I saw that article earlier, CC.  I am considering starting a series at Facebook of short links & pictures showing the CRAZIES who are suffering from "Trump Derangement Syndrome", pretty much the same as the earlier Bush version, but seems to be more extreme re Trump.

But all I would wind up doing is pissing-off my deluded relatives who are in the tank for The Left.
1202  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC is Gold 2.0 – What humanity has been waiting for centuries on: January 29, 2017, 05:52:28 PM
You are absolutely right. Bitcoin is Gold 2.0 so tell me why people fail to realize that and are trying everything to destroy this invention?
If we would focus on one goal, unite every cryptocurrency enthusiasts under one roof, bitcoin would be number 1 world's currency by now.

Bitcoin wont be the world's number currency until it's ready to be used by the whole population. Lacks development and it will take time.
But we all need to work together in this direction. No internal fights

Why do most of the people in this forum, even the Legendary ones think Bitcoin is synonymous to gold? Whenever Bitcoin is mentioned the first thing that comes in their minds are "wealth" and "earnings". Let those people out of here and bring back what it is all about. A censorship resistant, decentralized currency. Do you know what that means OP?

You forget to mention that is the first digital scarce good created by humanity.
That makes it very similar to gold in terms of scarcity. Therefore as a store of value.

I agree, But it is still early for the human kind to accept it, needs a lot more advertising from everywhere, right now it is in a very closed environment, bitcoin needs worldwide tv commercials like coca cola, easy explanations, easy apps for smartphones..

You're absolutely right

Bitcoin sho is lightweight,  I give it that.  But it don't have no advantage ova tha gold thieves.  Hail, you got the damn exchanges runnin' away wit people's dough!  This ain't no binary dilemma we got here.  Gol' can exist side by side wit bitcoin, jist like we coext wit the squirrels up inna treetops.  Its a big ol' world an' they's lotsa room in it fo' evverthang.

it will coexist with gold, atleast for some generations

This seems like a reasonable way to look at Bitcoin and gold.

Gold has a long history as the world's premier Store of Value.  Gold is pretty easy to understand.  Bitcoin has not been around very long, and as we have seen, there are a variety of issues & problems not being resolved quickly.  It is too early to say whether Bitcoin will become universally recognized.  An altcoin conceivably could come along and displace it.

Bitcoin and gold share some properties.  But, they are two different "vectors" if you will.  BTC is a nice innovation, and might very well change history.

But the story is not written yet.
1203  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: .Govs Now Want to Come After the BTC Mixers on: January 28, 2017, 07:18:15 PM
...

One of the things the .govs may try to stop (or slow down) BTC is by controlling the "entrance and exit ramps".  Perhaps by banning BTC ATMs for example.  Banning banks & merchants from exchanging BTC for cash is another avenue of attack...

While it would be extremely hard for .gov to KILL Bitcoin, they might be able to make it less private (they hope anyway) and inconvenient to use.  That might accomplish their goal.

The mixers, again IMO, are a key to BTC freedom.
1204  Bitcoin / Project Development / Has Anyone Bought a Digital Bitbox (made in Switzerland)? on: January 28, 2017, 12:18:28 AM
...

Several months ago I remember hearing about the Digital Bitbox, a hardware BTC wallet then under development.  I never got to see any reviews (even here at bitcointalk).

I was interested because they were going to make it sturdy and simple (without those annoying firmware updates from Trezor and Ledger).

Here is their website:

https://digitalbitbox.com/

Has anyone bought and used one?  What do you think of it?

"Terrorists and Criminals"

The always-convenient excuse by the governments to clamp down on our freedoms.  Look here for what the European Commission is proposing re cash there in Europe:

http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2017-01-27/europe-proposes-restrictions-payments-cash

Yep, terrorism is just an excuse for their idea...  TAXATION and SOCIETAL CONTROL are the real reasons.  Plan accordingly.
1206  Economy / Economics / Re: Martin Armstrong Discussion on: January 27, 2017, 11:55:44 PM
Remember when I said the real price of gold should be $2200 even in their artificially low rigged system and that people already had to pay far above spot to locate large amounts of gold currently?

Jim Wille claims people who are attempting to buy gold in bulk (like $100 million) have to currently pay exactly that much to find it ($2100 - $2500):

http://youtu.be/ef4-NF0TT7w?t=122

I have seen JW's claims (and I do enjoy his work, but he provides little evidence of his more out-there remarks).  The big problem I have with his claims of physical gold being hard to get (in quantity) is that it apparently is not true...

FOFOA claims (and has long claimed) that physical gold is reasonably available in quantities up to 10 - 50 tonnes (depending I imagine).  One tonne is $40,000,000 in round numbers:

$1200 * 32.1 (toz/kg) * 1000 kg = ~$40,000,000.

A price of $2200 per toz of phyzz would drive many owners to sell the phyzz and replace it w/ paper gold (for a nearly 100% paper profit).  I would take that chance even now were I an owner of (say) $120,000,000 ($1200 / toz) in gold (3 tonnes) and then make a $100,000,000 (paper) profit...  For now, paper rules.  At some point though, physical gold will rule.

Until someone Jim Willie knows actually shows a contract or other evidence of $2200 gold, I think all that is highly unlikely.  And I am a Freegold guy, about as optimistic as they come re the future price of gold when all the paper burns....
1207  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: More than 50,000 unconfirmed transactions on: January 27, 2017, 11:43:12 PM
...

I did two trx today, with a fee of about BTC0.00045, the trx were small in KBs.

Paying a big fee is worth it for me, as I consider all of my transactions "important", so I pony up.  Recently I had to do a number of very small trx (as described above in this thread as well as in others), so I saw what a problem it was sending out trx with low fees (LONG confirmation times).

That lovely tool that someone here showed us a couple of weeks ago to accelerate trx helps a lot:

https://www.viabtc.com/tools/txaccelerator/

If you send out a small transaction, but include at least BTC0.0001, then that tool will speed things along nicely, and it costs nothing.
1208  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin in India? Not for a LOOOOONG time. on: January 27, 2017, 11:38:51 PM
Omg I think that bitcoin is ilegall in India and that is the main reason why bitcoin isnt really popular in India but I am not sure it is better to ask google he know everyting.
What makes you think it's not popular or unknown over there? Is it because of the Original Post and the thread title?
Do keep in mind that this thread was started in 2015. Lots of things could change during that time.

As for me, I think a lot of people over there are aware of bitcoin and many more will start using it. Especially
with the recent scrapping of the 500 and 1000 rupee notes.

Yes, lots has changed since late 2015.  We had just come back from an extended tour of India as tourists.

The .gov of India said they were going to issue NEW banknotes (R2000 I believe) at some point, but with their charcteristic .gov bumbling they have not yet done so as far as I have heard.

JUDD, I knew that last name was familiar, sister of Wynonna, daughter of Naomi (last two are country music singers from awhile back).

Yeah, a nasty woman!  Ha ha, nobody wants the 48 (almost 49) yr old tramp.  Good riddance.

Communism and fellow-traveler governments not liking Bitcoin (the sub-thesis I'm exploring here).  Hmm, Venezuela just arrested BTC miners:

http://www.newsbtc.com/2017/01/26/authorities-venezuela-arrest-four-bitcoin-miners/

Commmunists who have power are very dangerous!

I suspect that dangers to the BTC community are far more serious by leftist governments than by (supposed) hordes of resentful lefty programmers...

But, keeping Martin Armstrong alive here, I pass along the two below posts of his discussing TAXES and CA$H, both of which our Collective Governments seem to hold opposite ideas vs. those of us yearning to be free...:

Perhaps we should just clearly characterize Communists, Socialists and The Left as variation on a species...

That said, it is clear that countries where The Left is very strong are indeed against Bitcoin.  And they are trying very hard to ban and limit BTC (and the freedom it provides).  Here is a link showing that a conference in Europe wants to come after the Bitcoin mixers:

http://bravenewcoin.com/news/wgvc-focuses-on-the-misuse-of-digital-currencies-by-criminals-and-terrorist-financiers/

(It's always about the terrorists and criminals...)

Why are you spinning the topic? I wasnt talking about governments.

Bitcoin is even more vulnerable, all it needs is a bunch of leftwing organizations to team up and hire some programmers to reprogram the BTC source code, and then agitate on social media to all poor people around the world to download it, and setup their node, and they will get like free 10 BTC/block.

It would be an unstoppable attack, and the price will quickly crash to 0$, not to mention the BTC network, blockchain, and source code vandalized by leftist agitators.

IMO, the most dangerous Communists are the ones who have power, hence my bringing .govs into the picture.

Canny observer Martin Armstrong (and committed anti-Communist) offers up the below two comments today re The Left, the first comment deals with the "War on Cash" now underway, by, wait for it, Leftists!

https://www.armstrongeconomics.com/world-news/taxes/eliminating-currency-communism/

And who wants more coercive taxes?

https://www.armstrongeconomics.com/world-news/taxes/trump-tax-reduction-follows-john-f-kennedy-approach/

The Left and greedy governments are the enemy, they are almost one and the same.

A global conference in Qatar (there's some irony) on "misuse" of digital currencies is looking to shut down the BTC mixers:

http://bravenewcoin.com/news/wgvc-focuses-on-the-misuse-of-digital-currencies-by-criminals-and-terrorist-financiers/

The BTC mixers are an important part of financial privacy IMO.

New Armstrong articles that should be of interest to many of us:

His comments on the Dow breaking 20,000, I agree with his comments that it could go quite a bit higher (esp. if it reaches 23,000 and the masses jump in):

https://www.armstrongeconomics.com/markets-by-sector/stock-indicies/dow-jones/dow-breaks-the-20000-barrier/

Yes, well it could be.  I have a proven track-record of lousy financial market predictions.  Armstrong's point re this, however, does reflect the tendency of "investors" to pile into a market near its highs...

A related phenomenon often seen is that BUBBLES can go on much longer than observers expect.  The US stock market continued rise for years after both Greenspan and Warren Buffett declared it dangerous.

Still, you could be right.  I have NO IDEA what will happen.  "Best be diversified."
1216  Economy / Economics / Re: bitcoin atm on: January 26, 2017, 04:25:23 AM
...

I've used BTC ATMs ("BTMs") in three different cities including my own.

I also spoke with one of the directors of a small company that has +/- 5 BTMs here.  He told me that there are several expenses that people do not think about (rent at the store, damage to machines by angry users, expense of buying the machines themselves, US ,gov reporting requirements, etc.).  That is one reason that BTM fees can be so high (maybe averaging 14%).

Also, it has been YEARS now that I have used a BTM not requiring substantial ID/KYC/cellphone number.  One was in NYC, one was in Vancouver (Canada).

Still, even with the drawbacks I mention above, they have a certain convenience if you have trouble setting up meetings via localbitcoins (I have bought BTC via them, but it is generally a hassle for me).

anonymous irreversible money that lives on the internet.

i'm seriously impressed this place isn't more of an absolute shit hole because that's the perfect recipe for attracting scum.

ECB

That was a thoughtful remark.  Yeah, with so much (relatively) anonymous money sloshing around in the Bitcoin Ecosystem (and various players here too at bitcointalk), I understand your point.

Many times I come here I see various small kind acts done by other members (advice and accelerating small trx are just today, that I saw just this evening) on behalf of others, and not just newbies.
1218  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Tracking BTC Users in the Future. Ideas re Anonymity? on: January 26, 2017, 04:08:24 AM

I have read a few pieces, here and elsewhere, that suggest that blockchain tracking tools (analytical tools) are getting better and better.  Even TOR trx may be vulnerable.  Even mixing services may be vulnerable.

.gov would certainly be interested in such tools to rob us of relative privacy, as would the plagues of scammers.

What effective defenses ought we consider?

(Perhaps one idea would be buying moar BTC now and let them sit in the cold would become a higher priority?)

I did a transaction today for some BTC0.33 with a fee of BTC0.00014 or so.  It did not confirm in the first couple of blocks, so I accelerated it with ViaBTC's nice little tool for moving along trx with small fees:

https://www.viabtc.com/tools/txaccelerator/

It still took a several more blocks, normally when I accelerate a trx it confirms pretty fast.  But this time it did not until ViaBTC won a block, and my trx was in it.

I like the tool, it's free.

But, wherever possible I am just going to put a fee of some BTC0.0002 or BTC0.0003...
