Phillip how many watts are you pulling at 1300 gh/s?
402  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Review] Bitmain Antminer S5 - A wonderfully modable and well performing miner on: January 15, 2015, 04:07:33 AM
Hmm, Bitmain has removed several items from the web interface I considered quite useful with the Antminer S3:

(a) Cronjobs are only available via SSH or SCP. The file is located in:
/var/spool/cron/root
If you edit it locally — i.e download it to your computer and edit it there with a text editor of your choice as vi probably isn't everybody's darling — make sure you transfer in text modus both directions.

(b) Voltage adjustment isn't public any more.
The corresponding file for the most important cgminer settings is:
/config/cgminer.conf
It's basically a JSON file now containing pools and other data as we well know it from other miners, too ... however:
The last two relevant lines in this config file read:

"bitmain-freq" : "4:312.5:0c02",
"bitmain-voltage" : ""

Due to noise issues I've taken two very silent (< 30dB) Noiseblocker fans at both ends, one drawing, one blowing (as with the Antminer S3) and underclocked the device to 312.5 MH/sec to keep temperatures at ca. 60 °C.
Okay, 4 separate units at 312.5 MH/sec — but what the heck does '0c02' mean?
And in which format should I enter the voltage — probably could be a bit below the standard 0.75V due to underclocking. But how to tell my Antminer without unwittingly bricking it?

Thanks in advance for any hints!

Can I ask what fans you used and what your hashrate is at 312.5 MH/sec?

Personally I think what cointerra did was shady as crap to the C7...  The knew they weren't going to pay, and let the DC provide them power for 2 months for free and collect profits.

Right, it was a criminal conspiracy.  Cointerra's magical psychic genie told them 2 months ago BTC was heading down, and not back up to $1200.

Do you gamble on horses, and then declare the racetrack "shady as crap" only when you lose?

Do you buy stocks, and then declare your broker "shady as crap" only when your investments fare poorly?

You dumbfucks who suddenly see preplanned malfeasance only things go wrong need to understand that risk is part of life, and especially part of high-tech bleeding edge start-ups.

"You dumbfucks...."
Really?  Though I have not run across you before Icebreaker, I feel very comfortable adding you immediately to my ignore list.
404  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer S5 - Notlist3d's Review on: January 10, 2015, 02:58:05 PM
the packing is different now - the first bunch of S5  units shipped in foam/bubble wrap just like the S3. This packaging is likely lighter and more environmental
I ordered in batch 3 and had this same packing.  Pretty ingenious if you ask me.  Only risk is if something sharp penetrates the box.  I had that happen to one of the boxes and it deflated a bunch of the tubes.
405  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer S5 - Notlist3d's Review on: January 10, 2015, 02:56:13 PM
More installation guide than review.  After only a few weeks this is the most "reviewed" miner since KNC's first batch.
So unless you are just posting to the check the box, so to speak, give us something new.  Mods?, Noise reduction, etc.

It's only my  first day with the miner:).  As far as noise, with having a mining area I do not worry about noise.  it is not an issue for me personally. On fan mod so far I do not need one.  Again with running it in a separate mining area  I am using the winter air and more box fan types to regulate my temperature. So the 2nd fan mod is a moot point for me as well.  Is there anything else you would like to know or see besides fan mods?

I am running it easy for the first day. I want to see it run at default speed before changing frequency on much of an overclock.   As far as what I have planned to be coming are: It will be tried on multiple frequencies and what hash power and watts used for the different frequencies.  Also to come is to try and show the Miner Link.

Thanks!  Sounds like a good plan.

If there was any real work behind the 16nm chip they can sell the design to someone.  That's a big if though.
They would have had to at least pretend like they were moving ahead with the latest designs to appear relevant at all.

Its an unproven design at this stage though, so most companies would rather use their own work / info / preference in design when they're risking $1-5M. Even if it looks better.
Everything has value to someone.

Hello! Thank you Bitman and Rockminer behind the clouds! Equipment should be in a dedicated hangars, our including (the cloud), and not to overload electrical outlets in the apartment houses, especially in suburban houses, where one miner to another person will not be able to allocate power just to stay
Huh?

Great review!
Care to mention what fans did you use. One looks like Cooler master, but which model?
In addition, how do you power them up. It looks like you don't power them off the miner connector itself.
Using a Thermaltake for push, and an Antec for pull (the Thermaltake fans rub up against the mounting screws when used for pull).

The Thermaltake fan has an adjustable RPM knob, and the Antec is a 3 speed adjustable fan.

Powering them via Molex adapters - Not connected to the S5 controller at all.

Been using these fan as described on two of my S5's in an enclosed office closet.  Not my permanent setting, just for now.
I have each set to Freq. 318.75.  They are hashing at 1050 Gh/s with temps between 56-59.  With the fans on the same EVGA 1300 G2 it's pulling 1054w, or about 525w per miner.  Pretty happy with that.

If you get more of them check out the S5 manual.  Bitmain now has minerlink at www.minerlink.com.  It will make finding them on your network much easier.  But be patient.  These take longer to boot up / show up on a network than the S3 or S1.

Is that kinda like M's ant-monitor or can you actually change pool settings? I always use Angry IP Scanner to find stuff on my network.

Just for finding the miner on your network. Since the S5 finds its own IP address it can be challenging if you have a busy network. This greatly simplifies it.

My Batch 2 miner arrives today... on truck for delivery.

Got mine a couple hours ago. The only problem I had was I have a lot of old IP address on my modem from all the S1's and it grabed one of those so I had to check a couple before I found the right one. Running great so far! Noise is not as bad as I was exspecting but have a couple of ideas to try. ( have it in my basement and can hear it some from upstairs )

414  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER C1 Discussion and Support Thread on: January 03, 2015, 05:13:08 AM
i just got my c1 today with included water cooling, i used some blood red chillblast with A little water as the large bottle was not enough. what i am concerned with is it keeps turning off as to high temperatures 80 degrees + when it says it should only be hitting like 50. when i touch the radiator, psu, and c1 exteriors they are definitely not warm to the touch in any way. ANy help would be appreciated!
Does not sound like the coolant is circulating.  Are your tubes set up correctly?

Thanks for the GB Roadstress.  I had held off buying SP equipment because of the combined equipment and delivery cost.  But this deal makes it all worth it and is the best available from any manufacturer right now.  Bought 3.  My only regret is I have to ship them right to my out of state hosting location.  Can't deal with the sound in the office.
Thank you SP for a deal that makes sense!

Thanks for this Xian01.  We have had similar mining hobby tracks and I have always kept an eye on your posts for up to date info.
I ordered 4 of these but given the noise I'm sending two into my datacenter cabinet and will play with the other two in my office.  I ordered two of each of your fan recommendations.  I love philipma1957's tinkering, but trying to pull the best single solution out his review is challenging.
I am glad to hear from everyone that the first batch appears solid from a performance spec standpoint.  I'm in batch three and hoping for an ontime ship date of 1/4.
418  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ASICMiner BE300S Samples Arrived, <0.2W/G Achieved at Board Level on: January 01, 2015, 02:11:08 AM
I've got several NF6 in the museum, not sure if they're Rev2 chips or not (USB miners is more novak's project). Swimmer, you built miners? Nice. We should talk sometime.
I'm was not the tech guy sidehack. Vs3 handled the designs. I just managed the build and did all the sales. USB miners were big business for 8-12 months. Love to figure out a way to bring them back.
But with difficulty now they would have to be able to do 8 times what they did.
The guys that bought them usually got 5-10. Folks that could not get away with spending much or having a small jet engine in their home or office. Still a big market there if we can figure out a simple, cool, small form factor that will do 75-100 ghs.  Still have the website setup.

Can you translate the "S" and "D"
Single connection cable and double connection?
420  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ASICMiner BE300S Samples Arrived, <0.2W/G Achieved at Board Level on: December 31, 2014, 07:17:30 PM
Nanofury 6's using the rev.2 bitfury chip already achieved 15gh/s.
It might be a fun project but I don't see a market.  I produced 100 of these and while we sold out, they did not go fast. That was 6 months ago.
I think you need to achieve 75-100 ghs to have anything marketable.
