Jasprit Bhumrah might be not playing in the fourth test match as he has already bowled more than 80 overs and need a rest. The probable replacement for him would be either Mukesh Kumar or Arshdeep Singh. Mukesh Kumar was give a chance earlier in the series but he failed to impress. Arshdeep Singh is likely to be given an opportunity in the fourth test match. KL Rahul will be joining the team in the fourth test so most probably Patidar would be rested. He also failed to impress with his bat in two test matches. I don't think he would get another call from the selectors after his poor performance with the bat in this test series.
482  Local / India / Re: Consequences of skipping 30% capital gains tax! on: February 18, 2024, 03:29:15 PM
In 2014, I had received a demand letter from IT. At that time I was trading on local stocks and I did make some profit at that time. The amount they questioned was not so big as it was my initial days of trading.

The letter questioned my funds and demanded a reply. They did ask me to contact them which I was reluctant. I did not respond to the letter and the the finance ministry cancelled such demands which were less than INR10k after a year.

For now the situation is different, the condition and the infrastructure is different. It would be good to pay taxes otherwise the situation can get complicated.
483  Other / Meta / Re: Why is this account still very active and not restricted or ban? on: February 18, 2024, 03:17:34 PM
I have reported his post from 2022 on our local board. I have reported current post of him on our local board. He is still active as per my understanding and the mods are least bothered. He has been spamming almost every board where he can find an opportunity. Considering his activities and his objective the account should be banned for good. If not then he will continue to promote his objective of selling account, which I feel would create a wrong impression among newbies.
484  Local / India / Re: Everything is becoming shitty with the local board. on: February 18, 2024, 02:58:11 PM
I have been inactive and I'm really sorry for that as I had my own personal and financial problems. I understand that this board has not been active as earlier in 2017-2018, this section was super active when altcoins were doing well and I was fortunate enough to be a part of the forum back then. Now, it seems that the market is also not good and for Indians, the taxes have ruined the fun of even considering BTC as an investment or source of income which wasn't the case earlier. Bitcoins had so much potential in India but nothing is working out now.
Welcome back! You and many others were the reason I became one of the active member of the local board. The current situation is different to what you guys had experienced earlier. But, it is still the same for the local board active users from 2021. Please try to be active and I know you are doing it as a free will. Please give us encouragement with your activities on the local board. If everyone leaves us then where will we find a place to discuss about our problem and possible solutions on this non encouraging environment.
485  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: No KYC Crypto Trading Platforms on: February 18, 2024, 01:36:23 PM

I'm looking forward to your opinions on the platforms you use..

No KYC platform is a good initiative but have you used it is my question? If you have then share some screenshots of transactions made by you. Although I do not believe in screenshots in the era where AI can manipulate everything. Why should anyone use this platform that you are promoting? It would be great for you to share your experience and the reason for using it. If you are a scammer and promoter of this exchange then you would not reply to my questions. BTW, you have cleverly used a lot of pictures using AI that comes from a free image website. If you reply to my reply then I will direct you to those image links.
486  Bitcoin / Mycelium / Re: Mycelium Showing incorrect Bitcoin Price.. on: February 18, 2024, 01:17:29 PM

It won't change, I have discovered this price inacurrency on Mycelium apps some years ago when I still use that wallet, so I think the price is always less than the actual bitcoin exchange price, but when you transfer to your exchange you will then see the real value.

I guess ops should just get used to that from that app, and learn how to already picture this price discrepancy on the app Vs real bitcoin price, although me I just took that as the apps own why of computing bitcoin and since it doesn't affects the actual value of my bitcoin in sats, so it doesn't border me much, and also since Mycelium is not an exchange I don't have problem with that.

Unless if the team or anyone here can help with the way to resolve the price imbalance, so let us learn a new thing today.

You are coming up with a new bug that I do not consider a bug. I did check the app and found out the price is accurate according to the exchange you chose. I chose Binance and found it to be suitable for the current market condition. I am sharing both images but remember that Binance is an exchange and Mycelium is a wallet that uses the exchange API to get those numbers.

Binance Exchange Bitcoin price

Mycelieum wallet

There will be a slight change in the price of Bitcoin as it is a wallet and not an exchange. Please come up with some substantial evidence to support your theory. Till now I have not found one.

487  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What significant impact is expected of new members of the forum? on: February 18, 2024, 12:53:58 PM
I do not understand your excitement but I am happy that you are excited to be here. As I have said earlier and I am going to repeat it once again go through different boards and find the one that suits your understanding. Make sure that you make friends here if you want to grow as creating enemies and disagreeing is quite common on the forum. Understand the rules and regulations and abide by them without hesitating or questioning them. It is much easier to do that way otherwise you would get banned or get a negative trust on your profile.
488  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What contributes to a casual gambler becoming an addicted gambler? on: February 18, 2024, 12:46:42 PM
I found out another reason and this time it is about a new gambler. They come into the gambling industry thinking that they can make money and settle their existing debt. This is a myth as gambling can result in more debt if not done properly, I mean a newbie gambling without knowing how to operate a game can be a disaster for. I have experienced it and I did write about it here - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5485379.0
489  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: February 18, 2024, 12:33:46 PM
Bairstow needs to sit out, he has done nothing in this series. I'd say same for Root too but he can get important breakthroughs, and his name may give psychological assurance to the teammates so I guess it's alright. Anderson on his way to 700 wickets, but ineffective in this match.

Hoping to see at least one game with full 5 day play in remaining matches. England disappointed so much today.

I want him to play as he is an asset for the Indian team  Grin

Whether he is out of form or he is out of shape getting his wicket is the easiest thing that India can accomplish. He is a gem for the Indian side as he is only in the team to bat and I do not expect him to field well with his shape.

BTW, this non-experienced Indian batting lineup won the third test, and the retired players from England are not happy with the way the third test ended. Why would they as England's whole team get out on a pitch that is supposed to be batting-friendly? They never expected the Indian bowling unit to be so strong as they forgot that India was playing in India.
490  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Escape Debt with Gambling: A Dangerous Cycle on: February 18, 2024, 12:20:00 PM
I had to spend $10 from my pocket to convince him that the casino does not have a bug. I had to sit with him and play the game that he thinks can be rigged with my own money and the bugger still thinks that I am trying to fool him. He is now asking all his friends who are into gambling to help him as he got hold of the individual who won big time from the casino. I did meet with this guy and he told me that he created 20 accounts using 20 different mobile numbers to win a substantial amount from the casino.

As I have said earlier it is an illegal online casino in my country and the owner is trying to use it for his benefit therefore KYC is not needed. The way he recognizes that a user is genuine is by the mobile number. It is not that easy to get mobile numbers in my country but in some shops, you can get them by paying extra to the shopkeeper.

Now the question that comes to my mind is whether it is possible to win in a casino by creating several accounts and playing the same game at the same time. Does it crash the game? Or there is another reason.
491  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: American banks require permission from the SEC to store cryptocurrency on: February 18, 2024, 11:55:07 AM
I don’t know whether American banks can act as a custodian for Bitcoin or what licenses are needed to do so, but an increase in custodial custodians will increase the security of storing cryptocurrencies. Bitcoin ETF is not the last cryptocurrency ETF in the US.
This is the strangest thing I've ever heard!!! How will US banks be able to act as custodians of Bitcoin? There is a complete contradiction between the concept of Bitcoin and the concept of banks from the peak of decentralization to the peak of centralization!!! But this is always the case in Uncle Sam's country Huh.

In any case, it may be true that increasing the number of custodians would increase the security of storing cryptocurrencies, but it would expose the entire concept of decentralization and privacy to danger.

I expect that this is the most dangerous thing that ETF has brought to us, the transfer of Bitcoin to centralization. Instead of investors keeping their Bitcoin in their wallets, these central companies and banks will keep it and give them worthless shares.
Banks in the US have been obstructing the development of the Bitcoin ecosystem in the US for many years, but after the adoption of the Spot Bitcoin ETF, there is no point in this confrontation. If banks used the services of organizations to lobby their interests to become custodial holders of Bitcoin, then according to US law this is possible.

I think that was the plan from the beginning with banks going out of business in the US such tactics might help them. With spot ETF getting approved they found as in the banks an opportunity to cash the trend and I won't be surprised if the SEC agrees to their request. Without the banks, there wouldn't be any requirement to have the SEC as a governing body.

It would be very appropriate for the US government to centralize Bitcoin through ETF companies and central banks instead of trying to ban it. Containment rather than confrontation is the easiest and best solution.

I do not know what the impact of such a move on Bitcoin in the long term will be, positive or negative?

I do not think the impact would be negative but the US and its financial institution have tried their level best to control Bitcoin from the beginning. Through the spot ETF they might be able to control it for their financial purpose within the US.
492  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: hi all, please tell me someone, which wallet is better for bitcoin address watch on: February 18, 2024, 11:38:35 AM
I prefer using the Electrum wallet and Mycelium wallet as they both are available for Android devices. Electrum mobile wallet UI is not that great and that is why I prefer using its desktop version whereas Mycelium's user interface is great and I have been using it for a long time. That is the reason I prefer using it only on my Android phone. There are other wallets that are available like others have commented on your thread, you can use any one of them for Bitcoin.
493  Local / India / Re: India cricket Discussion and predictions [self-mod] on: February 18, 2024, 11:03:24 AM
This might be one of the worst batting by England in this test series. 7 wickets have gone and I don't think it is now possible for them to get that big total by India. They won't be able to draw this test match as there is another day left.

Jaiswal getting his second double century was epic. This guy is rocking the cricket world with his batting in all three formats of cricket. Khan did it again go his half century once more in the third test.

Edit: 9 wickets gone the third test match will end on day 4.
494  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Well Prepared For the Bull Market And So Far In Bitcoin Investment. on: February 17, 2024, 01:37:31 PM
Congratulations on holding on to the stash and believing in Bitcoin. There are two roads that you have now, either keep accumulating to get to the target of 1BTC or offload your stash in the next bull run.

So you thank him for believing in bitcoin in the same sentence where you tell him he can dump all his BTC in the next bullrun. This does not make sense at all, since you either believe in bitcoin as a payment system or you are here for the short term speculation.

Do you have a problem with me asking OP to look at his profit? If you can't understand someone's pride or fate, then you shouldn't reply in such a manner. Of course, you have your agenda like others similar to you whom I have faced more times than I can recall.

Why he can't dump his stash? He is the one who invested to get that stash of Satoshi? Are you talking in your senses if not then you are one of the biggest arrogant and out-of-the-world hypocrites.

I gave him a suggestion that doesn't mean he would follow it. If you have any issues with it then you are impossible to understand. A suggestion doesn't mean that the OP would work on it. And why not dump Bitcoin to achieve one goal, the result is to find financial freedom and nothing more. If you have any issues with it then speak out.

Congratulations on holding on to the stash and believing in Bitcoin. There are two roads that you have now, either keep accumulating to get to the target of 1BTC or offload your stash in the next bull run. I think you need to keep the stash and accumulate more till you reach 1BTC as that would be a big profit in the coming years. In the end, I would say what you have done is not possible for anyone, someone like me would have offloaded everything and still be not happy with the outcome. You have demonstrated patience and clarity, resulting in a positive outcome. Your future accomplishment should be even greater than the one you achieved with your patience.
496  Local / India / Re: India cricket Discussion and predictions [self-mod] on: February 17, 2024, 10:42:55 AM
^ 126 runs lead by India without Ashwin is just bowling at its best on a batting pitch. Jaiswal got his second hundred in this test series and most probably would replace Gill as an opener with Rohit. Gill is now insecure as the position he is batting is meant for Kohli. Till he comes back Gill can enjoy that spot after that he might struggle to find a spot in the team. He might struggle to be part of the T20WC team too, I feel. The third test match is now being dominated by the Indian team. I am confident they would easily surpass 445 runs this time.

I haven't replied to him and I am not answering his call as I feel I would be doing injustice if I say yes. I am confused and do not know what to do, what do you guys suggest?
You want you to help him by giving him money. Is that correct? Or you want you to borrow him money? If he is a good friend and you are able to give him the money without borrowing him, you can. I mean just give him an amount of money that you can afford to give a friend in a way that you can afford to lose such money too when gambling. Definitely he will lose it at last, just know that. I just want you to know that. He is an addict and addicts always lose. If the person is my friend, I will not borrow him or give him any money for gambling.

I can give him the money from my pocket and forget it. The problem will remain the same as next time he would expect me to again bail him out. It is not a viable condition he needs to learn about finance the hard way which I am ok with. What he is now asking is another gamble with his life and his family and that is making me insecure as he would either kill himself if this thing does not work out or he would massacre his family and then kill himself. His desperation is real as those loan sharks are now pressurizing him to make the full repayment before the due date or pay them extra within the time frame. I do not want to be part of such situation but I have to help him and that is kind of a messy deal that I am in.

I haven't replied to him and I am not answering his call as I feel I would be doing injustice if I say yes. I am confused and do not know what to do, what do you guys suggest?
I suggest you to give him his account back and tell him that you can't do that for him. It's something totally unethical to exploit bugs of a casino and use those to take advantage of it. It would be much better if you contact that casino and tell them about the bugs so they can fix it and be safe from such exploits.

I have thought about that but considering the financial mess my friend is in now I could not. I have to think about him first rather than the casino as he is married and has two kids. It is not that he is not working both he and his wife are earning a decent amount of salary. The problem started five years back when due to COVID-19 he lost his job and at that time his wife was not working. There are many issues related to this guy who is my friend and some of them cannot be discussed openly in the forum. I appreciate your suggestion, thank you.
499  Economy / Gambling discussion / Escape Debt with Gambling: A Dangerous Cycle on: February 16, 2024, 12:12:10 PM
We all have debts somewhere or the other and we try our level best to repay that debt. While some of us can do it with ease, some of us face issue after issue to repay it. The situation leads us to find alternatives like consolidation loans or shifting existing loans to another bank at a cheaper rate. But what happens when you take a loan from a loan shark due to a bad reputation with banks? They give the loan without any problem at a high interest rate and most of the time it will be a noncollateral loan. Why I am saying all this because one of my friend has become a victim of a loan shark and to repay the loan he has now shifted to online gambling.

In my country online gambling to an extent is legal but as we all know the house always wins. He tried multiple online gambling platforms but never made any money. Two days back he called me up and said he found an online casino that had a few bugs as one of his colleague was able to cash out a handsome amount by using some tricks. I won't go into details of those tricks as it was complicated for me to comprehend, what he wanted me to check was to find out whether it is possible to trick the system. He asked me to check the casino and he even gave me his account information to try a few games.

I was earlier skeptical and denied his request but he insisted that I take a look. I did and found that the games are not that tough to be rigged if done correctly but when I checked the account balance and found out that he had already invested a good amount of money to make a win and lost a substantial it I was furious with him. Now, he wants me to help him so that he can pay off his debt at the earliest. I have already told him that gambling is a dangerous cycle and it can lead him to more debt. Still, he insists that I help him and is willing to take a risk.

I haven't replied to him and I am not answering his call as I feel I would be doing injustice if I say yes. I am confused and do not know what to do, what do you guys suggest?
500  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is the Bull Charging or Just Warming Up Post-Halving? on: February 16, 2024, 11:39:31 AM
It is a temporary rise due to Bitcoin ETF as we all were speculating earlier. It took some time to reflect in the market and now it has that is why the price of Bitcoin went above $52k and is still holding. I am expecting another spike in the price which we should see in the month of March and then we will see the halving effect in the price. This is nothing compared to what will happen post halving as this might be the year when Bitcoin will go above its old ATH. I am sure that we should more such price spikes as the demand for Bitcoin has been increasing through the ETFs. If Hong Kong's central bank approves Bitcoin spot ETH then there would be a flow of Chinese money which will again help the Bitcoin price to up.
