Official Burst SW update released: https://github.com/burst-team/burstcoin/releases/tag/1.2.9

This will drastically help nodes stay online if/when such attacks are performed in the future.

Can anybody tell me if one should use Burstcoin-fuseburst-1.2.8-v4 or the 1.2.9b wallet at the moment? I want to start mining, but cant get past downloading blockchain. If I will successfully download blockchain in beta 1.2.9b, can I copy it's file to the 1.2.8-v4?
I can not condone a client that can moderate the network which 1.2.8-v4 seems to be doing. It has blacklist setttings. Even if the intentions are good that client should never have reached the public view. Dawallet has stated that we no longer should be using 1.2.9b since it has served its purpose. I sugest you go with muhatzgs version 1.2.8mu that can be found compiled here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7C2w7UN4dvRRGhadUdmN3QxV00/view?usp=sharing
His sourcecoude is available here: https://github.com/muhatzg/burstcoin/releases/tag/1.2.8mu

Heh, I guess it is OK to fork an entire chain to fix the DAO, but it is not OK to blacklist a malicious actor on the network. Who would've figured Smiley

Pardon my sarcasm but here is no substantial difference between these two actions.
I am aware that it is against some people's beliefs on what a decentralized network should be, but in this case I do not think another option existed. Especially in such a short term.

In my opinion a blacklist does not solve the issue. Attacker can change wallet and continue (which we already have seen). maybe the attacker makes 300 wallets with 1000burst each instead. a blacklist in this case only opens up for abuse. Mu wallet does not fork the chain only discards unconfimed transactions similar to dawallets 1.2.9b.

1.2.8 v4 was not blacklisting the account.  That's what a hotfix from another dev was doing. 1.2.8 v4: Fee-based-priority unconfirmed transaction queue, updated libs and config, priority block feeder option added.

Dual 1080ti

What miner are you using, and with what clocks on those 1080ti's?

burstcoin is flawed. and hacked.

Someone is caching the passwords from wallets hosted by burstnation.

I tested two accounts only logged on to them there.

both of them got funds removed, and more to that, the second one got assets transfered.

Whoever owns this: BURST-5BGX-C7EA-A6ET-BAQCD is a thief

currently has over a million in burst and probably every asset there is.

DUMP YOUR COINS AND RUN AWAY. BURST NEEDS TO BE REBUILT FROM GROUND UP!!!

ITS SIMPLY NOT SAFE!!!

i becme to think the same!
burstcoin is flawed!!!
it's too easy take down the burst network..
every time with a new kind of attack.. i think this should only means one things :Burst it's flawed

This says less about Burst and more about BurstNation. Burst has few known exploits, and those belong to NXT (and are prohibitively expensive to perform).

The BN news doesn't surprise me. Either they were hacked and are a victim (still, this means poor security on their end), or their shit is scammy and the "admins" have been hosting & distributing bugged wallet software (really wouldn't surprise me).

Either way: only take SW from github. Better if you have the knowledge to download the source and compile yourself.

Do not confuse dishonest practices by certain elements of the community to be an indication that it is a flaw within BURST.

Join Burst discord and be at the forefront of the discussion - much faster info than here.

Yes it is true, someone is stealing from burstnation - do not use BN wallets, also do not visit BN site if you got a local wallet running as there is indication that the site is infected.

No, blacklist does not solve the issue permanently. However, since messaging is a built in function of the wallet - there is no simple permanent "fix", only compromises.

The Alias of that wallet address is "H"
Dont think it takes a genius to point to haitch

If you follow the community, you'll know his account was hacked some time ago. That's a hacked wallet.

Did I see the name Crowetic in the OP? The same one from Burst coin? Does he have a hand in this coin?

Did you find the answer to this?  If @Crowetic is involved I'll buy more!  I think he's great and completely understood why he felt the need to walk away from Burst.  Any project he works on in the future is one I'd be happy to support.

I can confirm that he believes fully in the coin and directed all his mining gear towards it. He is also an admin in the Telegram group and is highly involved in the Signatum community.

Gross. Ok, thanks for the confirmation. I'm leaving this coin behind now. Crowetic has a history of fucking over people, and I won't lose another dime to his selfish decision making.

GL to the community and project, but I wouldn't hold my breath on this one.

He is a miner and a donor. Thats all

That's what he was in Burst during the first couple months. Then with a smiling face and promising but realistic ambitions, he started investment projects the platform. The thousands I lost from his poor decisions leaves too bad a taste in my mouth for me to come close to another project he's working in.

I suggest others exercise extreme caution if he tries the same in this community.

lol good luck with that. He royally screwed over every one of his investors in his Burst assets. For the $thousands I invested, I only made $hundreds thanks to his abrupt leave and shutting down assets.

I'll never invest in another project Crowetic has his hands on. He's shown he cares more for himself than those who invest in his "projects". I suggest everyone to do some due diligence if Crowetic is in this coin.

Sorry, but only the noobs think that something bad will happen in 8/1.
In 8/2 the btc and alts will be going to the moon.

Yup. There's this general fear about 8/1 outcome, but it looks like the market has already reacted. I'm expecting some sizeable up-swings the following days for major alts.

In any case, be wary of open short positions!

Wallet 1.2.9b with proper db and verified peers should fix... I'm trying now.

It's working OK!  Smiley

Where is the github for this version?

I'm sure lots of people wish to sit in time machine and travel 1.5 years back to set up nice Radeon 390 or Nano farm to dualmine ETH and DCR  Cheesy
Long time ago I didn't do attentive research on this project and heavily underestimated it. Maybe it's not too late too invest still.

<----- Built 6x 390x rig 12/2015.  It nearly roasted us in the summer, but I'm glad I let the fucker run 24/7 Cheesy

damn, i just checked my local wallet...
it stuck again to block 384560   22/07/2017 22:51:54!!!
i already have updated my nxt-default.properties with the peers list...
but it stuck again on block 384560   22/07/2017 22:51:54!!!
Any idea how to fix it?
thank you!

Same problem, trying to re-download blockchain with new peers list but I don't think will fix block 384560 issue.

New core version >1.2.8 with a bug fix ?

Where are the devs !??! No more support ?

it seems all devs are gone???

This is the last place you're gonna find devs. https://forums.burst-team.us is better. But, the network is still under attack and forums and most pools are still under ddos. Discord is best place. But as you can imagine, they're busy.
498  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ethereum: Welcome to the Beginning on: July 23, 2017, 05:10:44 PM
I've been claiming free Bitcoin & I believe Bitcoin will reach $500,000 by 2030.

The market capital for all Cryptocurrencies rose from 6 billion in January to over 100 Billion in June. It's becoming more adopted by the mainstream year on year. As more interest comes along, there is a higher chance of cryptocurrencies reaching the 1 trillion mark in market capital. To newcomers, market capital is the total amount of USD/EURO and other currencies which are invested into Bitcoin & other Cryptocoins. Bitcoin tends to hold around half of this value but this could change.

You can claim I'm ridiculous, but anyone who purchased £1,000 of Bitcoin in 2009 would be a multi millionaire now.

You certainly wouldn't have expected Bitcoin to rise from $1 to $3000 in 8 years.

Not even amazon has seen that much growth as a multi billion dollar company which has one of the largest brands in the world. Since 1998 Amazon have gone from $1 a share to $1000 a share. That's twice the time for a third of the gain.

You can see why Cryptocoins are such a great investment. It's not to late either, grab yourself some coins. You can buy XRP for 20 cent each and they are also due to go up. They were around 1 cent I January!

More investors and mainstream communities need to seriously look into putting some money away in CryptoCurrencies.

Cryptocurrencies such as Litecoin, XRP, Dogecoin & many others will rise in value alongside Bitcoins.

Invest wisely and for the long term. 3-7 years depending on your patience. Even if the coin dips it will recover and rise further than before. This has been seen constantly within the Crypto market place. Don't constantly check the value every day as the fluctuations may panic you and cause you to sell at the wrong time.

I've made 100,000 Bitcoin satoshi this week from this site if you want to get some before they start rising!

It's a faucet which gives you coins every five minutes, not sure how they profit from it, but I love a freebie!

http://freecryptobit.wordpress.com

lol. How about you put that in lending, or mine some alt coins? Constant mooching from faucets is literally the slowest way to make gains in crypto.

Also, this is Ethereum thread, not BTC thread... Cheesy

Attack seems over, mining seems working again  Roll Eyes

I still continue supporting burst project, hope the best !

Attack is definitely not over. There are still a couple day's worth of transactions the blockchain needs to process.

I'm re-syncing local wallet with new trusted peers, then switching to solo as soon as I can change the reward recipient.

It's important for miners to keep mining in order to clear this backlog of transactions the attack as created. I suggest anyone with >20tb to put in the effort and start solo mining.
but what about this?
"I'm re-syncing local wallet with new trusted peers"
there are an official list of Trusted peers?
can you share plz?

In ./conf/nxt-default.properties, update the nxt.wellKnownPeers list:

Code:

This is your public ipv4 address (or ipv6 if that's what you get from your isp). You can get it from simple google search: https://www.google.com/search?q=whatismyipaddress
