybody could suggest why? I thought hard and can see no reason for its deletion, so I reposted it. Is this an acceptable action? I am sort of assuming it was deleted by mistake, I wouldn't want to get in trouble or anything? I don't see any reason for that post to be deleted, maybe it was a mistake?

why would you want to unvote?
So you've never changed your mind?

It won't.
^^ A day or two ago, someone created a topic that was almost the exact same as the first topic listed in Meta.

Moderators don't have that kind of power, only admins do.
Though I really doubt that it will get done, because if they do it for you then they have to do it for everyone.

Of course the trust feature does has its downfalls. But I think it can be useful if users actually do some research on the people who have left the feedback. That way they will find out if they are deemed trustworthy to themselves or not.
People should make their own trust list. This is definitely the best way to use it!
