461  Economy / Marketplace / would you wear a block erupter as a lapel pin at bitcoin meetup groups? on: October 21, 2014, 02:56:23 AM
Hello Everyone!

I've had wearable block erupter pins available for a while and I originally did this with burned out erupters last year - now that difficulty is sky high and there is likely no real opportunity to make a mining return from them (unless BTC price hits above $1600USD  within the near term [unlikely]), I have some block erupters that are just 'hanging out' not hashing at all.  I attach an ornate safety pin to the back of block erupters and can wear them like a fashion piece.

Would you please take 15 seconds to vote on them so I can have an idea if anyone here would even use them or not.  I've yet to sell any since attending local meetups last year around November. (I only have two listed currently on my site, but can make about 70 of them if anyone were interested. One in Silver, yellow, and even Pink as well (I've also got a few Antminer U1s too but I sort of wanted to keep them for myself and they don't have the B logo so yeah, not as symbolically effective))

[I have this idea right now to get a small solar cell strip that tapes onto the edge of the top of the erupter and possibly feeding it into the power towards the LED on it so that they can occasionally blink - I just have no idea how to make it happen and to keep it cheaply priced {like 20 bucks still}]

I thought you knew - honeybadgers are immune to all things except chuck norris.
463  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Seasonic 1250W wont Jump Start on: October 20, 2014, 02:05:15 AM
confirm that the paperclip you're using doesn't have a thin plastic coating covering the metal - this happened to me when using my friend's paperclips use scissors or knife to cut it away from the edges.

edit: I now see you said power comes on for a half second - that usually means your psu is underpowered for the application - confirm that you aren't overloading a 12v rail if its using multiple 12v rails - just choose a separate pcie cable not the one that branches away.
464  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Artwork sold for 35 BTC in Inside Bitcoins Tel Aviv on: October 19, 2014, 06:56:22 PM

35 bitcoins wow that state the art guy should be there i saw his paintings was quite fascinating too.

465  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Experiences with used Miners? on: October 19, 2014, 03:10:36 PM
Bitfury full kit has been a fantastic failure for me (if i turn it on it can manage to get me 130 GH or so but should be able to get 400).

I've heard about issues with terraminers also being total piece-o-crap worthy.

I have a couple block erupters that died out but the bulk of them are probably still okay if I ran them.

466  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Just what is a FAIR fee to send a Bitcoin transaction? on: October 19, 2014, 08:42:46 AM
I chose 50 cents - this is of course under the idea that btc is worth 2K or more  Tongue
467  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Obama’s credit card denied at restaurant on: October 19, 2014, 01:34:42 AM
I understand why it happened - this probably happens more often than the media gives credit for to celebrities.  I suppose the question to ask is:  "Is it fair that a celebrity or public figure whose identity be subjugated to having to prep a merchant processor that they are going to be buying goods services in advance to prove that they are not an impostor?"

I think its not fair.
468  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: The "you cant kill Bitcoin argument" on: October 19, 2014, 01:30:52 AM
It may be a newbie question but ...
I mean Bitcoin is P2P ? Right ? can't ISP just block ports ? just like for torrent  Embarrassed

This forum would put a note in the News section at the top there:  Change your BTC port to: VWXYZ OR upgrade to version X.YZ

The 'you cant kill bitcoin' argument comes from the fact that all these newer successor digital currencies and assets use bitcoin as the primary means of acquisition.

470  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 6th / s goal! antiminer 3xS4 VS spondoolies SP 35 ?? on: October 18, 2014, 12:56:56 PM
hi!

I need some advice ..
6th / s goal ..
I recommended 1 x spondoolies SP35  6TH / s or n.3 antiminer S4 (2TH / s x 3 = 6 TH/s) ?

In how many days can I calculate the ROI of the investment before you start to undermine the positive?

thanks everyone for the help Wink

This is what I'm seeing:  https://tradeblock.com/mining/a/353a3760ca

step 1:  Discover Difficulty (turning your ROI into a shrinking moving target into the foreseeable future towards zero) (today )
step 2:  Stop using advice and calculations from 10-12 months ago
step 3:  Determine estimated power consumption costs from all ur units (electricity is free is usually unacceptable as someone is paying the cost somewhere - your job, your landlord, you in an upfront solar installation)
step 4:  Open an account with Circle.com or Coinbase.com
step 5:  Buy BTC each month in the amount you would have spent on electricity cost
step 6:  Buy a 3d printer kit (this will give you something physical to fulfill your 'tinkering' aspect of mining)
step 7:  Wait HuhHuh amount of time
step 8:  PROFIT!!!!!!!

474  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] SEGMining Co-Location Service in Vancouver, WA on: October 08, 2014, 08:54:01 AM
I sold SEG 12 of my S1s back in July and he paid on time as agreed for them.  I've been to their hosting facility and they're legit.  I too have met D personally at the local meetup here and feel he's a trustworthy person to do business with.

475  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Killer Application will be VOTING/POLITICS/GLOBAL on: October 06, 2014, 06:07:09 AM
Thats a bit of a stretch - you would have to force the majority to see the superior benefit of using the BTC itself to vote - so far it doesnt correct the issues of PAC and SIG who run congress through favors from politicians - how does holding bitcoin change that perspective?

only becomes the killer application if an entire sovereignty is created and the current masses emigrate their existing sovereignty to join this 'new' one.

In laymans terms - you can't beat the status quo until you become the new status qo.
476  Economy / Goods / Re: Urgently SELL 2 Judge CANNABIS CUP AMSTERDAM tickets / 0.3 BTC per 1 on: October 06, 2014, 05:34:59 AM
proof of tix via a safe picture or they aren't real.  Do escrow through either ognasty, johnk or tommato cage and that's a hell of a deal.j

although the more i think about it, the more I realized that I wanted this maybe 10 years ago and not really anymore (long flight and expensive hotel just to smoke up 3-400 bucks worth of different weeds? - pass)
477  Other / Meta / Re: Just found out I was banned, so was a bunch of other people in my dorm on: October 04, 2014, 01:46:07 PM
your account (givebtcpls) was painfully and obviously a signature 4 coins account.  Now, from reading between the lines, you seem to be engaging in buying/selling a bitcointalk account.  I was under the impression that they weren't issuing the ban-hammer for this activity - if they are (more power to you badbear)

I mean, I've had my own share of off topics and 'just trollin' comments too, but you probably would not have gotten banned for doing something within reason.  Heck I had a small stint where I reposted bumps and replies and made a few pointless threads, but the mods took the time to warn me on my behavior beforehand and I straightened up - were you warned of your activity?  What did you do to get banned?
478  Economy / Speculation / Re: why the bitcoin price is going down ? on: October 04, 2014, 12:24:57 PM
localbitcoins is still above $400 while sheeple are panicing while looking at the crappy btc-e/bitstamp small valuations

wake up sheep theres less actual bank movements on exchanges compared to localbitcoins

stop valuing bitcoins 13 million coins based on movements of just 200 coins!!!!

exchanges are just bot movements on a mysql database..

shhhh I'm still trying to let them drive the price lower for cheep coinz!

480  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: What, why spam payments on: October 04, 2014, 11:21:50 AM
I was under the impression that these transactions cost more to spend the satoshis themselves if you wanted to.

Also, I get it (sort of)

Rather pay $500USD  in BTC to spam 250,000 BTC addresses with your name so they could spend income (after all the profile of a btc holder is likely someone who happens to have a little money invested into it) so they could perceivably invest in hyip too.

When I first noticed it I saw it was hitting different members of the Bitcoin community like moderators - I believe that person for person, it probably makes more economic sense for an hyip to pay via blockchain spam as opposed to traditional email spam or junk mail that so often gets trashed or overlooked - hence, people spend up satoshis that can never reallybe spent (at the time this was written as current iteration of standard bitcoin software anyway)
