521  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: how can the community support newcomers in navigating the crypto space? on: December 13, 2023, 07:24:30 PM
<...>
With a little support and encouragement, newcomers can feel more comfortable and confident in navigating the crypto space. What do you think?

I don't agree at all that this place ain't welcoming to new folks.  Sure, maybe some threads toss ya in the deep end, but I ain't seen anybody here give newbies a hard time.  People have gone outta their way to help me out when I was just startin out.  The guides here are real good for beginners too.  And it's easy to just ask questions if you get stuck.  Lots of patient users here to lend a hand and  guess I just haven't seen this unfriendliness you complain about.  Far as I can tell, this is one of them nicer internet communities.  So why do you feel that there is something to improve?
522  Economy / Economics / Re: How to be more effective working remotely. on: December 13, 2023, 07:11:13 PM
I'm totally on the same page here.  This whole pandemic thing has really shaken up how we do our jobs.  A bunch of companies are letting people work hybrid now, which I think rocks for a lot of folks.  You get the perks of doing your thing at home in your PJs if you want, while still being able to hang out and chat in-person sometimes too.  For me that's the best of both worlds.  I love rolling out of bed at 8:58 for a 9 AM meeting once in awhile and  so having both options is clutch.
523  Other / Meta / Re: Second chances on: December 13, 2023, 07:04:43 PM
I'm all for giving banned accounts another shot.  Some folks probably get kicked off just cause they didn't fully get the rules of the place and  that doesn't make what they did okay, but Ive always thought outright banning someone for copying and pasting without citing sources once seems kinda harsh.  Maybe a warning or temporary ban would work better?

I also think giving people a second chance should come with a probation thing.  And we should look at everything they added to the forums, not just a post or two that stood out.
524  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: The coin mixer advertised here stole my coins on: December 13, 2023, 06:23:19 PM
It was CM. Quite funny... umm, I mean sad, isn't it? With all of those precaution he made, and he failed to consult to the FAQ which link was literaly at the bottom of CM's page. If only we know why OP bother to send 7 USD and concerned for the privacy of that amount.

Perhaps he found a few coins in the gutter and decided to give them a good "scrubbing" to remove the patina of "dirty money". Haha! Cheesy

Anywhere on their site??
If it is a fine print hidden somewhere, or in their terms and conditions or policy of 50 pages instead of boldly in front of you when you are paying, would that be a "hey! Its your fault. They told you"...?
They usually have it in FAQ section and not buried somewhere in TOS, written in small letters.

Question to you... Let's assume that is true and that it was indeed in the FAQ. My question, to you, is... such vital piece of info, why put it there and not clearly on the page of purchase?

OK, now that we know it was CM, it's blatantly obvious that you deliberately lied here. Not only was CM the most widely used mixing service at the time, but it clearly stated its minimum mixing requirement (the minimum chip size) of 0.001 BTC on the deposit page when you start a mix, not just in the FAQ section. And, there was never a "50 page policy" or confusing terms of use, but a simple FAQ with a few simple and clear Q&A, easily accessible from the front page. Their transparency was crystal clear, yet you chose to ignore it.
525  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Google is preparing for Spot Bitcoin ETF on: December 12, 2023, 06:48:02 PM
Google's clearly seeing dollar signs in those flashy cryptocurrency coin trusts everyone's yammering about lately.  Makes plenty of sense they've now opened up their big ad network to companies peddling trusts holding the hot digital assets.  After all, hypes simmering at a nice boil these days around cryptocurrency.  And where there's hype, there's eyeballs.  And where companies can grab eyeballs, hey there's profit to be scored for an outfit like Google brokering up those advertisements and

Id bet Google's bean-counters envision tons of curious folks firing up the search engine to wrap their heads around how trusts built around cryptocurrency work.  More searches means more chances for Google to serve up relevant advertisements and take a slice of the action.  So for them it's a no-brainer move to let cryptocurrency outfits place ads and potentially drive up the company's bottom line.  Whether or not average Joes really understand cryptocurrency coin trusts even after clicking one of those flashy ads, well, Google still makes bank.  So theyre happy to ride this wave and rake in the dough.
526  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Logic of some gamblers against math on: December 12, 2023, 06:36:23 PM
But according to the laws of mathematics, the chance of such luck becomes much less, doesn't it?

But that's not how it works. Every spin is a new game, and you're just as likely to win or lose as you were on the last spin.  There is no math that says you have less chance after winning a huge multiplier if the outcome of the game is truly random.
527  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance alternatives on: December 12, 2023, 05:59:28 PM
what alternative wallet or exchanges I can store my bitcoins
<...>

The only real alternative for storing your bitcoins is your personal, non-custodial (preferably open source) wallet. Why are you even asking such a question? You should already have enough experience to know that.
528  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: The coin mixer advertised here stole my coins on: December 11, 2023, 09:45:59 PM
Fair! But the question and point is...WHY WAS THIS NOT CLEARLY STATED BEFOREHAND?! it's not a given like beef is to burgers.

But the question is, how do we know you're telling the truth if you can't even remember the name of the mixer? Maybe you also forgot their terms or didn't even read them before using the service? Try to remember which mixer it was.

Have a look at my comment above to Cantsay. It was $7.

That's not important. It could have been $70, or even $700; that's irrelevant.
What matters is the minimum amount specified in their terms
529  Other / Archival / Re: BTCWILD.NET CASINO | 70% OF PROFITS TO CHARITY | NO KYC on: December 11, 2023, 08:57:48 PM
This casino donatin' 70% of its profits to charity seems like a nice idea, but I gotta wonder if it'll actually work out that way.  I mean, casinos gotta have some pretty high costs with all them fancy hotels and stuff.  If they end up not makin' enough money to cover expenses after givin so much away, the whole thing could go belly up pretty quick.

But if it turns out to just be a marketing gimmick, and they ain't really givin' anythin' away, that'd be pretty shady.    I guess time will tell!
530  Other / Archival / Re: BTCWILD.NET CASINO | 70% OF PROFITS TO CHARITY | NO KYC on: December 09, 2023, 08:37:21 PM
However, I still find it tough to believe any charity related scheme in this forum after the whole Cabalism(Trash) drama.

Yeah, unfortunately, that's the world we live in. You can't trust anybody anymore.

@btcwild, I tried checking out your site again to look at it more closely, but I ran into some issues that other people seem to be having too.  The site wouldn't fully load, and there were missing pieces and images.  Is the site still being built or sorted out? Or could there be some hosting server problems causing these glitches?
531  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gamblers should not believe in first game win trap on: December 09, 2023, 08:23:28 PM
Gamblers should not believe in first game win trap
Experts conducted research that 80% of basic gamblers are trapped in the main win, thus making them addicted and losing a lot of money in the gambling arena. The first winning trap trick has been used for centuries by online and offline casinos.
<...>

That's interesting.  I'm not shocked that there are studies on this revealing such high percentages.  however, I'm still trying to wrap my head around how that initial winning trap actually works.  Do casinos manipulate the games to give new players better odds? And how does this apply nowadays when we have provably fair casinos that supposedly make this impossible?
532  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Interview for sports bettors. on: December 09, 2023, 08:12:04 PM
1- How long have you been gambling in sports?
Ive been dabbling in sports gambling for around 5 years now. I started small, just for kicks, but I've gradually gotten more into it.

2 -What are your worst experience in sports betting?
Oh, man, Ive definitely had some rough goes - this one time stands out when I lost a chunk of change on a game I just knew in my bones was a sure thing.  I was straight up devastated.  But hey, live and learn when it comes to bankroll management.

3-What are your best experience in sports betting?
There was this one killer parlay hit that had me over the moon and  i'm talking a serious jackpot.  That rush is what keeps me coming back to lay down a few bets here and there.

4-What can you advise on the new gamblers and those who struggles in sports betting?
The way I see it it's entertainment first and foremost.  You gotta ask yourself - am I having a good time? Cause if not, pack it in.  No shame in that.
533  Other / Archival / Re: BTCWILD.NET CASINO | 70% OF PROFITS TO CHARITY | NO KYC on: December 09, 2023, 07:20:32 PM
Hello, thank you for the reply.
We will sign a message from a BTC address to show that funds are going to a charity.
We will donate to "thegivingblock" due to it being the most widely used.

Yep, showing proof of a donation like a signed message or transaction record does add credibility over just words.
The Giving Block seems a decent fundraising site from what I've heard, though I gotta ask - how'd you land on which charity or cause to give to?

Anyway, welcome to bitcointalk! Hope you find some good players here.

Many of us are not very familiarized with charity and it's relation with the world of cryptocurrency or Bitcoin, for example, this is the first time I have heard about that charity organizations you just mentioned. To many people like me who are not familiar with it, would you mind to give us some documentation or some reliable information of that charity you mentioned about?

They seem legit. You can find more information about them here: https://thegivingblock.com/about/
534  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gamblers should not believe in first game win trap on: December 09, 2023, 07:01:06 PM
I do not know why it happens this way at first gambling there is a better percentage of people who made profits and this leads to excitement that will in time affect the gambler as he will want to get involved more and more and even stake with higher amount as he feels he did it the first time and looks it as being so much easy.

Yeah, they call it beginner's luck for a reason.  This whole thing happens 'cause newbie gamblers dont really get how risky it all is, so they're way more likely to throw down some wild bets without thinking too hard about losing it all and  they just figure they can beat the house, not realizing those cards are stacked against them from the start.

I mean unless the games are rigged to let the new folks win a little extra at first - kinda like dangling a carrot so they bet bigger next round.  But that'd be pretty sketchy, right?
535  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What will you say within your limits to encourage responsible gambling? on: December 09, 2023, 06:44:54 PM
I don't think anyone would want to hear a waiter in a restaurant say, "You should stop eating, you've already eaten enough" or in a pub, "Stop drinking, you've already had too much."  Grin

Yeah! Can you imagine this scenario unfolding at a restaurant? A waiter scrutinizes a female patron, discreetly scanning a lady's waistline.  He then proceeds to make an unsolicited remark about her figure and food choices.  Excuse me ma'am, perhaps you should refrain from ordering dessert, he comments snidely implying she should be more conscientious of her weight.

An uncomfortable situation, to say the least!  Grin

As for your second example, I've actually heard that line a bunch of times at the bar, especially from my better-looking partner. Wink
536  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Money laundering in crypto casino on: December 09, 2023, 06:20:49 PM
Casinos have long been exploited to clean dirty money.  Even before Bitcoin and blockchain technology, their combination of anonymity and accessibility made them convenient for shady transactions.

Attempts to monitor gambling establishments are routinely dodged.  Customers provide false identification or have backdoor connections that let them bypass anti-laundering regulations.  Law enforcement partnerships crumble when lined pockets blind officials to crime syndicate ties.

So the decentralized, borderless nature of cryptocurrencies only expands existing vulnerabilities in the casino industry and  more freedom to move money means more freedom to disguise where it came from.  And more freedom to access offshore betting means more places for illegal funds to vanish as winnings.

What will you say within your limits to encourage responsible gambling?

I understand you're trying to look out for the client's well-being, but directly telling gamblers to stop playing could backfire.  As a representative of the company, we have to tread carefully when interacting with customers and  perhaps there's a more diplomatic approach, where we could subtly emphasize the value of playing responsibly without outright telling them to stop.
538  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Casinos after the shutdowns of mixers on: December 08, 2023, 10:04:27 PM
Those who wants to launder money will always find their way to do it and yes a darkweb will always exist for them. The casinos are strict already and for sure they will increase their security just to stay in business and to follow the regulation. We know how this market works, and we know how the government wants to regulate crypto as much as possible and if the casinos will not follow it, there’s a risk that the government will look after them and they might give more pressure to those casinos who will not follow the regulation.

Yes, unfortunately, governments the world over are waking up more and more to the possible dangers that come with crypto.  So, they're making moves to control the market.  Sure, some of these rules might seem overbearing to good businesses.  But we gotta have 'em, or else criminals will take advantage of how cryptos can be anonymous and know no borders.

If gambling joints don't follow the rules theyre staring down getting closed or whopping fines.  This'll likely push them to take tougher steps to stop money laundering.
539  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: December 08, 2023, 09:50:56 PM
Once again there is some news about Robert Lewandowski and Saudi teams.
<...>

Yeah! Word 'round the campfire is that Lewa may be leaving Barca come next summer.  least that's what José Alvarez at El Chiringuito is saying.  Apparently Lewa's fat paycheck is cramping Barcas style when it comes to signing new talent.  And if some Saudi team can strike a deal with the Polish star striker, rumor has it Barcelona stands to pocket a cool 20-25 million euros out of the whole shebang.
540  Economy / Reputation / Re: Response to Icopress on: December 07, 2023, 10:05:49 PM
So, you're saying that you can't prove it and that you realized it could be someone else, but you still don't think it's a false accusation? Even though Poker Player has publicly denied ever contacting anyone about you?
I can't prove does not mean the accusation is false. I gave him benefit of the doubt does not mean that the accusation was false too. You seem biased most importantly this is not the topic today. Can I ask again to be on topic? I already asked for it.

I'm sorry to prove you wrong (again) [1], [2], but that's precisely what a false accusation means:

Quote
A false accusation is a claim or allegation of wrongdoing that is untrue and/or otherwise unsupported by facts. False accusations are also known as groundless accusations or unfounded accusations or false allegations or false claims.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/False_accusation

I will avoid replying to JollyGood, airfinex, Poker Player, decodx and GazetaBitcoin . Let's work on solving the problems Icopress have against me.

Well, it's not like it's a surprise for you to bail from a discussion when your errors are exposed – a routine you've mastered on multiple occasions. Consistency, I'll give you that. It's a shame that you don't apply the same level of consistency in your other decisions.

I see you have added GazetaBitcoin and decodx to your list  Roll Eyes

I don't care about being on his "list." For those who prefer a bubble of like-mindedness, feel free to ignore me. I will speak my mind regardless. However, it looks like the list isn't complete; in fact, it seems to be expanding steadily.
