The top address is DPR, is it not?

I would assume so but i have no way of knowing.

Price hits $197, following a jump of $30 in a day, calming fears that the closure of Silk Road would harm the currency

Edit: A few laughable points but we're used to that by now. Smiley

There are some studies on arxiv claiming that 4 year old kids outperform top brokers, so..

506  Economy / Speculation / Re: $3 rise in the last hour on: October 19, 2013, 06:07:38 AM
Should have been renamed $3 rise in the last minute. Looks like we must have just jettisoned the solid rocket boosters taking us on this ride to the moon. Temporary drop down to $172, next stop $180. All systems nominal.
507  Economy / Speculation / Re: I CALL $200+ next week... on: October 19, 2013, 05:51:08 AM
YUP!!! TO THE MOOOOOOOOOOON!!!

The moon is just a refueling stop on the way to Mars!

Edit: Beat me to it.
508  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: October 19, 2013, 05:01:55 AM
Thanks for the clarification Kosmatos.

ASICMiner climbing on all exchanges... wonder if they're stable at 100TH/s?

We'll know soon enough. Looks hopeful though.

Wink
Remember when we worried the NSA could 51% the network? ... Wonder if that will ever be not true! Offtopic Smiley

513  Economy / Services / Re: Bitcoin 100: Developed Specifically for Non-Profits on: September 28, 2013, 05:42:06 AM
Not at all. What I meant was is that David was probably already versed in Bitcoin, and if that's the case then Bitcoin 100 was not designed for him or any of his enterprises, hence apologizing.
Ahhh, yes now I understand. Thanks for the explanation. I am working on Neuroethics too and I certainly fully support Bitcoin! Smiley I thought the idea of Bitcoin 100 was to show that Bitcoin is used to support charities. But I guess some of that relates to convincing individual charities as to the utility of bitcoin? So Bitcoin 100 is not for charities which would already accept bitcoin - its core goal is to increase the number of charities which accept bitcoin through direct donations.  I can certainly understand and support that.

On a related note I'm trying to get MAPS to accept bitcoin as I have donated in the past but I'd rather give in bitcoin now. It's surprisingly difficult. I wonder if it would help to create a non-profit's guide to accepting bitcoins? Is there one out there?
514  Economy / Services / Re: Bitcoin 100: Developed Specifically for Non-Profits on: September 28, 2013, 04:57:28 AM
No problem, JE, for I already put 2&2 together, but wanted to present the bad news are delicately as possible.

Thanks! Why is it bad news though? Sorry, I am confused. KO has ~2000 domains. (http://www.hedweb.com/websites/domains.htm) Back in 2001 I thought virtual currencies would be related to Chaumian blinding/digital bearer certificates rather than a P2P consensus mechanism. Is there something wrong with owning that domain?

What about donating to Ed Snowden? https://wikileaks.org/freesnowden

For starters, having a standalone website is probably a must.

Does the link no longer work for you? It should be up at www.neuroethics.com.

The website works fine, keystroke. I/we just feel that more information from you is desirable since Rassah raised possibly a valid point, but I wasn't too sure. I, personally, have no problem with your org. We want to just make sure there's no conflict with our supporters.

Thank you kindly for providing your post a couple posts up from this one. If anybody has any questions, be feel free to ask keystroke. I'm sure he'll address any and all concerns.

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to check in again to see if it was possible to get a donation for Neuroethics (a registered 501(c)3). Is there anything I can answer to help with the decision?

It seems that David Pearce is well-versed in Bitcoin prior to starting his Neuroethics Foundation.

Is this the bug I reported back in March?

If so, awesome if fixed!

Finally it's fixed! Was this the same bug this thread relates to?
519  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: NSA and ECC on: September 11, 2013, 06:21:31 AM
Anyway I only bring up many worlds interpretation (MWI) because it's a simpler meta-theory that explains all observed quantum phenominon without resorting to the wave function collapse (and therefore without the EPR paradox of non-locality), or the privileged observer frame of reference. It still has all that quantum weirdness, but with very simple, easy to understand (albeit mind-blowing) explanation. The best long-winded introduction to MWI is this FAQ. In a couple of decades when we have atomic-scale reversible computers we'll be able to do actual experiments that will tell once and for all if the wave collapse is real or merely a belief resulting from our anthropic bias.

How would reversible computing allow us to determine if the wave function collapses? Unfortunately I don't have access to Deutsch's works. (Sorry to derail the thread - maybe this can be taken elsewhere. Getting Lamport signatures in bitcoin looks like a very important safeguard.)

Was just thinking the same thing when reading this article:
http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2013/09/10/senate-explores-marijuana-laws/2793487/

Quote
Because it's illegal under federal law for banks to open checking, savings or credit card accounts for marijuana businesses, marijuana stores are cash-only, he said. That makes them prime targets for armed robberies and makes them difficult to audit for tax evasion and wage theft, he said.

Would be more secure for them to accept bitcoin rather than cash.
