This reminds me of the south park episode lol.
422  Economy / Speculation / Re: 15K BTC Wall at $6.00 - Real or Fake? on: January 26, 2012, 04:39:43 AM
It has dropped down to 12K. Either they thought 15K was too much or someone didn't want to leave that ask exposed overnight.
423  Economy / Speculation / 15K BTC Wall at $6.00 - Real or Fake? on: January 26, 2012, 03:37:34 AM
Personally I think the wall at $6.00 is another example of shameful manipulation. I just noticed it myself but without a test it is hard to say if it is real or fake. If someone were really trying to sell that many coins at that price a wall is not the way to do it. The only thing a wall of the magnitude achieves is a drop in price and for that reason I question its reality. This might actually be a sign that the a manipulator is getting ready for another big short squeeze.

70 cents, here we come Smiley Told you...

LOL what? An expected correction means $0.70?
425  Economy / Speculation / Re: [Daily Speculation Poll] :: The Bitcoin Trap on: January 26, 2012, 03:17:15 AM
Gosh, trading for whole week at $6.30.

Now we've bumped down to $5.80 for another week of brain-dead sideways movement.

Nuh-uh, not so sure about that. As people will start to realize that their current 6.25 - 7.20 asks are getting increasingly unattainable, the mountain of asks will move lower to overwhelm the bid side. The bottom could well fall out over the next week, if the panic hasn't started already.

All this talk of dropping prices makes me think we are ready for another spike up.

...If only I knew that FOXBUSINESS and The Good Wife were planning on discussing bitcoin...

Does anyone actually watch these shows?  I never heard of The Good Wife until these forums.

Quote from: Wikipedia
[Nielson] showed FBN with an average of 21,000 viewers between 5 a.m. and 9 p.m

The Good Wife was not even in the top 20 for network shows...

For now it is the same nerds and geeks using Bitcoin as before.

I had never heard of the good wife before either but it does have a large following. Mainly housewives. I asked someone at work about it and his mom is a regular viewer.
427  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Can't withdraw from Gox on: January 26, 2012, 02:57:47 AM
I don't know about Gox, but I was setting up a Paxum account and they have stricter AML/KYC rules.  They said if you black anything out it will fail verification.  They (Paxum, again) also go total nazi on the requirements and say it has to be in full color, can't touch the edges of the document, has to be centered, has to be ultra high resolution, etc, etc.

Well that would just be completely unacceptable. There is absolutely no way I would scan a document and send it to someone with my credit card number on it. My ISP sends bills through email and they are also my phone company. I do not own a cell phone so I do not have a bill for that. Therefor I would not be able to "verify" my identity without compromising my identity.
428  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Can't withdraw from Gox on: January 26, 2012, 02:36:38 AM
I am glad to see you were able to resolve this issue.

If I were to be required to submit AML  documents the only thing I have with my address is a credit card bill. I would want to black out my number obviously and probably my transactions since that is no one elses business. Would that be an issue?
429  Economy / Speculation / Re: Smart Money has left the building… Have you? on: January 26, 2012, 02:32:38 AM
I don't get it. So because Fox Business did a piece on Bitcoin it means we are going down in price? I don't buy into fox anything but that twitter post and this thread just appear to be a manipulation of the market.
430  Economy / Speculation / Re: Clark moody sucking for anyone else? on: January 26, 2012, 02:18:32 AM
I was wondering why I no longer had to reload. Seems to be working great to me.

(Update)

Just saw the script reconnect. Works like a charm.

I know MagicalTux is on these forums as a user (the MT in MTGox).
Lol. MTGOX means Magic The Gathering Online eXchange. MagicalTux (Mark Karpeles) is not the guy that started it, but rather is the guy that bought it out.

Color me embarrassed. I guess I haven't been involved with Bitcoins long enough to learn this. I always assumed it was because of the MagicalTux and will no longer refer to it as that. My cousin is actually a huge Magic The Gathering enthusiast and this might help to draw him and his friends to Bitcoins.

Also, if it was "for work", then I would assume that your employer should reimburse you for the bill.

The gox verification is getting more and more onerous by the day though.
They denied 2 sets of expense reports related to that online class....  Polishing up my resume this week, selling my truck, bought a motorcycle to save money, etc.  They bankrupted me.

Oh, and to answer a previous persons question.  I have never accessed Gox with Tor or a proxy.

I added your post to the AML thread and that is definitely strange if you haven't accessed it through those means. As far as schools go I learned a long time ago that they are businesses first and educational institutions second. I hope you can make it through your school  and get whatever it is you are working towards.

I know MagicalTux is on these forums as a user (the MT in MTGox). It would be nice if he could comment on why this seems to be happening more often and perhaps even on a specific basis in your case. You could always try messaging him to see what the response is.
433  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Can't withdraw from Gox on: January 25, 2012, 03:31:22 AM
It would be helpful to answer if you have logged onto your MTGox account while on TOR or a proxy. It could very easily be done and would explain the verification request. If you do not answer then I am unsure of whether or not I should be worried by your predicament. It is unfortunate nonetheless and requires a little more than photocopied ID's.
434  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: This will change Bitcoin as you know it. on: January 25, 2012, 02:54:00 AM
Looks great. I have a suggestion for advertisers though. I think you should approach some video card and fpga manufacturers. They could then market their hardware as $/MH MJ/MH and in relative terms to bitcoin miners. In all likelihood we will already know this but it is a good opportunity for relative product placement. I would potentially be interested in helping to develop the magazine but it appears you have things under control.
435  Economy / Speculation / Re: yawn on: January 25, 2012, 02:31:33 AM
yeh right, who is going to buy  $1 million in bitcoins to get us passed $7.22? Hmph.

It's called leverage and liquidations on Bitcoinica. It would take significantly less capital than $1m to do this since a small change in price can cause a snowball effect of liquidations on bitcoinica.

Not a chance... It will take approximately $1M.

How much did it take to push us from $3 to $7 in such short order? I thought that was impossible until I saw it happened and I am pretty sure it required more capital than $1m.

I am not saying we are going up from here but what I am saying is that anything is possible.

437  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: [ANN] Changes to AML Policies - Mt.Gox on: January 25, 2012, 02:16:22 AM
Seems we have another case:

So I have this huge cell phone bill due to an online class I had to take for work.  I logged into Gox and sold some BTC to pay the bill.  I go to withdraw to Dwolla like I have done many times and I get "Your account is currently pending review" and I need to verify.  WTF Gox?  So I decided to buy back BTC and go to another exchange to cash out.  I try to withdraw BTC and I get "Your account is currently pending review".  WTF?  I can't get USD **or** BTC out of Gox?  You have got to be kidding me.  What happened to BTC being anonymous?  So I upload photo ID and read on the forums it could take 2 weeks to get verified.  I'm pretty sure it is illegal to let me deposit money but not let me withdraw it.  Time for a class action?
438  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: [ANN] Changes to AML Policies - Mt.Gox on: January 25, 2012, 02:15:27 AM

So we have one case so far. This is a bit disturbing but at the same time I could see a withdraw slightly below the threshold being viewed as suspicious.

Is a withdrawl slightly below slightly below the limit also suspicious?

This is what I was referring to. If the limit on transactions for reporting to your local tax agency is $10k and you receive some transfers for $9999.99 then that would definitely raise some red flags.
439  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Can't withdraw from Gox on: January 25, 2012, 02:13:31 AM
Way under the limits.  Months ago it used to be that you only had to get verified to move large amounts.  Now it seems they are requiring verification on all accounts.  My friends at work have the same verification message and they all have done under $100 in withdrawals.

That's rather disturbing. I have some money on there and plan to withdraw it to buy a new gfx card to supplement my mining rig. MagicalTux do you care to comment on this?

Is it possible that you or your friends was connected through the TOR network or through a proxy? This would trigger a verification request.

How much were you trying to withdraw? If you exceeded their limits you would be put up for account review. Its not very well documented on their website but it has been discussed here.

"All methods below are subject to a withdrawal limit of 1000 USD per 24hr period and 10000 USD per 30 Day period:"
