5342  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: -= Galaxy 1 - 20nm ASIC Announcement =- on: April 01, 2013, 01:54:13 PM
There is something i didn't understand in this thread... Why everybody talks about scam ? What is scammy here ? I don't saw author to force someone to give him his money or something... He said when hardware is ready you can pay and get it so lets just wait some time and see... I think scam is when you pay someone and get nothing...

I also had thoughts about developing ASIC, but still cannot get enough funds to start... So if i have posted thread as an announce i will become scammer ?!?!? I think i didn't get it...

Well, if you showed up with a stack of resumes from your organization that establishes a history of delivering ASIC designs, firmware implementations, board and system level hardware, and sales and marketing, I'd say very interesting.

If you show up promising technology that no one but $1B/year companies will be able to purchase until at least 2015, I will call you a scammer.

Did BFL?
5343  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: More drama, ThiagoCMC finnaly caught lying and asking for removing information on: March 31, 2013, 06:46:26 PM
Sort it out privately, don't drag it out on here.

As I see it, you lent 60coins and refuse to accept repayment due to the avalon price increase.

Simple solution:

Stop being a dick.

I think for now I'll make do with the plug I have in place. Do not want to mess with it too much.

Thanks for the advice and all that helped me get through it.

5347  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL worth it now? on: March 30, 2013, 09:25:10 AM
Mine PPCoin with some FPGA's or Get yourself a kickass quad 7970 gaming rig and mine litecoin /novacoin when you are not playing. Keep the rest and buy bitcoin next drop to 70 or 80 and hold it.
5348  Bitcoin / Hardware / [RESOLVED] Re: X6500 - Power Issue on: March 30, 2013, 09:11:05 AM
Resolved. Found a large enough power supply for the barrel plug. An old laptop adpater with the correct barrel and wattage output. Hashing at 400 mhz on the bottom board. Back in biznous!

The fuse at F1 [w] most likely the problem. Still loved to know how to fix that.
5349  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: X6500 - Power Issue on: March 30, 2013, 07:30:09 AM
Possibly the F1 [w] fuse on the board for the molex. The barrel plug powers the unit but not hashing.

Note: My barrel plug adapter can change settings. I have tried 9V and 12V 500mA max output

Voltage:   12V
Current:   500mA
Power:   6 W

Need more power I guess through the barrel plug. Max output is 500mA unfortunately. Typically the board draws what 17 or more for the fpga's alone. I have tried put the fans on the molex but the power through the barrel just isn't enough just need to find a 9v - 12v adapter to push out higher wattage.

What should I try now?

I note that the temperatures for "bottom" card are low and never increase. I suspect not getting enough power or there is a problem with the board or fpga's.

---- For future reference -----

How does one test and replace the F1 [w] on the board?

Must need a special tool and technique as it is so small and was pressed into place when fabricated.

So... anyone worried yet about BFL delivering?
5351  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: My Beef with BFL (Constructive Criticism Only) on: March 29, 2013, 01:08:50 PM
Everyone is in this for money of some sort.   We all want it to spread and work but greed is also driving miners, not altruism.    So, I do not know why you hate BFL so much.   I LOVE THEM.   They take (and continue to take) tens of millions of dollars from suckers and people who are too blind from greed, to put one plus one together.   What you say Inaba or Josh or whatever you wish to call yourself?   Would you invest 20 Million dollars in a company run by a person that is a CONVICTED FELON and cannot leave the state of MO and seconded by a mouthpiece with a third rate education that JUST "by coincidence" goes by the same name (and lives in the same state) as a sorry assed loser that was stealing from directTV?   Come on, explain this to me.   You think Sequoia or Benchmark would finance losers like that?

Well, you all did.   And I am laughing my ass off at you all.   Thanks for keeping the difficulty low for me and all the people with half a brain that can use google to do a background search on people before giving them the equivalent of "venture capital".

There is a saying "pigs feed, but hogs get slaughtered".   you all have financed some pigs that have now become hogs by continuing to take more and more money.   what are you going to do about it?   Nothing?   I thought so.   you got what you deserved.  you all bought a lottery ticket from the dude on the corner......    ironic isn't it?

+1

Yup.
5352  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: How much do you pay for power? on: March 29, 2013, 02:56:15 AM
0.065  cent per KWh for residential or a lot less if you go for BULK here in Indonesia.
5353  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Cairnsmore2 - What would you like? on: March 29, 2013, 02:47:53 AM
Let them set the price... before we speculate. Maybe 20K is not unreasonable nor would 40K depending on what it costs for them to produce a 1 TH/s machine.

The more they can build the lower it would be. Straw polls won't be able to really gauge that and I think the market place needs some smaller units in the near term too bad no one is going to be doing that.

1 Th/s in 4 to 6 months with bitcoin nearly $200 USD and a difficulty in 20 to 40 million range? That is speculation... 20K as a price is speculation. But I do believe the people at Entrepoint have a solid reputation and have the team to do this properly. Good Luck... very very very interested.

So many factors and there could be other players that could effect price especially if Avalon sells ASIC chips.

I'd be keen to resell units here in the Asian market.
5354  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: X6500 - Power Issue on: March 29, 2013, 02:10:02 AM
Probably a bad cap or something, when you use a barrel plug one of 2 things will happen:
1. the component that is defect will heat up or you will see a bit of smoke.
2. the plug will die because the short (assuming it is in short) in the circuit will take to much power from it.

Thanks will let you know... I am guessing the barrel is not working either... and the capacitor or component that is pooched just didn't smoke out or fry in that manner. ARGG!
5355  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: X6500 - Power Issue on: March 29, 2013, 02:01:10 AM
* It is a rev-3 unit with the red board and fans. (No power LED my error. 1 Data Led, 2 Mining LEDs either side of the chips).

* The molex from the PSU doesn't provide power and it is no longer detected. It was working fine before I resituated the boards to my other desktop. The other boards working fine. There is no heat or smoke nor was there any at any point, no burnt electrical smell, the fans do not spin when molex is plugged in with the board anymore, the 'dead' board was running hotter than the other boards nearly 50C without interruption for 8 hours at 400 mhz on the ...merged200mhz firmware.

* The fans can be powered directly through the molex.

*  The LED lights up for the data usb plug on the board.

I got a bad feeling it is pooched. Anything I can do if the barrel plug doesn't work or is it bricked?
5356  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Conspiracy theories on: March 29, 2013, 01:29:57 AM
I think we can debate this until the cows come home, ultimately the market will decide for itself.

Who knows, while we all stand around comparing crypto dick sizes, a corp could release their own version (with a 'trusted brand name' already in place on the back of a multi million dollar marketing campaign) and a use case that does not leave the average joe confused as hell looking at a long line of random characters not knowing a private key from a wallet.

Interesting. Amazon could do this tomorrow and accept their new currency as payment for all their goods and services. If they let others use it freely it could eclipse BitCoin rather quickly. It could eclipse the GDP of some small nations rather quickly.

Amazon have the computing power, the on-line retail presence, and an aptitude for creative tax solutions. Somehow I doubt they want to be the world central bank.

If only a smart foward thinking amazon of tomorrow would do this rather than wait for an established dotcom... then you might have a winner and breakout in altcoins. Unfortunately I think people will have to build their own rather than expect a miracle.
5357  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin is a ponzi, a pyramid and a pump and dump scheme and crap, too on: March 29, 2013, 01:26:02 AM
The value of any coin is whether people use it. If people use Litecoins or any altcoin for that matter it has value. By the very fact people trade it and even buy things with it negates the idea of it being "ponzi'-esque. Do people speculate and drive the price up? Sure most things bought and sold will have that profile. The fact there are people who talk the alt-coins down is just part of the economy. Basically weight the arguments and decide to move forward. If you are miner with a lot of GPU hash power it might be time to move to LTC or NVC.

Should you buy LTC and hold it? Sure put in as much as you are willing to lose or part with for months possibly years. As with any investment there is risk but I don't really see the point of endlessly promoting / shaming alt-coins considering there is a market established for them and if you are reasonably careful with your investment and not put everything into one basket say BTC only or LTC only but spread it more you should be able to protect your investment.

There is a lot of valuable information on these forums already regarding the nature of cryptocurrencies and the risks you are taking. I wish everyone luck and hope your choices bring you both financial returns but FUN.
5358  Bitcoin / Hardware / [RESOLVED] X6500 - Power Issue on: March 28, 2013, 01:43:28 PM
I have recently purchased a few X6500's and all were working well till today. One board the usb (data) led lights but the power led remains dark the fans do not spin when powered by the molex through the board. I have changed power going in from the the psu switching in the plugs from the working boards. There is was no smoke, smell or issues with heat. What can I do to trouble shoot this?

1. I will try and get a barrel plug soon to test if I can get power in that way.
5359  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Cairnsmore2 - What would you like? on: March 28, 2013, 01:32:44 PM
We are still playing with the Cairnsmore2 design that is our current testbed design and that is looking good. Out of that work we think a base module of about 1TH/s is practical size for us to build overall units out of and that is what we are working on next. Please don't bombard us with emails or PMs asking about the price as at this point we won't say and it isn't even totally set. I can say it will be set generally by a combination market forces and manufacture costs so you can make a reasonable zone guess from existing competitiion pricing what that might be. However if that market price doesn't meet our expectations we probably won't launch the product and just feed the design into our internal Goliath systems. Assuming we do go for public launch (we are still examining IP issues as well) pricing will be available at formal product launch.

Anyway point of this post is to get a straw poll of how many people might be interested in products at this sort level of hardware investment?

Interested.

The coin that "ROBS" from everyone to give to the "MINERS".

Interesting version of Robin Hood.
