I believe the earliest gold artifacts were dug up in Bulgaria.  Looks like they have loved gold for 6000 + years.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Varna_Necropolis

They need to keep digging there, they may even find the extremely rare Antminer S4000BC

JJG

Gold is inferior to infofront's hottie in one very important sense: gold is too cool to the touch compared to her.

So, I'll just HODL them both (Au and BTC), I'm a married guy who has no wish to HODL hottie cops and get into all kinds of trouble 'round here...  Just thinking about that makes my head hurt.

Politicians are already getting busy spinning the upcoming worldwide "Great Economic Reset" as a wonderful thing:

https://www.imf.org/en/News/Articles/2020/06/03/sp060320-remarks-to-world-economic-forum-the-great-reset

But mark my words, middle class wealth will be destroyed in the process, and middle class and lower class debt will continue to grow. The wealthy elites will suffer nil.

#BUYBTC

There does seem to be a lot of rhetoric re a reset.  Look for JUBILEE to become heard a lot more too.

The wealthy elites only seem to suffer in a revolution.  Revolutions are typically a bloody mess.  We don't want them.  Reform instead.

Hard to see meaningful reform anytime soon though.  Buy BTC and buy gold.  IMO.

more ammo too

Thanks to you both MoparMiningLLC and Steamtyme.

I'll keep mulling over my not-ready-for-primetime ideas and drop them a line.

Thanks again, have another merit, smile.

OK, I will contact them directly after some more thought.

Thanks for the reply!

Were they professional and welcoming?  I have a couple of ideas I am thinking about that do not involve mining, but do involve money.

novablock.com

I just started a thread in "Mining Pools" re looking at doing some business with NovaBlock.  They are a fairly small mining pool that typically wins 1 - 4 blocks per day.  But, since you guys are pretty up on BTC matters (and surely more so than I am re mining and perhaps other opportunities), I thought I would ask for any info here as well, before I contact them directly.

1)  I am interested to know if anyone here has communicated with them, and if they seem polite and welcoming (their site seems to)

2)  Has anyone done anything with them?  I am thinking about two ideas, both less than "half-baked", about seeing if I can work with them.  $ or BTC !

I welcome any feedback regarding them, whether here, at the other thread or PM.

Thanks, mates!

novablock.com

I have no interest in mining with them, but I am interested in hearing about them from any of you members here at BTCtalk who have worked with or communicated with them.  They are a "fairly small" mining pool that wins between 1 and 4 blocks per day (the pie chart of hashpower page at blockchain.info will show their recent results).  I have two ideas, "half-baked" for the moment, that I would like to explore with them.  They have two emails for inquiries (if you poke around their website you can find them), and in due course I just might if they are interested and legitimate (looks like they are).

They apparently do take people who want to mine, but that is not what I am interested in.

Many thanks for any comments, whether in this thread or by PM.

Great project, sega01

There is a case to be made for mixing two different ways if you're going to mix twice.  It might be very hard, but running BTC through Wasabi (CoinJoin) and another mixer might (perhaps Wasabi first?) be very difficult for analysts to break.

Writing the code might be hard though.

ZH just posted this about Paul Tudor Jones buying BTC, he mentioned the way to make the most money (now) is "to own the fastest horse"...:

While reading I noted that BTC price touched $9900 there for a second, it's backed off a tad now.

JJG, naah, been around these parts for a while.  I just had randomly checked BTC price, mosey'd over here, and when I looked at the preev tab again, up over $60 nice & fast.

Of course, I'm a #PotWatcher: BTC and Au

Edited for clarity and now $9185.  It's all good.   Smiley

China continues its lies, still spreading its filthy propaganda blaming the USA.

Yet who was it shutting down Wuhan Airport to Chinese domestic flights while allowing flights to/from other countries?

Who does not let anyone into Wuhan's virology lab to look around?  The CCP could allow Western scientists in while being escorted if they are paranoid about secrets (and just what would those secrets be?).

*   *   *

Bring back pharma and precursor production to the USA (and Europe!), looks like medical equipment (PPE for medical people) from China is garbage as well

Start producing rare-earths here as well as Europe (yes, they have some in Sweden and Estonia, also India, Brazil, Canada and Australia)

Bring back production of electronic components (hearing me Apple?)

Again, I understand all of the above would be very costly, but XiFlu has costs us some $6 trillion and counting..........

Would be delighted to hear about other industries that would be important to bring back as well.
434  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 29, 2020, 06:24:36 PM
OROBTC : there is nothing wrong with that...except it could have been a good idea to buy some back at some lower price point, especially as there has been several opportunities since then. Unless you spent it all on coke and hookers, that's OK too.

Just looked at my stock portfolio and it went up 7-8% in the last few days, and another 5% today.

Eerie correlation indeed.

Ahh, that is one thing I have been doing since about mid-2018: buying BTC using a rough DCA as JJG has long been suggesting as BTC mostly went down.  So, my BTC amount is back to where it was about Jan 1, 2018.  So, I'm OK with my BTC actions.  Actually, BTC has been about the ONLY *speculation* that has ever worked well out for me.

I wonder though, did I make a mistake buying gold instead of hookers & coke?  [naah, too old for all that]

Hear ya re stocks in the last couple of weeks.  DJIA has made up better than 50% off its plunge from its ATH.

1% or less in BTC and you're allowed on this forum ?

It needs some stricter rules.

Some of us cashed in nicely in late 2017 to bring us back down to 1%........
436  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 29, 2020, 06:09:42 PM
@mindrust, you should know a bit better with the words if it goes to zero.... to many strong hands and fundamental believers....

I hope you will invest a bit and at least buy a full BTC to HODL, start some DCA again and stay interested.
I do understand the feeling of being over invested isn’t easy to live with, but nothing comes easy in life.

Buy btc cause you don’t trust the current system, buy btc for financial freedom and don’t let fiat wealth be the main factor...

Cheers and be safe and happy with your decisions

Obviously It cannot go to zero as long as the network functions but it can go to $3-5k and stay there for a long time if the world economy loses its shit completely. Maybe even $1k.

If people can't find money to eat, would they buy crypto? nope. The only thing that can prevent this from happening is the FED and its printer but what if the printer go kaputt?

There is another thing...

I am starting to feel weird about this tether stuff lately. It bugs me a lot tether staying at the 4th spot on CMC.

What if that 6.4Billion USD is the amount Finex created out of thin air is to keep bitcoin alive (alive in contrast of dead, $1k) and that's the exact amount that people extracted from btc over the years? They created that 6.4B to keep BTC from collapsing, maybe? Because otherwise that 6.4B means Bitfinex owns 6.4B worth of assets which is, kinda, bullshit you know.

Thinking about this gives me more and more warnings about this thing so yes, I'll keep my position small and will keep extracting money when it reaches a certain size. I had my chance to buy back from 4.5k didn't do it. If it goes back to 4.5k again, won't do it again.

On the other hand, in a world where almost everything is a lie, a 6.4B lie from Bfinex looks sustainable.  Grin

The thing is btc is not the unbeatable, invincible investment asset once it looked like to me anymore. Do I care about it when BCH makes a %500? Nope. That's how I feel about crypto now.
ALL the way to 3-5k? Man, what will I do with only 6-10 times my original investment.

What I tell people is to invest 2% of their net worth. If it goes bust they will not feel it, and if it moons then they may have another 20% net wealth overnight. And then they can just skim off the top as the price keeps rising further.

I don't see how anyone who understands bitcoin can afford to NOT invest at least a small percentage. You either lose practically nothing or gain a fortune.

I have been +/- 1% of my net in BTC for a long time.  Well, today it's little over 1%...

In my case, even 1% is just fine.  My logic is similar, if BTC craters, no big deal.  If it quintuples over the next 1 - 5 years, great.  Takes me to an easy + 5%.

O.k.  Presuming that I might possibly have more than one bitcoin, that one bitcoin is a good goal, and remember how long it had taken Mindrust to get to 2 digits?   I am not going to suggest that I am better off than him or worse of than him.. at least where he was at.  He was proud of reaching 10BTC and then either the same day or the next day, he sold everything..... Fuck.

I'll say it again: poor Mindrust. One day he'll become popular like that bitcoin pizza guy by showing up on TV and telling his story of how he sold the bottom at ~$3800? Anyway, his story is just another hodling fuel for me. Sell now regret it later.  Cool

Did someone call me. xd

Selling from the bottom costed  $40k+ now btc is going above $8k and possibly will keep losing while it keeps going up. Still though, I know how It felt when I was over-invested. That's something I don't want to experience ever again.

Got %1 exposure in crypto right now and it feels quite good actually. In time It will reach %10-20 probably and I don't want it to go higher than that. I don't expect anything more from this investment tbh. I'll mostly keep staying as cash in the next 3-5 years.

I don't see this disease going away soon.  Still making my $50 weekly buys, no big deal. Got some alts like ltc and xmr too. (I am not %99.99 btc anymore) If these all reach their ATH's again, it'll make up for my losses last month. I don't expect anything more from crypto.

It is all about how you feel safe, well, I feel safer when I got more cash around. (no offense, I don't feel safe with an asset that is volatile af) Back to buying lottery tickets. If they go high, its good. If they go to zero, who cares. Stopped being greedy about it. It doesn't do good to me.

*I'll also be extracting cash out of it as long as it keeps going above %20 of my portfolio. (That's something I should have done since the beginning) Last month changed my views on making investments a little bit.  (hopefully in a positive way)

Actually I don't have any negative comment on mindrust's situation or logic.  Nor JJG's (even if they disagree w/ each other, haven't been keeping up with their dialogs).  Smiley

Circumstances come by from time-to-time which may force us to make decisions that later on prove to have hurt...  It's happened to me many times.  My trading (not BTC, but SPY "puts" long ago) has demonstrated to me beyond a reasonable doubt that trading (gambling) does not work for me.  Never could get the hang of it.  Same with playing poker in casinos (referring to many bad sessions playing poker there, fortunately for low stakes).

And the circumstances forcing a premature or other sale of BTC or whatever can come from many sides...  FOFOA (my go-to gold guy) has suggested to NOT own too much gold, as circumstances (medical bills, etc) may force one to sell part of the "stack" for needed liquidity, and typically at a BAD time.  Even as he expects gold to go to $55,000 - $100,000 per ounce.

"Circumstances" are a major reason that I like diversity and NOT pushing limits in owning non-traditional assets (and even traditional ones).  Like mindrust, I like to keep a fairly ample supply of CA$H/U$D around, because "circumstances" happen.  Shit happens.  Black swans and all.

I too am hoping my BTC will make a meaningful positive contribution to my (and my family's) overall financial position.  Like mindrust, I am not (too) greedy.  As I have no idea what will happen to BTC (nor even gold), I place my bets based on my perceptions of perceived probabilities vs. potential gains/losses (risk/reward), and I try to read up as much as I can.

Many (almost all of you?) of you guys are younger than I am.  Younger people have more time to recover from mistakes, I do not.

Gold BTC Bearing Guy is proud to ride with the W.O. posse.

But do keep in mind that all of us need to be careful and that each of us have differing issues.

Brilliant!

I happened to have a highly leveraged BSV short open at the moment. Was biting my nails as it approached the $200 mark, but then the fever broke and it skidded down to $194. Closed out now. Am still down for the week overall. It remains a dangerous market to be trading.

What are the hottest cryptos right now for margin trading?

Welcome back, Risto.  I hope all is well for you.

I only deal with BTC, so I hope someone else will best answer your question.

Both BTC and gold are up around 3%.  Yay!  Not too many places to hide with world economies so far in debt.

*   *   *

Agree with JJG that after the next ATH, it's perfectly OK to sell some BTC.  It looks like we should expect the huge swings in BTC price for the next years (who knows how long).

Don't get me wrong, OROBTC.... I do consider about $17,500 to $23.5k to be a kind of "no man's land".... so even though my sell on the way up and buy on the way down strategy does not attempt to differentiate too much because I sell all the way up in very small increments that I do not stop (even in "no man's land"), but for anyone who is waiting to sell and have been hanging onto their BTC for years, even had missed the prior $19,666 top, I really would not consider anywhere in no man's land to be ATH... so  in that regard, new ATHs, in my own mental framework would be something like above $23.5k.

I might change my mind later or if I see that our situation is playing out strangely, but for now, there is no reason to really conjecture that this particular round of shooting past ATH (if it happens) is going to play out much differently from earlier shots past previous ATHs in which the shooting past goes at least an additional 15-20% or more beyond such previous ATH before the price meaningfully hesitates, consolidates, corrects or otherwise fails/refuses to continue UPpity.  #DYOR ; #YMMV; #you are responsible for ur own lil selfie; #don't listen to random peeps on the interwebs...    Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Actually, I was a tad sloppy in my comment above.  I might sell some small amounts of BTC before ATH, like I did in 2017 well before that ATH.  My highest sale was around $15,000.  Other sales between $9000 and $11,500 (sell prices approximate).

Since 2018 I have only bought BTC (ex. for small gold purchases).

If I had to guess, for today, I would likely sell a small amount should BTC get to $15,000 or so.  But, as you wrote, "I might change my mind later" ..

And incrementally sell at $20k, $25k, $30K, etc.  And as WO's have observed, will keep some in case we moon to $100,000+, perhaps NEVER selling the last bit (or let any grandchildren sell it).
