501  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S4 Discussion and Support Thread on: October 03, 2014, 02:23:29 AM
Hello I have 2 S4's and prefer to use Eligius, but I'm also having tons of trouble with that combo.  I don't have any solutions, but wanted to provide data from my equipment for confirmation of the problem.

TESTING:
Run the miners on separate pools for 5 minute increments and compare results.  I also have 2 S3 Upgrades running in the same 5 min increment for comparison.  All 4 miners are restarted together then when they read 5 min of uptime i took a screenshot of MultiMiner, which shows all the details.

Below is a link to 2 screenshots of the S4s running on Eligius vs Eclipse.  Note the accepted shares and "Effective Hashrate"

http://1drv.ms/1E6MPRV

If the link doesn't treat u well, here is the data.

THE 5 MINUTE HASH    (sounds like breakfast)
ACCEPTED SHARES
   S3A   S3B   S4A   S4B
Eclipse   145   144   328   272
Eligius   149   187   48   57

EFFECTIVE HASHRATE
   S3A   S3B   S4A   S4B
Eclipse   525GH/s   428GH/s   1650GH/s   1610GH/s
Eligius   407GH/s   426GH/s   89GH/s   106GH/s

Well that's not good. Sounds like they pushed the chips too hard. Maybe should have increased the number of chips and reduced W/GH. I'm going to wait for AM's Prism. Lower cost per GH with about the same efficiency.
502  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Block Erupter Prisma (>=1.4 T/device, 0.75-0.78 W/G, <1 BTC/T, October Shipping) on: September 30, 2014, 09:43:22 PM
can the prisma be underclocked a little ?

Guessing, yes. There would be no reason not.

It's already an under clocked Tube with more chips and and a cheaper price.
503  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [OPEN] Prisma 1.4Th/s group buy @ 1.42 btc with coupon on: September 30, 2014, 08:11:58 PM
Reserved 1 for now.  Probably more later if shipping holds firm.  Will send label when you receive.
1 Miner, 1.42 btc, 32c0216f6a52c9e3e9e083800c170d9dd1fb6fca488f00e37f8ff23cb0187102
504  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: Prisma group buy on: September 27, 2014, 11:01:43 PM
can tube coupons be used for the prisma? if so probably in for 1 depending on final price
I've had no answer to this question yet

And I do have an answer now.  Yes, coupons are valid.
If you bought a tube from me, take .05 off per prism.
Was hoping for a better price but it's still better than bitmain' new 2TH miner. I will be in for multiple.
Are they going to be assembled?
505  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Announcement: Bitmain launches AntMiner solution, 0.68 J/GH on chip on: September 24, 2014, 05:15:30 PM
Anyone else having problems accessing bitmains webpage?
Yes - it appears down.
506  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: This can't be right, right? (blockchain.info) on: September 19, 2014, 11:44:04 PM
I have 7 transactions today, the earliest from 6 am (Pacific) that have not confirmed.  All inputs, but from different sources.  Something is way backed up.

Can you provide any transaction ID as an example?
Sorry - have not checked back in a while.  Everything confirmed about 2 hours ago.  Very odd, very long gap.
507  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: This can't be right, right? (blockchain.info) on: September 19, 2014, 07:47:18 PM
Yeah I've been waiting and waiting for a transaction I sent from elsewhere to my wallet to confirm so that I can send the bitcoin to refill my BTC faucet. I saw that it looks like the last block was #321511 according to blockchain.info, I will have to check other block explorers. Unfortunately I'm pretty sure MicroWallet (the service I use to fill my account) uses the Blockchain API to accept deposits anyways, so even if it did confirm, it won't show up when I send it to my account if Blockchain.info isn't working.

508  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: September 17, 2014, 03:02:57 AM
I cycled a circuit breaker last night. That caused both of my S3s to not hash when they came back up. The fan in the S3 is running, but it does not come up.

The power on sequence goes like this:
Red light flashes for about 20 seconds
Green light comes on for a second - at the same time the network link lights come on
The red and the green lights go out at the same time. The network link lights stay on. The fan stays on.
They do not respond to ping or login attempt.

Each is on a 750 Watt Corsair PS and the whole lot is on a surge protector.

Did I kill them?

happened to me. check the dns.

Did they reset to factory setting ip address?  If  you are running two or if you have a different ip address base you would have trouble getting to them.
509  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [OPEN] ASICMiner Tube Group Buy #2 on: September 15, 2014, 11:28:07 PM
He probably meant ghash went down so he joined mmpool as an alternative.

Yes and your suggestion to join mmpool  has made my life really interesting.

 https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=777194.msg8760138#msg8760138

I found a problem with zencloud-gawminers due to using and testing mmpool with westhash purchased hashing along with using the asicminer tubes.
I do not know whether to like you or be mad at you. Well the flaw I tested for in mmpool does not exist but there was a huge flaw in part of zencloud-gawminers product line.  They had to end/transfer all of the nicehash section of their business.

That was an interesting post- got me to try pointing my tubes to mmpool (where they've been miraculously stable compared to the other pools I'd tried them on) and that zencloud bug made for quite interesting reading as well.

yeah and they hit a block about 4 days ago.  So I have done 100% roi on these (between the block payout and the finders fee from zew-gaw)

I looked at this pool too.  But at 60 Th/s the likely hood of hitting another block is pretty slim.  I mean hitting the one on 9/11 was miracle really.
510  Other / Archival / Re: Pictures of your mining rigs! on: September 09, 2014, 05:02:15 PM
I'm in awe of the density and power of the SP30 mine.  But really, is that the best you can do with the cables?
511  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive ASICMiner Tube Setup [HD] on: September 07, 2014, 11:53:33 PM
The DC/DC chip on ethernet controller handles inputs from 5 to 12V. We tested cases of 5V and 12V and both work.

We also tested the temperature using thermal pads and not using. There are only negligible differences. This is why we marked them as optional. On the other hand, the current thermal pad solution may introduce bubbles which worsens the temperature in some local area. So we do no install them by default, but still ship them along in case there is any rare situation when the back of PCB is damaged and becomes conductive.

thanks for the info.  how about a better gui on the controller?  2 auto switching pools  of my choice not  just the few that it allows .  Although a 2 pool auto switching  controller with ghash and mmpool would be better then what you sold us. I can not watch my gear 24/7/365 to switch pools if the pool crashes.

Oh thank you for compensation Canary gave it to me.

Once again...no response from FC on the GUI.
512  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HEX Mining Selling 100 TH/s Bitcoin Miners at Bargain-Basement Pricing on: September 07, 2014, 04:20:33 PM
$65K for 15TH/s?  Bargain-Basement Pricing?  Morons, thieves, scammers and lowlifes.
513  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ASICMiner Tube Sales Information Thread [Round2, Price Down to <1btc per TH/s] on: September 07, 2014, 02:59:40 AM
No extra fans, running 6 Tubes with no issues.  Pool is consistently showing higher hash rate than controller.  Don't like that I can't rent these out though.  Controller issue.  Very poor flexibility which is disappointing.  Apparently no fix in sight given FC's lack of responsiveness to the issue.  Won't be adding anymore unless this changes.
514  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Announcement: Bitmain launches AntMiner solution, 0.68 J/GH on chip on: September 07, 2014, 02:52:52 AM
im starting to suspect hashnest and their promotion of a scam. 2 days and i havent recieved any free hashes . im starting to suspect its just a way to manipulate people into checking their site out since one of hasnest demands is to make a account there. is hashnest starting business with a scam right in bitmains thread? i havent recieved nothing and if you look around theres more people complaining about the same thing. bitmain can you clarify this issue please? is there anyone who got hashes from hashnest ? come forward and speak .

I'm not sure it's a scam.  But it's certainly not a good idea to "invest" into.  It'd be the same as me telling folks to sent me 1.6 BTC, and over the course of the next year and I'll slowly send most, but not all, of it back to you.

About hashnet and any company related:

The way i face the constant growing difficulty of bitcoin mining is rent my machines. I put a bit more of profit otherwise i would prefer to mine for myself as i consider the possibilites of Bitcoin biz almost endless.
So, i ask what is the profit to make contracts with this kind of companies? For sure they dont set them up to loose money otherwise i would prefer to mine for myself which means the costumers dont profit that much if nothing.

I rent most of my miners also (All but my AM Tubes and some Hashfast boards).  But the margin is getting slimmer and the cost to run them is catching up to the revenue.  Still making 60-70% profit but it's getting harder to keep up with the difficulty.  Renting adds about 15-20% to the margin though which great.

I really do not see the logic/benefit in providing that service, are we missing something?

I suspect at least some users are buying to resell to someone less informed.  ie, the money is on the trading, not on the mining.

M
So I made a small investment and purchased 200ghs on UMISOO.  Currently my average payout is roughly 0.004btc a day with a 0.0014 per day fee, which gives me roughly 0.0026btc per day profit.  That gives me a ROI of roughly 3.5-4 months.  Now that is not awesome however CEX with it's 55-105% fees has a much worse ROI if any at all.  Also as mentioned once trade begins I strongly believe ghs will start matching the price of other cloud sites and go up to anywhere from 0.0022-0.0038, at which point ROI will be obtained any time I cash out.
On the other original topic I submitted for the free 1ghs and received it about 8 hours later, as did my friend.

V/R,
Reven79

In 4 months difficulty will increase 400% and that will affect your ROI

where the hell do you figure a difficultly increase of 400%. i've heard some outlandish things  in my day but i'd check your backside for a fire cause I'm seeing smoke.

400% is a stretch. But you are going to need to assume an effect on ROI.  Ultimately, it's very unlikely you will make money in the first 6 months without a big price movement.

You guys obviously need to check the Subject of this thread...

Nobody gives a rats ass about your cooling or power issues...we're here for miner pron.
Well, if you kept up with the thread then you know that the comments about cooling referred to pictures that were pulled down.

Here's the megamine gear in our DC that was being discussed. Salivate away  Grin

This is amazing!
518  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: HASHNEST Discussion and Support Thread on: September 03, 2014, 11:26:32 PM
I always come down to this question on cloud mining and ROI.  Why would any cloud mining operation let you make a positive ROI?  They would be better off just mining for themselves.  So why bother participating?  It's like renting miners....you are always going to pay more in than you get out in coin.  The only possible reason would be that you are going to sit on your coins until they appreciate.  But then why not just buy them?
519  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ASICMiner Tube Owners Thread on: September 03, 2014, 10:53:56 PM
I'll be running the official (yes official) ASICMiner Tube thread, it will be up tomorrow.

Miner Tested, Friedcat Approved?
